Friday of Vintage Maintaining
Good morning, My little skinny chickadees!
A DELIGHTFUL cool, crisp morning In New York City and all the way to the southern suburbs of Lorettaland and Ginnyland! Linda and Susan, you must have your Long Joans on! OK, You gals have proved my point: God knows, we ALL know how you (and all around you) suffer when your flow of estrogen goes poof. Do you ever hear any men whining about how much fun it is to have TESTOSTERONE and the ANDROGENS of maledom dwindle "to a PRECIOUS FEW" (...September Song knockoff). We GENTLEMEN have to suffer in silence when out guts proturude an extra inch from LOOKING at a piece of pie; when all those nice muscles turn to FATBACK because we skipped 2 workouts in a row; and when WE have to moan: "Not this month dear, I have a HEADACHE!" Having hair fall from out heads in the silghtest breeze but yet sprout in wiry masses on out backs, shoulders and friggen EARS is DISGUSTING! <ecch, pass the clippers!> See what I mean...I don't begrudge you your little youth pills, but why should OURS be illegal. Hell, KEEP them out of the hands of Olympians but let the old fartes like ME have them... and at a REASONABLE price. Do you know when it becomes ETHICAL to prescribe OXANDROLONE? When someone has the cachexia of FULL BLOWN AIDS...now, is THAT fair? Does society think to ask WHY women live 5 years longer...does anyone CARE? That's what I call sexist descrimination. I want some cheap STEROIDS ...and it shouldn't take a YANKEE first baseman's salary and a drug dealer to get them. 'Taint fair... , men want to look and feel young as long as possible. Society's acceptance is behind the curve ...remember when someone would whisper "He dies his HAIR" or scorn the poor doofus wearing one of those hideously made "rugs" while women got these opulent Rita Hayworth WIGS.WAAAH, I WANT MY MAYPO! <end of rant! > Eccch, remember MAYPO?Jackie, That chair is wonderfully imaginative. I hope you used some stong man-made material like nylon for the seat sack so it doesn't rot away. It's too pretty not to last! It reminds me of something Lewis Carroll would have dreamed up. Good you Westerners got a taste of the wet stuff. Every little bit helps keep the fires at bay. Linda, It sounds like your Anniversary was a nice one and all that wonderful shellfish had my mouth watering...I wish we had a Red Lobster at Newport...nearest one is about 10 miles and that's just TOO FAR to walk. None in New York City as far as I know. My mom always took us when I visited Allentown and it was always good. Bob and I stopped a lot when coming back from the Jersey shore...but we don't do beaching very often any more and when we do, it's usually Fire Island on the LIRR. Julie, I'm so happy that your orKID finally made her appearance...bet she goes great guns from now on since she seems to have BONDED to you. Shawnee, I bought a cute new personal tape recorder and I'm going to make an "Eat only when HUNGRY auto-suggestion tape" with a side order of "You LOVE the gym...it makes those ANDROGEN DEPLETED MUSCLES ![]() grow no matter HOW hard old age fights the process."I thought about making one on a CD but I got a headache trying to figure how to get a voice pattern onto my harddrive and then into a wave file or am mp3 for recording a CD-R...I think I COUKLD do it but a tape is SOOOO much easier! Susan, Ginny, Loretta, Barbie...A lovely weekend to you all.

YIKES!!! How do you follow that post??? LOL If it makes you feel better Roger, I don't take ANY hormones myself. I'll age gracefully, at least thats what I say. Hubby says, I'm going down fighting every little inch of aging. Every grey hair and wrinkle!!!
Raining cats and dogs here this morning. We need it so bad but damn it's depressing. I'll keep in mind how much it will green everything up and sure douse those wild fires. So I'll be thanking the dear Lord for every drop that falls. DGS first birthday was Wed. and the party is tomorrow. Will be a different gathering without DD but it'll sure be a on a happier note. Our 41st anniversary is next Tuesday and we'll get out of town for the day and night. Planned a little longer trip but with all thats been going on, we'll make it a quick trip. I don't mind. DH was suppose to be done working (AGAIN) this week but said he'll work a few days next week too. Then back to his projects in the basement. Happy days for him!!! Off to take Nick to drug court. Gosh, he's a good kid. He's applying to the school district to let him go to our alternative high school to finish out his senior year. Hope they accept him. Keep your fingers crossed. Later..... P.S. Roger, guess we both like W.C. Fields!! ![]()

