BOXING DAY for the MVM

Hi everybody,

I feel a tad better this morning. Maybe I'll skip today's ALLEGRA. I took 15 mg. Temazepam to sleep the last two nights...not a bad drug. Bob got them from the VA last month.
Twin size old blankee working pretty well, so sleep was nice.

Bob got pics of the party on the replacement CF card they sent me. I got a kick out of the "WARNINGS" as I always do.
Three warnings:
*Please keep card out of reach of babies or infants (sensible)
*Please do not swallow the card (unnecessary)
*PLEASE CONSULT A DOCTOR IF YOU SWALLOW THE CARD(moronic)

I'm surprised they didn't say anything about other bodily orifices.
How about PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL INTO CAMERA WITH A SLEDGEHAMMER!
Or NEVER USE A BLOWTORCH ON A COLD COMPACT FLASH CARD.

Lot's of goodies from the party and enough turkey and fixins for tonight's dinner for two.

Remember, today is the day (BOXING DAY) when we give the servants leave to go visit their families and we provide them with a box with giftes and their bonuses for all their work at Xmas. I think $2,000 each is about right?

More later...I MAY walk over to Duane Reade Drugs accross the street just to say I've "been out" at least once in 4 days!

A lovely day to all my dear friends.

Good Boxing Day morning to one and all!

We had a wonderful relaxing 'comfort and joy' dinner at DD's yesterday! We got home late, fell asleep watching TV, (love that!)
Up around 9ish this morning, lovely and relaxed now the holidays are almost over! That tryptophan in the turkey does the trick every time! (almost as good as Temazepam eh Roger?)

Bin listening to Bob Dylan this morning. DH's new CD, old memories of our youth!

Roger,
Glad to hear you are feelin a bit better today! Did you discharge Aunty today?
Wow! You are so generous with your servants this year!
That reminds me I must tip the paper carrier.

Wavin to y'all.

Hi Susun and Roger

HAPPY BOXING DAY!!!!!!!!!! ANOTHER CELEBRATION!!!!!!!! WTG

The big snow is beginning to melt and we have water in the house both the floor and dripping from the ceiling in one spot.
I sure am glad that it is melting though. Maybe I can get out tomorrow if the driveway thaws those thick ice patches. Running out of salad and rx for DH.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better Zip and that your blanket is working well. Good deal on the leftovers and goodies for dinner.

Susun how did little Ella react to her first Christmas? I missed that with Leah. Did you get any pics? Wish I had had some turkey on board, I could have used that tryptophan for sure these past few days. Finally got newspaper delivery today from the 23, 24 and 25 of this month. No today's paper though. I miss the funnies.

Hope the rest of our group have pleasant holiday memories.

Back later

Loretta

A quick hello today. Had a lovely time at our friends yesterday the Christmas Eve. Chuck and I enjoyed our Christmas morning just the two of us, a first in all our 41 years.
Hope you all have a very relaxing day today. I'm waiting to return a few things first of the week. I hate fighting the crowds. Later..

Happy Boxing Day everyone.

It's warming up a bit here and is now in the mid 20's. Guess we will get some snow showers later. I'd love to get out and take advantage of some of the post Christmas sales but it's going to be too crowded for me.

Roger, I'm happy to hear you are feeling better AND got a good night's sleep. Keep your fingers crossed that the blankie will work throughout the winter.

Turkey and fixins sound good to me. We came home with ham and fixins from my DD's and some great sausage, chicken broth, cabbage and bean soup from my son. I'll dig into that later.

Susan,Good for you for sleeping in late today. We all need that once in awhile.

Oh I love Bob Dylan and must get some CD's since the Rav4 has a CD player. I have one in the computer room but don't have very many CD's.

Gee Loretta, where is that water coming from? Hope it's just an Ice Jam and not your roof failing. Have someone check it so you don't get mold or screw up the plaster ceiling.

The roads must not be too bad for the paper delivery person to get through. Just be very careful if you get out.

Here are some pictures I took last night at DS's house of Nikolas and the girls.

Gee are the parents gluttons for punishment? Carlie got a drum se

This is one of the houses down the hill from us.

Thanks for the pictures Linda, Nikolas sure is a big boy. He looks so sturdy and happy. Yikes!!!!!!!!!! Drums. Sounds like a very lively household.

I think our gutters are frozen and the water is dripping in under the outside sofits. Will have to have someone take care of it later on.

LOL Her parents got her the drum set, guitar and clarinet. I was hoping she would get a flute.

Julie, YES they are NUTS.

Yes Nickolas is a big boy and weighs 22 lbs at 7 months.

Loretta, yeah we have had that happen too in one of the upstairs bedrooms. It's ice jamming and a PITA.

Roger, I like many different kinds of music from some Old time Rock and Roll, Charlie Daniels, Alabama , to Kitaro, some opera, classical guitar, etc. One of my very favorites is Spirit Flutes by David Maracle.

Her is a better picture of the girls and Deme's toy pup. It looks real, barks and walks all over. Gee to be a kid now.

Hey gang,

A nice, lazy day here for us too. Did only what we had to, and are enjoying not doing anything else! We watched Peyton Manning beat Marino's td record this afternoon.....wonder if that ball will ever get on ebay LOL!!

Yesterday was a really pleasant day too...phone calls to and from family and friends, and one very special call from a super-neat gal that I wished lived closer.

