MVM Wednesday :(
Good morning kiddies,
Not a good morning. I came down with a cold yesterday (explains 2 day headache) and cuddled up in the electri blanket...which blew out and now I think I have a tooth that's finally cating out it's death throes. Gee, and it's not even 7AM. I hope my holiday plans aren;t completely up in smoke. Linda, Good Luck at the sawbones today. More later after some coffee, some Benadryl and a fiddle with the controls on the blankee. |

Good Morning Roger and the rest of our gang!
Roger, I do hope that you are careful with that faulty electric blanket! Sorry to hear about the cold and the tooth. ![]() It is -13C presently, which is a great improvement for us of late. We have a promise of a high of zero C today! I've got the early wakening syndrome this week. Probably coming down from the recent worries of DH and the Christmas rush getting to me, and maybe some guilt of taking this week off work. Shawnee, So sorry to hear ya had to sleep the day away yesterday. The Ibu certainly helps there. No Ella has no teeth yet, just lots of drool and hand in the mouth lots. Linda, Sending postive thoughts your way today! Loretta, Where are you? Bin missing ya! Waving to the rest of our gang. L8ter, SuSUN |

Hi to all
I'm alive and . Been busy with the pc, decorating for Christmas at church (we could not find baby Jesus)trying to help DS and DIL move to new house. Forgot to pay the property taxes due on the 15 of this month. I made the check out early but forgot to take it there. So had to add $12 for late fees. We are in the middle of a winter snow storm. Ice last night the rain froze and today snow, lots of it. Cannot get out on driveway, ice. Predicting the worst storm we have had for quite a few years.Ginny are you getting this white stuff? Hope Bubba is still on the slow mend. You are doing all you can for him and mother nature will have to help him the rest of the way. Roger I hope you get yourself to a doc about that tooth before they all take off for the holiday. You sure have a lot going on there with feeling . Do you have plans for Christmas? Thanks for scanning the pics of your fur babies. They sure seemed to be enjoying life. Linda for you today at the docs. I think you will most likely get a simple solution. If they have to do a procedure most likely it will be local. Waiting for good news. Susun I'll take those low temps any day over this snow and ice. We are grounded. Ella should be getting some teeth soon. Leah can eat small pieces of cereal now and graham crachers. She is on whole milk now, but does not like it. She uses a sippy cup most of the time. Glad to hear that the serious stuff has been ruled out for your DH. Any mention of the statin drugs causing his problems? Jacki good to see your posts again. I know you are enjoying your time off. thanks for the on the caffeine. Be careful with your travels. You sure are enjoying those DGKIDS. WTG. Barb glad to hear that your DD arrived safely despite all of those inconviences. Glad her friend is nice too. How old is that gal that is having the drug problems. Can she not be taken away from her mother? So many problems caused by those drugs. Withdrawal must be one of the worst experineces around. Enjoy your fancy free time off and your DD's visit. Shawnee sorry that you had an achy day. Were you taking any of the arthritis drugs before this latest scare about them? Dh takes tylenol for arthrits and alternates with ibuprofens. He is not always pain free but I think the combination helps. Now his knees are bothering him a lot. Funny that Chuckster does not like dogs after having Shawneesioux around for so long. I agree with your thoughts on letting Chuckster have some peace in his old age. Julie hope your knee is feeling better now that the cortisone has had a chance to work. Has it felt better since you are not working and aggrivating it any more? for you and your spirits. Later folks, |