Good morning from cool and dry upstate NY. It's 57 degrees and was down to 41 last night. It seems like we aren't really going to have any real summer here this year.
Tonight is the start of a three day Hot Air Balloon and Spiedie festival here in town. The sky will be full of 50 colorful balloons later this evening and again at 6 AM and 6 PM on Sat. and Sunday. If the winds are blowing in the right direction, we may be able to get some pictures. Poor Gerard has to renew his drivers license today. LOL for 8 years can you imagine? My mom did last year and she is 80 years old. NYS just wants that money NOW. Roger, I just don't understand why men can't have HRT for their symptoms just as we women do. It isn't fair at all. Next time I'm at my doctors, I'll ask what his thoughts are on the subject. Can you get them off the INTERNET from Canada or Mexico? LOL oh gosh I used to LOVE Maypo, cream of wheat and cream of rice. Julie, it's great that you are getting some much needed rain. Hopefully you won't get too much like we did. So where are you going for your anniversary? It's good to hear that Nick is absolutely thriving under your watchful care. Good for you for helping him. Jackie, Wow 10" lion tails? I don't think I've ever seen them in this area. Thanks for sharing those wonderfully colorful pictures. Shawnee, the bears are more than welcome to all of our wild berries. They are far too big for me to tangle with. Thank God for farmer's markets. Let them do the dangerous work of picking them. So do you like that new flour? Been toying with the idea of ordering some from that "shady" place. Waving to Susan, Loretta, Barb,Ginny and lurkers. An old woman is riding in an elevator in a very lavish New York City building, when a young and beautiful woman gets into the elevator, smelling of expensive perfume. She turns to the old woman and says arrogantly, "Romance by Ralph Lauren, $150 an ounce!" Then another young and beautiful woman gets on the elevator, and also very arrogantly turns to the old woman saying, "Channel No. 5, $200 an ounce!" About three floors later, the old woman has reached her destination and is about to get off the elevator. Before she leaves, she looks both beautiful women in the eye, farts, then says, "Broccoli, 49 cents a pound! |

HI to all
Love that broccoli joke, Linda. What a hoot!! I'll have to pass that on to DH. Glad that you are walking safely and away from the bear. 8 years before renewal of that license. That is quite a while, I think ours are only for 4 or 5 yrs. Did he have to take a vison test? They don't test anything here in Ky. Just take your pic and renew that license. That hot air festival sounds great, hope you get some pics. Shawnee you sure have a great memory about me sending those bars to my sis. That sure was a goof up since I had the wrong zip code on the package and when they did get there, they were molding. Jackie thanks for the pics of your chair and flowers. They sure are tall flowers. Your chair looks great. What did you put in the bottom of it to put the flowers in? I want to find an old bbq grill somewhere that has room for flowers on its top and side arms. Now don't you beat me to that one. Susun my DIL tried to nurse Leah but ended up going to the bottle. Your DD is lasting longer at it than she did. Hope you get to visit us more regular like soon. Ella must be growing like a weed. Leah is staying healthy lately. I had here here last night for a few hours while both mom and dad were working. She is become aware of the fact that I'm not her mom and gets leery of us. She has lots of teeth now, 6 or so and can sit up and rolls over but does not crawl yet. Zip have you had that testosterone level checked out? I know of a gal that takes it for increased sex drive. She is an old gal too. Wonder how she gets the rx? I think you can. We are all just getting old and most of that stuff shows up if we live long enough. Barb I am just not a fan of blueberries or blackberries. Bring on the strawberries and cranberries . I remember making jam out of those wild black berries and boy was it ever seedy. School started here today. I thought of you when I saw those buses and the reduced speed lights flashing. Hey to Julie, Ginny and the rest of the gang. Later, Loretta |

SCHOOL STARTED?? Holy Cow, that's early. Now that would really tear into my summer vacation.
OMG Roger, I think you should be passionate about something!! Now,now, you didn't have to go through 30 hours of back labor either!! Actually I think you should get any meds you want -- this is a free world, right?I see you on that joke Linda - and raise you one for this one - just in memory of our nurses!! Harold was an old man. He was sick and in the hospital. There was one young nurse who just drove him crazy. Every time she came in, she would talk to him as if he were a little child. She would say in a patronizing tone of voice, "And how are we doing this morning?", or "Are we ready for a bath?", or "Are we hungry?" Old Harold had had enough of this particular nurse. So, one morning after he had been given a sterile urine specimen bottle, he placed it on his bedside stand. At breakfast, he took the apple juice off his breakfast tray and put it -- (yes, you guessed) -- into the sterile urine specimen bottle. The nurse came in a little later, picked up the urine bottle and looked at it. "My, but it seems we are a little cloudy today." At this, Old Harold snatched the bottle out of her hand, popped off the top and drank it down, saying, "Well, I'll run it through again. Maybe I can filter it better this time!" The nurse fainted. ************************************************ I hope the school district moves to let Nick go to the Alternative School -- if not, just threaten them with a law suit, works for me!! Julie, you are really doing a gem of a job with him. Refresh my memory -- is this your DD's son? Nothing happening here, really nice cool temps!! We have had a wildfire close by but they have the perimeter sealed and will let it burn off. No helicopters today! Waving to everyone, Barb ![]()

