FRIDAY DA TOITEENTH for DA MVM
Hey Guys,
Looks like Charlie is deadly serious; they evacuated Tampa. Some of those towns are 4 feet tall and a surge of 10 feet will go miles inland with the force of a locomotive. Started day with a Dark Chocolate hangover...I REALLY shouldn't EVER eat that stuff but it CALLS me like heroin (not milk chocolate though?)! Linda, I saw that day of wave after wave of rain that you had yesterday. That's what we got on Wednesday (near 5 inches a Kennedy airport)...bad flooding your way? We may be stuck indoors day but I think we have a window of no rain til late morning. Now don't HOLLER at me: the 3820 is STILL in it's box. Does it have both ink cartridges in it (color and B&W)? Are you still on the originals? (need incentive here) Shawnee, I'm so glad you liked your RAITA. I went NUTS for the stuff when I was making yoghurt by the gallon and cucumbers were 4/$1 (not anymore.) I'm with you on CARDAMOM. When I'm sent to my final torching, I want to be wrapped in a sheet full of cardamom before roasting to a turn. I bought a containerful of Garam Masala (about 2 pounds) that will last me LONG after FOREVER (I miss my International Foods Mart) Julie, Bo looks so cute in his outfit even though I know he felt humiliated. A sign of a nice, loving dog that he lets you torture him! Susan, Thanks for clearing up the passport thing...guess it's no visit to Cornwall for 6-8 weeks til I get mine (had to send the old one in and I'm SURE they'd turn their noses up at my Xeroxed copy.) To all a good weekend. Theater tomorrow for us (Maybe Puerto Rican food for din)Roast Duck ala Roger tonight with curried cauliflower. (I'm gonna reverse psychology this Friday the 13th thing and buy a lottery ticket today.)

Good morning everyone.
A nice cool morning here....door open and tv OFF. Have to hear the hummers outside. Loretta? How's DH? Barb, good luck with that meeting. Sorry it's dragging out. Julie, that pic of your pooch is adorable. My dad was always shopping for new 'dresses' for Sadie. Usually from Goodwill and thrift shops. Susan, Yay on the pacifier! I have never had a problem with those...whatever works I say. Now---5 year olds with them just looks silly. Carol, your friends sound so interesting. Nice to have them visit. Nice they have you to come to. I'm counting down the days till back to work. I dread it as I found out we are losing 2 of our ladies in my kitchen. Damn! What a way to start the year. Sept 8th is back to work. Ok, I finally finished my three chair project. Here's all three chairs plus the before photo. before: ![]() Chair 1: ![]() Chair 2: ![]() Chair 3 for Me! ![]() |

No Zip, I stripped the fabric off the backs and glued tiles to them. Then used grout mix to grout them. Thank you.

Hi to all
We did not end up staying at the hospital, nor did we get the hematoma drained. THe nurse practioners (looked at it, doc is out of town until Tuesday). They cleaned it up and decided that a dose of antibiotics would be beneficial even if we still have to open it up. Don't want the pacer wires or pacer to get infected. But there is a drainage hole and it has been draining old blood on its own. We have been applying some pressure to make more of the blood come out. Maybe by Tues (our next appointment when doc is back) it will be "cured" Another chest xray yesterday, DH will be glowing. Cool here too Jackie. Had to put on a jacket for my walk. Hard to believe that in August. The chairs are wonderful works of art, all of them. Such different designs. Too bad about some of the help quitting, maybe they have some new ones lined up, but that orientation is tiring for the old ones. Barb glad the prayers kicked in and you were able to shut your mouth. That must have been very difficult. Guess the reverse prayers worked too since we could be at home last night and will take the draining matter into our own hands. I saw the news on Zip's governor and I thought that was ridiculous that it was even mentioned. I also heard that those marriages in San Francisco were invalid. IT does look like the info between us and canada is quite simple. Years ago I was in Canada and we did not need a passport for entry. SuSun you and Dd are just now getting around to the pacifier. They are lifesavers. Leah uses hers frequently. As long as they don't have to have them by kindergarden, I say go for it. Most times by 2 or 3 they are done with them anyway. Congrats on getting those pounds off. Julie hope you get to take some nice pics at the Bichon showing. Sounds like a fun event. Hope the little doggies behave. Hope Bo is sporting the Mariners outfit. Too cute. Your orchid is beautiful. Thanks for the pics. Shawnee thanks for the thoughts and prayers too. Just taking one day at a time here. You found some food to experiment with again, those cukes and yoggi. Glad you are enjoying them. Did you grow your own cukes? Nice that your friend can find you for her sounding board and gift giving. You sure are a great listener. That is an art in itself. LInda how are the plans going for your trip to Montana. Will you be traveling with your brother in the same vechicle? I know you are anxious to go since you missed it last year. Hey to Ginny, how about this weather? Great stuff. You will need your long jeans for a few more days. Later folks, Loretta |

