THURSDAY for the MVM
Hi gang,
I made one of those prepackaged premarinated roast pork things called Porketta...really a bunch of pieces of shoulder all wrapped in a String net (almost like good )Italian sausages.) Never again (and I have a second- 2 for 1!) First problem, once it's browned you rip the thing to pieces trying to get the blasted thousand miles of STRING off...One taste and IT'S DELICIOUS but HALF SALT I read the label on the second and I saw the dreaded words:"May contain up to 25% 'solution'"...yep a seasoned brine. Ate too much of it and up 7 pounds this morning. I'll presoak the second one before I make it...and remove the STRING halfway...if it falls to pork barbecue so be it. Linda, Those BEARS are so wonderful and at the same time so SCARY! Amaxing how that line of storms that has battered you just comes to NYC and falls apart...I guess even the storms are afraid of the pollution dome! Julie, Yeah, I heard at the gym about the judges ruling. It pertains to ALL OF WA but has been put on hold til the Supreme Court can rule on it...hmmm, Canada, MA, or WA...guess MA is practical (a Cape Cod honeymoon and all...we'll crochet!) Shawnee, I'm with you 100% on the value of autohypnosis for ANYTHING (except maybe the removal of psychotic rulers!) I've used it innumerable times...I make tapes to suit my needs. For sleep, I find that staying away from the bed during the day and a good workout, a totally dark room at the perfect COOL temp and a burial under my comforter does the trick...The bedroom TV babbles the 11:30 daily Britacom and lulls me...then I get 6 or 7 good hours! Gee, I wish I could get some HRT, I could use some daily testosterone to get me buzzing! But NOOO, for men to use it is CRIMINAL. Is that sexist or what! YAAAAYYYY: But I'm DOOOMMMMED...They opened TACO BELL at the backyard Mall (lord, the new Soft Taco Grande is SOOOOOOOO Good.) For $1.19 it's the perfect lunch- the size of 2 regular soft tacos. OMG I can do it TWICE a day...to and fro ShopRite...ooohhh and I can have TWO for dinner....maybe one for BREAKFAST....STOP ME BEFORE I KILL AGAIN! To all a good day!

Hey y'all,
Survived the 11 hour shift AND the drive home. Slept in till 10! Feeling pretty good right now, but that may change when I see what kind of shape the guys leave me in later...... Linda, missed it yesterday, but HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!! Your seafood excursion sounds wonderful! Shawnee, I don't think any woman is completely happy with her body...we're trained to find the 'trouble spots'! (wish I had boobs to speak of!) but I think you look GREAT! Zip, Taco Hell, huh? Haven't eaten there in a long time! Loretta, glad your DH got out of the house a bit. He had something pretty major there with the pacemaker, so a little at a time is all you can ask for! Hugs to you both! Jacki, wow have you been busy....yes, we want more PICTURES! Susan, long shift for you too....but I bet yours was more fun than mine! Barb, when we're short handed, one stays over and the next shift comes in early. Still a PITA, but so's the co. I work for! At least it doesn't happen too often! Julie, good for you seeing a counselor! It will help you get everything into perspective and settle your mind. You know the drill...and hugs to you! Well, off to the shower for me...

Hi to all
Zip I'll tell you what about the HRT. I think quite a few of us gals here can give you some hot flashes, mood swings, etc etc, that go along with menopause and then you can see for yourself. I sure used to love Taco Bell soft tacos. Have not had one in years. Dh was on a salt free cardiac diet in the hospital. Talk about bland food. He got chicken until he was growing feathers. Food without salt is tasteless. Pork was served often too but not much beef. Ginny glad to hear from you and that you got a good nights rest after shift. Hope you don't have to do that again for a while. Are those drivers doing ok with the trucks or have you had to rescue anyone else lately? Jackie you are working your buns off out there in that yard. Sounds lots of work to me. I have been winding down on my outside stuff lately. This fall I would like to plant a Crepe Myrtle tree (bush) though. I love them and they seem to do well in this part of the country. Shawnee that blueberry cobbler can be delivered here by express mail. You have my mouth watering already. You using that new flour in the cobbler? I have not baked a thing new lately. Just trying to keep up with my cabbage noodles and I want to make another Mexicali PIe soon. SUsun glad you got a break from little Ella. You sure are getting a workout over there. Do you get to spend much time at home? How about some new pics? Linda I sure would be worried about that bear in the neighborhood. Do you walk out there? You sure would need a bigger stick than I carry for Spot. Do you have some spray with you? Your walking there is making me nervous. Julie for you. Glad that Nick is moving forward with his life. YOu sure seem to have a positive influence on him.Later folks Loretta |