Great jokes Linda and Barb...just sent them off to Bob at work (til 2:30 today)...only day this week.
Shopping was nice in the COOL 72F but at BJ's I found my membership card was missing...puzzling, I only use it there and they didn;t find it... Oh well, their staff AREN'T the sharpest piles of knives in Granma's silver but they'll give me a new one free. Bought a nice BIG ROAST CHICKEN for dinner...had a leg and wing for lunch...I don't know HOW they can roast those oven stuffers (like 7 pounds) and STILL sell them for $4.99 apiece. Enough for 4 people (or us twice) I've got a project I need help with. I want to take PASSPORT shots of us and get them done in one of those $.29/4x6 Kodak machines in most drug stores (they take all the digicam cards. I need to ultimately get a nice pic of me that I can make into a file of 6 pics that when printed will give me 6 nice 2x2's (that's the passport size. ANYTHING I give the machine will come out 4x6 so all I need do is get 6 copies of a good pic into one file...any size but 6 times Any suggestions...(Clear as MUD, I KNOW!) Camera shops want $8 for 2 lousy photos, that's $16 for us and the pictures come out looking like clown photos! Gotta look at theat passprt for YEARS sop I want to come out looking like Brad Pitt (THIS may take some WORK) Ohhh, most OBESE county in the US is Jefferson County, Miss..26% are obese...add morbidly obese and the total is even higher. Fattest states are LA, AL, MI, GA, SC, VA. Slimmest are CA, AZ, NM....From TIME Magazine Last edited by zip2play : 08-06-2004 at 12:06 PM. |

Barb Good for the patient.Zip I don't know how you will be able to get those 2x2 pics. You cannot crop in the Kodak machine. How about somewhere on line that will print your photos after you edit them. Don't think the Brad PItt is possible though. Go for that karma you already have. Loretta |

We took a ride over to the park where the Balloon fest was going on. What a traffic nightmare! They were parking the cars at the local community college and shuttling people over to the park. Looks like they had quite a large crowd. We didn't stop and came right back home.
Loretta, OMG school has started there already?? When do they let out in the late spring? Unfortunately something happened to our digital camera, and I didn't get any pictures of the balloons that came over our house.. It keeps telling me to have camera serviced. Grrrrr. It's not quite two years old but naturally, the warranty is expired. There is only one place in the area that repairs cameras so I'll try to get it fixed if it's not too expensive. Guess I may be looking at a new one though. Barb that was hysterical!! Good for that old guy. It's good that the fire is contained but I agree that sometimes those fires just have to burn out by them selves. Nature takes care of things quite well but people have been building homes in the wilderness and the homes do have to be saved if possible. Roger, Gee I don't know how to make a 2 x 2 picture out of a 4 x 6 unless you can crop it down. Do the self service Kodak machines have that ability? I think I saw something about passport photos in our local CVS. on those obesity stats. Yikes! I wonder why that is. |

Hi Guys!
Here again late, shift was 9a.m till 7p.m agin! Today was a good day, Ella actually slept after her two morning feeds, 2.5 hours and one was for 3 hours. DD actually felt more human today! Shawnee, I think you are so right, oh wise one, that the baby is ensuring a good milk supply. DD started pumping yesterday, so we did it again today to get a stash in the fridge for top ups. This also, will stimulate more milk to come in. Loretta, DD is determined to give the BF a good try before weaning. Her plan is for at least 6 months.....you know the old saying, the best laid plans......sheesh, we'll see how it goes. Glad to hear Leah is keeping well. That must be wonderful to babysit her, even though she is making strange at you. Ginny, My you did well to plough through that 11 hour shift. When I worked in the hospital I used to do 12 hour shifts, they are a killer. Roger, Come to Canada for your testosterone, it is cheaper too! Bob might lock himself in the bedroom though, so it is wiser to stay oneself! Barb, LOL at that joke, loved it! What do you mean, school has started? Did I miss something? Julie, I can't believe that little one is already 1 Year Old! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HIM Sending Love and Hugs and hoping he has lots of cake, some for the face, the walls, the floor and so on! Great stuff on your other DGS, how wonderful you are for him. Linda, Loved your joke too! Just what I needed at the end of a long day. Jacki, Are ya tilling agin? Excellent Job on the chairs, wish I had the time and the inspiration. You have the creative touch for sure! Wavin to Y'all, gotta go soak in the tub, achy shoulders from holding Ella. Can I count that as a work out with a 10lb weight in my arms. ![]() Still gotta lose 3lbs! SuSUN! ![]() |

