SATURDAY for MVM
Hello, everybody,
My Saturday undies are ADORABLE (a leather THONG) with a BIG S on the front (or is it Sunday). Well, it looks like our theater tonight will be the second board casualty of Hurricane Charley (Susun's DH's flight being #1.) Weather Channel has changed a lovely Saturday to RAIN through the weekend starting early evening and HEAVY! I love my my scale this morning: 209 # and VERY near what I want as my new MAINTENANCE goal of 205. I started the year at 232# from the ear surgery complications and 6 weeks of prednisone last summer and then recovery and BANG, the angioplasty and stent. I think I'm holding my muscle mass much better than last time with Atkins (at 197 my musculature looked savaged and face all hung and drawn.) The combination of gentle caloric loss, drastically lower fat intake, and STEADY weightlifting and aerobic workouts seems to doing be the trick for me.I'm SOOO happy with that 23# loss. Susan, We looked at some of the Real Estate in Cornwall (internet)...oy what UGLY houses. Looks like slums housing in Missippi . Maybe the offerings on the internet weren't representative. Then we peaked at Montreal...Sheesh, that's an expensive place to live, even at .76 to the dollar.Gee, I'd forgotten that the Capital was so far East I guess I overlooked that long arm of Ontario that goes UNDER Quebec.) Sure we'll meet for lunch when we get our Passports back and our get visit to THE GREAT NORTH (well, the South part anyway) together. They tell us 6-8 weeks for the PP. Loretta, How's DH doing with that wound drainage? Ginny, Glad your mail/computer order is doing so well. I envy you your County Fair, we both LOVE them but New Jersey really isn't the state for them. Linda, I used S&B Golden Curry as my base for all my curries. It's a half pound box that consists of 12 BLOCKS (like HUGE softer bouillon cubes) and 2 are added per cupful of liquid. Start with lightly sauteeing some onions and green peppers til slightly soft and add water and either your meat or veg. Cook til done (only about 20 minutes for cauliflower). Add appropriate number of blocks and cook dfor 10 minutes more. Takes much more cooking for meats. That's all you NEED to do but I usually add Garam Masala to the sauteeing onions-peppers, and some more Patak's Vindaloo Paste. (Yesterday's cauliflower came out yummy but a BIT too spicy for me (and WAY hot for Bob.) I bought a JILLION boxes of Golden Curry wheen I lost my International Foods and am down to the last box...I don;t know WHERE to get more. It rreally cuts the work and though in HALF! OK, Off for some coffee...Love to all!

HI to Zip and Barb
The bleeding continues, but the pacer site has really gone down. I am beginning to think that there is a slow leak of blood. I am watching his pulse and bp incase he is losing too much blood, but I think not. We will see the doc Tuesday am. We will both feel better to get this mess cleared up and so will you all. Congats Zip on that very nice 23# loss. You sure are not very far from your new goal of 205. Can you order that Golden Curry from an on line site? I guess that Charley was a lot stronger than they anticipated and going inland very far. Barb hope you get a chance to rest too after all of that running. Linda the skull lesion will go undiagnosed because Dh does not wish to have chemo or radiation therapy if the test is positive for cancer. His first wife had cancer and had both tx for cancer. It just prolonged her poor quality of life. Guess they would have to go into skull to biopsy. We will follow up with internist. But Dh has lost more weight and one of the lab tests was indicative of cancer. I agree with DH on his choice and support his decision. We will take one day at a time. Doc said to watch for headaches. Will peek back later. Loretta |

Hi everyone,
Roger, Congratulations on that 23 lb. loss. That is fantastic! It's great that you finally found what works for you. So how about some new pictures?I'll try that curry recipe but won't make so hot that I'm dancing around yelping. Have you done an INTERNET search to see if you can buy S & B curry powder on line? The sky is a funny color, if memory serves me, it's BLUE and there is a strange bright light there too. Tonight more rain is on it's way though. Sorry your plans for tonight will be disrupted by all the rain. Barb, LOL all you have to worry about inland are wildfires and mountain lions. Have fun today. Loretta, Hopefully the bleeding is just part of the hematoma draining and no further intervention will be necessary. Some of those things do drain for a long time. It's understandable that your DH doesn't want chemo. Quality of life is so much more important than quantity. You will both be in my thoughts and prayers. My grand brat called on her cell phone last night from Naples, FLA and is fine. They don't have power or phones but still have a roof over their heads. There is a lot going on in our little city today including a Garlic Festival. That should be interesting. Has anyone ever tried Garlic Ice cream? Here are some pictures of Nick that I took last night. ![]() ![]() Last edited by LoveMontana : 08-14-2004 at 11:08 AM. |

Hi Guys!
I am here after that awful night last night in FLA. I was speaking to DH then the line went dead, cuz the portable phone was on an electric plug in thingy. Anyhoo, they did ride out the storm. The sky went turquiose DS said with silver lightening, huge gusts of wind and rain. DH's flight today, ofcourse was cancelled they gave him a 1-800 number to re-schedule, the silly Guy gave him a flight for 4:10p.m this aft, which was the next scheduled flight and gave him a confirmation number and all the connections. DH thought wow, the airport must be okay and open. He arrived after driving for over an hour to find a crowd with similar stories but no personnel to ask a question. The airport was closed, some damage to two terminals. Whew what a waste of everybodies time and effort. DH called again the same number, they said the airport would not be open till Tuesday, duh! How come they didn't know this earlier? So, he is booked on a flight at noon on Tuesday all being well. They have no power, or phone as DS's cell needs charging. He did manage to get a few calls out of it after charging in the car or something. The phone at the warehouse and the store work but the house phone doesnt, go figure! Anyhoo, they are safe and sound, cooking on the BBQ, making tea on the BBQ and sitting with candles. I guess they will be having some Father to Son "male bonding" for the next few days until the power comes back. Glad to hear all your relatives that a living in FLA are safe and sound too! Quiet around here this weekend! Got lots of chores done today, keeping busy. SuSUN ![]() |

Hey all,
Glad everyone's people are safe in FL! Yikes, I'd hate to ride something like that out....not much fun at all. Today we made a quick run to town, then back here and my cousin, his DW and their DD visited for a while. It was good to see them, and they are pretty much moved in to their house now. All my cousin lacks is getting his shop built and then will be back in the woodworking business. His photo album of things he's either made or refurbished is amazing! Loretta, to you and DH, hope the bleeding stops soon and there's no other problems. I completely understand his refusal of radiation/chemo were he diagnosed with cancer. I've seen how that lowers the quality of life, and I'd most likely make the same choice for myself. How are you holding up through all this? Email me if you need to vent, or let me know and I'll email you my #.Susan, I know you are so very relieved your 'boys' are safe! There will be a tremendous amount of cleanup and reconstruction there, so we'll all watch the price of lumber SOAR. Tragedies bring out the best and worst in people, and there will be unscrupulous ones out there taking advantage. Linda, so you saw that strange light in the sky, huh? Just another reason to move south...you'll see it more often! How close was your DGB to the hurricaine? Did you make it to the garlic fest? I don't think ice cream is the proper place for garlic...I agree on the Barb, don't forget to just take time to relax this weekend. Your grind will start early enough! Sorry to hear about your pup being put down....so very hard to go through. Zip, I reckon y'all will get your share of the rain now that the storm is meandering towards you. Saw on the news that it should be just a tropical depression by the time it gets to you, so maybe it won't be too bad. Keep a flashlight handy just in case, and don't forget to check the batteries! Well, DH is watching a movie, so I'm off to lurk for a while. All have a contented evening!
