Tuesday VM
Good morning folks,
Well, it looks like we can breathe easier in the NYC area. Yep, the info that generated the TERROR THREATS was THREE YEARS OLD and dealt with building surveillance BEFORE 9/11. It seems those slimy pr#$ks in Washington will do ANYTHING to stay there. Lord, is there a SINGLE reson left under God's blue sky to keep them in office...LIES, Recession, Insane borrowing and ENDLESS WAR, and MORE LIES ![]() ! Gosh, remember PEACE and PROSPERITY from the good old days (5 years ago!)I think I will GIVE UP THE NEWS for the rest of the week...My quota of lies has been filled for the year...or DECADE. Nothing in the cards today. Bob's extraction (it was abcessed) had him a bit wonky last night but he's up and chipper today and even was able to put his partial in...sans a tooth. I really SHOULD try my hand at that auto epoxy; I got very good with it over the years because idiot Jersey City drunk drivers kept plowing into my car when PARKED OVERNIGHT. I think "Midnight Blue" would set a new trend for a single tooth...(Gold is too ghetto!) Jungle Red, for those who've seen THE WOMEN, might be apt! Linda, The Bill Maher premiere(Real Time) was WONDERFUL...and what GUESTS: 2 right wing senators, Kim Campbell (first woman Prime Minister of Canada) AND Michael Moore...you can imagine the sparks flying! Yep, I agree on the camping...my idea of really roughing it is a motel WITHOUT A POOL<perish the thought.> Ginny, CONGRATULATIONS ...from what I can see you sold 24 plants on e-bay this week...I gess now the hard work begins. You'll have to describe your packing techniques. It must be hard for living plants. Do they sell special tubes or something like that! How much do you usually charge for shipping? You are making me all excited to sell something...maybe I'll start with 2 Honeywell hi capacity HEPA air filters that are like new, worth a fortune and waste TOO MUCH SPACE! Thanks for the inspiration and good luck with any new offering you make. In an Times Editorial on underreported stories: Quote:
Hey nurses, a question: We have a new digital thermometer that says always use a disposable probe cover (none included). What ARE they? I'm imagining teeny, teeny, teeny condoms...am I on the right track? Can you buy them in a pharmacy? [I really DON'T want to share pneumonia...that's carrying togetherness a step to far.]

Good morning gang....
NO, NO, and NO I don't camp!!
Heavens, I would love to have a huge bus to drive around. Friends of ours just bought a new 500,000 one that is a bus. I could live in it.We stayed at two places while gone that had no phone, TV, etc. because we wanted to get away. The accommodations were quite nice and better than any hotel room. One is called Ocean Haven which was a private, no smokers, no pets, lodge with family suites. They provided you with beach blankets, walking sticks, binnoculars, extensive guest library, and journals were in our suite from previous guests. That was really interesting -- I loved reading them and also contributing. The other was Black Butte Resort - Motel. Each room was decorated with a different theme with quilts and other homey touches. Kitchen -- but no TV, phone. It's up by the Metolius River in Central Oregon surrounded by ponderosa pines. This was our 25th Wedding Anniversary trip ( anniver. in April) and also the stomping grounds of where Ross grew up. We visited this part of the country so many times before but never got to stay there because we stayed with his parents. But now all of the relatives are gone or have fled to sunny CA. It doesn't do your blood pressure any good Zip -- STOP watching the news!! You could read a good book. Julie, the pictures are great!! You are so talented -- I kill just about everything growing in the house but do have plants outside that have managed. Now, lets NOT get on those poor stressed out education people with their three months off in the summer!! I hear this all the time and really do look forward to that time off -- of course I'm not rolling in dough either with a field in education. I could have been a doc and made $ and still golfed on Fridays. Later, need some coffee and it doesn't make it itself yet!!

Stressed out education people? no field of education here---unless you count throwing fries and pizza at those youngun!! Although it's not a high paying job I do feel lucky to have the work I have. No nights, no weekends, no holidays and summer off--and good benifits too. My DH doesn't feel sorry for me either----not when he's dragging his butt up and into a log truck every morning of the year. Barb, Were you near Lake Billy Chinook? We took a 4 day vacation there last summer on a houseboat. Beautiful beautiful place. I loved it so much. Zip, the last few weeks I've really tried to NOT hear the news. It's too depressing. I'll be voting for Kerry just to do my patriotic duty in getting that damn man out of the White House! See, this is why I quit watching the news---I'm only out of bed for 20 minutes and already I'm pissed. Hi everyone. ![]() |

