Thursday 10-21 for MVM
Mornin' y'all,
Woohoo, looks like our crew is getting back to 'normal'! Great to see our little group with less MIA status ![]() As y'all know, I took Tuesday off from work so I could go with DH to the orchid society meeting and dispersal sale for the botanical garden. The good news is we came home with 6 plants at quite reasonable prices as well as a few supplies (will be getting a quote on the remaining supplies we're interested in later). The bad news is that politics prevails in all aspects of life and some are higher on the political food chain than others and were able to pick over what they wanted before the rest of us had a shot. It was quite disappointing to see that, but we did expect it to happen. I will email pics of what was blooming that we purchased since I haven't figured out a photo hosting site now that PI is going bye-bye. Jacki, great to see you posting again! Congrats on getting some of the projects done...we're doing some here too (livingroom floor) so DH will be busy. I bet you're glad to be on shorter hours this year! Shawnee, YIKES on the 6 yr old and hatchet! The things kids will get in to Kinda like the old story about the kid making some racket....Dad asks 'what are you doing?'. Child replies 'nothing!'. Dad asks 'what are you doing it with?' and child replies 'a hammer'. I know with the pups, the time we really get concerned is when everyone is TOO QUIET LOL!Linda, WOW on the computer guy! That price sounds really reasonable, especially for all that work getting your system back to warp speed again! You'll love the extra memory! Does it feel like you have a new 'puter now? Loretta, a friend of ours was here (state gh inspector, semi annual bug check) and he said that many new systems are coming out without floppy drives....he just got a new computer and will have to buy an external floppy drive for his. Reckon I'll hang on to our 'dinosaur' as long as I can! Hope your DH is feeling ok even with the extra bandaging and he heals up FAST! Susan, how is the visit going? Sounds like you have your plate full these next couple weeks with the christening and family visits! Enjoy and don't run yourself ragged! Julie, have things calmed down a bit in your house now? Did they figure out what was wrong with your DD? Now that the fursitting is done, does Bo miss his buddy? Zip, you must be on the mend if you're thinking of getting back into the workout room.......get healthy now, y'hear! Well, better get my butt in gear for the day......the visit from our inspector has rearranged my morning, but he's always nice to see--super nice guy! All have a good day!

Hi Ginny and those that follow today.
Too bad that the orkids got picked over by the big shots before you all got a chance. Way of the world. But glad that you got some new kids at decent prices. Yes, I think a lot of "build your own" type components for pc owners will be the rule. I really want to hang on to my "golden oldie" too. Guess I give photo bucket a try. Shawnee LOL on the hatchet with the kids. My middle son was always getting the lawn clippers and cutting his hair. There was always a patch missing in front. Those kids sure just "get into stuff". Glad your son had a normal growing up childhood. I think we all have some kind of scars. I looked at the whey protein today but el cheapo here did not want to buy a big container of it not knowing whether or not I would use it up. Any suggestions for substitute for the whey. Julie did Chuck luck out on fixing that refrigerator? It was a small lesion on DH's thumb but it was right by the nail bed. THe reason for the skin graft was that he had to take about an inch of skin off the thumb and with no excess skin available for closing the wound, he needed to get some. He took a small patch off of his thigh. Linda enjoy that more memory. That works great. It sure helped my internet searches too. Glad that you found someone reliable for your pc work. If I run into a wall I have to coerce one of my sons to help. We have a local guy but I don't think he is too swift and you have to bring your pc into him. Zip are you going to build you own website? Maybe we need to do that too. Congrats on the 21 pound weight loss since Jan. I'm going ahead with my cd burner installation today. The next problem will be saving stuff on the cds. I wasn't even sure what kind of cds I needed to buy but the sales person helped me out. Yes Dh has had his share this year of "procedures". Hope we are done for a while. Dh is leaving his bandage alone. He will not go fishing today, thank goodness. He has been ordering new fishing gigs and needs to clear the eyes of paint on them. I stopped in to see my little Leah at day care on my way to the grocery store this morning. She didn't cry seeing me. I picked her up and squeezed and hugged her. She probably wonders who this crazy woman is. What a treat. I will do that again. later folks ( I hope) Loretta Last edited by Loretta V : 10-21-2004 at 11:57 AM. |

Hi gang,
Yes Ginny, it sure is nice to see the MIA's back again. Now what the heck happened to Barb? Anybody know? I hope you can get some pics of the orkids for us. Loretta, I guess the fridge is working ok. Ops, just looked at the thermometor and it's a little below freezing, Hate to mention it to Chuck, seems he gets defensive about it. What is it with these guys? You'd think it was him that was malfunctioning for pete's sake. I'll have to find a way for him to find out. Hope DH thumb heals real fast. Now where are the rest of the gang?

