Monday, 10-25 for the Magnif. Mountaineers

Mornin' y'all,

Looks like we're supposed to have a fairly warm week here, today in the upper 70's! As y'all know, that just breaks my heart LOL With the sunshine and warmth, the greenhouse will certainly be happy, and I'll get to do some good waterings without the 'chids staying too damp!!

Shawnee, I reckon I look at all the medical findings with a grain of salt. When one claims something extreme is healthy, I really don't believe it since IMO moderation is really the key. Our bodies were designed to do certain things certain ways, so if we don't take it to extremes and eat more natural instead of processed we will be much more healthy. I did think it was cool when the Physicians Assistant I go to was going over my blood numbers with me and told me my 212 chol. wasn't a worry since my triglycerides were low! Then he even explained WHY when I asked I thought that was very unusual for a medical professional! Not just the 'take a pill' reaction.

Linda, what a shame your allergies kicked in when you came to TN. I know it happens since we have such a good growing season....so EVERYTHING takes advantage of it. About 30 miles from us is the nursery capitol of the world (Mc Minnville TN) and if the rumors are to be believed it is a very high allergy area with all the different nursery stock and requisite blooming. So you're looking at a 4wd? I thought your pickup was?

Loretta, so did you cook up the crappie or freeze it for a later date? How did your DH do with the condom wrapped bandaging? My brother has Hondas and loves them....and one of the guys in his church is a mechanic (on Hondas) so he has a very reliable way to get them fixed as he is NOT mechanically inclined. I'll stick to my older domestics since DH can fix them (and some things I can even fix ). Does your CD writer have the capacity to do the CD rewrite? Most do, so the CDRW's are what you will need to be able to add info to a disk. You should have had some software with a tutorial to help you through all of it--once you find that you'll be JUST FINE!

Zip, yikes on the carpet with the broken mirror and concentrated fragrance addition! Times like that are made for wood floors to speed the cleanup and de-scenting. Just be careful walking around there, looks like Murphy may be lurking still. Have you found a sibling for Phonecia yet?

Jacki, your remodelling pics are WONDERFUL!!! Wow, what a difference! Love that 4' shower, that's what we initially wanted in our master bath, but space restrictions said 36" shower stall. Oh well, I can do the smaller stall just fine. Y'all sure have worked hard on the house, and it really looks good!

Barb, I would imagine y'all have got the 4wd vehicles all ready to go for the winter? When do you usually have your first sneaux to stick around? One of the few winter activities I really had fun with (even though I only did it a few times) was snowmobiling. We didn't have them at home, folks were not the outdoorsy type and were afraid of them I think, but as an adult I did enjoy riding.

TurnNBurn, cool on the 1/4 horses! We have American Saddlebreds here, just the 2, and they are primarily very pretty yard art. My mare is 12 and DH's gelding is 9 I think. I don't have the time (or inclination) to get them past the greenbroke stage, wish they were trail safe and I'd do some riding as I could! That ground is just too hard to be hitting it the way I probably would with a greenbroke. I learned to ride on Quarters, that was primarily what was up in MN where DH and I are from. We also have 5 dogs, ranging in age from 15 months to almost 13 years. Also, we have a greenhouse that we grow orchids and cactus in. We'll be setting up another gh next year to expand our growing area. Like Shawnee said, we are proud of our Vets, and will keep your DD in our thoughts!

Julie and Susan, where are you? Post as you can!

Well, all, off to do my morning lurk! Y'all have a safe and content day!

Hi Ginny, Boy you are up early for an evening shift worker. Hope you got enough rest.

Don't you just love some of these new medical people? Two of my doctors are NOT pill pushers, thank God, and were not at all concerned about my cholesterol numbers because my triglycerides were so low and HDL so high. My allergist was absolutely stunned to see my HDL. Said he had never seen one so high.
When I see him again, I'll have to take Gerard's latest report. Teehee, his HDL is 132.

Yes our Toyota pick up truck is a 4WD, but it's getting pretty old ( almost 15 years )and doesn't have any air conditioning, an absolute necessity here in the summer. So we are thinking of getting one more new vehicle that should last us the rest of our lives.

Mom and I'll be off to Owego, a quaint little town about 30 miles from here, for some retail therapy.

