Maxzide
Hello I was curious to see that you say Maxzide is a good blood pressure medicine. I have been on it since my early 40's and it has worked wonderfully. Just take half a pill and it has kept me level over all these years(am now 61). The only thing I had problems with was losing too much salt so I have to take a prescribed Potassium twice a day for it. Most people I know who are on BP medicine have never heard of it. Wonder why? Was just glad to hear that Maxzide is o.k.. Patty

Hi ya Patty, I have been on a small dose for a good many years but it just doesn't do much for me anymore, so today I started a very low dose of Atenolol. 25 mg...
When I was on Maxzide I used Morton's Lite Salt which is half potassium chloride and half sodium chloride and it kept my electrolytes in balance. As to your question in last Thursday's MVM post....Yes that's exactly what was found via Abdominal CT scan. I went to the ER for some blood in my urine ( turned out to be a UTI and a God send) and had a CT scan to R/O a kidney stone. It's small...2.8 cms and I will see two vascular surgeons early next month to find out my options. Hoping for the stent graft. Good to see that you are posting on occasion and still lurking ![]() |

I take generic hydrochlorothiazide which is the same thing as Maxide. I also take Cozaar which is an angiotensin receptor blocker and tends to retain potassium...so the combo is good together. I am also conscious of getting a glass of OJ or a banana every day.
I think thiazide diuretics are the best first line defense against blood pressure, especially for peopole who are salt sensitive as I am. |