Good morning everyone,
Grrrrr, I've been up since 7 AM, almost unheard of for this night owl, and couldn't get on the computer until my AVG anti virus scan finished. Darn thing takes about 5 hrs to do a full scan. Oh well. A long NAP is on my agenda later this afternoon. Don't all of you just hate those sleepless nights? Please keep your fingers crossed. This doesn't look good but we WILL go to Montana in about 6 weeks.http://missoulian.com/articles/2004/...l/znews02.txt. Roger, years ago I remember one of the Plastic Surgeons I worked with pointing at the hospital and saying "stay out of there. They will kill you." He knew way back in the 70's that it wasn't a good place to be. Yup, the thermometer covers look like teeny condoms and yes,you can buy them in the pharmacy.Yeah the news is getting to me too so I've been reading a lot lately. Barb, Me thinks we are all just jealous of your time off. LOL You really earn it after dealing with those little monsters. Those resort/motels sound lovely!! We are toying with the idea of staying in one of the lodges in Glacier or a little motel in Many Glacier, none of which have TV or air conditioning. Lordy, they charge well over $100 per night but I guess it's for the view. Jackie, wow I didn't know your DH drove a Log truck What a job that is. Yikes!I'm off to let DD's pup out, hit the book store and then come home and take a long nap. Waving to everyone else. |

HI to all
Thanks Linda for the cool pics. That swimming pool looks so inviting. Is that your mom or Gerards in with the pic of the pup and Deme? Who put that kid on his stomach to sleep? MY son had a fit when he found Leah in her crib on her stomach when she was about a month old. They always put her on her back. Now she moves around where ever she wants to. Congrats to you too on that 26th Anniversary. Congrats to Julie on her ? Anniversary. Post congrats to Barb on her 25 th. I guess DH and I are the "newlyweds" of the group. We will celebrate 6yrs in Oct. Barb those accomodations you stayed at sound delightful to me. DH and I rarely have the tv on at all. We enjoy the quiet. Interesting that Ross's classmate lost all that weight on Atkins, Bet it was great to talk low carb with another loser. I sure don't begrudge the teachers their schedule. During the school year there are so many extra things you all have to attend. My step daughter is a 3rd grade teacher and they are always involved in things above and beyond school hours. Linda I use a virus scanner from micro trends and it only takes about 20 min. I do it once a month. You sure do a lot of extra work on that pc. Mine just gets neglected. Zip you are so right about the hospitals. I felt that way before we went in. So much can happen in there. Some days I felt like a prisoner. Yes those are little condom type covers for the digital. Just use a piece of saran wrap until you can get proper protection. Stop watching the news. I saw a cartoon the other day with a man at the docs office. He said his blood pressure was up because he was so worried about his cholesterol going up. Jackie that is so true about the holidays and weekends off, except for some of those teachers. Don't know why I did not become a school nurse or a public health nurse. I hate getting behind one of those log trucks. I am always afraid that the logs will come rolling off. Hey to Shawnee, Ginny, Julie and SuSun. Later folks, L retta |

Mornin' all,
Wow, lots of activity already today! Thanks to all for the anniversary wishes! We aren't huge celebrators here, just remember and enjoy the day ![]() Linda, how much fun would that be, your very own pool! Lucky kids! Thanks for sharing the pics YIKES!Jacki, yep, jealous of your summers off....Since I've been in the workforce (15 yrs old) I think I have had 1 summer off, and that wasn't the whole summer either but I've survived. Enjoy it while it lasts.Barb, your vacation sounds wonderful, and how cool is that to stay with a fellow lc loser! I'm definitely in the minority foodwise when we go anywhere, so I really gotta be careful. Zip, ebay isn't tough at all. There is a good bit of time to spend with entering and tracking your listing, then you have to check email fairly frequently to field any questions. We've averaged 10-15 auctions per week I think, and have really done well. Some things have no-saled, but you never know who'll be lurking there. The big thing as far as listing an item IMO is your title. Be specific. Use brand name if applicable, and think of what people would use for key words were they looking for your item. The rest is covered in description. Also, use a gallery photo. Worth the extra charge. Packaging plants isn't rocket science, but you do have to make sure the plant is well protected (shredded paper, polyester fiberfill around spikes/blooms, moist paper towels around roots, wrap each plant in newspaper and use peanuts/shredded paper around individual plant bundles in the box. We've gotten quite a bit from mail order, so have seen some excellent packaging. Loretta, only married for 6 huh? Yep, you are the newlywed of the bunch! No matter how long someone is married, it's the being happy part that really counts...and is sure seems like y'all have that part figured out! Julie, WOOHOO on your dend blooming! Lookin' good, and it should be in bloom for quite a while! Just keep doing what you're doing, that plant is very happy! Shawnee, where are ya, girl? Hope whatever you are up to is FUN! Susan, check in when you can....don't let us start to worry about you! Well, I reckon it's about time for this lazy bum to get a move on...