Hi Y'all
Had a wet 'n wild day...rain and wind. Boy was the rain welcome; bet your bippie I was thanking Creator for every drop. Bob and I pigged out at the Buffet tonight. No cooking or clean up for me, that's what I like best ![]() A friend down in OR is coming up for the big annual garage sale here...remember we made the front page of the local rag last year. Haven't seen her in months...so will get to catch up and shop all at once. About 500 households will be selling...she will bring her lil red wagon...hope the rain takes a break for us. Zip, go for the tape-making...hypnotherapy is as old as herbal medicines, and is undervalued in my opinion. As for your anti-aging campaign...its your face and body, your business! Do whatever makes ya like yourself better. ![]() BTW, have you noticed how many women cannot apply makeup properly? They've never heard of natural light and blending...and less is more. LOL, I'm a fine one to talk: finally had to start using pencil on my brows cause the HypoThyroid crap ate them off...the pencil, a tiny bit of eyeliner on top lid, mascara...and I'm done! No other pore-blocking stuff for me...oh, gotta have my hair dye tho... ![]() PASSPORT??? what's up? Montana, bummer re your camera! hope its a simple (cheap) proceedure to fix it...if not, the price has been dropping on them (like a rock!) in the last few months especially. Hmmm, the only way to know if you'll wanna use the new flour is to try it yourself. Spendy as heck...but I justified it to myself...LOL..I save at least $10 weekly just on junk food alone in the chips and cookies depts...not to mention the major $$ at the Fast Foods. Actually, other than the $, its the whey in it that I find off-putting, texturewise. However, it can be masked with other ingredients like almond flour. Jacki and Bob and DGD have no objection to it ![]() ...and you can make biscuits with it too, the big selling point. Pass the Broccoli; I feel the urge to ride an elevator ![]() Loretta, great to hear that Leah is doing so well...wow, lotza teeth too My neighbor did a BBQ planter...I thought it would look hokey, but it turned out nice. How's your DH doing?...the bionic man Yup, the blackberry cobbler was loaded with seeds...they don't bother me, but I object to the texture of poppy seeds and sesame seeds for some reason.SuSUN, I can't imagine why y'all are having such an exhausting time with the feeding. Perhaps both of you should relax about it a bit..( I promise you, lil Ella will not starve!)....babies have built-in antennae that pick up on stress...If mom is laid back, baby will be more calm too. Bonding still happens, whether its with breast or bottle. Lordy, I am an ol' senile smart-a$$...sorry. ![]() DGdaughter will be visiting your lovely country next week..Victoria...a dream city. Barb, one of our local schools has started again...they have a year-round schedule, with frequent lengthy time-outs. Students there don't have three months off to forget what they learned the previous school year. ![]() Hehee, I may never eat Applesauce again. Julie, hope it works out with your DGS and the alternative school What's your DH's latest project? He sure stays busy...you are lucky, you don't have to ask for home improvements![]() Ginny, YAHOO for you, finish this shift and the weekend is yours! Enjoy it to the max. The gal who's visiting me tomorrow is a vet tech...she has a young Blue Heeler named MaGee, and an old, old Scottie...plus several cats. She's also boarding a large golden lab for a friend who's off on vacation, and said it will be very hard to let the friend take the Lab back. (she could drop it off at my house, "What lab???") LOL, in just a week the lab has captured her heart. Jacki, please give Montana your take on the Chef's Blend flour. Isn't it great our lawns are getting a free drink? Later Y'all have a safe and sane weekend. Shawnee |

He's cooled the woodworking for not. He may have been given too many of those projects from family to get him sick of it. Seriously, he still does some woodworking but right now, it's fun doing the car. He is always busy so I never have to worry about him. Sorry SuSun, I think I agree with Shawnee on relaxing a bit. Babies do have that certain way of knowing all the uprightness around them. Makes milk shut down sometimes too. Take it easy and just enjoy her. Trying a new med once again. Dang, they all make my RLS worse. Hopefully this one will work. I've taken out stock in the Kleenex Co. Today was not a good day but feel a little better tonight. I just want to feel happy again, is that too much to ask? Thanks all you guys for the good wishes with Nick. The letters are all written and will be in the mail tomorrow. Then it's wait and see what the Superintendent will say. Fingers and will help. You guy's are just wonderful and so supportive. Love you... |