Hi y'all
Lovin' this cooler weather, only see Eighties for highs during the next week. Awww, Zip. I liked listening to JC's voice more than paying attention to her methods. Read some time back that her TV kitchen had been dismantled, and installed in the Smithsonian. Yeah, the Raita ia definite keeper. Jacki, of course my friends are interesting....aren't you? ![]() Relatives are part of Life's Package Deal, but we get to choose our friends. I'm blessed to have them. Do we get to VOTE on the chairs? All lovely, but I choose #1. You did a fantastic job on each one. Good thoughts and continue for your DH, Loretta.EDITED: Loretta, you pushed the SUBMIT button while I was still composing ![]() Sure hoping for the best for your DH. I didn't plant Cukes this year; just several kinds of toms and squashes. Nice neighbors and I share with each other. Be back later, gonna get back to this mild morning outside. Hey all,
Got my in town running done, dinner is finished, all I have to do is water in the gh before I go to work. Still cooler here, blue jeans weather for sure at work. We got some more money orders this week so more plants will ship out on Monday. Hoping for a windfall in tomorrow's mail--LET'S CLEAR SOME BENCH SPACE!!! Our county fair will be starting up later this month, so I have to figure out what plants I want to bring to exhibit. Of course, none of the 'really good ones' will go, since it is for a week and I don't want them out of my gh for that long (not to mention the possibility of damage in such a public setting). I will be bringing some cacti as well as orchids. I'll have to look and see which large cactus/succulent gets to make the journey--see who's looking the best this time of year. That's always fun to carry in. Maybe I'll grab the 2-wheeler! Loretta, so glad you and your DH didn't have to make the overnight stay. that all is cleared up by the next visit! I hear you on the jacket...I have my denim jacket in the vehicle just in case I need it at work after dark. The guys will laugh at me, but shipping is the coolest part of the plant!Shawnee, glad your high temps have broken! We get our pics back tomorrow, and if I like 'em, I'll post. You'd love our middle child...she's not a morning pup and when we get up she's usually on the 'squishy rug' still sleeping. She looks so sweet and innocent then! Jacki, WOW on those chairs! You've really done a great job! Love the creativity, and they can be planted for any season Linda, I too can pack us light. I have a large duffel bag that I can fit our clothes and toiletries in for a week and still be able to carry it! Of course, laundry facilities are a necessity, but laundromats (if nothing else) are easy enough to find. If it's just us, we can travel really light, but we're usually toting plants and other various articles when we go to visit family. Zip, ok, you know dark chocolate (yum!) gives you the nasties. DON'T EAT IT!!! Sheesh, you men! Yep, it looks like FL will really be catching it. We will probably get some storms floating this way in the next few days depending on the hurricane's path once it hits land. Julie, ya done great with Dolly the Denrobium! She's really showing off for you after all your good care I still can't imagine that many dogs of ANY breed in one place. Hopefully all will get along well and no one needs to be separated. If I were to try to dress any of my gang up, they'd disown me! Barb, I know what you mean about meetings. As long as I've been at my current job, I've about given up putting in my .02 worth. It does absolutely NO good, so why waste my breath! One of Murphy's laws LIVES there: there's always one more idiot than you plan on. Unfortunately those idiots are in charge. Susan, good deal on the pacifier! I see no problem using one of them so long as the kids get weaned off them about the same time they quit the bottle. How are Sassy and Oliver handling having a baby in the house? Well, off to finish stuff around here. Y'all have a great day!

