MVM Tuesday,
Hi Maintainers,
Weight holding at 210# (saw 209 twice last week...goal probably 205, but it all depends on the muscularity.) I am TRYING soooo hard to drink 2 martinis a day. If I teetotal, my HDL's fall below 40 but if I drink a little I can keep them over 50. If I find it too hard to stay at two then I'll switch to CHATEAU CARDBOARD (don't you LOVE the term )...that Franzia type cheap wine in boxes and drink 3 glasses a day. With wine that sleazy it's easier to hold to a small amount! I hope I can find one that's drinkable.Yeah, insurance rates are offf the wall. A friend in the Bronx (age 52, never drinks- no accidents or ticket) hass full collision/comprehensive on a lousy CAMRY and pays $2900/year. Loretta, nothing small about an INFINITI (and 20 mpg.) It's really something of a luxury car, well, ALMOST. Interesting, you mention your DH's age as a price factor. Maybe I should be the only driver listed...hmmm, food for thought. I do 99% of the driving, anyway. Shawnee, Trigger Pinkie can fire like a Reminton...it shot a Lipitor across the bathroom yesterday...$1 pill straight into the commode! I need a new picture of the Chuckster Monster!Well, the cold moved in and we were in the middle 30's overnight. I see it's all the way down to Loretta and Ginnyland. Linda, Betcha, the bears are hibernating in the backwoods of Bing this week. Bob off to the VA doctor to get his Lipid numbers and some prescriptions. He's lucky he signed up before Bush pulled the rug out 2 years ago...no new seniors now, unless with a service disability. VA may not be the BEST care around but it sure is the cheapest! I need some ideas on a recipe...I've ALWAYS wanted to buy salt cod and I did...now I don't know what to do with it beyond soaking overnight in multiple water changes to remove most of the salt...Something creamy I'd imagine? or au gratin with potatoes? A cod and corn flake souffle'??? Anyone ever use the stuff? Susun, How's the SURF! Gee, I got time on my hands...I've been banned AGAIN on the Health Boards...run like the Gestapo!

Hi Zip and those that follow
You are sure not very far away from that goal of 205. Maybe it will creep down for you. Don't think I want to move in that direction any time soon with those insurance prices. Listing just one driver on the car will help some. Does the state charge you for you license plates by year and make of car. Buying a new car around here is pretty costly, not only for the car but the yearly plates. As it is now I am stuck with and enjoying the CHATEAU CARDBOARD. Imagine it I moved there. No wine, just water thank you. It is cold here and will be getting colder but we do have sunshine. Dh is still going fishing. Barb glad to hear you got the clothes off and actually got on that treadmill. WTG. Is your weight holding steady for you? Ginny Dh's thumb is healing nicely and yes the bandage is getting smaller but still needs to be changed 2x a week. At least I can do that so we don't have to go in to see the doc weekly now. Hope your visit with mom is going well. Linda I'm glad you suggested that cat door for Shawnee. I forgot that we had a doggie door. It worked out great but they could not escape out of the back yard. Good to hear that Gerard's tests came back negative, one less worry. Bag balm will be great for those feet. What did the doc suggest for them? Thanks for suggesting the driving class but I don't think that would change the age factor and rates going up. Susun glad to hear from you. Hope you have some good books to read while lounging around. The weather sounds fine. Have you noticed much damage from the Hurricaines??? Julie hope you are well rested. Time for R & R for you. Hope you had a nice visit with DD. How will Nick be getting around? DH has gone fishing again and I am starting to miss him. He has been out there most days for several hours each time. He sure is doing so much better now than a few months ago. Now he wants to buy a NEW BOAT. Later L retta |

Hi everyone, Woke up this AM to SNOW on the ground again so it was time to drag out the heavy winter jacket for my outing today..
Wow Roger, how great that you two got the car. Just where on earth are you going to park it there? How about a picture of it. HOW THE HELL DOES one get banned from the health bbs? ![]() Hey the boxed wines aren't too awfully bad at all. I usually buy Livingston Manor brand of Chablis or Merlot because they are the lowest in carbohydrates that I have found, but sometimes the boxed Franzia is just fine. I hear ya on the expensive wines. I used to really love them but we ol retired people just cant afford them very often. We haven't seen a bear lately but I don't know if they are in hibernation around here yet. I know in Montana they aren't yet. My brother looked out his bathroom window last week and saw one standing on his picnic table. Hell he lives in the city of Missoula.Loretta, aww. Sorry you are missing your DH. At least he is feeling good enough to enjoy his passion. Hope he cleans those fish instead of leaving that nasty job for you. Julie, are you feeling any better? Shawnee, have you considered the cat door? Barb, I stayed at the same weight for several months and gradually just kept losing until I got here. Guess this is where my body wants to be. Off to see what G. is making for dinner. Hump! and after I just bought some lovely, HUGE, sea scallops. Guess we will have them tomorrow. Later |

Hi Y'all
Will try to get a snap of Cranky Cat, and I'd like for his butt to show in it...strangely, he is going gray in the fluffy fur all down his back legs...lovely color, but he's still intense black, white, some sable from summer sun everywhere else. Loretta...its so nice (IMO) when a retired hubby is OUT of the house long enough that ya have time to miss them! I'm sure enjoying my ''missing" time. Glad your DH has improved so much. LOL, will a new boat improve the catch size???? ![]() DSon came in from the woods around noonish...showered and we had lunch in town. Now he's off to visit friends here, play golf tomorrow...then pick up his Son (15) after school, and take him out to Bob's camp...three generations of the mighty hunter bonding thing. Montana, those Montana bears like picnics too ![]() SNEAUX ???? Already?! Lordy, I'd love to give up my job title of Carlton the Doorman re the Chuckster...BUT because we have paradise yards for possums, coons, neighborhood cats...I'm leery that I'd wake up to find some furry strangers in bed with me. My SIL's Mom (who has 2 cats and a cat door) woke up hearing strange noises in the kitchen...a possum was perched on the table.) Wines...I read an article awhile back; some Vintners were gonna try Test Marketing bottles of the $$$stuff with screw top caps instead of corks... LOL, since my innocent palate couldn't discern between the cheap stuff and the snob stuff....I went with the theory that if it cost over $5, I wanted to see that cork! Barb, for awhile I went below my Goal weight...but the weight came outta my face...I'd rather carry a few extra to help plump out my wrinkles. Y'all remember Connie Stevens, from the..what..??..Sixties or Seventies? Saw her on a Talk Show, she said she always weighed 10# more than was stylish, to keep her face filled out. GAD, just had the most screetching WAR on the roof, right over this room...grabbed the handiest weapon..a mop! to go save the Chuckster. He was just jumping down from the roof to the deck railing when I got there, his tail doing the "I'm pi$$ed" flicks. Checked him out, I terrified of cat scratches and bites on him, they lead to infections rapidly...seems fine, he's chowing down now. I keep telling him he's to old to be a hunter/warrior, but he still protects his home turf. HI to the MIAs. Shawnee |