Hey y'all,
We're doing just fine here, it's warmed up and yesterday was 53 degrees after that awful deep freeze we endured. Go figure! Pupdate: Bub is now feeding himself! Yesterday was the first day he showed good interest in his food, other than the gravy. DH opened up a can of chicken dog food, and the ol' nose got to workin'.....DH held the bowl so he could sniff and CHOMP! he dug right in! Of course the chicken slabs stuck together a bit so DH had to separate them and hand them to Bub, but he ate them like treats Then, last night after I got home, DH was setting food up for the other 4 and when he opened up the dry food tub guess who's ears perked up? Yep, someone was hungry again, so another can of food down the hatch with me only having to separate some chunks so he could make a 'hole' and get to the food. Only 2 pieces had to be given to him--he still can't chase them around the bowl for very long, but he sure ate well. This morning he ate 3/4 of a can (large can) by himself, then DH fed him the rest. I think he was full, but he got it all anyways Susan, on your bitter cold temps! I remember one time in MN it was -45F with wind chills down to -70. You know it's bad when the weather people say to not go outside with exposed skin! Even during that cold, we still had to go to work Sure hope the warming trend stays with you! Wonderful on the news of your DH! Jacki, sounds like you and DGD had a GREAT day together! I envy the kids with grandparents that could do things like that with them--mine were not very mobile, nor were they of the mindset to just enjoy us as y'all enjoy yours. Enjoy your freedom these next few weeks! Zip, ick yuck on the cold, and shame on the elec. blankee for letting you down at this critical time! Get a new one.....don't be repairing an old one, I'd worry about fire hazard! Sure hope you're feeling better soon! Linda, what a beautiful setting you used to work at! That building is really something. Not many pieces of architecture like that around anymore. As little bitty as you are, it's hard to imagine how you could handle the residents there.....you must really have learned all the physical aspects/techniques well to be able to take care of yourself. Glad you're enjoying the RAV4--never been in one of them, but they are cute! Loretta, you were sure brave going out for the walk during that cold stuff! The lack of wind does make a huge difference, but it was STILL FRIGID!!!! Good luck working the rest of the bugs out of your new XP toy. Barb, on that girl coming down from the Meth! Did they have to hospitalize her? That drug is so very scary since it destroys brain cells the second it's used, and one never knows WHAT will be destroyed. I sure hope they have removed her from her home situation with a mother like that. Poor kid doesn't stand a chance otherwise. Enjoy your well-earned time off, and glad DD's friend is a good one!Shawnee, I agree on your woodshed trip theory for politicians.....maybe if they knew they would be accountable, we'd get some good ones in there and the bad ones would leave! Those service dogs are something else! I bet you fell in LOVE with that pup immediately if not sooner I don't think I could do that, I get too attached to my furkids and wouldn't be able to give one up. Julie, has the knee been improving with the cortisone? Sure hope that works for ya, DSisIL had good results, even though the proceedure has to be repeated periodically. Are you all set for the holidays? Well, all, off to get my shower and get moving.........

Hi Susan, loretta, Ginny,
I'm feeling SLIGHTLY better since I dug out some old ALLEGRA-D Extended Release (antihistamine + decongestant.) I can;t even remember why it was prescribed in 2002 according to the bottle. I polished the copper plug ends between the long wire from the thermostat to the plug in the blanket with an emory board and a tiny round file. There was JUST enough of an oxide coating to impede the flow of enough current. It's working better. I may need to buff the contacts in the thermostat, too, but I;ll wait and see. The theing clicks on and off proabaly 500 times every night, and that's ttough on any contacts. Loretta, If I feel up to it we're going to a lovely dinner party in the Riverdale (nice) section of the Bronx. Leep fingers crossed for me. Lordy, You guys down South get a winter storm and we have 50%deg; and sunny right now...55 predicted tomorrow (with some spotty showers.) Go figger? Ginny, So glad Bub is making a recovery. Susun, Lucky Ella: NO TEETH! It seems to be the way we start and the way we FINISH! (If God truly loved mankind, he'd have given us Stainless Steel TEETH!) Barb, From the little I know about chrystal meth, I think it's pretty much 28 days in a treatment center. I'm an expert, however, on the amphetamines of the '60's diet pills (I went 5 days on an hour's sleep once in College) but I think the crystal meth FEELS so much better and thus is more of a problem. Our days of "clubbing" are over but I hear that crystal is the drug without peers for gay "parties"--like sex with 200 of your closest friends! (ahh, the good old days!) PSSST, It was the sinus over my left cheek that hurt, not the tooth <worry worry worry> ...WHEW. The ALLEVE cured it. Neighbor just popped in with A CARROT CAKE; some neighbors you GOTTA love!