Hi everyone,
WE just got back from Sam's Club and what a PITA that is, especially on a busy Friday. Not my idea It's cloudy with sprinkles here, a bit of a respite before we get the leftovers from Charlie. I'm getting a bit worried about my oldest grand brat. She lives in Naples . Keep your fingers crossed gang.Roger, yes the printer comes with both cartridges and they have lasted forever, it seems. The black ink indicator says it's ready to change, but the print still looks fine. I picked up some black at wally world for $23.00. Not bad at all. Now get the darn thing hooked up. Small stream flooding and the rivers are high but not at flood stage...yet Curried cauliflower??? Recipe please. ![]() Loretta, you must be so relieved that your DH didn't have to stay overnight in the hospital. Hopefully the hematoma will drain by itself without surgical intervention. That's not fun. Been there, done that. Any more news on his scalp lesion? No my brother, his wife and my mom are flying out and we will meet them there. They are only staying for a week, darn it! Jackie, those chairs are a work of art!! Wow, I'm impressed with your talent. Sorry those two are leaving you and your crew short handed. Hopefully the school will hire more replacements. No fun training them, but with any luck, they will be of help later. Julie, we want pictures of Bo after his bath. Don't forget to take lots of them of the Bishon get to gether. We all love those little guys so much and enjoy feasting our eyes on them. Ginny, How great that your e bay business is taking off. Hope it will turn into a money maker for you. Can't say as I blame you for not wanting your best bloomers left for a week at the fair. It's far too risky. Do you stay there for the entire week? Yeah packing light is something I learned over the years. Laundromats are really easy to find and most hotels have them accessible for public use. LOL the one we frequent in Missoula is quite something...Laundromat, convince store, CASINO!!! I can live for a month with 3 pairs of jeans, 4 or 5 Tees, jammies, undies and a jacket. Susan, Gotta love those pacifiers, eh? Plug the little critters up and they are happy as clams. I don't know how you do it. Babies are cute but I only like to be around them for an hour or so every once in a while. Yes we are going to Montana. My other brother lives in Missoula so we keep up on the weather and fire conditions. No worries this year to speak of. Shawnee, sorry about your un cooperative "Dolly" orchid. Guess it pays to be really nice to them. LMAO yes I do find my undies in the girls dept but haven't bought the days of the week set yet. Maybe I'll make a trip and pick some up. Might help me keep track of what day it is. ![]() Hope you had a nice visit with your "other son" the cop. You must be quite a wonderful woman to have so many people respect and love you the way they do. Hey Barb, you are holding out on us. Let's see a picture of your fur baby. off to cook some fish. |

