Women who are pregnant,
What is a typical daily menu for you? More specificly in your first trimester. IF you were a strict low carber before getting pg, what did you fill was the most important to start adding to your diet? I am not pg, at least I don't think so. So I am just looking for info at the moment. Thanks

Hi Karin,
I felt that it was really important to add milk products (as well as take a prenatal vitamin with folic acid!). I added Total Greek yogurt (lots of people do that anyway for the yogurt fast) and skim milk. I knew I would be naturally increasing carbs (it is not good to be in ketosis while pregnant, so I knew I would need at least 80g carbs/day), so I had to watch fat intake. I loved the Carb Countdown milk before pregnancy, but heard they take out the lactose and I was worried about artificial sweeteners, even Splenda, so I cut that out in lieu of the real thing. When many of us got morning sickness, meat began to sound like the most disgusting thing there is. This apparently is common among pregnant ladies. Of course, meat is a low-carb staple, so it becomes increasingly difficult to low carb. Plus, carbs begin to sound GOOD (and often, were the only foods I didn't throw up.) I would eat eggs if they were hard boiled or poached, but if they were fried or touched butter at all it made me . I also added fruit: cantaloupe, berries, peaches, apples, pineapple...whatever sounded good. No fruit juice, though. I tried to eat veggies whenever I could, but the cooked greens (like spinach, made me ). Salad sounded good though. Also, I added whole grains like oats.Adding a typical menu (first tri): 1 egg, hard boiled 1-2 pieces low carb toast (Sara Lee Delightful Multigrain) Total yogurt cantaloupe peanut butter on celery or apple More Total yogurt Grilled chicken breast between lettuce leaves with mayo, mustard, grilled onion, etc. MAYBE steamed broccoli, if possible salad (but salad dressing with a lot of vinegar= )Peach, raw Milk, skim HTH, Kelley
