MVM Thursday

Good morning kiddies...
today and tomorrow with no cheese.. Good timing: cheese is a phelgmy food that makes a cold seem even worse. Hey, even Bob joined us and that's SOMETHING because his favorite lunch is a toasdted plastic-cheese sandwich- I've said Sayonara to them many moons ago...unless we find some nice cheap Swiss (doesn't happen often.)

Vicky coming over this afternoon and Bob has to do the cleanup.

Linda,
So glad that you're going to apply watchful vigilance. Any doctor who would operate on a 2 cm. abdominal aorta would open himself to charges of malpractice. An aorta that small poses ZERO risk. So you're too small for that French tickler, eh? Let us know what the found in you urine...a toy boat perhaps? You might need more Septra.

I think I have voted my last time last month. If the machines won't count them, what's the point. Let Diebold just appoint the president and save us all a lot of blather. Another faceless fascist is what we'll have from here on out.

I hear you on the tinnitus. It's my constant companion but wow, ONE Allegra and it's fire sirens all day. Switched to chlorpheniramine maleate which is pure antihistamine...sleepy time but with a clogged nostril. Maybe one ALLEGRA extended release in the morning and then Chlortabs (Thank you Bob for toddling to Target for me!)

Happy Festivus eveybody...that's the holiday for the "Restofus."...ala George Costanza's dad.

Morning gang!

SuSUN, I can't believe it gets that cold -- no wonder you want to go to FL.

Julie, thinking of you today!! Maybe just the thought of this day coming up has been made you feel more down!

Linda, it seems like a long time to me. I worry too much and want answers NOW!! How are you feeling about all of this?

Zip, me thinks it's tooooo cold here to eat cheese! Been good though -- I even surprise me

The feet and legs work today (after that hike). We don't have snow here on the ground -- just higher up.

I wonder if there are any more meds out there that will kill us.

Mornin' gang,

Brrrrrrrrrr it's cold out there! We have a dusting of sneaux even. Sheesh, I have to go to town today. Better wait a while and see if the roads melt a bit, with the rain last night there could be ICE!

All is well here otherwise.........

Good Morning Roger, Barb, Ginny and All that follow!

'Twas the second day of Christmas...and WE have freezing rain with bitterly cold winds this morning. There is a promise of a warm up this aft, then more sneux to add to the pile thats already down! Last day for shopping and it does this!

That is Wonderful News for Linda! Whew!

There are always miracles at Christmas, 1st with Buba, my DH and now Linda. We are all present and correct for another Christmas! YEAH!

I too get Tinnitus with Asprin. I sometimes get it with Tylenol even though the literature says otherwise. I have funny ears though, always had ear infections as a kid, small eustachian tube so all colds went to my ears. I now wear a hearing-aid in my left ear, and looks like I will need one for the right ear soon! Gets a bit frustrating at times, when the battery is dying, and when people whisper!

Loretta,
YUK! on the late charges, doesn't that just burn you?
I put all my bills on automatic debit so they are paid on time and I dont have to remember them. You still have a record on the bank statement and on the individual company's bill. Just set up a line of credit with checking and have them debit that account, then you can transfer the money back online. Just my two cents!
How is your weather today?

Ella slept in her crib for the first time last night. Yeah! a little bit of freedom for DD! She seems to have outgrown the bassinet, it was handy for the early morning wakenings for DD not to have to get out of bed just to soothe her with a hand and pacifer. Now she has to get up, not sure how that will work at 4a.m. LOL!

Hopefully I can make this day more productive than of late!
More wrapping and last minute chores are on the agenda.
Babysitting at 4p.m. agin!

L8ter,

SuSUN!

Morning all,

Roger, cheese isn't bothering me either. ONLY 62 hours and 30 minutes to go!!!
Hope you are feeling a little better today. Enjoy Vicki today. I don't mind the cooking as long as I have someone to do the cleanup and DH usually is very good at it. Yeah for Bob!!

Barb, thanks for the hugs but it's not that bad. Mom died 15 years ago. It was hard for a long time, being as it was 2 days before Christmas but I'm ok now. I'm doing fine.
I think on the drugs....wait til next week and they'll change their minds. Anytime they come out with something new about food etc. thats what Chuck says.

Ginny, Geez, snow??? In Tenn????? Hope ya'll have some coats to put on!

SuSun, love your name this time of year!! I KNOW you guy's have coats!! Keep warm kiddo!
DH has Tinnitis too. He says he takes Sudafed and never noticed any difference. He also takes an asprin every other day. Hmmm never made any connection.
It's really hard for Mom's to let go of the apron strings. Hopefully Ella will sleep a little better in the crib. I can remember getting up in the middle of the night and putting that pacifer back in. I always figured if they were really hungry, they wouldn't go back to sleep! They usually did.

Have a good day all. Son and family coming for dinner. Fixing Prime Rib. Never have done one before. Any hints? Thought I'd just roast it at 350 for 32 minutes an lb. for med. rare.

