HAPPY NEW YEARS DAY TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much to all of you for being here for me during 2004 and listening to my complaints and giving me support. What a tremendous group to have found!!!!!! Zip hope you enjoyed the DVDs and being home and safe instead of out in the crowd. I did make it to watch the NY celebrations and was glad I was not in the crowd. Any special plans for today? What are you cooking. Barb I liked your post on the Golden about the gals and their goals. I think some of them have been stuck for quite a while. You had such a nice way of putting it to them. Linda we do have the heat on but the outside temps have sure shot up 60s today. But we are about dried out now. How is your blood pressure doing with the new med? Finally I am settleing down with more consistent and low readings. Shawnee loved your description on making the bookmarkers so large. It sure takes a while to get the art down properly. I am still on simple things but enjoy them. I will give some potholders and dish cloths to the kitchen at church. Ginny how warm is it over there by you?. We have sunshine and 60 plus degrees. Susun hope you all enjoyed that dinner out with Ella on her first New Years Eve. Will you have a few days off with the holiday or is it back to work on Monday? Hey Jackie did you spend NYEve with any of those DGKids. I remember when we were kids we used to take some pots and pans outside and bang away on them at Midnight. Julie you must be having a quiet NYs there. Hope all is well and peaceful for you and your family. We had a nice dinner out and enjoyed being with our friends. I think it was about our 6th NYEve with them. Not much traffic on our roads so it was not a problem with the driving. Later folks |

Happy New Year Barb, Loretta, and all who toddle in later.
Barb, I cashed in the chips at 11PM...the bed called MIGHTILY. Lately it's 50-50 whether or not I can make the last minute of the year. It's always my LAST day of drinking for a while! Loretta, Nothing special today...I'll root throught the freezer- already did the Lean Cuisine Swedish Meatballs for lunch (pretty good!) Bob left at 7AM to get standing room tickets for this afternoon's opera at the MET (Rodlinda by Handel) and THEN he's doing a movie, and THEN he's ushering for a show (a way to see things free.) If I did a day like that, I'd need a hearse ride home. Standing for 4 hour operas and my back don't see eye to eye anymore.Compute getting dodgy. Norton's daily scan last night found 3 WORM infections...these are 3 that actually got through. Deleted now but boot-up had to be done twice. WellI guess I'd better save FAVORITES and my ADDRESS BOOK and ORGANIZER files...and pics, and games and yada yada...in case of the annual REFORMAT. First I'll try System Restore to a date last week. Linda, I'll look for the broader "fleece" term and see if I can find something I like...sales get good on linens very shortly. I think I'll be ready for the gym LIGHTLY on Wednesday when my FREEZE is up. We've got 60° right now and sunny. I'll go for a short walk, probably to Target again...A&P if I get ambitious (triple value coupons this week up to $.99 = $2.97...not too shabby, but a lot of mine expired at Years end.) Later... Enjoy the day all my buddies and buddy spouses.

Happy New Year!!!
I hope everyone had a fine time in their celebrations of choice. We went to friends house....our tradition for umpteen years or more....and had drinks, snacks, played dominos and watched some tv. This year for some reason I had no trouble staying awake!! We were not the noise makers in the area...we just listened to everyone else and enjoyed watching their fireworks. One year many moons ago we had a NYE party and come midnight....with all the 'good cheer' we partaked it seemed logical to hand out my pots and pans for noise makers. Next day I had pans with broken handles and dents in their bottoms. Never made that mistake again. This morning I got up out of bed and made a strange walk to the bathroom.........sideways!! Been fighting some sort of vertigo ? ? all morning. NO! I'm not still drunk!! Never did get even tipsy last evening. Finally gave in and took a dose of sudafed in the hopes it will clear up a possible inner ear thing. XXing my fingers. waving to everyone. ![]() |

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
Yes, 2005 has arrived quite calmly up here. The weather has been milder and we are having a thaw of sorts. It is presently SUNny! The early dinner was just heavenly, 7 courses, exquisitely presented. I had rack of lamb, DH had halibut. I had the cheese tray for dessert with sliced pears, so a good LC choice. DH had the dark chocolate filled with custard, cream with a biscuit base. Needless, to say, he didnt sleep too well last night...caffiene??? Ella was a very good girl. She sat in a highchair quite calmly entertaining herself, then when she got bored we all took a turn at holding her. She was a big hit with her little silver and black outfit, lots of folks stopping DD and asking how old she was and her name! They were very proud parents! We went over to their place afterwards, for an hour or so. We came home early for 10:30ish, we watched TV, saw the New Year in, then off to bed. Nothing too eventful. Talked to DS today, then DH's sister in Ireland, missed his other sister's call (from the UK) last night as we were out. Glad to see y'all checking in today! Roast beef for dinner today with several veggies! SuSUN ![]() |