Hi Y'all
on the flip-flopped weather conditions. Mild here in Pacific NW, compared to the South. "Possible" sneaux around Christmas for us..Loretta, I sure hope your conditions clear up enough soon so you can drive if necessary. No, I don't take any of the rx arthritis stuff the Doc prescribed...too scarey for me, and the only thing I take daily is for my thyroid. I'll put up with a lot of pain before I pop a pill...and like your DH, I rotate with the OTC stuff. When the chips are really down, Bob has Ibu 800s that I resort to if necessary. OH, I lied: when I have a hive outbreak, I take hydroxyz pam, which knocks me on my butt...nothing else will work for me. I don't like being old in the cold. LOL, ShawnPup adored the Chuckster, and would sneak in as many slobbery smooches on his head as possible...before Chuck's wicked left paw-claws swiped at Pup's nose. Ginny, so good to hear Bub is mending more each day. I know your ol' Momma heart is relieved. A thought: y'all are probably giving him foods richer than he's used to, tempting him to eat...understandable!..but please think about gradually getting him back onto his regular diet, as the rich stuff can raise hell with his old system. Tell your DH I'm sending him a for being such a great caregiver too.Zip, good that you are feeling some better. LOL, your repair tactics are so like my Bob's...firm believer that everything can be fixed...most everything we have is "vintage" and been repaired to the point that not much of the "origional" remains. Hope you are able to get out for your fun evening. SuSUN, seems babies have very individual teething schedules...a few are even born with a couple teeth...Wicked on nursing moms! DSon got his first 2 around 4 months, DDaughter was much later. I liked those "freezable" teething rings to help them thru those times. To ALL, let's send positive thoughts Montana's way..and y'all have a good one . ShawneeLast edited by shawneesioux : 12-22-2004 at 11:39 AM. |

Me again!
A bit of a quiet day here, no extra running, and with Bub doing so much better he seems to be active (for him) then needs more sleep time. We're going in spurts here LOL Shawnee, I hear ya on the different/richer food. We will work him back into his 'normal' diet. All our gang, fortunately, have never shown any problems with food changes, and no trouble whatsoever with the people food they periodically get. Bub's fav is spaghetti, which he ISN'T getting now LOL The only picky eater in the bunch is Bub, so we've always gotten what he likes and the rest are happy with whatever he picks. I'm thinking on Saturday we will start adding in softened dry food to his canned and see how he does with that, gradually weaning him off the canned variety altogether.....but since he's so spoiled now, we may have to always give him a little canned! Linda, waiting to find out how everything went with the Dr. Good thoughts your way! Jacki, that coffee thing was a hoot. I want the I.V. too. DH NEEDS the I.V. variety LOL Gonna go check the weather forecast for tonight--how many layers will I require this time! |

My goodness -- we are active today!
Sounds like quite a storm brewing from NM all the way up to the midwest. Very, very cold and lots of snow.!! Loretta, you will probably be the worse off -- I KNOW KY cannot handle this. We went for a 4 hour hike today with the four of us!! Great exercise but.......I'm not sure if my legs will move tomorrow. We drove an hour south and went way back into some canyons. It was absolutely magnificent -- beyond words. Two hours in and two hours out! I wonder how Linda's doing......... The young lady "meth" is even worse -- it's not pure, and sometimes snorted. She is 18, but we did get some help from Social Services and a drug rehab counselor. But now, we have vacation until January 3. Waving to everyone -- to Linda (hope she doesn't need it).Barb ![]()

