Saturday, Dec 11 for the MVM

Hi gang,

Thought I'd start this off, I'm relatively coherent on my 2nd cup of caffeine

Tomorrow is DH's bday...reckon I'll have to call in his fav pizza for the football game

LOL on the cardiologist's funeral!!! That's a hoot!

Seems like I'm not the only victim of the thief at work. One of the guys in the quality lab had some prescription antibiotics stolen from his desk drawer on the same day, and he works day shift! I'd really like to find out who our thief is.....that will be the most expensive bag of cheese/partial prescription ever stolen! From now on, my lunch will be locked up in my locker (with a cold pack as needed) or left in my truck. Any personal items like my little bag with OTC meds (I'm the 'plant pharmacy') will be locked up. I hate that I have to do that, but until our rat is eradicated, that's how it will be and no one will have access to my stuff.

Good for you, Julie, on making the decision to be happy for the day! Shawnee's story is great to remember, as we CAN take control of how we act and react, even though it feels overwhelming! When it gets beyond that and we need a shoulder, we know then that we will find that shoulder!

Loretta, WOOHOO on the new toy! Take your time to set it up the way you want it, no need to rush. We'll be waiting a while (hopefully) before we give in and get one here. The old gal ('puter, not me LOL) is still going pretty strong even if slower than the new critters

Linda, yep, wierd weather all 'round. We even had pea sized HAIL here yesterday! That's scary stuff, with the greenhouse and all. Luckily it wasn't like a couple years ago where the hail was so large that it trashed the gh roof! Next year we plan on re roofing the gh and modifying the pitch, but in WARM weather!

Shawnee, glad you got your tree! Even if it isn't the EXACT type you wanted, I'm sure you got a gorgeous one! How does the Chuckster feel about having a tree in his house?

Zip, has it ever been discovered what chemical in chocolate or apples triggers migraines? You've said in the past that white chocolate doesn't bother you, what is the difference in the two types, chemically?

Barb, enjoy those programs.......I remember them from eons ago when I was in school and it was pretty much parents and whichever siblings of the kids they could drag with them Big to-do's for the participants!

Susan, babysitting this weekend?

Well, better get moving--still in my BATHROBE this morning! All have a great weekend!

Hi Y'all

Julie, I sure loved the punch line of the Cardio joke! Thanks for the Chuckle
I'm CHOOSING to think Positively today...(even tho my day includes Suzy work...)

Aw, Ginny...seems most Theft Crimes these days center around Drugs, either directly or indirectly. Must be miserable, knowing there's someone in your workplace who's an a$$hole.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your DH

Hope ya both enjoy his day.

The Chuckster usually likes having a tree...well, he likes the presents under the tree, as they make good napping areas for him. If he decides to follow his usual MO on that, I'll try to get a pic.

As Barb had mentioned, the Christmas music we had (in days of old) in school programs is now a No-No. Personally, I find that sad...even tho I have to (sorta) respect the reasoning behind it.
One of my fondest memories as a HS junior Chorus member was in the darkened auditorium, singing the Hallelujuh Chorus from Handel's the Messiah...we all had goosebumps and misty eyes.

Think I'll put on some Christmas music now, to keep SuzyHomemaker's nagging voice away ...

To ALL, have a content day. Will be back later.

Morning all!!

Another splendid morning, the sun is shining, GLORY BE, and I've made another decision to be happy. Hey, this is working, maybe better than the drugs. I need to do some searching about "situational depression." Thanks for all who are putting up with me. Those shoulders of yours are sure big, thank you.

Ginny, this thief is something else. Maybe need to leave something out to lure him so you can catch the sucker. I can understand the drugs but the lunch....he must have been darn hungry. I bet you all are on edge not knowing who it is. Watching your back can get wearisome.

Loretta, I changed to XP when I bought my DELL and I had no problems with it. I'm not too savvy with computers stuff but I've come a long way baby!! I guess since I didn't know too much, I got along just fine with mine.

Really want to download the Service Pack2 and did once til Linda said not to so deleted it quickly. So will wait for awhile.

Shawnee, hard to be happy doing Suzy work but good for you. I guess once we make up our minds to be happy, it makes it all worth it. Your house will look so good when you're finished.

I got my Christmas decorations up yesterday after shopping. Did I tell you that already??? Hmmm senior moment here...

Later...

Hi everyone,

LMAO Julie, I LOVED the "cardiologist's funeral". Teehee.

Ginny, First of all, a BIG Happy Birthday to your DH. Pizza and football is just what they need.

