FRIDAY for the MVM

Good morning from the first awake (the 80 mg. Inderal spoiled my sleep but aborted the migraine! )
Let me explain: in my 20's and 30's I was unable to eat the apples or chocolate in moderation because bothe were migraine triggers (same allergies as my mother.) Apples long ago got removed frome the list and I;ve enjoyed them every Autumn for the last decade. Welll, yesterday we bought some dark chocolate truffles and had several after dinner. At 8 I peeled and ate 2 small Delicious Apples by 8:20 I started getting a blind spot surrounded by a few very recognizable neon multicolored arrowgeads in a small arc. It kept getting bigger and bigger and was getting tunnelly. I took the 80 mg. and it aborted the headache except for very slight pain and the aura was gone by 8:45....whew! I'm glad I have a gentle remedy near at hand.
No more apple/chocolate combo for me...my sensitivity has returned.

Ginny,
Been hearing about the major Tennessee flooding. Fill us in on the personals. At least it seems fast moving (and we'll have the hard rain tonight!)

Shawnee,
Thanks for the nice story. Coincidentally, it falls SMACK in the middle of what I started doing since my week of doldrums last month. I self hypnostize before I get out of my bed and "suggest" that I have the choice to be happy or miserable TODAY (to HELL with tomorrow), that I am Healthy and that I CHOOSE to remember it. That I have a wonderful lover and that I am ALIVE and abbulatory...
So I CHOOSE to enjoy the day!
It works.

Linda,
I promise to hook up the HP as SOON as I fill out our our lease renewal application. It's VERY complicated becaues we have a bit of a DEAL but we have to work for it once a year with reams of paper due next Wednesday!

My sewing machine theory. As the sewer in my house I feel I am entitled to a sewing machine of my choosing. Anyone who resists the idea can merrily buy one for himself AND LEARN TO SEW MY JEANS, TAPER MY SHIRTS, and re-elastic his pajamas !
Now, a trip to FRANCE, THAT would be a luxury!

Happy Chanukka to everyone AND an nice weekend. (We are warm and wet!) Amazing, MANY roses are still blooming...in DECEMBER???

Good morning --

Shawnee, that was beautiful!! Just what I needed!

The little christmas tree story with the angel will be my next joke at our team meeting!!

Programs? Oh yes, we had art night where students and adults displayed their art and community members voted on best of show and stuff like that. They are all so much more talented than me.

Also, we had poetry reading night and drama skits by the drama club. It sort of reminds me of sitting in some coffee shop, dimly lit, with a cup of java in SF.

Next week is the band and choir Xmas thingy -- they don't let you do much "religious" stuff anymore. The younger the participants, the more it becomes "only a parent would come and listen" thing.

Have a merry day!! Barb

Mornin' all,

Looks like the rain has dissapated for now....it's been a really moist year for this part of the country, not sure how much more rain we've had this year, but I know we're way up. This summer I only had to water flowerbeds one time, and that is highly abnormal.

Last night I got a dose of sad reality......my lunch disappeared from the fridge in our office. I have no idea who took it, but I reckon I will have to keep anything under lock and key. It was a small baggie of some cheddar cheese sliced off a brick, for cryin' out loud!!! If someone was that hungry, all they had to do was ask and I would have shared or given it to them. *shakes head in disbelief*

Zip, I've heard about chocolate triggering headaches, but never apples. Is that a common trigger? My DSisIL has migraines that are triggered by MSG and also chocolate, along with the stress factor, so due to the MSG thing, I've been looking at labels for that too. Glad you're feeling better, those are NO fun!

Shawnee, that is an EXCELLENT story! Definitely one to consider when things happen and a mood choice is to be made. LOL on the early rise-n-shine.....I haven't been a morning person in many years, and could only achieve that with caffeine anyways! Large quantities of caffeine!

Loretta, WOOHOO on that new 'puter and the sewing machine! Enjoy them both! We've talked about getting a new pc eventually, but our almost 4 yr old Compaq is still going pretty strong, so we'll wait. We keep all pertinent info and pics on an external hard drive, so if this baby does crash and burn we still have it all.

Oops....got company.........will have to finish this later!

*runs to the door*

Morning from the land of the "PINEAPPLE EXPRESS." We are having torrential rains and warm, would you believe they predicted 60 for today, weather!! I think we'll float into another world right along with Ginny! Shawnee, hope you'll stay safe and get that tree.

Roger, Sorry about that migraine but thank goodness for your meds you had on hand. Looks like those apples and chocolate will have to be ingested in minute amounts.

Linda, I loved the angel and tree story too. I missed it somehow last night. It will be enjoyed by some of my friends. It made me smile.

Yep, I too woke up and decided to be HAPPY today. Good choice huh? Thanks Shawnee!!

Had 2 of the DGKids last night. 5 and 16 mo. The little one has a cold/cough and he didn't sleep well so neither did Chuck and I.
Got the tree up and decorated last night. Think I'll go finish up my shopping if I can today. I'm going to meet a friend for coffee/lunch too. Hope all this rain doesn't wash away some of the roads.

Barb, so when does your Christmas vacation start? Bet you'll be glad for the break.

Later....

OK Ginny, here are some solutions to your lunch problem.

1. Staple the bag shut
2. Tape it with duck tape
3. Did you have your name on it?

When all that fails -- put some poison stickers on it!! Works for me!

For pop, or other drinks, just put a tape a message on it that you spit into it!!

Barb

Well I'm here finally. Just a busy day and the computer did arrive but it was at supper time. Out of steam for the day and will be busy tomorrow, maybe Sunday I'll get around to fooling with it.

