How long have you maintained?

I'm wondering how long everyone in the Maintain Lane has kept at their goal weight?

I'm finding maintenance to be very difficult. It's so hard not to get discouraged when the scale goes up-especially when you haven't done anything differently.

I need a little positive input here!

TIA!

I've been maintaining since October of last year. I don't weigh very often, maybe once every two weeks. My weight has fluctuated from 91 lbs. to 97 lbs. I like to stay around 95 lbs. which is what I do most of the time. How often do you weigh? I personally cannot handle the daily fluctuations. Some people weigh everyday and that might be the best way to keep things in check at all times but I would be constantly worrying especially if it went up. When it does go up does it drop back pretty quickly or are you seeing a gradual weight gain? You may be eating too many calories. At this point, I think most of us have to look at the calories as well as the carbs. I know I do. Wish I could help.

DH and I have been maintaining since 1999. Actually I am now 12 lbs below my original goal without really trying and have been maintaining that weight since 2000.

I don't count calories nor do I avoid natural fats at all.

My suggestions would be to eat only natural foods, don't ever cheat and go light on the legal (home made) treats. You will be just fine. If you find the weight creeping back up, back off the legal carbs a bit.

Ann is right. Don't weigh everyday. It will drive you nuts.

Wishing you the best.

I reached my goal weight in Dec of 2001. Heading into my 3rd year now I am about 2 pounds under goal.

I have fluctuated as much as 5 pounds either way. You just have to experiment and find out what works for you.

I used to weigh monthly but have recently started to weigh in weekly. I want to keep a better eye on things.

You can do it!!!!!!!. Just find out what works best for you.

Thanks all. I do weigh daily, and while I don't cry and get all upset, it makes me wonder what I did or didn't do that caused a gain. Could just be muscle retaining water in this heat, who knows.

Glad to see we have some long-time maintainers here. I just don't want to be one of the huge % that gains it back!

You won't gain it back if you stay faithfully on plan. The huge % that do gain it back think of it as a diet and go back to their old way of eating.

Hang in there kiddo.