Julie LOL on Chuck getting defensive about the refrig. Just call a repair man, I say. Hope you find out a way for him to find out. "Hey honey can you get me the such and such from the fridge???" When he gets it, he will see that it is frozen.
Got my cd burner installed without a problem. Now I have to figure out how to use it. |

Hi Y'all
Geez, the sun popped out this afternoon...we've had rain so often, I forgot what that shiny sky thing is. Since the lawns have been thriving and greening with all the moisture, I HAD to use the nice afternoon for a dab of mowing....the front at least, to keep up with the neighbor across the street. Hate it when his grass looks better than mine. ![]() Hey Ginny...someday YOU will be a bigshot Grower, and can tell those creeps to stick it ! Glad ya got a few choice specimens anyway. Julie, so true...to question the DH's repair job is asking for trouble...let him find out on his own. Bummer if it takes awhile for his "discovery" tho.Loretta, I swear you sit up nights, figuring a way to back me into recipe corners. ![]() The whey is needed in that one for volume/bulk and as a binding/ firming agent. Xanthan just won't cut it there. I have a monster-size thing of whey, finally after TWO years its almost empty. However, my lil Recipe Buddy....I have some alternative ideas ya might wanna check out;....if any of the following contain choc, just leave it out. I got thesee from various sites, and left on the Posters names. ..................................... filmlass23 I can't remember what website I found this on, but DANG they are good!! When I make them, I make 9 which equals 3 carbs each... (27.66 carbs in the whole recipe) 1 oz unsweetened baking chocolate 1/3 cup peanut butter 2 tbsp butter 1/3 cup ricotta (I use the whole milk variety) 12 packets of splenda 1 tsp vanilla extract Melt chocolate, peanut butter, and butter in microwave over low heat. Stir in remaining ingredients and drop onto waxed paper or into cupcake wrappers. Chill until firm (I pop them in the freezer). .................................................. ............... roselover Peanut Butter Cheese Cake Nibbles 1- 8 ounce brick of cream cheese, softened 5 tablespoons peanut butter, or to taste 1 large egg 6 packets of splenda, adjust to taste 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla preheat oven to 350 degrees mix all of the ingredients together very well, looks smooth. Either spray muffin tin with butter Pam (or whatever you use) or you can use muffin tin liners. Bake for about 20 minutes. Let cool and refridgerate. For a slightly different taste adding some chopped up low carb chocolate candy in the mix before baking. ####If you want something else in peanut butter try this###### Peanut Butter Smoothie ! pint whipping cream 1-8 ounce brick of cream cheese, softened 5 tablespoon peanut butter, or to taste 4 packets splenda or to taste Mix all ingredients together until smooth and creamy you can either put in individual serving dishes and fridgerate or make small cookie shapes and freeze for a frozen treat. For a slightly different taste try adding chopped up low carb chocolate candy as soon as you are done beating the ingredients together. Crunchy peanut butter will work if you want to use it ................................ Chickadee This recipe is not for people on induction. Ingredients: 1 C Splenda 1/4 C Heavy Cream 1/4 C Butter 1 1/2 T Cocoa 1/2 tsp Vanilla 3/4 C Oatmeal 3/4 C Flaxmeal 3/4 C Peanut Butter Over medium low heat, mix cream, butter, and cocoa in a sauce pan, stirring constantly until ingredients are smooth and melted. Remove from heat. Add Splenda and stir until well mixed. Stir in vanilla, oatmeal, flaxmeal and peanut butter. Drop by spoonfuls on to a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper. Refrigerate until cool. Store in the refrigerator. Makes 18 nice sized cookies. According to my calculations, each cookie has about 5 net carbs or 7 total carbs. You could possibly use all flaxmeal instead of the oatmeal for a lower carb count. Make only for special occasions. .................................... Low Carb Luxury Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge Ingredients: 8 oz cream cheese 1 cup Splenda 1 oz. unsweetened baker's chocolate 1/4 cup heavy cream 4 teaspoons peanut butter Melt cream cheese and peanut butter in microwave for approx 2 minutes, stopping and stirring at 1 minute intervals. Melt chocolate in separate bowl until creamy. Combine chocolate with cream cheese mixture and whisk in Splenda and cream. Pour into buttered glass pan and chill at least 4 hours. Cut in squares and enjoy. (This recipe yields a more "gooey" fudge than traditional fudge, but if you want more uniform squares, place pan in freezer for 30 minutes before cutting.) Cut into 16 pieces –– 3.8 grams net carbohydrate per piece. .............................. Peanut Butter Fudge Low Carbohydrate Recipe Ingredients: 1 cup splenda 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder 2 tablespoons crunchy peanut butter 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 2 tablespoons butter Directions: Put all ingredients in bowl with butter on top; do not mix. Put in microwave just until butter is melted. Remove, stir. Put into refrigerator until cool and somewhat solid. ................... WHEW! ....hope there's something above that works for that peanut sweet tooth of yours. ![]() Hi to everyone else, still out gagging lollies........... Shawnee |