Julie,

Don't go QUITE so long on the Prime Rib- use an oven temperature and go for 130-135F for medium rare...
For what they cost, don't overcook it...even the Gods would cry!

You made my stomach rumble!

Quote:
Cooking at a constant oven temperature of 300°F (160°C), a 5- to 8-lb standing rib roast will take 17-19 minutes per pound for rare, 20-22 for medium rare, 23-25 minutes for medium, and 27-30 minutes for well done
That sounds about right.

Hi to all

Just checking in here from the blizzard state of Ky. Interstates have lots of stranded motorists. Most of the help has gone to help them and our roads will probably not be cleared for a good while. In the mean time I am clearing a path in the driveway so we can get out eventually. A record of 14 inches of snow.
Our pastor cancelled the midnight services for Christmas eve. we will have church on Christmas day at 9 am. Hope we can get out by then. It looks doubtful today. Thanks God for letting us keep our power. We are safe, warm and can cook.

Good news Linda, my thoughts were leaning that way also to just keep an eye on it. That is not very big and I am surprised that they found it at all.

Julie our paths have crossed. My mom died this date in 1987 and my Dad's birthday was the 21 of Dec. My mom had a second stroke that was fatal. for each other. My dad died an early death at 56, massive heart attack. Enjoy that Prime Rib dinner. Just what I would really enjoy. If we can't get out of here I am going to roast a chicken for us on Christmas day.

SuSUn I am surprised that Ella is just now getting to her crib. I first thought that they had her in bed with them. Leah does fine in her crib and goes to sleep without any fuss. The kids are in their new house since the night before last. DS only has 2 days off and has to work on Christmas, so not sure when we will get together, esp with this weather. I too do that with my bills but I don't think the county is ready for that just yet.

Ginny, lucky you. We have lots of ice under that 14 inches of snow. DH says some of that stuff has to come off the roof too. Not sure how I will handle that. Do you have a few days off here for CHristmas? I am so happy to be retired and not have to worry about having to go to work.

Zip my bp is not under control yet even with that slug of rx. Maybe I need more time on the Lotrel. That is the same drug co that makes Linda's Diovan. What are you cooking for Vicki?

Hi to Shawnee and Jacki. Enjoy this pre-Christmas quiet. We are on the countdown.

Later folks
Loretta

to you too Loretta! Please be careful in that snowfall. I can't even begin to believe you would consider going up on that roof girl!!
Why is it so hard for some of you to get the bp under control. My gf is going though the same thing with her drugs. She swears one of them has caused her blood sugar to raise and is now considered pre diabetic and on a special diet. Tried to convince her LC but she goes by the what her dr says....15g carbs 3x a day. Hmmmm

Hi Shawnee! Can't remember the year but our Alberson's roof collapsed one winter. Must be the one you mentioned. I had to put a hard hat on and go in and help get our (American Greeting) product out of there. The store closed and never opened up in the location again.

Just heard 8 of the soldiers who died in Mosul were from Fort Lewis, just 20 miles from us. This community is devasted right before Christmas. Keep them in your prayers if you are christian.

HI again

I don't plan on getting on the roof. My plan is just to pull some of the snow down. Our roof is not that tall. I am quitting for today though with promise of a nice backrub. Have more driveway to shovel but it can wait. I don't care that much if we can't get out. We have food and heat and each other.

Evansville where my son lives got 19 inches of this crap.
I have not heard from him today. My local son is able to drive back and forth betweeen the old and new house and is getting it all together. Back to work tomorrow for him. Not sure when we will get around to Christmas with them.

for all of those lost in Iraq and the continued fighting that goes on there. The poor families of those young boys.
When will that conflict end???

Hi everybody,

Ran out to Home Depot to check on some new blinds and a drop in electric range. YIKES those things are really expensive. My 18 year old Dacor is working but I'm getting tired of BLACK.

Took my mom to the used book store and browsed around. LOL Actually I came home with about 1/2 dozen, just enough to get me through a blizzard.

Thanks for all the well wishes gang. I guess I can wait until June to find out if it's grown any.

Roger,
Bummer on that sinus problem. They are a royal PITA. Hope you feel better soon. Just please watch those decongestants.

So is Vicki having her usual pound of pasta with no sauce?

Now you have gone and done it. Guess I'll take out a second mortgage and buy a huge prime rib. DROOL!

No toy boat but just a continuing infection. Darn it all. More Levaquan.

Barb, I'm beginning to think that most drugs will do us harm, if not kill us. Damned Pharmaceutical companies! They don't give a rat's Asz about us, just the money.

No snow I'm very surprised.

Thanks for your concern. I'm very fine now that the good doctor explained everything to me, and I'm very impressed that other vascular surgeons send him the "tough" cases.

Ginny, be very careful out there. Ice under a coating of snow is treacherous!
How's Bub doing today? We all need to hear how his recovery is coming along.

Susan, I hope little Ella loves her crib. Nick took a good week to get used to his.

Babysitting again? Wow you are a good grandma.

Julie, It's difficult to lose a parent near the holidays. My dad died 12 days before Christmas, 8 years ago. I'm fine with it now.

