Friday the 27
Hi to all
Well one Turkey Day down and one to go. Saturday will be the next celebration. Still have company too so will have to fix something for dinner tonight. Have a request for fish. Plus the other locals will come over. I want to say GRRRRRRRRR. Our company is leaving early Sat am. I am thankful that dinner won't be until 5 PM so I will have a little time to regroup and get ready. I do have a lot of the side dishes fixed already but there is always some last minute stuff to be done. I am complaining again tho and should have just piled my dishes up and did them later. I just hate that when people want to help and then complain about it (doing the dishes). I should have told those gals to go and sit down and waited to do the dishes after they left. Sorry for the rant. I might just do that today.Just guess I am not good company today so I am leaving for now. Might come back later if you will have me. |

Lorretta, you can rant all you want. We all have our holiday stresses and it helps to vent. As I posted yesterday morning--my mom spent the night at my brother's where Tday dinner was held. She had almost all her cooking done by 9am and was complaining about no one being there yet to eat!! I'd already told her that we NEVER eat before 2pm!! for goodness sakes....well, she got...I don't know what she got.....but she decided she'd just go home!! And DID!! I don't knowwhat she expected...Tday dinner at 9am???? My goodness gracious I honestly think she set herself ready for this little drama a night ahead of time as I'd told her then that the whole family was in the habit of having all our holiday dinners about 2pm. Well, we were sorry she'd left----but a fine time was had by everyone anyway and it's sad that she wasn't there to be a part of it.
See????? I ranted....you can rant......and I hearby dedicate todays postings as "Squat Day" because what comes after the turkey??? Turkey squat and that's what! Happens at so many family dinners. You gotta laugh or you'd cry. ![]() Last edited by JackiCWa : 11-26-2004 at 10:22 AM. |

I guess if Loretta and Jacki can rant so can I. hehehe
DD and DGS were here for a small dinner. Didn't go all out and even bought pumpkin pie at Costco. I made a swirl pumpkin cheesecake for me and it was delish!! Actually is very good. Nick decided to try AGAIN to quit smoking...his gf has been in Chicago all month and now she's wanting to stay there and live. She is coming home but not sure if shel'll go back. Nick can't go with her because of his arrest and drug court duties or he'll have a warrant out on him. So he spent the day crying and sleeping. DD was pleasant and we did play a game, Upwords. Ate early as she was going to a movie with friends. Just as well. We watched a movie on the DVD. It was an ok day but certainly not our usual festive "all the family" type Thanksgivings of the past. I know we have to change our traditions and we will. Missed seeing my boys and families though. DS1 is coming for dinner next Wed. Talked to DS2 and found out he and his partner have split after 6 years. Man, life sucks sometimes huh? So between Loretta, Jacki and I, I hope the rest of you had enjoyable days and lift our spirits!! Check back later... ![]()

Hello Gang!
Seems you ALL had family interactions yesterday, which is the norm! Glad you feel secure enough to vent here. I do my share too! I got my first Chrismas Card this morning from DH's eldest sister. She lives in Co. Mayo, Eire. She put in a two page letter, last of the old school. Her little dog of 13 years just died, they did have another one to help them over the grief. They never had children and so her furKids mean a lot to her, as they do to all of us. Today is "TEST" day for me. I will be going over to DD's tonight to get my instructions, some of them will be written in readiness for the big night tomorrow. DD said if all goes well tonight she might even try going out with her DH for an hour tonight. Sheesh! I am feeling like I am on trial here! Hope I pass the test! Roger, Do you have the lights working for you? It is sunny up here today, so I am trying to sit by the window when I can, some phone work to do. I will try to walk outdoors too, they say only 15mins without eye covering should do the trick. Hang in there! LOVE the festive avatars Linda and Julie. Gonna have to change mine agin! Where did you find them? Weight still coming down, so glad about that, slowing down now though. I need some physical activity I think to get the cardio up. Not sure if Babysitting this weekend will do the trick. Maybe, weight resistance training, lifting Ella. Wishing Y'all a wonderful TGIF and day after T'day! SuSUN |