Bummer on the thief at large. Does anyone have any ideas? We had one at the psych center so they put up little hidden cameras and caught her red handed. She was escorted out of the building and into the waiting arms of the police. Needless to say, she lost the job and was put on probation. Unfortunately she got NO jail time.
Hope you and your co workers catch the culprit.

Shawnee, It is sad that the kids can't enjoy all of the traditional Christmas songs in school. Fortunately in our little area, things haven't changed YET. But they do have celebrations during other than Christian holidays. Best of both worlds if you ask me.

LOL Can't wait to see Chuckster and the Tree. Inky used to do a job on the lower branches of our tree.

Suzy stuff is on my agenda too. UGH

Julie, SUN, SUN? What the heck is that?

Oh wait, my memory is coming back and I vaguely remember a bright light in the sky that appears around here every year or so.

Glad you are feeling better and have your decorations up. They do cheer us up.

Waving to the rest of the gang.
Off and running but back later.

Hi Ya Gang!

Just checking in, after we had a huge dumping on last night and today. DH is still not feeling the greatest, his legs still weak.
Anyhoo, we are both going out very soon to start to snowblowing and shoveling.

I did babysit from 4p.m last night until 10:30p.m.
I had a hairy drive home, even though I drove at 40Kms an hour and down to 20 in some places, kept losing control, drove into a skid and did a 360. Thank Goodness there was very light traffic on the roads. I turned around facing the right way and drove home very slowly. It took me about 40 mins but I got home safely.

DH has been napping alot lately, so he missed my hair raising event! I told him when I got home. I am getting concerned over him, he is not getting any better. I hope this last batch of blood work reveals something soon. Possibly viral or neurological, seems in the muscle of his legs. Not vascular had that rule out.

I have been busy getting all my cards and stuff off to the UK and locally too. The weather outdoor today is picture perfect for a Christmas Card. The Firs and Pines are heavy with boughs of snow, posts and railings with a huge pile sitting on top. All the trees looks so pretty with a fresh, heavy dusting.

Surprizingly enough, Oliver has been going out, it is when it is raining and bitterly cold he doesnt wanna go out.

That's my news for now.

L8ter,

Susan

Hi Susun, Linda, Julie, Shawnee, Ginny...and later to Loretta, Jacki-Lurki (Now WHO did I forget?)

Good day so far. Got all the paperwork done and copies of everything made...back from the A&P and a big BIG Stouffer's sale....turkey breast in the oven (14 months old)
. I got a great tip on TV las t week for carving: cut the whole breast off in one piece and then slice transversely AGAINST the grain...pieces stay together and aren't "stringy" looking.

Ginny it's the cocoa that's present in chocolate but not white chocolate...that's just sweetened butterfat. Of course the darker the chocolate, the more cocoa (and I love it almost BLACK.) My guess that the chemical offender is theobromine, but that's only a guess. I image cocoa is hideously complicated chemically. Must be to taste so good. (You have a VERY good memory on my distaste for white chocolate...yecccch, like Crisco)

Loved the proctologist joke....I imagine the dermatologist got sorta ill too...imagine being buried in a big suppurating pimple

Here's a good new DARWIN AWARD WINNER (Darwins are awarded to the people who make outstanding contributions to the human race by removing themselves from the gene pool):

Quote:
A terrible diet and room with no ventilation are being blamed for the death of a man killed by his own gas. There were no marks found on his body, but an autopsy revealed the presence of large amounts of methane dissolved in his blood.

His diet had consisted primarily of beans and cabbage, just the right combination of foods to produce a severe gas attack. It appears that the man died in his sleep from breathing the poisonous cloud that was hanging over his bed.

Had his windows been open, the flatulence wouldn't have been fatal, but the man was shut up in a nearly airtight bedroom. He was an obese man with an unlimited capacity for creating the deadly gas. Three rescuers became sick and one was hospitalized
and a shorty:
Quote:
Special Darwin Award to the man who thought his lava lamp was going too slow. He put it on the stove burner for extra heat. It EXPLODED and sent a sliver of shrapnel into his heart, killing him and thus removing his genes from the gene pool
Time for a steam and sauna...no workout today, only comfort...lots of body lotion!

My God, I agree that food prices, especially produce (like peppers) have gone out of site. I guess as this government slowly turns the U.S. dollar to CHARMIN, the price of anything grown overseas (like Peru and Chili for winter produuce) will soar ever higher and higher.
But even U.s. produced beef and chicken has gone up, up and UP!
Oh well, as the prices go up we can eat less and less to compensate. Good for all concerned!

