TUESDAY for the RUBY MVM'S

My, it WAS a short group yesterday. I hope everybody is well and you-know-who is enjoying her vacation.

Well I got my days wrong, it's TOMORROW we have theater tickets. Just at the crack of 7AM they called Bob in to work today so it's a nothing day for me. I have a pass to the LOEW'S CINEPLEX so I might just take myself to a showing of GARDEN STATE, a movie that everyone is recommending.

I'm taking some IBUPROFEN and trying to schedule it appropriately (experimentally) with my daily aspirin. News is that the IBU cancels the antiplatelet activity of the aspirin which is a BIG no-no for heart attack prevention:nono:. The IBU really does help with my shoulder pain A LOT! More research needed on my part...anybody want to help?

It looks like a nice day for a bike ride!

Hey all,

Nothing much new here, so short post for me today. SSDD at work, hoping for a nice quiet week there--HA not likely. It's end of month!

Wishing all an enjoyable, content day!

Happy Tuesday

Zip not sure how to help with Ibu vs asa problem. I know that the ibuprofen relieves the arthritic pains a lot better. The nurse advised DH to take them just once a day. He takes about 800mg at one time. Two other times a day I give him tylenol for arthritis.
I keep forgetting to tell you about vit c and homocystine levels. I read an article that said that 500 mg of vit c daily will keep that level in the right range.

Ginny why would the end of the month be busier for you all?

Barb enjoy that phone but they will probably have a record of your calls.

Need advice from the tulip pot gal, Shawnee. I want to start getting ready. Did you buy your tulips from WW or a more sophisticated supplier? I have a $25 off coupon if I order from I just want one pot and think I might put about 30 or 40 bulbs in it. Is that too many??? Did you use bone meal on the bulbs? I plan on buying a rather big pot. (gotta go and measure the one I put my crepe myrtle in)

Will check in later.

Hi everyone,

Just running in real quick but will return later. I'm off to let the dog out and meet my mom. We are going to the used book store to poke around.

Roger, No vacation just yet. It will be after Labor day and I'll let everyone know via e mail.

Hi ya Barb and Ginny. Enjoy your day.

Anyone have a clue as to why my "scan disk" just won't do it's thing? It just sits there and won't complete the initial scan to see how much space I can save. Tried it this AM twice and it just sat there for more than 15 minutes rather than the usual 2 or 3 mins.

Anyway, more later.

Hi Y'all

Here in still-rainy WA, we've been in the mid-sixties to 70° for days, and it sure feels great.

Some street flooding in cities; ok here so far...but major water to fall tonight.

Montana, which fire are ya referring to, we have way too many.
The rains and lower temps, plus wind-die-down, are helping our courageous firefighters. Situation has improved drastically tho!

"Only" a Picasso, huh? LOL...the pic looked Native to me, and the dude on the left looked like he was on a long-eared mule....after getting a larger view, I see its the Don Quixote thing.

OH! I once had a conflict with the Scan and the Defrag...had to defrag before the Scan would complete.

http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/lg_fire2.php

Loretta, LOL..already lookin' forward to next Spring ! Dang, can't remember how wide the tulip pots are...and its raining, and I'd melt if I went to measure

but I think they are 20 - 24" across. Width(surface space) more important than depth.
Drainage a biggie too...can use several inches of packing "peanuts" in the bottom..or pop/beer cans on their sides..LOL..helps keep the water flowing out, and the pot weight down.

I used cheap Wally's tulips..remember, the colors were mis-labeled, and I got some surprises!

We usually plant tulips in the Fall when the night temps are under forty..but...as with all things, its not a proven rule. The bulbs seem to do ok when left in the ground after flowering, and come back again the next year...at least, some of them do.

I left the bulbs in the big pots after blooming, pulled off the withered tops after about 6 weeks..will be interesting to see how many come back in Spring. I'll give them some fertilizer then, when they start popping up.
Yes, I used bonemeal at planting, and two layers of 20 bulbs each, seperated by 3-4" of soil. (total 40 bulbs per pot)

Geez, I'm on a blabby roll, huh?...and its time to do the ol' Finn's lunch.

