HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE, MVM's
Good morning,
Well that time of year again... My Christmas drinking gives way tonight to a 3 month fast that I've been doing til 3/31 for the last 15 years. Good riddance. Boy, all that talk about rib eyes made me hungry for some rare tender beef. I've pretty much given up on steaks and roasts because I don't have the wherewithal to cook it right...my gas stove steaks are always dreadful. All I can do right is to braise the tough stuff. Personally, I think the U.S. should follow the lead of many countries and discontinue the big scale festivities, like the NYC balloon drop tonight. Kind of vulgar in face of the mass slaughter that visited the Earth on Chriistmas. Something ugly about a bunch of drunks blowing horns at a time like this. Ginny, I was going to repeat recommendation to try meclizine, which worked very quickly to clear up my last (and worst) case of labyrinthitus. But then I looked up Antivert...lol, it's the Brand name for meclizine. It looks like Bub will need the drug for awhile yet. Linda, I searched Target high and low (first outing in 10 days.) No Polar Fleece in the bedding department? Do I have the name right, or is it only made as clothes? Shawnee, A good at your postcard sized "afghans." Good if your forehead gets chilly?![]() ![]() More later...crawling to coffee pot now. I wish you all a lovely New Years Eve. (We are staying home and watching some DVD or another.)

Happy New Years Eve !!!
I agree Zip, we stay home and watch some TV and......I now have a DVD player -- I feel so right there with tech. alos got a PDA for Christmas. I think that will really come in handy with work. We went to put DD on the plane and of course, they were over booked. So, she got to be the first volunteer to take a later flight and got a free round trip ticket for anywhere in the lower 48 - good for a year. This is United and they put her on Delta going to Salt Lake (instead of Denver) and got into Minneapolis 30 minutes later than original ticket. What a deal!! We went to see Polar Express which was cute. I also used my gift cards to buy all that stuff 50% off. I got four new sweaters and four books -- I'm as happy as a bug in the rug. I DO have a fleece cover-up. Thanks for all of the family pictures Julie !!!! They are so good lookin' must take after you!! SuSUN, thanks for all of the emails -- You are no longer SPAM. Loretta - you are truly patient. If I have water all over the place, etc. I get sooooo pissed!! There is no livin' with me, and I've had the basement wet in the past!! We are now getting the snow from CA's mess with snow, mud, and AR's water. People are really suffering from these events and on the weather forecast they are only interested in knowing if the PARADE will be dry. Later, Barb

Hi Folks
Quote:
I found that thought quite provoking. I have the power to make changes in my life if I desire. Just wanted to pass that along. Have fans and dehumidifiers going and drying out slowly. I am ready to move on. 60 degrees today. Had to check to see if my tulips are popping up, but they are not. Zip I sure do agree with you on letting the New Years Eve celebrations go for this year to remember those in need. Their losses are incomprehensible. Just cannot imagine. Barb that fleece stuff is great. I have a bed jacket that my sis made for me and I use it all year round. The a/c makes it just cold enough to need it while I read. Did you see the pic of the jacket Linda posted. It was a double fleece one. I want to look for that. What a deal for DD on that ticket for DD. She can get back home for free or go on a vacation some where. Back later folks. Loretta |

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL!
I was glad to have a little time today, to read your posts. I was at the salt mines the last two days! Some paper catching-up/sorting to do (as always)! Then, let the games begin! DBIL down in Australia has already celebrated the arrival of New Year, he said it was greatly tarnished by the losses caused by the tsunami. His daughter and her family are safe in Singapore. DS has been having some R&R down in Ft. Lauderdale, so calls daily to check-in. I am off for a blow dry at 3p.m., dinner early at a gorgeous place tonight with DD and her little family, the early sitting! As I say, how things change with a baby on the scene! We have So looked forward to her sitting at the table with us. I can see it will be a bit of pass the baby round so we can all have a chance to eat something, but I would rather that than the situation DD was in before, with all this denied. Thank you to each and everyone of you guys for helping to make 2004 the terrific year that it was! YOU ARE A TERRIFIC BUNCH! I am so glad to know you all! SuSUN ![]() |

Hi everybody. I'm off and running again and need to see if I can get some good seafood for a pig out feast tonight.
We will stay home and perhaps just drive to the top of the hill and watch the fireworks display over the three cities below and meditate on the disaster in Asia. I totally agree with Roger that there is something ugly about a bunch of drunks celebrating in view of what happened there.Roger, I suppose each fleece maker may call it something different. Target had something called Micro Fleece so I picked up one on sale for around $30.00. It's not as heavy as some of the polar fleece I have but it's still warm. http://littlehousefashions.com/denpolfleecc.html It's unfortunate that you don't have a BBQ grill area on the grounds of your apartment complex. A good steak tastes best done over charcoal or on gas grill. Shawnee, LOL at the "mouse" afghans. ![]() We have purchased rib eyes and other cuts of beef at Sam's Club but the price isn't that much better. UGH, hope you can get the yuck water and stain out of your carpet. Hope also that the poor neighbor gets rid of his mess too. Ginny, Hopefully this next course of treatment for Bub will do the trick. It's good to learn that he is sleeping almost "normal" now. Been trying to find some farmers in the area who raise free range, hormone and antibiotic free BLACK ANGUS but haven't found any yet. There are some places that sell it but only at certain times of the year. We will take a trip to several in the spring because we need the freezer first. Barb, how cool that the airline gave your DD a ticket for the minor inconvenience. When my mom and I were coming back from Montana one year, we were asked in Cleveland if we would surrender our seats for a ticket, we wanted to but DH was already on the way to Syracuse, 1 1/2 hrs from home, to pick us up..no way to reach him...darn it. Loretta, hope you get everything dried out. Do you have the heat turned on too? I found ( in our old house) that dry heat worked best. Yes, we all have the power to make changes in our lives if we so desire. Susan, Enjoy sitting with Ella tonight and your family dinner. How nice to play "pass the baby" for Ella's first New Year. Waving to everyone else. |
