Monday on the MAGNIFICENT MAINTAIN MOUNTAIN

Hi gang,
Still alive here.

Spent yesterday setting up Vicki's computer (she hasn't had it out of the box in three years. She knows NOTHING and hates the machine, so I don't know why I wasted my time!

Afterward we went to a cheap hole in the wall for CHEAP CHEAP Indian...place was mobbed at $5.99 dinners (with 2 meat curries, an exotic veg, salad, raita, nan...) But really TOO MUCH of a hole in the wall with people shouting orders, and plastic "silver...) First and Last!
Weather was lovely: sunny in the mid-60's, but they are calling for MUCH colder by tomorrow. Amazingly we haven't even had the first FROST yet???

Linda,
Congrats on the 92-94 range...FAT Vicki at 95 (and 5'2 1/2) would be jealous//

Shawnee...I'd prefer a one cat night enyday. Up at 4 is a bit too, too though! What does he do if you ignore the wee-hour call? Not Wee-Wee I hope (cats just DON'T do that.)

Julie,
I went through the same two colds: first in early September: quick and easy. Then another mid September which STILL has me coughing. (I was doing codeine for 2 weeks...nothing works as well.)

Friend has a car up for sale...a well kept '96 Infiniti I30. I think we'll buy it- getting insurance quotes the last couple days. If we street park it the hassle will be a real chore but the $220 a month garage parking would make it a no-no (especially with Jersey's insurance which is a cool $1500/year for old fartes like us with good records...kids pay TWICE that.)
Time for us to get more mobile, and an Infiniti is good for old bones!

Hi to everybody...

Cute picture Zip! Sort of how some of us feel at times.

Sometimes the quality of food is impaired by the atmosphere -- and ye gads - plastic!!

Linda, I hope you can remember those words when you need them -- might have to carry along a "cheat" sheet.

Loretta, you are so smart! How did you know that I was cleaning the clothes off the treadmill and just sweetly posting about the importance of exercise! Well, I did get on this morning!
Now my conscience is free.

It is truly amazing what you would have to pay for Zip, just to have tires. Where would you park?

to everyone and check in later! Barb

Morning gang,

Still caffeinating, but fairly coherent. Cooling off here, and will be time to dig out the heavier jackets soon. Ugh.

Linda, great list! Had to send it to one of the guys at work who does the renaissance type fighting (S.C.A. is his stress relief). I'm sure there's bound to be something in there he can use LOL! Glad you're getting that weight back to normal!

Zip, welcome back! Yikes, a car there sounds like it would be WAY too expensive! And the street parking would have me a bit worried, even with an old clunker! Our insurance here for 3 vehicles, good liability limits and uninsured motorist coverage is less than $450 PER YEAR!!! Never had wheels that required full coverage (except for one car we made payments on just to build a credit rating many years ago) but I've heard it runs around $60 a month with a good driving record--of course as a resposible adult!

Shawnee, the Chuckster sure has you trained! Can't imagine those 4 a.m. excursions....what do you reckon he's after? Our gang is SNORING at that time!

Barb, good for you getting back on the treadmill. I don't have one (or any other exercise equipment) cuz I know I won't use it! Way too lazy here!

Julie, hoping the cold is dwindling down to nothing very soon...they are no fun even if you don't have a vacation planned!

Loretta, what will y'all be up to now that it's cooling off? Will your DH continue to fish? Time to get the crafty projects out?

Well, off to lurk for a bit, then get moving. Hi to our lurkers, everyone have a great day!

Hi Y'all

Anyone have weather above 55° ? Please send some

back Zip. LOL on Vicki's 'puter. My SIL has a love-hate relationship with hers....it scares the heck out of her mostly.
How's the trigger finger? My right pinkie is kinda deformed courtesy of a drunk driver many years back...thankfully its on my right hand, but it IS the finger that controls the tension of the crochet thread, and doesn't allow a smooth flow.
I don't know what Chuckster would do if I didn't obey his commands...he's quite physical and super-vocal, so he always gets his way.

Ginny, evidence suggests the Chuckster's nocturnal prowls are keeping the local rodent population under control. He leaves his gifts on the back porch and wants praise for his hunting prowess.
The Ins. rates here are mid-range I think: three vehicles plus travel trailer runs $1440 annually, with the multi-discounts and "good -mature driver" recognition.
Please send three pups immediately! By the time "real" Winter hits, I'll need all five!

Barb, good for you, getting on that treadmill.

Montana, Thanks for that list.

Hey to Loretta, Jacki, SuSUN...Fav Lurker

Gotta get my day started, and act human...tho being a bum is fun.

more later

Back Roger. You sure are a good neighbor to help Vickie with her pc. I'd be lost without mine and all of the worlds that open up for me. Hope you enjoy that car and getting out and about. That little infinity might not use that much gas. Guess insurance rates are just a lot higher urban areas. Although my Dh insurance went up after he reached 75. He is not driving much now but on local streets, never on the main roads. He drives it to go fishing about 3 blocks from home. Doing fine at it and enjoying that little bit of independance.