Bub is doing pretty good today, still progressing slowly, but being a bit more talkedy. This morning DH fed him, he ate 1/2 a large can of the 'good stuff' AND his normal pre-sickness scoop of regular. Looks like he'll start gaining some weight to replace what he lost during the worst of the sickness. Either he's just that hungry or the prednisone is hitting high gear. We'll be checking with the vet tomorrow to see what meds we can keep him on and how to lessen the strength without sacrificing improvement.

Sounds like everyone is taking a day off to regroup and recharge--I'm all for that!

Let's all count our blessings as we think of the tens of thousadnds that drowned in their sleep overnight in Sri Lanka, Sumatra, Bangladesh, and even the African coast from the earthquake (worst on the planet in 40 years) and tsunami that hit last night.

Hi Ginny,
Sounds like we had identical days!
We too, just laid back doing as little as possible.
Made lots of phone calls, yikes the bill!

Linda,
What a cutie Nikolas is! He is about 6 weeks older than Ella. I wonder if they will ever cross paths? I think Leah is the next, then Julie youngest Logan. Maybe we should have a reunion for the grandbrats of LCarbers! When they are 21 of course! LOL!

Roger,
Yes, DH said he heard Indonnesia too! Our Niece and her family live there. Thank goodness, they are visiting Singapore for a few months presently.
Sounds like a bad one!

I think the modern day equivalent of "Box" in Boxing Day, stands for Phone Box! Sheesh we called DH's eldest sister in Ireland, the UK several times, DHs sisters and a brother, my cousin called us. I called another cousin, and hit a bonus as she had a party going on, so I got to speak to other relavites not spoken to in years.....an hour later! $$$s ticking by!

We are calling Australia tonight as it will be around noon there!
DS calls almost daily from Fla. He is leaving for Ft. Lauderdale tomorrow for a few days rest and beach, albeit coolish beach.

It is so lovely to hear all the familiar voices and feel like we are surrounded by family at this time! It's tough being an immiGRUNT!!!

Had enough of Bob Dylan now, too slow for me!
Changed to Roy O, the Kinks, the Mamas and the Papas just a tad more lively for me.

Dont wanna go back to work on Wednesday....didnt go last week either, no paychecks for a while....umm!

Hope to be back to "NORMAL" tomorrow!

I am just astonded by the devasation in southeast Asia --- so many families gone. I can't imagine what it must mean to the people there!!

Happy Boxing Day to SuSUN!!

Pictures are cute -- as an aunt, I would always give "noisy" presents because I didn't have to live with it!

We went to Telluride today to watch money flowing past us.......
and see the skiing and always the snowboarders . There are a lot more snowboarders these days picking up on that sport! Almost everyone we saw was wearing a helmet. There have been so many accidents. The views were great as we took the gondala up and down the mountain. Then we finished up with a good soak in the HOT SPRINGS.

Tomorrow -- just rest and relax until we go hiking with some friends in Arches National Park in Utah. It's a 3 hour drive for us and really neat canyon views. It's a great place to go hiking in the winter (because the summer is too hot). The Colorado River flows through there on the way to the Grand Canyon.

Samantha leaves Thursday to go back 'north. She sure is becoming quite good at this PT stuff and I need to go get my back put back into shape -- she says that one of my vert. in the back is stressed!!!!! I could have told you that!!! And.... I don't need a degree!!

Her first clinical next year is in Maine -- so I will FINALLY see the eastern coast!!

Waving to all and wishing you the best for the new year -- it's a comin'

Barb

Hi Y'all

HAPPY BOXING DAY.

GBKaci and I spent all day in Portland, looking for bargains...HA! Our local sales are better! We parked in a Parking Garage, then walked to lots of department stores.
This evening, my DSon called from Puerto Vallerta (?) and raved on about the weather and views, golfing, etc. Grrrr...he could have taken Mom with him..LOL

Zip, good to hear you are improved, and thanks for the electric blankee idea...dug out my small personal "couch-comfort" one..wrapped up and had a good nap. My Thyroid is whacked out again, so hands, feet, and back are frozen even in a hot room.
I slept with gloves on and 2x sox.

Right, Zip...we all have a lot of Blessings to count, when viewing the rest of the world.

Ginny, we all have a vested interest in Huggy-Bub's progress, and its wonderful to know he continues to regain his ol' self.
Ironically, I also had a teriffic phone chat with a super gal who drawls out a MN-TN accent.
We all probably get along so well because we DO NOT live near each other

SO glad Christmas is over; too damn much work for me. Some of my friends/family do not have much in common, so I got out old pic albums, and played an old family video...common ground for all to relate to.
We did have a nice quiet day, tho busy with prep, til 2 PM. Then it got crowded
Tomorrow is tree-stripping day.

Montana, your Gbrats have the most gorgeous eyes. Lil Nick is already a heart-throb.

Barb and Julie, I also used to give noisy presents to my GBrats...take 'em home!
Yahoo on the Hot Springs...Mother Naure's natural therapy.

SuSUN, I hope your first Christmas with Ella was the long -anticipated dream for y'all.
Even tho your phone bill will be high, can't think of a better way to spend money.
WAAAAAAY back,(30-40 years) I recall we seldom made long distance calls, and kept them short...they used to be super expensive, compared to now.
(Would that be Roy ORBISON????)

Loretta, are ya getting a tad of cabin fever? I like staying home by choice, but resent the "have to" stuff. Hoping your house damage is minimal, and easily fixable..

Just want to report: I did NOT have any wine/booze on Christmas day...since my self imposed limit is 2 drinky-poos annually, I had already used up 2004 AND 2005 quota. (Native blood + booze=misery)

To ALL, Blessings and contentment.

Shawnee