Counting the hours and minutes until you can have CHEESE:lol:

Enjoy dinner with your DS and family. We want to hear how the Prime Rib came out. What else are you having with it?

Loretta, my gosh you really got it down there. I've been watching the National news and feel so sorry for the people stranded out on the interstates and SLEEPING in their cars.

Aren't there and young kids in your neighborhood that will do the shoveling for you? We old gals shouldn't do that.

Shawnee, I can just imagine how awful the 18" of snow must have been for a town ill prepared to deal with it.

Are you busy baking and cooking for the holiday?

Off to catch up around here.

Oh Loretta, let someone else do that work!! It's not worth it to ruin your health. Now that was an order!!

We had a pleasant day going to the Hot Springs -- it was sooooooo cold that the steam didn't let you see the person next to you!! I thought he felt different!

Tomorrow I cook so Christmas Day I can enjoy my presents (I'm getting a PDA) and watch football -- surely someone is playing.

Sinus -- what a royal pain in the (head) !!!

Hey julie, I know you are busy -- but when you have a chance, ask Nick about Meth!!

Later,

Barb

Hey all,

Roads weren't too bad, but we stuck to the main ones when we went to town. Tomorrow should see the last of the crap off them. Just a dusting of sneaux, but all the rain we got yesterday could make things dicey tonight for driving. I am off today through the weekend, then next week I'll have another 3 day week. I could get used to that

Bub is about the same, but he did eat a large can of food this morning all by himself. We put it in a square shallow tupperware bowl and that seems to work better for him than his regular dish. He can chase the food into a corner and trap it there LOL Still hasn't said anything else, but he is eating his regular treats after potty runs (square crunchy ones) without hesitation, so the cheese is for us humans once again. ( I REFUSE to do without cheese!) He is still shaky, but subtly doing better. He pretty much just leans against us for steps, both up and down, so his balance is either getting a bit better or he's adjusting to a tilted world. Head tilt is still the same. There is a huge difference in his eyes from last week, they are much clearer and brighter now. He's always had very expressive eyes, and I'm glad to see that coming back!

Loretta, OMG on all that sneaux!!! You really hit it on the head--you're safe, warm, have food and most importantly each other. If you don't get to go out for the family gatherings so be it. You can have a contented Christmas just the 2 of you! Be extra careful with the shoveling etc!

Shawnee, I hear you on the huge sneauxfall shutting down a town. We had a huge blizzard (for here) years ago that dumped 12". I think there's one plow/sand truck in the county, and it had a hard time keeping up! It was a mess here for about a week! Are you all ready for the buffet?

Linda, sheesh on that infection lingering. I've never had one, but can imagine they are a major PITA to get rid of.

Julie, when we moved from MN, we did bring all our cold weather gear, so we have some warm stuff! Of course, since then we've added our current coveralls etc, but any heavy winter gear gets 'imported' LOL Back when we first moved here, we had to go back up north to get the horses after bringing the house stuff. We took my GF and her DS up there as they had never seen 'real sneaux'. My GF wanted to get her DH a good winter jacket for when he goes out on the tractor and we took her shopping up there. She found a really warm one for him (which he likes very much) but unless he's outside, he has to come out of it cuz it's TOO warm LOL

Zip, hope you're feeling better! Did you get the rest of the fiddling done with the elec. blankee?

Barb, I bet Hot Springs was pretty neat this time of year. Sounds like you're really enjoying your time off!

Susan, this has got to be a pretty emotional holiday season for y'all, the first one with Ella here. Y'all will have some wonderful memories of her first Christmas! Enjoy!

Well, all, off to lurk for a bit. Got my stuff all done that I can do tonight, so time to get LAZY!

Linda- Kinda figured that about the bladder infection. Have had enough of that to know. Now be prepared for yeast infection- it just goes on and on- doesn't it? I have found those Diflucan pills work good for yeast infection. Mayonaise, vinegar and dairy products will still set it off for me.
I think you and Bill(brother-in-law) will just have to wait and really keep on top of that vein bulge. I think you are in a far better area then Bill.
Is late -went to Williston today and oh what a nut house-only Wal-Mart around for 200 miles! One couldn't even get up and down the isles. Weather has turned really chilly--- -25 below tonight and down to -40 in some area with the chill factor. Still will get worse in this country before we see spring. January can bring -60 or lower with the wind. It is not nice!!
Merry Christmas to all of you -stay warm and have a wonderful time with family and friends!!! Patty

hi ya Patty, it's good to see you post here and we would love to "see" you more often. You have maintained for a very long time too so jump in anytime.

Hopefully your brother in law will find a really, really good Vascular surgeon like I did. Do an on line search for "Best Doctors in America"and see if there are any in the NW region. The book is really expensive but worth every penny. Have him ask lots of questions about the least invasive procedure and how many his surgeon has done.
E mail me for some links if you like.

YIKES you poor people in those northern plains get really, really COLD. Stay warm and safe and have a wonderful Christmas.