Waving to everyone.

Hi Ginny, Linda,
Not much to report. I tossed a beef stew together sliced from a HUGE chunk of bottom round I got last week for $.99/lb.
It will tend itself for the next 6 hours in the crock-pot. LOVE those pots but the agro of putting together a stew with about 5 vegetables that all need peeling and chopping is long messy work indeed! And the kitchen looks like a DUMPSTER afterwards!

Ginny,
Unless HomeDepot cooperates, Phonecia's sibling will REALLY be a super-sibling; it will be her CLONE which already has four 5" leaves and an aerial root system. I don't want to screw with her now though because she's sporting an 18 inch inflorescence which I'm sure will bud- blast from the bad timing but hope springs eternal.
We too are getting 60 degree days so maybe the gas can stay off for awhile and give her a chance for a winter show.
I wish I could try a Cattleya but alas it would be tossing money away with this due North exposure and we don;t have the room for a lighting system (for anyone but ME and my winter doldrums that is!)

Linda,
What kind of LDL's are you getting to keep those superb HDL's working for their money!

Nothing today but the gym and Monday's Sci Fi Channel's marathon of Stargates all night.

Later.

Well,

I just tasted the BEST soda I have ever had: FRUIT REFRESHERS made by COTT BEVERAGES. I had the cranberry flavor. It tastes JUST like an effervescent OcCean Spray Cranberry C ocktail.
Best is that is ZERO EVERYTHING; calories, carbs, fat, protein.
NUTS, it was on intro sale last week for $.34 a liter...bet it's a LOT MORE this week- I'll check tomorrow.
Sweetened with sucralose and acesulfame-potassium but it has LOTS more bite than the tired old Diet Rite line.

How's THIS for a sweet 'puter deal:

TEN MINUTES til Stargate...and off I go to a distant star!
(Nice workout this afternoon so I'm ready for space travel )

Hi Roger, Wow that is some computer deal. I wonder how reliable E machines are. Guess I'll dig out my Consumer Reports and see if they are listed. LOL we could really use two of those darn things.

Yeah those Fruit Refreshers are great. I'm partial to the grape but will try the cranberry if I can find it.

My LDL has come down from a bit over 200 to 138 and Gerard's is now 79 from just about as high as mine. He is one who eats tons of fat and very few vegetables. Go figure.

Nice lunch with mom. The Cellar Restaurant had a killer, spicy pumpkin soup. Wow it was fantastic!

Spent hours browsing around a place called The Hand of Man. It's full of so much stuff you need a week there. They have some of the most unusual and beautiful Christmas decorations and many other things including exotic foods.

Were the heck is everyone else

Hello Magnificient Ones!

The Baptism is over! Whew! that was sure a tear jerker! DD and I felt very emotional. All the prayers were answered, and there we were, in the Church having her Baptized. The pent up feelings were all released in the form of many tears and sobs. I hope this helps to put closure to that chapter of our life. We have little Ella to celebrate from now on!

What a wonderful event yesterday was! The meal and reception was so well done and dreamy. It couldn't have been nicer. DSon in law sure knows how to put on a good event. He booked the hotel and planned the reception with hor's d(appetizers) and the meal and an open bar, silly boy!

DH and Dsis in law overindulged yesterday,so they were resting up all day. I am always the Designated Driver so no problem for me today. The meal was easy to remain LC except for the chocolate mouse dessert. I ate the raspberries and strawberries and some of the choc shavings over the top and a teaspoon of the mouse, so not too much damage. Lots of water too!

Hope to get back into the swing of things now this big event in our lives is over.

DD bought Ella's Halloween outfit today. A bumble bee! I can't wait to see it. She is busy entertaining her DH's family, 7 of them over from the UK at the moment. Dsis in law flies home on Friday!

I drove DS to the airport this morning on his way back to Florida.

It was a gorgeous sunny day up here today took Oliver on his walk with just a sweat top on. Leaves everywhere though, so a sign the trees are feeling the weather changes.

Ginny, LOVE your Pics, absolutely breathtaking!

I think that is about it from me for now!

Waving to You All as you climb and/or sit at the top of the Summit!

SuSUN!