(By the way, Kawoli means Carol)

Be back later.

Hi all. Nothing new here but a new funny:

A married couple in their early 60s was out celebrating their
35th wedding anniversary in a quiet, romantic little restaurant.

Suddenly, a tiny, yet beautiful fairy appeared on their table and said, "For being such an exemplary married couple and for being faithful to each other for all this time, I will grant you each a wish."

"Ooh, I want to travel around the world with my darling husband" said the wife.

The fairy moved her magic stick and - abracadabra! - two tickets for the new QM2 luxury liner appeared in her hands.

Now it was the husband's turn. He thought for a moment and said: "Well this is all very romantic, but an opportunity like this only occurs once in a lifetime, so, I'm sorry my love, but my wish is to have a wife
30 years younger than I".

The wife, and the fairy, were deeply disappointed, but a wish is a wish...

So the fairy made a circle with her magic stick and - abracadabra, the husband became 92 years old.

The moral of this story.....

Men might be ungrateful idiots.... But fairies are female!

Hi again,

Linda, a THOROUGH Scandisk will take a hefty bit of time on a big hard drive and 15 minute to an hour is not unlikely. The 2 minute quicky is just the STANDARD.
Sometimes it's an aid to turn off all running programs. Here's the easy way:
START>RUN>type "msconfig">choose SELECTIVE STARTUP and de-click the "Load Startup group items"...Might as well defrag afterwards. When you're done with the maintenance chores do the msconfig again and return the setting to NORMAL STARTUP. It's a good thing to do before loading and programs also. Closing them all individually with COntrol-Alt- Delete is like a Chinese Water Torture.
(Let it scandisk when you go to sleep.)

I can't get my E-drive to defrag>>MY mystery. I think it's a DOS program (my CHICKEN INVADERS) that is the wrench in the works...Windows HATES DOS!

Shawnee,
Are you BACK already?

Jacki,
Whenever WE dine out, a fairy appears at the table and asks what we would like to order? Often it's HIM!

Thanks Shawnee for the pot info. Mine measures not quite 17" across. That was the biggest least expensive pot they had for my crepe myrtle. I will look again Thursday when I shop. I realize I must plant them more towards fall but I think I will order them from the catalog with that nice discount.
I had the same problem on the scan and defrag. The scan said it fixed some of my problems. Things seem ok.

LOL Jackie on the joke of the day. Thanks for the laugh.

Loretta

Hi again

Barb, sounds like you are doing lots of advance prep work for your return to the Work World. Hope your first day goes really, really well.

Hey Zip..been back for awhile, just not always available

Jacki, loved the chuckle...I want my own personal fairy.

SuSUN, where are you? Bet you have your wallet loaded with pics of lil Ella, for your return to work.

LORETTA,WAIT! I LIED; just ran out and measured...they are only 16" across by 12" tall !...seemed larger for some reason...damned senility, anyway...

..from last April 13th...the Top layer had started blooming.

Argggg!! Damned computer! The motor or something sounds a bit on the loud side so we took the tower cover off and cleaned the fan. So far it's speeded up a bit but I do think I'll need to call someone to have a look at it.

Roger, LMAO at your comment about fairies.

I tried the regular ol system tool disk scan but it wouldn't complete scan as usual and the motor sound got loud again. HUMMM???. I'll try your suggestion tonight when I'm ready to go to sleep.

If I have time, I'll look around for more info on ASA and ibuprofen. Personally I'll take "pain free with ibuprofen" over ASA any day. Fish oil and Vit E seem to thin the blood too so why not take some of those?

Shawnee, I didn't catch the name of the fire on the national news so I don't know where in WA. it is.
Its good that you are getting rain to help those firefighters out but damn!!! Now you are getting floods?

Loretta, well Tylenol never did a thing for me and if one is even a social drinker, that stuff will cause severe liver damage.

Jackie,
Love that joke. The old goat got what he deserved, eh?

UGH Barb, good luck on your first day back in the salt mines. You have my sympathy.
