Hope everyone is doing well. The weather was beautiful here today with temps in the 70s. It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just one month away. I have been eating at induction (or less) level for over a week. This morning I was at 109.75. I think it will be lower Tuesday morning. Vickie

As we head into this holiday season, I can honestly say I have no interest in the Halloween candy! I have just finished making 19 treat bags for my son's class and 24 for my daughter's and 48 cupcakes total, and not the least bit tempted.
I would rather stick my finger in the peanut butter jar!

Hi, CorgiGirl and gina! Glad to hear both of you are doing well. Fall is my favorite time of year and I am really looking forward to the holidays. Anyone got any favorite recipes they will be using a lot during the holidays?

I'm doing fine today but I really learned an important lesson, all over AGAIN, this weekend. I purchased some sugar free gummy bears from Target which were on clearance. I was hungry and chose to eat them for my lunch (the entire two serving package). I knew they had Maltitol in them but I thought I would be OK. It was such a huge mistake; I was so sick Sunday evening with a terrible upset tummy. Lets just say the pain was really severe and you would think I had taken the most powerful laxative available. I never slept all night and was really tired and feeling poorly at work Monday. I didn't even go to the gym as I had planned. If I had not had my appendix taken out a few months ago I would have sworn I had appendicitis. I believe it is the worst attack I have had from eating somethin I just hope I learned something.

Have any of you ever eaten Pumpkin Seed as a snack? They are my new favorite snack even though they have a lot of sodium in them. Thank God, sodium does not bother me at all.

Heard about a new method of watching carbs today on a local talk show. Someone was talking about the tremendous amount of weight someone had lost by following this simple formula: Divide number of carbs by the number of fiber grams. If the number is less than 8 and there are 3 grams or less of sugar carbs, eat all you want. I guess we hear about something new everyday. Everyone is still looking for the miracle diet. Reckon we have found it?

Don't let them Trick or Treaters trick you into eating some candy. Wouldn't it be MEAN to give out sugar free treats? I can't imagine anyone being that mean to little children. I might give some out to the "over age" Trick or Treaters we seem to get every year (not really).

KUTGW everyone! Granny Ann

Hi Gina and Ann! Gina, I know what you mean--I am no longer tempted by regular sweets. I bake cakes for church events and to give to people, as well as for my family and have no trouble resisting. My favorite snack is an apple with natural peanut butter. Ann, I just don't buy any sugar free candy. I have several recipes for low carb goodies that I plan to make for the holidays. The recipes that I use the most are for Dottie's Pumpkin Pound Cake, a zuchinni bread variation of Dottie's Pumpkin Pound Cake, and Atkins Pumpkin Cheesecake. I also make a sweet potato/apple casserole that is less carby than the original recipe. Ann, you are fortunate that sodium doesn't bother you. I have not tried the seeds for snacks.

I just checked a couple of web sites, it looks as if pumpkin seeds are 4 net carbs per ounce (85 seeds). That's a little high for a regular treat for me, but since I only carve pumpkins once a year, I am going to make and eat the seeds this year. Maybe even put them on salads and some other stuff.

I loved them as a kid, my kids won't eat them though.

Thanks for the idea Ann!

gina - the pumpkin seed I eat state 3 net carbs for 2 ounces. That includes the hulls which is probably a big part of the weight.

Just checking in to see if you all are resisting the halloween candy! I have added an extra mile to my jog/fast walk routine so am up to 3 mi, 6 days a week. I am still trying to get down to 105lb by Thanksgiving but am having a difficult time. I get down under 110 and then the weight goes back up. I am at 112.5 Saturday but hopefully am on the way back down again. How is everyone doing? Vickie

Not one problem with the Halloween Candy. Corgi - Maybe your body is just simply telling you that it is very, very happy where it is. It never hurts to step up the exercise a little. I love to exercise but seem to have problems finding time for it sometimes. I know that is going to get worse with the oncoming holidays. I always get so stressed during the holidays trying to get my shopping done, trying to find out what everyone wants or needs. I'm thinking seriously about making it really easy this year, just giving $$$. How can you go wrong with that? I am not one to do shopping early.

I spent my weekend with my three Daughters at a "Women of Faith" conference in Charlotte, NC. It was so good to be with all three of them and the program was really good. I did not eat the best in the world; it seemed to be hard finding something to eat and everything was so expensive. They would not allow you to bring in any food; even checked purses for it.

Have a good one everyone!

Hi --

I am in the pre-maintainence phase of my lc plan, and was wondering of I could join you in this thread, even though I am not quite maintaining yet. I have 15 lbs to go to reach my first goal, and the I will probably try to lose another 5-10 after that.

I have followed Jonah's Granny very closely over the last year or so, and have gotten alot of wonderful inspiration from her. We are both smaller in stature, so I find her advice very helpful.

Thank you

I have been lc'ing since 1998. I usually stay around 90 lbs, but I go thru times when I slack off and my weight goes as high as 115. I need to hit my goal, and then stay there!!! I hope that will be accomplished by posting on this board. I have been lurking since 1998.

Welcome Laminix - So good to have you. Let us know more about you. Thanks for your nice compliment. Yes, I agree us smaller short people do have our on little struggles. We just don't have as much space to stretch out the pounds and when we get a little heavy it really shows. I bet it is really hard to try to maintain 90 lbs. and I know it must be hard to find clothes. Its amazing how many stores don't carry anything less than a Size 4 unless it is a Junior Size and they don't agree with me. Most the time Junior size pants are too long and too low on the hips for my liking. Anyway, tell us all about you. Granny Ann