I am so happy to hear some more complaining. Jackie I just can't believe that your mom just up and left. Was not a definite meal time set? Did she really expect everyone to eat at 9 am? Hope you talked to her today and she is feeling better. Julie sorry to hear that Nick had a rough day. Seems like it being a Holiday just made it worse for him. Sorry to hear about DS2 and his break up. You feel so sorry for those kids having those emotional traumas. Guess we all had quite a few in our life times. Susun does your DD know that you took care of her when she was a baby and look how she turned out? I can't beleive that she is having a TEST for your abilities. Thanks for the reminder. Quote:
I do feel better having vented. Thanks for listening. |

Hi all,
We went in to NYC to see a show with vouchers (cheapies) but they were sold out in spite of an earlier message they were taking the vouchers. Had a nice walk instead and a Chinese linner. Susun, Sometimes when I get depressed, it seems too much effort to get the light rig running: CATCH 22! A little better today...only thought about encroaching age, infirment, lonliness and death 9 times...that LOT'S lower than usual! Oh well, the beat goes on! Julie, sorry about DS2's breakup...it's hard after you've invested so muchy time. Loretta...throw the company out! ![]() ![]() Jackie, I don't know what it is about oldies and the need to eat and get everything done earlier and earlier...when I'd go visit my mother and suggest dinner out , she was dressed, purse in hand, and tapping her fingers at 4PM . Wherever we went we were the only table eating.Linda, Let's pray for a mild Winter...so far, so good. The gods owe us one after last year's deep-freeze. Ginny, Phonecia's budding and just sent up a FOURTH inflorescence...I think she thinks she's in the Phalympics!

Hi everyone,
Loretta, we all do need to vent on occasion so don't worry about it. Sometimes I feel that this bb is like therapy to many of us. Thank heavens for a place to do that. Here is my rant/vent. My DD is in some deep chit financially. She had a bad year at work ( highway construction) and got behind on her mortgage, utilities, car and a loan or what ever. She now has only one week of unemployment left on this years claim and the new claim doesn't start until mid Jan. We got several back payments made Wed. but the idiot is in a fog or depressed and won't get off her ass and get a temp. job although she keeps saying "I will". Christ!! I'm so sick and tired of taking care of someone at my age. She is still in recovery from her addiction to pain pills and if I bit#h too much, I'm afraid she will go back to them. Whew!! nuff said. LOL although there is MORE! Jackie, hope you and your mom made up. Did she say why dinner was ready so darn early? You could do what I do and just not get together for a family dinner. We go to my DH's sister's and I just block out most of the family crap. Julie, I'm so very sorry about Nick's girlfriend and your DS's break up. Things like that are so painful for the young ones. Hopefully this will pass. There is nothing better than a quiet day at home on a holiday. Susan, LOL Hope you pass the test tonight. Sheesh!! Did you remind her that YOU raised her? Roger, gosh you really should put those lights up. Depression is not fun at all. LOL Can you just see the two of us praying, of all things? Whatever gods would be laughing their azz's off. Turkey is all gone so we had pork chops tonight with some green beans and unsweetened applesauce. Wonder if that great turkey gravy will freeze well. Waving to the others. I'm off to work on DD's budget ![]() |

Oh dear Susan, I forgot to let you know about the graphic. I got it through gifanimation . com.
Seems it's the only place I can download from. I can no longer load pictures or graphics to my hard drive in the form of jpg. only bitmap. Gotta call the computer guy AGAIN! |

Geez, talking about depression. Since we got home, I've been in tears almost all the time. Dang it anyway. So I hear all of you. What is it anyway that the holidays bring out the worst. I've got an appt. for Monday morning to try out ONE MORE antidepressant.
Linda, I hear ya on financing your kids. DD is into debt to us for thousands and we'll never see any of it. I just wish I could say NO! DH gives in more than I do. Guess we can't take it with us but sure would like to. SuSun, ask your DD how she turned out? You DID take care of her when she was a baby!! You can right click on any pic and save it to your pictures. I got mine from Webshotscom |

It could have been a lot worse. We could have been roasting in an oven with bread crumbs shoved up our butts.!!!!!!!!!