Hey Barb,
That LONG walk sounds really really nice...I envy you. Hey gang, It looks like we can throw out our ALEVE. Yep, heart attacks. I HOPE they don't find the same with ibuprofen. I need something stronger than aspirin when my joints get nasty...or at least equivalent to 16 aspirin which was the daily dose for arthritics before they invented indocin and ibuprofen. Imagine 16 aspirin a day! |

Shawnee, can you believe whats going on now? We have just had our second recount and one man one the first two votes and now the woman has won the hand recount by 10 votes but listen, now they say there are still another 700+ ballots to count tomorrow. Where are all these ballots coming from? Beats me. Mid way down this site gives us a look at this screwed up state.
http://www.king5.com/topstories/stor....36796f6b.html Barb, my God lady, you won't be able to get out of bed tomorrow. Well, good for you!!! Geez...I still can't believe you did this.

Geez, I just posted accidentally and had to delete it.
because I wasn't near finished. LOLDr. Roger was correct. Dr. Schwartz wants to watch it and do another scan June 22. He also said that since I'm a small person with small arteries the current French cath is too big but new and smaller caths are in the testing stage. He said the technology in Vascular surgery is skyrocketing. He also agreed to work with me and do any procedure with out a general anesthesia if at all possible, even a standard surgical repair. Real nice guy who takes lots of time with his patients. You aren't going to believe this. Got home to two messages on my machine from my Primary Care provider. He wants to 'talk" to me about my last urinalysis Had the infection and did a follow up after I finished the antibiotic. What now? Christ!Roger, It's good to hear that you are feeling better but please watch that Allegra D. It can raise the BP. Feel better so you can enjoy that dinner party. 16 aspirin per day would make my ears ring. Did that once when I had tendinitis in my neck. Motrin just came out so I was put on that. What a relief! You must be very handy to have around the house since you can fix almost anything. Glad the electric Blanket is in working order since another cold front is going to hit us in a few days. Susan, oh please don't feel guilty about ditching work this week. gosh you need time off. Hope you get more sleep tonight. Have a nice glass of wine before bed. Funny how kids get teeth at such different times. Nick is still chewing on everything. Hope they pop through soon. The poor things must be so uncomfortable. Loretta, Those late fees on unpaid taxes are awful!! I have to get mine paid by Jan 31 but they won't get it until the last day. Heck with them earning interest on our hard earned money.Goodness girl, you have been so very busy. When will your son be all moved in and settled? Hopefully by this weekend. Be very careful on that ice and snow. Gosh does your county have snow plows and salt trucks? Ginny, to you and DH for taking such wonderful care of Bubba. Its wonderful to learn that he is improving each day. Soon he will be back to his old self. Can't say as I blame you for moving away from MN -70 wind chill must have been just awful. Yeah the old Castle was a lovely bldg. but when I worked there, we only took classes there. Patients were located in other bldgs that met fire code. LOL had a few tussles with patients in my day and once had my jaw dislocated. I don't miss it one bit. Shawnee, aww I bet pup just loved the Chuckster. Funny how some dogs just LOVE cats. My brother's Golden just loved our Smokey. Do you want snow on Christmas? Hope you get some if you do. I'm with you on the darn meds. I take only what's necessary to control this asthma and now my damned BP. Ibuprofen and bed buddy if my ol bones act up. Barb, gosh where do you get your energy? That canyon hike must have been lovely but exhausting! Can't that girl just be admitted to a long term drug rehab? Some in our area are forced by the courts and others just admit themselves for various reasons. Usually because they are in some kind of trouble. Julie, the recipe you posted on the golden looks wonderful!! I'm going to try that soon. MOTHER OF PEARL!! I just read the article about your gov. race and am shaking my head in disbelief. WTH is wrong with these people? It must be the damned lawyers pushing for these recounts. I'm off to catch up and check on Gerard's cheese cake making. He is trying one of Beach Girls recipes and will take one to his brother's house Christmas eve and one to my DD's Christmas day. Later. |