Wow Jacki, you are really talented -- want to come over?
Julie, you are also on the green thumb list!! Loretta -- you tell him (Zip, who wouldn't want to be around a group of women going thru menapause) She didn't tell you about the crabby, crying for no reason, sweating, stuff!! Server was busy this morning and ticked me off because then I left to go run errands and didn't get back. Linda, I hope a bear didn't get you ---- why aren''t you sleeping? Ginny, does all of this shift change mess up your sleeping? My DH worked 2nd shift years ago and loved it. But he never needs more than 6 hours and he gets up to do something. Me, I need 8 hours most of the time. I LOVE any kind of berries -- but blueberries are my favorite (hint, hint) while you are delivering. Susan, get some rest also. You know the rules from your own - when the baby sleeps so do you!! Not much going on here -- nice and peaceful and quiet and cool! Barb

Goodness sakes!!! I was so pooped that I decided to take a nap for an hour or so. LOL I got into bed about 1 PM and didn't wake up until 9PM
Guess I'll have my days and nights mixed up for a few days. LOLRoger, Oh NO not Taco Bell. Be very, very careful. Those pork roasts are pretty good but GOD, not with that much brine. It is very strange that the storms break up around the Hudson River. Maybe it has something to do with the Catskill and Pocono MTS. Ginny, Glad you didn't have to work a full 16 hr. shift but still, OT is hard on the ol body. Hope the guys left things caught up for you. Loretta, I don't walk around too much at dusk because of the critter but Gerard walks in the woods behind the house. Yes we have several cans of Bear Spray that we got in Montana. it's not legal here and considered a weapon Gotta love NYS and all the damned laws, regulations and interference in our lives. Pretty soon they will tell us what time to use the bathroom. Julie, so leave us hanging. Where is a picture of all those blooms? Yes, I agree that you are a good influence on Nick. He should do very well under your guidance. Jackie, Wow!! that chair "planter" is awesome! Um, you can pass by here on your way back from Barb's. Shawnee, are you going to share the cobbler recipe? How's the weather situation out there? Barb, There must have been something going on with this BB early today because I kept getting "server busy" too. How is the fire season going there? I don't have a real clue as to why I'm getting up so early but sometimes my asthma acts up with this humidity. I'm off to get something to eat. Back later. |

Hi Guys!
Today's shift was 9a.m till 7p.m. It is not all go, but the days away from home are long. Ella was hungry today, she was on DD's boob every hour or so. DD was exhausted, so I made up a bottle at 4p.m. Hope this settles down soon, or DD cannot go on with the BF (breastfeeding). Linda, Glad you got some sleep finally. Not on HRT yet, still pumping the old estrogen out. Hoping it will cease soon! Then, I will take your collective advice and explore HRT. Jacki, Wonderful creative pics of your garden chair pots! Stunning! Wavin to Y'all. Tired! Yawn! SuSUN |

HI Y'all
We had a lil bit of honest to goodness rain at 2 AM...I had forgotten how wonderful it smells! (sorry, Montana) ![]() Jacki...Thanks for posting the pics; I just love those Lion's Tails...so unique...and TALL...is that the Hop vine behind them? Or a Clematis? Girl, ya sure did a great job tiling that planter chair. Loretta, a lil IndigoBlue Bird came here today via mail, and was most welcome ![]() The cobbler was BLACKberry, but really yummy...for Brekkie...and later too. Hehee, I wonder if it would make it thru Mail Delivery any better than those Bars ya sent your sis? Think I'm burnt out on Summer...I'm too Gardening-Gung-ho in March...still kinda excited thru June...by the heat of July, I'm waning...now I just want to be a garden bum, and do as little possible. Hi SuSUN...maybe a few bottle substitutes would be just the ticket. LOL, it probably wasn't hunger....more of an " I'm training Mom to keep that milk supply at my beck and call". ![]() Enjoy the heck out of her Babyhood; she'll be a Teen before you can blink. Ginny, you seemed to have survived the long shif in good spirits. ![]() yeah, seems we all do have body parts that bug us...I keep my biggest non-asset behind me, and sit on it every chance I get. ![]() Montana, I didn't do a recipe for the cobbler...I used some of that new Chef's Flour. Previously, I'd just mix up some LC flours, kinda like for the Almond Pound Cake idea...and pour over sweetened berries...baked til it was brown and bubbly. Probably best to let Brother Bear have your Blackberries (and a wide berth)...many of them are homeless this year, and need a good square meal. (you're so tiny, you'd be ''snack-size" ) ![]() Barb, would ya settle for BLACKberries? No bears yet feeding on them in the pasture...but as we suburbanize their stomping grounds, they gotta go somewhere.... Julie, Congrats on the Bloomers! What's Life without flora and fauna??? BORED with pics? I don't think that's possible!! LOL ZIP...yup, different (lack of ) sleep situations require different remedies. For the minor stuff, a tv can bore me to sleep, kinda like a white noise effect. For major heavy-duty stress and anxiety, I "suggest"-sink deep down into my other self, and kinda go on a vision quest. You used up some calories just beating that porkpak into submission ![]() To all, have a happy Friday. ShawneeEven though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today? --Mary Manin Morrissey author Last edited by shawneesioux : 08-05-2004 at 11:00 PM. |