Sheesh,
TWO bits of bad news today. Bad: Computer Ststem Restore WON'T...a bad sign, when that defense goes it means the worm was trying to prevent its deletion. WORSE: My neighbor Upstairs moved out yesterday; that means I'll be pancaked between the Arctic and the Antarctic if they don't find tenants soon. High rise luxury SLUM living. |

Hi Y'all
Sending good wishes and blessings to y'all, for a wonderfully content New Year. WTG, Barb! Gotta envy your stamina, up LATE, and then up EARLY! A couple of Goals for me personally are to cut a tad of coffee consumption (its waaaay bad) and get my water level back up to par...and say HELL, NO !! to any requests I don't wanna do. ![]() Loretta, glad you are getting in some good times, after that depressing sneauxed-in / roof problem. Guess that "mouse afghan" / porholder wasn't too bad; my Indian friend dropped by, and I sent it home with her...plus a bookmark. (The pattern for it is in your Email) Since I approach those &!#**^#@! pattern instructions the same way I do Recipes, I just wanna learn some basics, then do my own thing. AW, ZIP....that puter is too hard on your stress reserves...buy yourself a new one with all the bells and whistles (ya can't take it with ya, so spend a bit of it) ![]() My GAWD, your Bob has the attitude/ fortitude of a Spring Chicken! I want some of what he takes for it. Jacki, oh no! Sure hope that Sudafed does the trick! Glad ya had a good evening, but sorry your morning started so crappily. SuSUN, just bet y'all were ALL beaming, with lil Miss Ella being dressed like a princess, and on her best behavior. They are such a joy when they are "no fuss" babies. YUM on that spectacular Dinner! Julie, hope your knee is improved. Are you going to continue working? Yoo-hoo, Montana...where are ya, Gal? Out enjoying that lil RAV ? Ginny, sending good thoughts your way, hoping Bub is losing his vertigo, and gaining good footing. TO ALL, and THANKS for being here. ShawneeLast edited by shawneesioux : 01-01-2005 at 05:24 PM. |

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!
We had a calm, quiet NYE here at home and watched the Law and Order SVU marathon. Went to bed @ 1:00 which is actually a bit early for us. Yesterday afternoon we went to my cousin's place and saw how everything turned out. They bought a very nice doublewide and put it on their 8 acres, just love their area! It's really quiet out there. Got introduced to their 2 pups (were dropped on them shortly after they moved in) which are just adorable little Rottie/Lab looking girls. Very sweet and playful, about 4 months old, and if feet are any indication, they'll be BIG. Today was mid to upper 60's, sunshine, light breeze. Opened up the windows and aired the house out--gotta love that for Jan 1! I wound up getting a wild hair somewhere and did a bunch of Suzy stuff (WTH???) including vacuuming, mopping kitchen floor, 4095757548945 loads of laundry it seems like. Got the covers for the dog pillows washed too. Glad to have gotten rid of the wild hair! Steaks on the grill were wonderful. Need to check the weather and see if we'll have a repeat for tomorrow. Zip, good luck with the annual detox! Also with the detox on your 'puter. Why do you wind up with so many screwball things on it? We have very little trouble and we're on the same O/S Shawnee, cut down on caffeine ? If I did that, they'd put me in a straight jacket and take me away..... Now the saying HELL NO about stuff is a good idea. Linda, out playing today? Loretta, yep, this gorgeous weather is just what you need to get the icky-yuckies gone! Glad the drying out is going well for you. Sounds like you have a good plan for your NYE celebration. That's the kind I like best if we do anything. Susan, what a fun time for all y'all! And it's so much nicer when a little one behaves so well at a restaraunt like that Jacki, aw hell, no more vertigo is allowed! There's been enough of that to last us for a loooooooong time, so hope you're feeling better! LOL on your previous pots and pans disaster....didn't hear any of that by us, just some fireworks (and lots of barking at them). Julie, hope y'all had a good New Years......how's the knee holding up? Barb, so what did y'all do to ring in 2005? Well, all, off to lurk for a bit. Tomorrow is the last regular season game day, so hopefully my Vikings will do well. Would like to see a playoff berth secured!