Hi All,
I have been glued to CNN checking in on Hurricane Charley. Managed to speak to DH briefly and then the power went off and his phone too. DS was able to call on his cell. The neighbours next door had their barbeque lid blow off, banana trees, flattened and some large branches completly broken off all over the driveway. He said that he will call around 11p.m. to let me know if all is calm. Seems it is over now, just lots of rain and windy. DH's flight is cancelled in the a.m. and he was told to report to the airport for a later flight. He could be waiting around all day, if he gets a connection right away, they said he could be arriving home around 4:30p.m. I'll be there at the airport to pick him up. Ella and DD had another terrific day. WE managed to get to the Baby Clinic for a "weigh in" this morning, 9lbs 13 1/2oz then DD fed the baby, as there was a quiet area with cosy armchairs. DD was getting tired and hungry, so we went over to a small mall. We managed a subway sandwich and latte. We had the Atkins wraps 11 carbs per wrap, I discarded 1/2 my wrap, it tasted really strange, the inside was good, melted swiss, bacon over lean chicken and lots of salad fixings and olives. So glad to hear from Loretta. Hoping you get the all clear by Tuesday and it has fixed itself by then. Sounds like you are keeping the drain working. Keep those A/B coming. We offered her a pacifyer several times from around 10 days and she has kept refussing it, it is only when we bought a selection of different ones that she finally took one of them. Trial and Error or what????. Roger, Do lemme know when you will be in Cornwall, it is an easy drive from here. I will meet ya for lunch, East Indian of course! Happy to see y'all are doing okay for a Friday the 13th! LOVE the way they say it in NJ! Thank you on the well wishes on those 3lbs gone. I really can't believe how easy it was to get them off! No Baby shift tomorrow, just the airport for DH. SuSUN Last edited by SuSUN : 08-13-2004 at 09:08 PM. |

Hi Y'all
After a nice cool start, we wound the day up at a hair under 90°...and same thing predicted for the next...forever.. ![]() OH, my Kingdom for a drop of Rain ! (Shut up Shawnee...remember Montana's situation (and Florida!), so be careful what ya ask for!) SuSUN, good to know your DH and Son seem to have gotten thru the worst of it. ![]() GBrat's SIL is here from Melbourne FL (Army wife, DH off on a mission)..she's scheduled to return there Monday, and is leery of course. Hehee, lil Ella wanted a pacifier that felt like the real thing, huh? She's putting on weight nicely. Hoping your DH is able to hurry home! (That weird taste in the wrap was from Soy Flour) GBrat just returned from Victoria, BC this afternoon. She traveled with several relatives by car...for AM Citizens, Passports not required. Several of her relatives made the trip there on the Victoria Clipper that I posted about yesterday. BurkPup was glad to see his Mom. OH, Barb...sorry about the confusion re your Lab! Ours went down in Nov. Those FurKids sure leave a big empty spot behind. ![]() Enjoy those two Pups to the fullest ![]() Montana, when ya get those Days of the Week panties, would ya pick up a set for Zip too? He could hang them over his puter to check ...cause he obviously has a broken/lying calendar. ![]() Hoping y'all don't experience flooding ![]() HAHAAHAAA,..NO..I'm not wonderful at all...I just hold on to the friends who have values I can respect.. BTW, the "gifts" from my Indian friend are not the kind you'd expect; they are Indian-style....(bad form to show up empty-handed!) Some have included pretty rocks for my pond, interesting pieces of wood, canned salmon, sacks of tobacco, plants... Ginny, sure hoping those pics turn out well...wanna see! Its really difficult to put your delicate plants on display, at the mercy of careless molesters! How bout a front line defense of Cacti, with Orkids behind??? (suppose they have to be in separate catagories tho, huh?) I am continually shocked at the carlessness of crowds in Shows and Fairs. (SIGN) WARNING : This plant secretes finger-dissolving sap! Gonna try to make it out to Farmer's Mkt in the AM...great time of year for fresh local produce. Julie, take a deep breath! ..and have FUN with all those Pups ![]() Happy weekend to All. Aww Barb, I'm sorry. We have all been there, done that with our beloved fur babies. Just bask in the warm memories.
Susan, it's wonderful to learn that your son and DH are safe. That was one hell of a nasty storm. Julie have fun tomorrow. Shawnee, those are the best gifts one could ever receive. From the heart and so very natural. Indian gifts are the BEST! Hope you get some of this darned rain since you desperately need it. Humm, that's a great idea. Roger should expect a package of undies soon. Just got a cell phone call from grandbrat, Desiree, in Fla. Whew!! They have trees down, roofs off, lost power and phone lines but are OK. That's the most important thing. Baby sat tonight for the new little one ( Nick) and the girls so mom and dad could get out for a quick dinner. Took some pictures and will post them tomorrow. Night all. |