Susun,
Here's a FREE small photoeditor that allows you to crop and re-size photos.

Loretta,
Do any of these turn you on. THe first is an external USB drive.

Thank you Roger,
I will save that link as I seem to need it, as some folks find the pics too big and others find them okay, not sure what is happening.

Linda also tells me to open a free Yahoo account too for other goodies, like fancy backgrounds. Sheesh! I am navigating unfamiliar ground here....kinda puts me off. I am a scardie cat!

Did you guys get any of the white stuff? Bin digging out for the last hour. We had about 8 inches. DH had the snowblower going and I did the shovelling, my back and arms atr a tad tired, hope it was a work out for me! Now where are those anti-inflammatories! I certainly warmed up quickly moving like that.

Love those funnies and inspirational stories that you guys have posted lately. I have been catching up on the reading.

Roger, it's a good job that guy was not enclosed in that room with a cud chewing cow too......extra methane, to see him off more rapidly.

To Ginny's DH, another December birthday! I think there are several of us on this BB with Dec-Jan Birthdays!
Yuk! on the lunch theif. At DH's work they had one guy that kept taking the other guys lunches. They knew who it was, so they got together and put cat food spread thickly on white bread in a nice clean baggie and he took it and ate it. The stealing stopped, another guy made the same sandwich with dog food, which the guy ate and didnt even notice. They all could keep their faces straight and kept giggling and going woof, woof. The guy still didnt catch on. Needless, to say he lives in a half million $ condo.

Julie,
Sorry to hear about the negative letter. Keep those thoughts positive and do choose that great attitude that you usually have!
What is Bo having for Christmas? I think Oliver is having another expensive visit to the vet for his skin dryness, itchiness, his yearly shots and ofcourse the new toy for being a good boy at the vet.

Shawnee,
Thank you for sanctioning the sewing machine for me but I have warned them all off, as I know they inflate the prices too much at this time of year, so I will take my chances out of season. Also, I need the time to research them properly.
LOVED the attitude choice story. I have seen it before and loved it, and feel it is well worth the go around again, so I have sent it on to many.

Where is Loretta and Barb today?

Wavin to Jacki,

SuSUN

SuSun, Bo has a sock to hang and in it Santa will bring "GREENIES." Have you heard of them? Bo loves them but about $1.00 apiece at the pet store so I buy in bulk online. I cut them in half and it only costs about 20 cents. They are good for bad breath, edible, cleans tartar and plaque and no artificial preservatives!! They are big in the Bichon community. If you want links, write me and I'll tell you.
Oliver gets to go to the VET? Now what kind of a present is that?

Me again!

I braved the wilds of Murfreesboro, went to Lowes, Petsmart (for GSD niece and nephew), fueled up, Sam's and Old Time Potter (a strike out there) all in under 3 1/2 hours. This time of year that should be some kind of record. Now if we do our part here with the hand-made goodies, I will be able to send off the 3 boxes to the out of towners! Now to get my butt in gear for THAT!!!

Highlight of the trip was at Petsmart where I met 2 beautiful greyhounds! The female was brindle and the male was black with some white markings. She was a love-baby, he was quite shy, but I DID manage to get in some good petting with him before I was done Both dogs were from greyhound rescue, and their humans were very chatty about them. I was asked quite a few questions by my gang upon my arrival home as they always know I've been petting other puppies!

Sure felt good to get home tho, and now I don't have to go ANYWHERE for the rest of the weekend!

Off to lurk......

LOL, Ginny...the noses always know when you've been lovin' on strangers. Those greyhounds are sooo gorgeous..but if I had one, I'd ruin it by trying to fill out its belly area.

How did the Game and Pizza go?

SuSUN, interesting bout the prices on hardgoods going UP right now for y'all. Grrr. We get some good $sales at Christmas...and especially the day after.
Geez, your poor DH, sure hope he gets some answers soon re his leg condition, how miserable for him.
We haven't gotten snow yet...usually only 3-6" when it does come.
Hope that "workout" doesn't hurt your back!
Maybe ask your DSiL to set you up with a Yahoo acct. Its great for sending/receiving pics, cause it automatically resizes them. I ask everyone to send them to my Yahoo.
Wow, your description of the snow on boughs makes me wanna head for your house. Hugs to Oliver.

Needed a snack, so dug around in the freezer and found some Flax muffins...damn, sooo good. Can't remember how I made them, too bad.

Zip, did you say FOURTEEN months on that frozen Turkey breast? Isn't it kinda...well...cruddy by then?

Where's LORETTA ????
Barb?
Lurki???????????
