MVM THURSDAY, 12/16

Good morning...

A chilly 28 here right now. We were hoping for a freebie show this afternoon but it isn't materializing, so we are braving the icy inland hinterlands and catching the PATH train to Newark for a trip to the Newark Museum...they are having a show on the art of the last Czars with some Faberge Eggs.
Here's a couple pictures of some of the most beautiful objects ever created by the hand of man:
http://users.vnet.net/schulman/Faberge/eggs.html#azova

It's gonna be a COLD last leg of the trip which we usually walk but tody I might scope out the right bus instead.

Linda,
Try one more thing:
Go to the same Internet Options page and click the SETTINGS button in the TEMPORARY FILES section and slide the slider BIGGER....maybe twice as big as now but at LEAST 400 Mb. After that, I'm out of ideas (but I'll keep searching.) I really think it has something to do with your Temporary Files...perhaps some virus or worm is preventing deletion. As a double check, after you DELETE your TEMPORARY FILES right click START>>EXPLORE>>WINDOWS>>right click TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES>>PROPERTIES and check to see the size in Mb to check whether they were indeed removed (or at least reduced to a few mgabytes.) Maybe do the check both before and after you DELETE FILES.

Girls,
Enjoy the last cheese day today, for tomorrow we stop being mice and become MEN (well, generic MEN!)

Time for first Java!

Hey all,

Cold and sunny here for us. Been pretty cold here at night, in the 20's last night. Night before was in the teens brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Bubba has only made a little bit of progress. We are having to use a towel as a sling for the front end to help him walk, but he didn't seem quite as shaky when I took him outside this morning for a potty excursion. He was able to stand, leaning against me, without the back end shaking too much. We will be contacting the vet to see how we're doing on the timeline of recovery. Doing the math, Bub is the equivalent of a 78 year old person, so I know it will take a while for him to get better. We're still a ways from being out of the woods, but remain cautiously optimistic.

Hope all are having a content day! More later if time permits......

Roger, the Faberge Eggs are fabulous!! I wish I could see them in person!! Enjoy!!
One more day of CHEESE!! With my antibiotic I can't have dairy til 2 hours after the dose or 6 hours before. Soooooo this limits my cheese today. Guess I'm weaning myself off gradually. Don't ya hate these addictions???

Ginny, sorry Bubba isn't getting better as fast as we thought. I'm glad you're calling the Vet back and finding out if this is the normal progress. Let us all know. I know you must be worried sick as we all are.

Off to Ortho today and a massage afterwards. Will let you know how it turns out.

Hi everybody,

Just talked to the car salesman and the ins. co. did fax the necessary papers to them. The Rav4 is being inspected right now and we will be able to pick it up late today or tomorrow at the latest. Just in time for the snow that is expected.

Roger, WOW!! those Fabergé eggs are absolutely stunning!! Enjoy that show even though it's in Newark

There is nothing left after I delete files, cookies and run the Pro version of Tracks Eraser so I just don't know. My slider is at 2040 MB

Anyhoo, everyone should install the 15 day trial version of Tracks eraser. You won't believe what is left over after deleting cookies and temp. files. YIKES!! I was so impressed that I bought the pro version. Microsoft doesn't do a very good job at all.

Ginny, Poor Bubba. It's going to take some time for the poor ol guy to recover from that. Give him a hug from me.

Cold here too but it's warming up to the high 30's or low 40's today.

I'm off and running but shall return later.

edited to add Hi ya Julie. Yes do let us know what the doctor says. Good luck dear.

Just got an e-mail confirming our show freebie tonight (not this afternoon.) So we are putting the Newark Museum on hold.

Linda, what an ADORABLE car, what did you get rid of?

That picture is taken on our walkway just down the block!

Ginny, sorry that Bub is still shaky...any meclizine prescribed? (I think even OTC dramamine would be a big help.)

Julie,
Let's clear cheese from our brains: I had Lox/Bagel/Cream Cheese/Spanish onion for brekkie today.:

A quick hello and then off to wrapping and getting ready to mail some packages.

Linda my friends have a Toyota Rav but I don't think they have 4 wheel drive since we don't really need it here in Ky. It is a neat small SUV. I have riden in theirs several times. I like it. Now let the snow fly, well after you take possession.

Zip thanks for the pics of the Faberge Eggs. Just beautiful works of art.

Julie I eat cheese a few times a week but try to stick to one serving of string cheese. I nuke it for a while and it is nice and soft. Will be waiting to hear what the ortho says.

Ginny just give Bubba lots of time. It does take longer to recuperate at that age. Dh took quite a few months himself. But slow progress is better than no progress. He is not in pain is he?

Had a busy morning helping DIL move two truckloads of stuff to the new house. They sure are wanting to get in by Christmas. DS's place is still on strike so it is going to be hard. Hope they get a mover for the heavy stuff.

later ON the new PC and getting more accustomed to it now.

Just got back from Ortho. Good news, bad news...

No surgery! It's arthritis and they feel now, arthoscopic doesn't relieve much if there is so much arthritis. So many suggestions plus he gave me a cortisone injection. Told me about other injections called Synvisc and is a knee lubricant. Unfortunately, my HMO doesn't cover the ...ta da...$800.00 for 3 shots. Wowsie... Can get the med over the internet from CAnada for 1/2 the price. I'll think about it but see if the cortisone works for hopefully 6 months. Knee replacement is inevitable, like my sister and brother. I did start the Glucosamine and Chondrotin, lots of calcium. Vit.C and all that good stuff. No mall walking but a good soft track. Or a bike, swimming etc. So thats it for now. We'll see.

Barb, I have been getting massages for my muscle spasms in my back. Almost done and do feel better. Man, am I falling apart. But hey, no high blood pressure or high cholesterol!!!! So I'm not all bad!!

Gotta run, appt with Nicks consulor today about a few issues.

Linda

I love your new vehicle!!! Kinda reminds me of my little 4 wheel drive . It is the same color too. The one I got in Florida is a Nissian-Exterra- sunroof, rack on top. Like I have never used the sunroof yet. It took us a while to locate a 4-wheel drive in Florida-lol-! But really a necessity out here in Eastern Montana in the Winter time. I just love it- dust kinda sifts through on the gravel roads and I would have likes a bigger gas tank. So far so good with it. Have to drive either to Minot,ND at 160 miles away or Billings,Mt. 300 miles to get any problem fixed if ones occurs. I think I have the only one around for 300 miles. Enjoy-what kind is it??? Patty

Me again,

Roger, we didn't get rid of anything but the truck needs a head gasket and new radiator and it's too cold for G. to work on it now. sniff, I love that truck.

Glad you got the freebie but do go to the Newark Museum asap. That exhibit must be spectacular!

Loretta, Gee I hope your son and DIL do get some big, strong young guys to help move the big stuff. Don't hurt yourself doing anything foolish. We aren't spring chickens anymore.

Hi ya Shawnee back at ya.

Julie, bummer on the knee dx. I would buy that Synvisc in Canada and have your doctor do it. I know several people who have had it injected and they are doing great.

Barb, what's the hurry? Are ya real busy?
I love Cheese too but don't eat a lot of it for some reason.

Patty, good to see you post.
Glad you love your little SUV. but you do need a bigger gas tank in that country. LOL I remember once driving from Miles City toward Billings and wanted to fill the tank up but Gerard said oh not yet, there are lots of exits of the interstate. LMAO YEAH, Ranch Access ONLY! We were driving on fumes when we pulled into a station just outside of Billings.

This little thing is a Toyota AWD Rav4. Nice little winter beater. It's not new but a few years old and will do us well until we get a new vehicle.
