Monday Vintage Maintainers Mountaineering!
Good Morning gang,
Trying to figure out how to use $125 on www.giftcertificates.com before it expires. Our favorite stores: Target, J.C. Penney's, Sears, Modell's...or best, SHOP RITE or A&P not there. Maybe Macy's and Staples will have to do? Also Vitamin Shoppe might do the trick. I think we can break the amount up over a couple stores?? Nothing much going on today...art gallery hopping tomorrow. Cut Bob's hair yesterday; should do mine today...got all the crap out; might as well use it! More later! Yeah Linda. Pork Loin seems the easy way to go Thurs. I have a nice butternut squash (maybe I'll make some stuffing with prunes to make it seem more festive...with Heinz pork gravy- how LUXE ) Sorry I missed the Grizzlies...I had NOTHING to watch all day <shaking from withdrawal> Oh well...5 hours of STARGATE SG-1 tonight.SHOP RITE SALE ITEM: KODAK CX7220, 2 Mpxl, 2x optical zoom digital camera...$77 (can you believe!) To all a good day.

Hi Roger
I have a butternut waiting to be cracked. How do you make yours easier to cut in half. Bake it some first? Where do I go on my pc to check the amount of memory on hand. My own memory has failed to lead me to that spot. I keep getting a low memory message. Too many pictures of those kids and DGKs. I am starting to remove some and store them on my CDs. Ginny Linda we heard from Dh's daughter yesterday and she will arrive on Wednesday afternoon. That accounts for those staying here with us. It just is nice to know so I can think about what to feed these guys on the other days. Thanks for the tips on the winter driving. Have you had more snow? How is Gerard doing? Shawnee how is that crochetting going? After the holiday I am anxious to try out some new patterns. I wish I could find an easy one to make a tablecloth. Now that would be something I could use and make a nice gift. My bp is doing great, in fact it has been extra low 98/64. I have cut my atenolol to 50 mg from 100 and will see what happens. I hate pestering the doc all the time. DS and family stopped by last evening for a quick visit. Leah is walking. Everyonce in a while she sits down but up again. She is a little unsteady still. Time for a picture soon. Barb hope you had a nice weekend. Julie is home from her cruise too and will make us green with envy soon. Wonder how that weight is????? Later Loretta |

Sheesh! Just lost my post, cuz have thick sweater sleeves touched a key and lost it.
Sleeves rolled up now. Good Monday Maintainers! Well, I had my first day LCing yesterday. It went very well. I had Marlin and assorted veggies for supper out with DD and DSIL. I did have a glass of wine with a perrier chaser and this morning......drum roll.......1lb gone! Roger, What are those certificate about, will have to send on to DD to decify. The Pork sound good with prune stuffing. Care to share! I love pork with apple and cinnamon nuked in butter and a shake of splenda, them mashed, easy and tasty. Enjoy StarGate 1 tonight! Loretta, Great news on the B!P That is wonderful that Leah is walking, up and down. I remember those stages. Cant wait for Ella to follow in Leah's foot steps so to speak! Did your son get any results from the ENT guy? Off to meet DD for a nice walk around the woods. Ella is in her larger stoller now with the jogging all terrain type wheels, so allows DD to be more mobile on the nature trails. Much need exercise for me too. Wavin to Y'all! SuSUN! ![]() |

Hi Loretta, Susun,
Loretta, For the Butternut, acorn and spaghetti squashes I use a 12 inch chef's knife and press on both sides...BUT FIRST I make sure I'm wearing a pair of heavy gardening gloves. It's dangerous otherise; one slip and FINGER PIE! Double click MY COMPUTER...then RIGHT CLICK the C: Drive...PROPERTIES will tell you how much space you have. Things get dicey if you have less than 25% FREE. UNFORTUNATELY, the low memory message can mean low on RAM or more likely that an errant program is getting grabby. Beware of old DOS programs...they want it ALL! Susun, The certificate came to Bob as a Xmas gift at work last year...gives some choice on where to shop (apparently???) ![]() Congrats on the pound...I dropped one, too (to 208#) Stuffing is basically Stove Top with chopped up prunes thrown in...fool's 'em every time. Tiny bits of chicken livers or minced mushrooms also is a fooler...or God-forbid OYSTERS. But that short cut will be our little secret ...now WHERE did I put those TRUFFLES!Time for a nap...just pooped today! Last edited by zip2play : 11-22-2004 at 12:26 PM. |