Ginny enjoy that visit with your mom. We sure will save your spot for you whenever you get around to posting.

Shawnee we have beautiful weather, probably reach low 70s today. But it is on the cool down here too. Chuckster must be the boss over at your place. He has it made. Happy Birthday to Kaci. Hope you and she both are enjoying the celebration.

Linda I have forgotten the name of the mushrooms some chicken something. We had them before so I know that they are safe. I also found a puff ball that Dh ate some of for breakfast today with scrambled eggs and a few onions. He sure enjoys them.
Sorry that Gerard is not doing well. Sure hope that doc can get him straightened out today. It has been a long time. Did you get a chance to eat and make some pb fudge?

Julie, you probably should stay home today, but I guess you have left. Maybe you need to visit the doc. Sorry you are not feeling much better.

Will work at trying to make a web page today afer I get my baking done.

Later folks
Hi to the rest of the mountaineers and lurkers.

I didn't have a choice in staying home from work today but actually felt better after I was out. Coughing is less but just in case I got another prescription for some sf cough syrup with codeine.

Geez, now we are having earthquakes under Mr. Rainer. Mt. St. Helens dome is building so maybe when we get back, there won't be a pacific northwest!! Juuuust kidding!!!

Got my days mapped out on things I need to do. Getting very excited and a little anxious.

Got to run gang, dinner is needing attention, DD is stopping over tonight and I need to put my feet up and rest a bit.

Hi Guys,

Checking in as a good maintainer should!

Glad to see that you are all doing well.

I will have to re-read the last couple of days posts.

Enjoying 75F sunny weather.

Saw a street today called Shawnee. It is near Lake Minnehaha. Imagine that?

So glad to see Roger posting agin!
The Infiniti sounds so dreamy, just the kinda car I would expect you to drive! DH had his eye on one a few years back. I was a stick in the mud and he ended up with a newer model Maxima.

Full days. Still 65F.DS doing well and sleeping right now.

Wavin to y'all!

Hi everybody,

Well I guess we got to the bottom of Gerard's latest rash problem. It seems it's a bacterial infection of the skin ( body's largest organ) caused by scratching and introducing that bacteria. Personally I feel it's from his very dry, cracked feet. They have been like that for months and months AND he hardly ever wears shoes. Gotta run that by the doctor when he sees him again in two weeks since I had forgotten all about it when we were there. ANA tests and other blood work are within normal ranges.

Roger,
HOLY *****!! Your auto insurance rates are totally outrageous as are the parking rates. I'm assuming they don't even include collision and comp. YIKES!
Well anyway, it will be fun for both of you. Hey, you can hit I 80 to I 81 and take exit 1. You would be just a couple of miles from our house. Standing invitation.

How nice that Vicki has you to help with the computer. Now are you going to give her lessons so she can become just as addicted as the rest of us?

Barb, LOL our exercise bike is in the basement and used as a clothes rack too.
Glad you liked the list.

Ginny, Boy your ins. rates aren't too bad either. We pay about $600.00 for both vehicles for liability only.

Hope you finally got enough caffeine in.

Shawnee, Have you thought about one of the "kitty" doors? When we adopted a stray who had feline leukemia, we kept Sylvester confined to a room in the basement ( to keep him away from our cat) with food, water, bed, litter box, but cut a hole through the wall and installed one. He really enjoyed it and lived a good life for the 6 months he was with us.

HA!! wish we could send you some weather. We are having a snow squall right now and it's cold and windy.

Loretta, do you have a drivers class for "Golden's"? We have one called 55 alive here which when completed, reduces our rates 20%. Might be worth looking into for you and your DH.

No I didn't get a chance to make that fudge. Seems I was busy doing nothing again.

Julie, I agree that you should go to the doctor again. Maybe you have bronchitis or even pneumonia. Have you had a chest x ray?

I would worry about Mt. St. Helens as much as I would about Yellowstone. Did you happen to see the special on National Geographic channel about it? It's a super volcano and way over due for a major eruption. That would be it for most of us. Even here on the east coast.

Waving to the rest of the gang.

Linda, we must have been posting at the same time.

So glad that you got a solution to Gerard's rash problem.

Staph aureus (sp) lives readily on our skin just waiting to invade at an opening. It always scared me this. Hope Gerard will wear some footwear to protect his toes from injury now. Sending Hugs

Sounds like "bag balm" is in order for those cracked feet, or even just good old vaseline petroleum jelly, spread thick nightly with a plastic bag to seal in the "juices" overnight! LOL! or just his regular sock overtop, works in about 5 days.

Getting tired!

SuSUN!
