The last few lbs..
Ok..so here's my qustion. When you got to the last few lbs (say 5 or less) how did your losses look? Yes, trust me I know we're all diffrent..we all lose at our own rate..I'm just trying to figure out how slow this last 4 might be comming off.
I eat no products..run 3 miles 5-6 days a week...and have been losing about 1/2 lb a week. Is this slow? normal? Should I expect it to take 2-3 months to get the last 4 off? Any personal info would be great! Thanks in advance. So I'm off to work..will check back later for replies ![]()

HI Lisa Rae
Congrats on your great loss! As you said, we are all different, and lose at different rates. I lost about the same amount weekly til I got close to goal, then my body seemed to say "OK, that's enough." Because of your good exercise program, you may be replacing fat with muscle, so you weight loss may slow down...but you will still be skinnier! Goal is only an arbitrary number; go by how you look and feel too. Best wishes for your continued success. You deserve a Shawnee |

Hey Shawnee,
Thanks Hun..I appreaciate the response. I'm not so stuck on the suposed chart weight...but at 5'6 I definatly still have some jibble at 142 I'm in mostly 10's..a few 8's..and am working towards comfortable 8's. Honestly..have no desire to get much more off..but do think 138 would give me a 2 lb flux level that works well for me.I hit my original goal of 150 in Sept of 2003. I maintaned there for about 7 months..and decided 10 more was very doable. I have tons of patience..as you can see by my stats! Took me about 2 years to lose te first 100. Just want to know if I'm being realistic. I figured with the exercise adn clean eating..I should be able to do 1 lb a week...It's frustrating! Anyway..I'm going to keep working it..and if My bod has just hit what it wants to be at..so be it.. Again..thanks for the response.. |

It took me a whole month to get the last few lbs. off, and this was with consistent exercise (and I was even increasing the intensity as I lost weight). Congratulations on your great loss!

Gina..again..thanks for the response.
Yeah..I have to say..exercise has been my last great hurdle! I honestly don't like it..and maybe never will..but for sure feel better and look better since I added it. I never got that "I just love to work out" mentality that I hear from so many people who exercise. I just look at it as a way to love myself more each day. Just like my vitamins and water...I don't like it..but do it anyway (LOL) some days it just sucks being a grown-up ![]() |

Lisa Rae,
Congratulations on the superb weight loss (the "before pic looked like Queen Victoria.) I think a half pound a week is a GREAT way to approach goal and then when you finally arrive, there needn't be any drastic changes. I'm doing close to the same thing to get to goal AGAIN ! And I have about 3 pounds to go...if it takes til New Years Day, that's fine with me....I'll even setttle for VALENTINE's Day!(I'm, an avid calorie counter, 2200ish...no more carb restrictions for me other than how they impact calories...a wedge of chocolate cake can net 800 calories, easy )

Zip,
Queen Victoria??!! That is the best reaction yet to my before..you made my day. Usually when I post it for newbies..I start off by saying "and NO, I was not Preggers in that before" Ok..so by the responses..I'm thinking I need to chill I guess because I wasn't really at my healthiest weight for my first goal..it came off much faster then this time. So I have to remember..that this is my last goal..a real long-term weight..and thus..it's going to go slower then a pregnant snail in a heat wave??Good enough..so thanks! I'm feeling much beter now ![]() P.S. Have to admit, I've always been a bit intimidated about posting in here Now that I've gotten such nice responses..I'm thinking how silly that was!Last edited by Lisa Rae : 11-13-2004 at 02:16 PM. |

Lisa Rae, congratulations on all of you weight loss already, WOWEE!
I have found that the last 4 lbs are taking their sweet time to come off, but my doctor told me it would be that way. He was ok with me being in the 130's in fact, said it would taper off and not come off naturally to suit my body. I do the same amount on the exercise bike that I have done for awhile too, but sometimes I go out walking quickly to see if that helps push it along. My 58 birthday is next week, and I would like to be at goal or below by then. Of course, this time of year staying on a healthy lifestyle plan is often harder on everyone. I was pre diabetic, so that scared me straight, and keeps me on the road, plus doctor's appts and lab tests every 3 months. Good Luck to you!! Doris |

Welcome Lisa Rae to the Maintain Board! You have done so well. Just continue to do what you are doing and next thing you know you will be at that final goal. I found that if I could keep my mind off of my final goal and just concentrate on one day at a time I seemed to do better. Hang in there. You are almost home!
