New Maintainers - Wk of 11/1

I meant to put this thread up late Sunday! How is everyone doing? I am at 110.5 for the last two days and think I will finally get below 110 this week. Still trying to get to 105 by Thanksgiving but just not sure if I can go that low. Tuesday I plan to do some Christmas shopping and maybe get a couple of new outfits for myself for the holidays and a wedding I will attend in December. Vickie

Vickie - Thanks for starting the thread. Hope you include Voting in your things to do today? Also, good luck with the shopping. It can be so frustrating trying to find something new especially for us mature adults (non Junior). Not many stores carry a lot of small sizes (under 4) and even then a 4 can be hard to find. Just shows us there are not many Size 2's etc.

What have you been doing to try to lose more weight? Are you back at Induction levels? Do you find it hard to cut back? I do it on occasion but hate it with a passion. Just the same, it helps keep me in check.

Hope everyone has a nice Election Day!

Don't forget to VOTE! Ann

I voted! Waited an hour at 7:00 this morning, so not too bad. I figure it will be alot worse after work.

Still trying to recover from the stomach flu .. man, what a bug! I lost 4 more pounds (the hard way), which I am sure will reappear once my appetite returns.

Vickie are you sure you need to lose more? How tall are you? Ann, how often do you do an induction day? Just curious!

I agree, shopping can be a challenge when you aren't junior age, but you are junior size! Here I thought I would love being a size 0 .. but its hard NOT to look like a junior higher!

Have a great day everyone!

Betty

Oh goodness Betty, hope you are feeling better. Nothing like a bug to take the weight off the hard way. Glad to hear you voted. I haven't yet but will leave work early to do so. The problem with Junior Sizes for me is that they never fit right either. Pants are usually too long, dresses are too short, shirts are too skimpy, pants are too low on the waist for my liking, etc.

I usually do Induction levels a few days when I see the scale jump over the 100 lb. mark. That is just something I have set for myself. Usually it is when I have overdone the frankenfoods which is something you don't ever eat Betty. Wish I had your willpower but I don't. I'm just not a big meat eater and if it weren't for the veggies and salads I'd be a total failure at this WOE. Hope everyone else is doing well. Ann

Good afternooon -

Thank you for letting me join your group. I am well on my way to maintainence, I dropped 2 lbs overnight!! I decided I either do it now, or stop kidding myself. I kept telling myself that I was not that overwieght -- after all, I wore a size 3/4, right? Wrong!! At 4'11", I am stinkin' overweight!!! My husband showed my a picture of myself with the kids, and I knew that I needed to get back down to 90 lbs -- I felt the best there, and I know that at my height, every little bit helps.

I really look forward to getting to know you all, and to get some tips on how to keep the weight off, I would like to stay at goal this time!!! Have a great night!

Good morning --

Jonah's Granny -

Thank you for your welcome. Actually, for as small as I am, maintaining at 90 was very easy. Only when my eating got really poor did my weight go up. I am your classic carbohydrate addict. If I stay away from carbs, I do great. But once I put that first taste in my mouth, watch out!!! I can't stop. I was at my goal a couple of months ago, and had been there for a few years. My step-daughter got married and moved to Kentucky, and I started back on the carbs. We are very close, and when she left, we both put on weight.

I am so tired of not being able to wear some of my nice clothes in my closet, so I got back on the wagon!! I have followed your success for a long time, and you are a great inspiration to me. Thank you for that. I hope that I can get back to my goal weight and stay there this time.

Off to watch the election results now. Have a great day everyone.

Hi all,
Can I join your group? I am finally trying to get rid of the last pound to get to goal. I am a slow loser and it took me 6 months to get to 126. I have been maintaining for a while and have not been making great efforts to lose more due to travel and other events that have upset my routine. While I have managed to not put on weight, I am still not comfortable with my eating and need to find out what will work in the long term.

Welcome Mariasol and laminix!
Things have been really hectic these days (my son's birthday is right after Halloween, plus a work project came in, plus was glued to TV for election returns), I have been snacking a bit too much on pork rinds and pecans. But no effect on the scale, just making me feel guilty. Had dinner at a neighbor's last Sat. night, food not LC, but delicious. Have to find a way to make the apple and potato rosti LC, it was scrumptious. She also served blimpies topped with smoked trout and creme fraiche for starters, that I know I can do LC. That dinner did have a small effect on the scale next day, but did not trigger any cravings at all, and next day scale was back to normal. Luckily for me I do not have big fluctuations on the scale, I am always between 126 and 128, it is comforting!