Hi Y'all
AT EASE, y'all...I won't be hitting ya up for Bail money, cause our predicted "possibility of scattered showers'' was a no-show...and DAMN, I was sooo lokin' forward to being arrested for indecent exposure; wanted to cavort nekkid in those showers... ![]() Guess I'll have to settle for my Native Rain Stick and the water sprinkler. At least its not hot, just too dry.Zip, a terrorist wouldn't need any bombs or WMDs in the NW; a book of matches would suffice. Now Lady Liberty has reopened for tourists....do they really need to be inside her to appreciate her symbolism and beauty?Montana, I got an "I'm sorry, but..(can't get there from here)" message from your MT. link...did an archive serch, and am assuming this is it: 23 new fires come to life in Bitterroot By BETSY COHEN of the Missoulian ![]() Thanks for the pics...my fav of course is your darlin' DGBaby. So precious! ..and takes me back many years to the time I had a black-haired chubby baby boy...rump in the air, his position of choice. I am not an advocate of the "on back only" sleeping position, unless its a preemie or other necessary reason.I love the SF DaVincis, cause I like to cook and bake the things I miss from pre LC days...and recognize them for what they are---a carb-cutting enhancement----simply lightly-flavored, sweeted liquids. To call them syrups is kinda misleading, if compared to the "real" syrups. Also, since I drink Coffee strong and black, I can make a "dessert in a cup" with the addition of heavy cream and a shot of DaVinci.... Italian Sodas are easy too, using Club Soda... ![]() Loretta, I'm gonna join a 12-Step Program to get OFF the Blueberries...maybe Zip, SuSUN, and Jacki will join me.... ![]() Saw a magazine recipe For a facial: Blend 3 TBLS blueberries with 1/2 C Yoggie, and slather it on GEEZ, if I did that, I'd be trying to lick it off my own face ![]() Barb, if I spent anything over a"mere" $100,000 (never mind 5-700,000) for a motor home, I'd damn sure be living in it to make it worth the expense. ![]() We bought our "mid-price-range" travel trailer new back in 1978 for $5,000...and still use it. Bob maintains it, has shower/tub/potty...thick foam beds...all self-contained, so electricity plug ins aren't necessary. Its old but comfy, and not necessary for us to impress the wildlife we camp amongst. ![]() Several weeks back we were in a State Park campground surrounded by lotza $pendy busses...most of the conversations centered on the high cost of pushing their gas-guzzlers (3-5 MPG)down the road, and their $$$$ monthly payments on them. Different strokes for different folks. ![]() Ginny! How was the pizza??? We were out at the Columbia River this morning, Bob wanted to check up on his ol' fishin' buddies..(talk about fish tales!) luckily for me, lots of entertainment in watching eagles and a nest of busy Osprey...plus a large-size (33 lbs!) heavy-duty Boston Bull, a young Jack Russell, and a Shih-Tzu. Tickled my heart to watch these mostly elderly ol' redneck guys swaggering around, full of macho BS...then become cremepuffs when calling their Pups: "Zack, come Baby, come to Daddy!" ![]() Shawnee EDITED: a neighbor just dropped over to bring us some home-grown Cukes! ...a nice switch from Blueberries ( I share my Toms with him)HI Jacki...you DESERVE your summer off ![]() Last edited by shawneesioux : 08-03-2004 at 03:21 PM. |

Loretta, I was livid when I saw Nick on his stomach but he has some bad colic and the damned Pediatrician told them to put him on his stomach after he ate. Sooo what can I do or say? I just bite my tongue. That is my mom in the picture. What a horrid picture of her it is. It makes her look fat which she isn't.
LOL I guess you are a newlywed, but as Ginny said, happiness is all that matters. Ginny, you make selling on E Bay and packing sound so easy but I'm sure it's not. Glad you had a nice, quiet anniversary celebration. That's what we plan to do since we don't bother much with those events either. Yeah it would be great to have a pool wouldn't it? I wanted one but got a large pond instead. Ah well, maybe in my next life.Shawnee, yup that's the article. 23 of those darn things burning there. They are small right now but they are still wild fires. Maybe I'll order some of the syrups and give them a try. Most of the flavors sound very intriguing. LMAO I think tonight when I have a dish of yogurt and blueberries I'll smear some on my face and see what happens. OK where is everyone else? I'm off to get a nap and read a bit. Later |

Hi Guys!
A quick run thru agin! Bin over at DD's all day, the shift was much lighter than the all nighters and all day of the last weeks, just had the evenings to myself. I did 8a.m. till 7p.m. today, my first day shift. Tomorrow will be shorter. I prefer 9a.m. till 5 ish. We'll see what we get up to tomorrow. DD is BF every 2-3 hours, so not much time for anything else. I am so glad that I can be with her during this busy time. It does not seem like work just long hours. Shawnee, said it all, in that, "money cant buy these magic moments!" Awwwwh! Ginny, Thank you for wondering about me. I am doing just fine, just strapped for time to get on the 'puter these days! CONGRATS ON THE SALES! Sounds like your OrKIDS are a popular item! Glad to see Loretta back posting! Roger, those probe covers are a tad stiffer than condoms, more like a plastic cover, used many a 1,000 of those in my time! Glad Bob got that bad tooth out, no wonder you could detect it by the smell, last week. Wavin to Y'all. SuSUN! ![]() |

Each time I fill up (yet another) bowl of blueberries and yoggie, I think of you! Here's a pic of me taken last Sat. while doing the Finn Festival thing...my friend hugging me chose to be cropped out..so.. Yes, I am actually wearing a skirt! No, I'm not a redhead, the sun has bleached out my usual dark dye...LOL ![]() ShawneeLast edited by shawneesioux : 08-03-2004 at 09:35 PM. |
