VINTAGE MAINTINERS' WEDNESDAY

Good morning all.

We PANICKED overnight . We realized the car thing is untenable while we're still here. Street parking will be a miserable NIGHTMARE, especially with a snowy winter and the garage has just gone over $200/month ($260 for reserved spot).
We will call the seller (and a friend) in a little while and see if we can get our $500 deposit back.
Neither of us got much sleep over anticipating the ramifications of the whole thing. (You lucky people with driveways, garages and REAL STREETS!)
I hate when things move too quickly to think them through!
The car is a real steal for somebody, just not us.
Bummer!

Oh well, the upside of a miserable night's sleep is that my weight went back to 209#...in spite of MANY martinis

More later.

edit:

We called; he'll return our check!

Hello maintainers,

Roger, It must be a bit disappointing but probably for the best.
I just can't imagine where you would park there unless you paid big bucks for a garage.

It would be much less expensive to rent a car for a month to take a trip, and you won't have the additional expenses of maintenance, registration, inspections, etc.

You guys have virtually everything at your fingertips unlike us. There is no public transportation here, and the closest grocery store is several miles away.

Having a driveway isn't all it's cracked up to be either. LOL it needs to be plowed out after a snow storm.
REAL STREETS They are either full of pot holes, road salt or too damned icy to navigate in the winter and under construction during the spring and summer.
Count your blessings.

OMG Shawnee, I wonder what was on the roof causing such a ruckus. Glad the Chuckster is OK.

You know, I hadn't thought about other critters getting in the cat door when we had one for Sylvester AND Lord knows we have lots of them around here.. YIKES!

Zip glad that you and Bob thought it through before you actually bought the car. Your seller was very nice to return the check to you. Owning a car there in the heart of the city would have to be a headache. If you parked on the street you would worry about it getting damaged or stolen. Lots of extra $$$ to put out for transportation when it is so close at hand for you. You can always rent a car if you want to go somewhere. There now that is settled. Decisions are sometimes time consuming and DIRVE us to drink. My cd writer is working great. It does what I want it to do but I have to format the CD RW disks first.

Linda I'm so happy that Gerard is on the mend finally and the tests were negative for larger problems. We never did have other critters get in our doggie door. But the dogs might have barked them away. I liked it myself. We would not have done it with out a fenced in yard though.

Shawnee I know that the cost of those fish is going to go up. I just hope DH's health continues to enjoy his fishing. I wonder what the outcome of buying a new boat will be? I sure hope I don't have to clean up that old boat first. We have to take the boat out of the water next Monday. I think a freind from church will be able to help.
Glad that you DS and DGS got to have some time together before the male bonding. That is nice though for them all to get together.

Hi to our lurkers and future posters for today.

Lretta

OMG Zip, it's a shame you don't get to use the roads you have to pay taxes for.....and what about road rage? you'll never have THAT experience. But then no one will arrest you for talking on your cell phone while driving!!

Martini's help you lose weight? Did I miss something here? Better not encourage me.

Loretta, how big of a boat do you have now what do you want to move up to? Maybe you could have a his and a hers!!

Good evening Ginny, Linda, Shawnee, Jackie, Julie and Susan.

Nice weather here - cold at night and warms up during day -- don't even need a sweater!!

Have a good evening - what's left! Barb

Hi Y'all

Just a quick check in...went shopping up North with GBrat today. That kid wears me out, but oh what fun. BurkPup spent the day in doggie day care; the owner raved about his sweetness. Does this ol' Granny's heart good to know her GrandPup uses his manners in public. LOL

Loretta...think of any good reason why NOT to get a new boat? If it won't hurt ya financially, let him have a new toy while he can enjoy it....

to all.

Shawnee