Had someone ask me today if I was still "dieting," had to laugh, I told her I am not "dieting," but yes, I am still following Atkins and loving it!

ginabw - My son's birthday is also after halloween (11/4) and it is always the start of my seasonal depression. It's just too much with birthdays (my DH's is on 12/18), Thanksgiving and Christmas. At least we celebrated my son last weekend, so that is over with.

Pork rinds have been my crutch lately when the munchies set in at night. I am always up a pound the next day due to water retention, but it is temporary.

Oh Mariasol, I hope it is not really depressing for you! This is my favorite time of the year, so much to do with the kids, holiday crafts, parties, etc. My own birthday is in Dec, right before Xmas (40 this year!), and I am so glad it is during the holiday time, everything is so festive with all the decorations. Just taking them out and putting them up every year really lifts my spirits. The sad part is after New Years when I have to put everything away again until the next year. And this year will be extra special because I will be hitting my one year Atkinsversary a week from today.
Yes, pork rinds are great for munchies, I never had them before Atkins.
Cheers!

Thanks Betty! Election was over, thought I'd better get a new one (especially since the old one would be depressing for me to look at since my side lost!).

Glad to hear you're feeling better, I got hit with that stomach bug myself a few weeks ago, ugh, not the easiest way to lose 4 lbs!

gina - you are right. It is a festive time of the year. I used to like getting ready for the holidays, and I don't really know why this changed. Perhaps it is all in my mind; I just expect to get depressed and of course, then I do. I'll make an effort to be more positive this year. Perhaps buy some new decorations this weekend instead of getting all the old stuff out.

I agree with Betty that you look beautiful in your avatar. But what's up with the 'cover-up'. Time for a string bikini, don't you think?

Ha, String Bikini!!!! Don't have the self-confidence for that! But I am going to try again looking for a two-piece, looked last year and couldn't find one I liked (it is hard over here, the European bathing suits are MUCH skimpier, so I bought that one off landsend.com). I am a sale person though, always wait for things to go on sale! Thank you!

Hello everyone! I am down to 108.25 as of Wed morning.

Ann, yes voting was the first thing on my agenda Tuesday. I couldn't find the clothes I wanted but did buy wool dress pants in a cream color. I will be shopping again Saturday so I hope I have better luck finding some things. I am eating at induction or lower right now. Also I have added an extra mile to my jog/fast walk routine (doing 3 mi 5-6 times a week along with 3 days of weight training).

Betty, I am just over 5ft tall so the lower recommended weight for my height is 100lbs. I won't go that low. I hope you are feeling better. My DH has had a stomach virus for several days.

Gina, you look great! Sounds like you have been really busy. It's great not to have fluctuations with the scale when maintaining.

Welcome Mariasol and laminix! Glad to have you posting here.

Vickie

Gina - Looking really pretty. You look downright skinny!

Corgi - Congrats on the few pounds down. Going back to Induction levels is what always helps me. I may try to drop a few to get me through the holidays. Its a shame we can't just maintain.

Welcome Mariasol. Hope you and laminix will let us know what we can do to help. Ann

Granny - thanks for the welcome.
Yes, I could use any tips of how to lose 1 pound! I have been maintaining now for 3 months and it would be nice to finally get to goal. I know that 125 is just a number but I would not mind getting rid of the remaining padding on my stomach.
Otherwise, I am feeling pretty good today. I put on a 6P skirt that I have not worn for a while and it is a little loose around the waist. Perhaps I have lost another fraction of an inch even if it has not showed up on the scale.

Hey, how do you guys put your picture in your avatar exactly? I've tried the directions, but it always rejects my picture saying its the wrong kind or the wrong size. What am I doing wrong?

I am blond by the way.........

Betty, if you go into "my controls" and go to the avatars, I think you can click on browse to pull up pictures stored on your computer. It has been a while since I set up my avatar so I might not be remembering correctly. I believe Cheri (one of the Admins) will also assist you in putting up the picture if you send her a message.

I was down to 107.75 Thurs morning. That is the lowest I have been in over 20 yrs. My lowest adult weight was 105.

By the way, the latest issue of Low Carb Energy magazine has a lot of good recipes in it.

Vickie

Betty,
if your picture is too big, you have to put it in a photo program to reduce it (cropping it isn't enough usually). I have photoshop, but I think there is paint program (freeware) that will do it too. I think Cheri will fix it for you, or if you want you can email it to me and I can reduce it for you and email it back.
