SUNDAY for the Vintage Maintainers

Hi everybody,

A GLORIOUS cool and crystal clear morning after a week of GLUE!
We are heading off to brunch in the city around noon...Indian Buffet (am I in a RUT?) followed by a nice long walk throu the West Village and Chelasea.
Anyhoo, I scotched the idea of devising the recipe for Chicken Saag in favor of Ziti with Meatballs (Bob hates Ziti...I tell him IT'S THE SAME AS SPAGHETTI...but NOOOO!) Since I was home alone, I thought I'd take the easy way out...so you'll have to wait a bit on the recipe.

Closest I get to soapmaking and candlemaking is that I make my own Chapstick (and fill the 20 empties ...then it takes me 2 or 3 years to use them up- I'M ADDICTED, can't sleep without it.) I flavor my chapsticks with oil of clove! Ginny, you are going ALL OUT on that soap...any offerings on e-bay a'comin'. Thanks for the tips on the iron-ons.

Loretta,
'Puter was definitely dumped awaiting trash pickup...From the correspondence in MY DOCUMENTS owner was named SOMETHING like Khawaparundiswamirama Khachanjungameyervedalamipur...or something VERY near that! (Made me hungry for today's BRUNCH!...)
Gee, sounds like DH's, wound is infected...Lordy, didn't Lister show them the way to keep things sterile a Centry ago. Antibiotics for awhile...don't want any myositis.

Baseboards:
They are done religiously every 3 years when the painters come in and put a layer of paint on anything that isn't moving!

Linda...LOLOL on the "Pumping Rust."

Have a nice day all and Easterners, ENJOY THIS WEATHER!

Good morning Roger and everyone.

God I'm up too early for me and need lots of coffee to get my brain working.

We just popped the turkey in the oven for dinner later with the moms. Made a half azzed stuffing with some pork rinds, almond flour and a couple of pieces of lc bread. We shall see how it comes out.

It's still foggy here on the hill but the sun is out in the valley. I was looking out the kitchen window and saw a BALD EAGLE Wow! I know they have been seen in the area but this was a first for me. What next? Perhaps a cougar or elephant?

Roger, enjoy that Indian Brunch and this delightful weather.

OY that's quite a name you found in the lap top.How would you like to sign that on your monthly checks?

Off to get more coffee and wake up.

Good morning gang.....

If you lived in the western dry - low humidity areas Zip -- EVERY morning would be nice and clear and cool!!

I do envy your opportunity for such a variety of ethnic foods. One can only eat sooooo much of that Texas chili.

You are up early Linda, and preparing dinner already. You sure do go through a lot for those Sunday dinners. Does everyone appreciate it?

A bald eagle -- that's neat!! I'm sure you won't even see the couger go by -- they're pretty fast. Now a blue whale would be interesting!!

What's with so many over on the GB moving to Florida? Do people just get stuck on their size of the country? Everyone here goes to Arizona!! I can't fathom why anyone would choose to retire in hot, humid, rainy climates. But I guess there must be something desirable with so many retirees living there.

I also need more coffee and will check in later in the pm -- Barb

Happy Sunday to all. Hope you find your day filled with contentment and enjoying some things you really like to do.

Dh is feeling better this am and his pacemaker incision looks like it is healing well. Maybe we will turn the corner soon.

We will be attending a 50th wedding anniversary celebration today at noon. Some church friends of ours. Hope I can watch what I put into my mouth.

Shawnee thanks for the pics on your slide show. I put the blueberry pic in my wallpaper file. I used the one with that bee on the flowers for about a month. Now I have up another one of yours, I think it is some plums with nice green, grayish leaves.

Linda I can smell that bird cooking. I sure like turkey too. Let us know how your stuffing turns out. I have given up eating it.

Barb I guess we can all move that way and enjoy that nice humidity free weather.

Zip I sure hope that thing is not infected. It looks real good today. Enjoy that Indian (again) brunch.

Hi Y'all

We had a lovely 2" of rain, and more to come Our parched ground slurped it up, as did my spirits.

Barb, maybe some people develop the Nomad syndrome when they retire, thinking Life is better somewhere else...and maybe it is. I've seen pros and cons in every area I've lived / visited. Until I hit the Lottery, there will be no Summer/ Winter / vacation homes in the various lands I love.

Ginny...you've found my weak spot for bribery. Love that you're branching out with your talents. Anything homemade/handmade brings intrinsic rewards, sometimes financial ones too.

Zip, a good coat of paint can cover a multitude of sins, ..er...lack of scrubbings. Enjoy that Brunch.
Our heirloom tomatoes ( Cherokee Purple and Pineapple) are ripening now...ugly and misshapen, according to today's hybrid standards, but oh, muy yummy.