Shawnee I checked out that web site you posted for the blood pressure control. Pretty nifty, but why can't I just breathe slower on my own, deep breaths, relax. I imagine it would lower your bp for a while. Thanks for posting that info. Thanks for the christmas story.

Linda your Christmas story was great too Pretty funny!!!!

Roger I sure have not heard of apples and chocolate causing that migraine. Chocolate will get me for sure. Hope the apples don't start that because I love them with peanut butter. If my altace does not work in the next few days I'll have that doc on the line again. I will be out of samples soon. Maybe I should ask about a water pill. My sis takes atenolol 50 and a water pill every other day. Her bp was low.

Julie hope you had a nice day today with your friend. Has you rx kicked in yet? Hope you spirits get a lift soon. If you would get some sunshine there it would sure help.

Ginny hope you catch the culprit that took your lunch. That would get me p off. Has you rain let up?

HI to the lurki's.

Loretta

Loretta, I don't think the meds have helped yet. Yesterday I was a mess but after I read Shawnee's post last night, I'm a different person today. I got up and decided to be happy!!! I even put up Christmas decorations today after shopping most of the day. So do meds work if your depression is situational depression? I don't know the answer but will stay on it for awhile. I will choose to be happy for myself, DH, Nick and fluffdoggie. Hope the others will follow but I can't be responsible for them anymore, only myself. Thanks for asking and thank you Shawnee!!

Gee am I bringing up the rear again?Fiddled around all day and made a trip to the grocery store. BIG MISTAKE. I must remember not to go at the end of the week. It was mobbed and people are so darn rude.

Had a hankering for stuffed green peppers and bought a bunch of them since the price is finally down below $1.00. Last week the darn things were almost $3.00 per lb.

Roger, UGH sorry about all the lease paper work but well worth any monetary break you will get. I just can't imagine paying so very much for rent. Around here a luxury place goes for $600 and includes free parking. BUT we don't have that magnificant skyline.

Bummer on the apples and chocolate triggering those migraines. Especially CHOCOLATE.

Loved the Neologism contest winners. LMAO

Barb, some of those young student artists are so very talented as are the music students, but I hear ya on the little kids. LOL They are funny and try so darn hard though.

Ginny, Having ones lunch lifted is a common problem. Been there, done that. I finally found a little insulated bag with two zippers that came together and locked it with those tiny luggage locks. I think I found it at wal mart. Might be worth looking into.

Yeah, this has been a very wet year all over most of the country. Keep those feet dry.

Julie, aww poor little guy. Hope he is feeling better. Now watch yourself. Don't you get it. You just got over one not long ago.

Torrential rains here today too. What's with this weather?

Barb, great idea with the lunch bags. Although some people wouldn't care.

Loretta, I'm surprised that your doctor didn't try a diuretic combined with the atenolol before switching you to a new med. Call and ask him. Especially since the atenolol didn't bother you too much.
LOL Roger is right. I found socks lines today. UGH but at least my head feels less out of it.

Can't wait to hear all about that new computer once you get it up and running.

Waving to Shawnee, Jackie and Susan.

I'm off to check on how Gerard is coming with his Sponge bob's flax meal bread . I can smell it all the way down here.

Hi Y'all

Geez, almost 60° here today, with rain...melting the Mt. snows tho....rivers rising.

No, Montana...I'm bringing up the Rear...LOL

Good Luck with getting in to that Super- Doc. Hope you are feeling ok!
Even plain ol' green bell peppers are up to $1.29 ea here

Zip, good for you using the Auto-Suggestion Method, I like it too.
I can usually pull it off if Bob isn't snoring too loudly.
Yes, you DO have Blessings to count...sometimes I "forget" and then Life reminds me about them.

on those Daffy Definitions.

Golly Dang, sure glad that y'all liked the story bout ol' Positive Jerry. Sometimes certain simple notions just appeal to us, and cost nothing at all. Love it when that happens

Barb, so...you DO have a Life. Sounds like those Programs would be worth attending.
Let's add one more solution to Ginny's missing Lunch problem:
Ex-Lax in a piece of chocolate candy...the thief whould be the one
who's living in the Potty room.

Loretta..bout that BP thingamajiggy...I think its supposed to be individualized to each person...but YES, you are right; relaxation and slow deep breathing works too.
Take your time hooking up your new Toy, we will be patient...and you will be more accurate.

Julie, so true. Each person must be responsible for his/her own happiness. Glad to see ya being "chipper" again!
Blessings to that sick GBaby!

Ginny, so what's gonna be in your Lunch bag on Monday?
What's on the agenda for your weekend? How's things in the GH? Hugs to the FurKids.

We went this afternoon for the Tree. Of course it was raining...the type I like (Broadleaf fir) seemed to have some kinda "rust" disease on the needle tips, so chose a Grand fir instead. Its half-decorated, boxes of stuff all over the living room...and I'm pooped. Tomorrow is soon enough to finish it.

Hey to Gramma SuSUN, Lurki/Jacki..and Fav Lurker.

Content weekend to ALL.

Since we are all talking doctors.....

The Cardiologist's Funeral

A cardiologist died and was given an elaborate funeral.
A huge heart covered in flowers stood behind the casket during the
service.
Following the eulogy, the heart opened, and the casket rolled
inside. Theheart then closed, sealing the doctor in the beautiful
heart forever.

At that point, one of the mourners burst into laughter.
When all eyes stared at him, he said, "I'm sorry, I was just
thinking of my own funeral... I'm a gynecologist."

That's when the proctologist fainted.