Hi again Y'all
Montana, . Glad your trip/visit went well, and your Doc was human! Now, what's up with the "old" stuff re your previous infection??? Blessings! I'm kinda torn about the wishing for sneaux thing. Lovely tho it is, it makes traveling a mess, especially on Holidays. (and selfish me, Kaci and I wanna go to Portland for 1/2 Price $ales the day after Christmas) Guess we'll get what we get, Mother Nature has the final say. Can't do Aspiren...gut burn! Keeping Baby aspiren in house and rigs.... I think the study on ALeve was really high dose, extensive long term...may be ok for "short term, now and then" ?? BeachGirl's Cheesecakes are the BEST! Y'all know I always change every recipe ...well, her Basic is perfect as written...(the one sub is to use 1 C Davinci for the Splenda to save 24 carbs)..the texture/taste still turns out perfect. I just add in whatever flavorings, etc I want to the Basic. Barb, was this hike in the sneaux? You must be in great shape. You are in perfect Christmas Country. (Do I hear John Denver in the background?) Aw, Good Mom Ginny...shoulda known you are on the right track re Bub's feed. At times, I've been guilty of being "too good" to my sick furkids. Hell, I'd try to buy the Moon and grind it up, if I thought it would make an appetizing tidbit for an ailing critter. Pedialite got us thru some rough times. HEY, does anyone know the TRUE facts on this MERRY CHRISTMAS VIRUS ? Heard that it comes as an E mail, using the addy of someone you KNOW...and the Subject has Merry Christmas in it??? Is it the Attachment that is the "bomb"? Julie, I'm beginning to wonder: Why bother voting ? Perhaps I should have just burned my Mail-in Ballot, and saved the postage. ( or ripped it into two pieces, and told the top Contenders to use it for potty paper) To ALL, have a good night. ShawneeLast edited by shawneesioux : 12-22-2004 at 10:40 PM. |

LOL Shawnee, if you hadn't voted, it might've made a big difference in this election. DH and I cancelled each other out.
Linda, so are we to be happy with this dx or not? I guess he doesn't think it's of too much concern if he's not going to do a follow up til next June? Dang, what does that Primary doc want??? |

YIKES Shawnee, it's true.
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1741006,00.asp Be advised people, I will not open any Christmas greetings that contain attachments. I know what you mean about snow for Christmas. It's beautiful if only it would stay off the roads. You are very brave to do the half price sales on the day after. I may go Monday when most people are working. I'm with you on buying the moon to help our wonderful fur babies and would do anything for them. Got lots of catching up do do, so see everyone tomorrow. |

Julie it's serious, but the dangers of any procedure outweigh waiting to see how big it grows. Generally they only grow a little per year but not always. If it has grown in June, then surgery is going to be considered.

Well, the weather is gonna get ugly. Loretta, batten down the hatches, girl! We're going to get the deep freeze over Christmas. Tonight it's still raining, but up in Crashville I've heard it's freezing rain/sleet and terrible. We're south of there, so maybe that part of it won't hit here.........we're supposed to get some sneaux as temps drop, who knows if it will materialize.
Shawnee, I'm as guilty as the next furmom about babying a sick kid..... Bub's gonna be rotten by the time he gets better! Moon, stars, just about anything to make one of them feel better Canned food has always been a treat for our gang and they sure do love it. There's not much we haven't let the dogs taste (except sugar and stuff like that, barring a counter-surfing expedition) and we did find that Bub does not like pickles, but Bull does. We split a hamburger between those 2 one time, and Bub spit out the pickles. Bull promptly ingested them, but she'd eat anything that isn't nailed down if you let her.Linda, glad that Dr. took time to really TALK to you, that's rare! Now to find out what the primary has to say, why do they have to be so cryptic? I'm with y'all on not taking pills. Back a few years ago when I had surgery on my wrist, they gave me Darvocet. I had 30 of them, I think, and 29 ended up getting thrown out as they had expired years later I reckon I have a pretty good pain tolerance, but will take good old ibuprofen if needed.Well, I'm off to lurk for a bit. Everyone have a good night! |