Montana, that Eagle was a blessing to see, huh? To me, they are a spiritual icon...a link to Creator...they have almost made a believer out of ol' agnostic Bob, who's now trained to spot them.
Bet that Dressing/stuffing will be fantastic. I'm growing Pineapple Sage, and its wonderful with turkey.
I'd love to see a larger version of your Avatar!!!
My new one is my name in Cherokee...I'm not very good at drawing the symbols with Paint, but its close to Sequoyah's syllabary stuff..

Loretta, sure hoping we get another "improvement" report re your DH. He is in good hands with you being his watchful caregiver.
How's lil Leah doing, and how many teeth?
What are you working on re crafts?

SuSUN, we need a report on the beautification day results. Bet it really lifted your spirits, huh? Are ya gonna teach lil Ellie about the magic of Blueberries? ( that will require several big bibs)

Jacki....I was out in the rain a lot...it was warm enough to feel good!...hehee, also had to unplug an overflowing roof gutter, filled with leaves from that overly-productive plum tree. Can almost "see" the lawn smiling and greening up.

Julie, hope to see ya check in here soon.

EDITED: YAHOO, Loretta! So good to hear y'all are doing so well!

Hey gang!

Just cooked up some Patchouli soap for DH...we'll see what he thinks! I reckon I'm on a roll here yesterday I did a small bit of the perfume base for me with the honeysuckle (DH's fav so far) and a little of the lotion. I like it all very much, and with me being the 'tester' I not only reap the benefit of experience, but I get the stuff too We shall see how long the scent lasts....

Shawnee, WONDERFUL on getting the rain! I know y'all have been so dry this summer. With so much so quick, do you have to worry about flooding/erosion problems? BTW, Sheyshey likes her ears rubbed while you talk sweet to her....more bribery

Linda, so, what time is dinner? The transfer paper just feeds into your printer like regular paper, just follow the directions on the package as to which side goes up and you'll do FINE! Try it, it's fun!

Loretta, glad DH is feeling better. Now he can keep improving for you and be back to himself!

Zip, enjoy your cooler day and adventures!

Barb, I think everyone retiring wants to go just somewhere else. For those with snow, they don't want it anymore, for those with heat, same thing. When I retire, if I don't like the weather, I reckon I'll just STAY INSIDE!!!

Farrier is on the way....L8r y'all!

Hi Ya,

Thought I would check the BB as I was busy at the beauty salon yesterday. Had a wonderful colour, shampoo with long head massage, (the ole brain needed that) and to finish it all of with a cut and blow dry. It was a nice treat from the kids.
Thanks for asking how it went Shawnee.

Nothing much else going on. Did lots of chores today, sorting cupboards and drawers, seems such a task. I am so glad once they are straight and tidy again!

Ginny,
Hope your soup turned out good for your DH! Don't mix the candle-soap making mixture with the soup pan! LOL!

Shawnee,
Do you ever sit out when the rain comes down, sheltered of course. DH and I love to sit in the garage and watch a storm come down, could be the old British blood craving the rain.
Glad it perked you up along with your flower beds!
LOVE your new Avatar, seems everyone is having a make over. It took me so long to get Oliver up and running, I think I will stay with him for a tad longer. He was 3 years old today!

Barb,
DH and I would love to retire to Florida too! We would never have chosen FLA if DS had not moved down there. We have visited him over almost a decade now and love it, especially in February when all up here is frozen tundra. Our plan would be to come back north for the summer months. Yep, you are so right about that humidity and heat in the summer, ya gotta have some place north to cool off. Not sure if we will ever realize our dream, but that's the plan.

Linda,
Good for you, up and at 'em early and the Turkey in the oven, that reminds me I have to thaw some pork for tomorrow's supper. It is hard to remember all the set-up cuz most of the day is over at DD's.
Still having lots of Fun! Ella is smiling and has the odd giggle which is so cute, after 6 weeks. I am basically the support person, handholder. I keep telling DD that she is doing everything so well but she still insists on me being there.
Shawnee is right seeing the Bald Eagle is a blessing. I have a girlfriend that tells me that every animal has a totem, represents something in your life. I think she said the Bald Eagle is your higher self, soar above the crowd. Great stuff!

Loretta,
Glad to see ya back posting. Things sound like you have turned a corner. I am sure that you are giving your DH the Royal treatment, with that special TLC from those caring hands, he cannot do anything else but get better.
Enjoy the 50th today and the company.

Roger,
YOu will be wearing a turban soon, eating all that curry! LOL!
It is so addictive those spices, most Brits are addicted to it since we had a large and steady influx of immigrants from India since the mid-60's, so we are all hooked.
Much better that the bland English Fare!

Wavin to Julie, Jacki, and y'all.