Gosh Shawnee, those recipes look really interesting -- I need to try a few new things for the holidays.
Hey Jackie, how's the school lunch program going? Too many carbs for me -- today was lasagna with two big rolls!!! Well, we have winter storm warnings out for tonight and Friday!! It's too early for winter. Where is Fall????I've been having too much sugar lately and need to cut back -- it's addictive -- just like drugs! I need to go watch my favorite show -- CSI Later, Barb |

Hi everyone,
Been running around today letting pup out and had a visit to K Mart for some photo paper. I'm going to try it and maybe even use the transfer paper if I can find an all cotton tee shirt. Don aka Willie will be here tomorrow with the memory card. Still have a glitch with the disk clean up thingy that he will check into. Shawnee, I'm drooling over those recipes and may just get off here and try one. I WANT CHOCOLATE. I think we have some whey protein powder here that may be a year or two old. LOL that sun comes out and the darn grass grows. DH mowed last week to grind up some of the fallen leaves and will have to do it again soon. Fortunately we don't have neighbors to keep up appearances for, just my brother next door on the other side of a patch of woods. Hey Barb, there you are. We were all wondering what happened to you. REAL SUGAR What's going on there? Winter storm warnings, eh? My brother told me they have snow above 4,000 ft, Hope it's just a quick storm and fall will arrive for you. Roger, are you feeling any better? What's this about you setting up your own web page? Splain please. Julie, LOL MEN!! They have to find out for themselves.. Do what Loretta suggested and have him get something out for you. Maybe you can get a new refrigerator. Wouldn't that be nice? Besides, the newer ones are so much more energy efficient. Tell your DH that you will save big bucks on the electric bill. Loretta, Oh how nice that you got to drop in and see Leah. Around here we have to have "mom" leave a note or call before we could drop in. Glad DH is listening to the doctor and not getting that thing wet. Yeah, the skin on the thumb around the nail bed doesn't stretch much and usually needs a graft for a wide resection. Are you learning how to use that new CD burner? I just stick the thing in and download photos or what ever. It's pretty easy. Ginny, Those "big shots" getting first crack at the orchids just isn't fair. Can't wait to see some pictures. You know you can download pictures from your hard drive to yahoo and attach them to e mails. If you don't have a free Yahoo e mail account, set one up and use it to send pictures. Computer is running great right now so it should really purr after the new memory is in. Susan must be busier than a cat covering you know what. Hope the christening goes well for her. |

Barb...what is it about thrusday school lunches....today we had pasta and chicken parmesan. Do all schools have thrusday pasta day?
As for the shorter hours...since Sept 20th I've been working the 6:15am-1:15pm job. The lady that was working that took a different job in the same kitchen. She wanted shorter hours. I"ll be working this until second week of November when the job will be awarded to whomever puts in for it and has the most senority. Hopefully that will be me----I'm going for it. I really like this job...it suits me and the day goes very quickly and I get off work early in the afternoon. I quit my afternoon school job because I didn't want to work till 4pm. This one will have me back up to almost the same amount of hours I had before. XX your fingers for me. Well, that's about all the chatting I have in me tonight. This week is one of those 'can't sleep worth a damn' weeks. All week I've either had a hard time dropping off to sleep or waking in the middle of the night to go potty....and not being able to go back to sleep. Most of the week it was waking at 3am, last night it was 2am.....so I've been up a very very long time. Anyway, I'm one exhausted, sleepy gal. So: Good night, sleep tight. Don't let the bed bugs bite. If they do, take your shoe And beat them till their black and blue. See? I"m getting giddy. ![]() |