Cool and dreary here today UGH! Oh well, at least no snow yet. Maybe Friday.
Spent this morning trying to help my ding bat daughter straighten out her budget. Does it ever END?Sat., I'll be babysitting for Nick. Mom and the girls are off to NYC for the day to see the "Nutcracker" and my son, Pete, is working the overnight shift. It should be interesting. He is such a happy baby USUALLY, so keep your fingers crossed for me. Hope he doesn't decide to scream all evening. Yahoo and back Julie, we want to hear all about your cruise. Hope you took lots of pictures to share.Roger, sorry you missed the grizzlies. It was really interesting. The showed the Grizzly recovery center in West Yellowstone... where we took the picture of Sam, the big boy...and how bear proof garbage cans were tested. I guess if an 800lb bear can jump on it and have it remain secure, it's a keeper. Wow there are a lot of stores on that site so you should find something to purchase. UGH, both G and I need haircuts desperately. What time should we come over to have you do it? ![]() Loretta, It's always nice to find out just how many house guests you will have and WHEN they will arrive. Hope it goes smoothly and they lend a hand around the house. Great going with the lower BP. Hope it continues for you. My gosh it's hard to believe Leah is walking already. Once they start, that's it. They usually RUN. Rutabagas, butternut and acorn are so very difficult to cut. Sometimes I use a sharp knife and hammer and take them out into the garage on the concrete floor. Someone said to nuke them for a few minutes to soften them up. Haven't tried it yet though. Sometimes our local supermarkets have them already cut up in plastic bags. The easy way out. LOLSusan, Ella must enjoy getting out for a nice walk in the new stroller. Marlin, eh? Is it a really "fishy" tasting fish? I have never had it. Haddock and Orange roughy are my favs. Later Waving to Ginny, Shawnee, Barb |

No Linda, it NEVER ends!!
This young girl on my case load who is pregnant said that she is so tired of being pregnant and can hardly wait until the baby is born because IT WILL BE SO MUCH EASIER!! We quickly informed her that it never gets easy!! On your winter car list you forgot ..........food!!!! If you have all of those things in your car, looks like you are coming to visit me! We had a real nice snow storm this weekend -- so we didn't go far. Good going SuSUN -- 1# down!! I think we all fall into bad habits when maintaining and correcting them brings such happy results. Speaking of weight.......I wonder how our friend who has been out to sea has done!! I don't think she lived on fish!Loretta, that BP went down already. Why would it if you cut down on the meds? I need to take mine again (have a home kit) because I feel light headed again (just a dizzy blonde??) and it might be low. Have to run...... have telephone call! Later, Barb

Thanks Zip about the memory. I ditched a lot of big pictures today and even emptied the recycle bin and the c drive properties states I have 7.70 o free space. I had some big pictures on there. I'm going to try to nuke that butternut squash first then cut.
Linda hope Nick is good for you. Will you be at their house? That might make it easier. I wish out local stores sold the squash already cut that would be my choice. My DS has lots of budget problems too. He just does not seem to be able to make a budget and stick to it. He is the single one too. Is there a saint we can pray to for that. Barb sorry the snow interferred with your weekend. I am still taking my origianal bp med of atenolol, 100mg plus the 10 mg of altace, (it was 5 mg). Guess my body is still adjusting and the new med needs about a month to take over. So when my bp got too low I thought I could cut the atenolol in half. I am making myself about which way to go and I need to quit confusing my system. I am going to stay with the atenolol 50 mg and 10 of the altace for at least 2 weeks. Am I making sense at all? later |

Loretta, that makes sense -- it does take some time for BP meds to take effect. That's why I always liked the samples from the doctor's office so you don't have to go out and buy some and then change.
Well Zip, if you were that hard up for something to watch on TV -- you could have seen some brawls by just watching Sports!! Sounds like we've gone back to the days of the Roman Sports when watching people being hurt was entertainment. Ginny, weekend was good for football -- Vikings won, Green Bay won, and Denver won! Life was good! until next weekend and they lose? Waving to the rest ....... Barb |

Hi Y'all
Yeah, Barb....like Gladiators ![]() ....just goes to show, all those $$$$$$$$ player contracts cannot buy cla$$. They should all do some hard time, then community service. SuSUN, here's something you may like: mix together Yogurt, sweetener, and cinnamon. Ginny, how are you and Furkids? Blessings on your house. Who's cooking your T-day dinner? So...where's Julie??? Wanna hear bout that trip ![]() Loretta, I am NOT very good with the crocheting, but I enjoy it. Sticking with bookmarks so far. Have been beading around the edges. Taking on a tablecloth sounds like an enormous challenge.. My bit of piddlin' with the crochet sure makes me appreciate even more the afgan DD Eva made me 15 years back...has so many different stitches, very complicated-looking. Its been washed at least 30 times...cause I love it, and use it probably 9 months of the year(s) as a couch snuggler. Montana, I missed the Griz show, but did channel surf across a Yellowstone Coyote one that made me laugh and cry. Sure showed the cycles of Life: the glory of Spring's birth, and the deaths/struggles of Winter. Loretta and Montana, this non-Catholic heathen has just the Saint for your kids....SAINT EXPEDITE Saint Expedite is the patron of those who hope for rapid solutions to problems, who wish to avoid or put an end to delays, and who want general financial success. His aid is also sought by those who wish to overcome procrastination as a personal bad habit, as well as by shop-keepers and sailors. His feast day is April 19. Zip, hope y'all find some bargains to spend that certificate on. We too tend to procrastinate on redeeming those things...got two rebate checks now that must be cashed soon before expiration date...time flies. Be well and content ShawneeLast edited by shawneesioux : 11-22-2004 at 11:32 PM. |