Have a get together tomorrow with friends and I just finished making deviled eggs. I don't know what everyone is bringing -- but at least I'll have something to eat.
I like that - HELL NO - resolution, need to try that!! Caffeine? I gave that up again -- seems to help me because I drink more water. Zip, do you have hard wood floors that the heat makes a difference? Now, you really need to find a fleece blanket and cover-up and rug???? Julie -- how are you doing? This over-rated holiday season is amost over and everyone can return to their humble selves!! I am so glad that most of my relatives (like siblings) live far, far, away. We get along for a short period of time but lets not test it any further. Jacki, back to work on Monday?? Hi to everyone else and a good start to the new year!! Barb

Hi everyone.
Gosh I'm getting here late again. I want to add that you are the greatest group of INTERNET friends there ever was, and I just want to say, I love ya all.<sniff> I'm so glad we found each other. Last night we took a ride to the top of the hill and had a good view of the valley, city but unfortunately, not so good of the fireworks. There was another hill blocking the view, darn it all. We did get to see some of the higher ones though. Hung around the old homestead today and took a ride to wally world tonight just to beat the ol cabin fever. Barb, up late and up early would do me in. Have you crashed early tonight? So are you going to tell us what you did New Year's Eve? Loretta, it's good to hear you are getting all dried out. Yeah the heat on with those 60's would be a bit uncomfortable. BTW if you are close to a Wal Mart, check out the sales. They had double fleece jackets on sale and they were pretty nice. Some of the brands are the same ones sold by our large, upper level department stores. They were only $29 to $39.00. *&%^$ Blood pressure anyway. Some mornings it's low, low, low and stays that way until late at night. Then it goes quite high. I may ask for a small dose of diuretic before upping the Diovan to 160... How is yours doing? Roger, send up some of what Bob is taking to maintain that stamina. Wow!! There are some great on line white sales going on now. How about some of the big Dept. stores in the City? They must have some pretty good deals on polar fleece too. Oh Crap!! just how often do you have to do a reformat anyway? At least you know what you are doing. I would love to try but I'm scared. Don't know if I could back up my stuff without losing everything. I do use your instructions to save my favorites to a floppy and have some CD-R's. Maybe I'll try but how the heck do you know if everything is saved?Geezz, why do your neighbors keep moving out? Hope you get some tenants who like heat pretty soon. Aww Jackie, sorry you are experiencing vertigo. Please go to the doctors ASAP. Don't fool around with it. Oh the good ol days using pots and pans as noise makers. Those were the days,eh? Julie, Happy New Year to you too. So what did you do for the holiday? Susan, Glad little Ella was good for everyone. OK now we want to see some pictures. Shawnee, You and Loretta are inspiring me to pick up my crochet hook again and finish that afghan and maybe make a few of those book marks if you will be so kind as to send directions. Given up some caffeine, eh? I just cut back last month and started drinking two cups of the "real" stuff in the morning and switching to decaf the rest of the day. Didn't see any difference in my BP but had a bit of a headache though. It's not too difficult to say "NO" once you get used to it. It's rather fun to be known as the "******. ![]() Ginny, how's poor Bub doing today? All of his on line aunts and uncles want to know. |

Me again,
Pupdate for today: Bub seems to be a bit more steady, didn't need as much help up and down the steps, more just a stabilizing force than anything. So long as he remembers to go slowly, he keeps his feet pretty well. He does try to speed it up a bit and that doesn't work so good for the old guy. He has slowed a bit on his eating, I think he's pretty close to normal on that now, but showing signs of enjoying the canned stuff a bit too much (read as doesn't want just Plain Old Dog Food now). Got that base covered as we take @ 1/2 can of the Good Stuff and mix it in well with softened dry. Dog is addicted to gravy? Thanks, Linda, for asking, and Thank You Everyone for all your concern, thoughts, prayers and encouragement for my oldest baby. I think if we can keep him at this level of improvement or above, he will have a quality of life being content and well loved. The biggest criteria is quality, and I believe that even if he doesn't completely recover from this, he is stable enough now for there to be quality. Hugs, |
