*SIGH*grrrrr

Hi you guys. I hate to bug you all but Im pretty bummed today and thought I could get some wisdom here.

I told you all in another post that I recently drove across the country from Vegas to Louisville, Kentucky and that I gained quite a lot of weight on this trip. (atleast according tho the new scale Ive been weighing on).

I got this new digital high fangled scale and it looks like I gained another 2 lbs on it in one day! HMMM. SIGH.Im pretty bummed because since starting Atkins on July 13, 2003 Ive been cheatfree and I hit my goal a few months ago (actually went 4 lbs BELOW my goal weight of 135).

When i left Vegas I weighed 131. I now weigh 140!! This seems very odd because although I havent been eating squeaky clean I dont feel Ive eaten enough to have gained this much weight!!

Ive decided to go back to squeaky clean induction now , drink lots of water and eat only induction foods .. period.

Have any of you gone back to INDUCTIOn and if so for how long and did it help you get 'back on track?"

thanx for listening.
Michelle

Michelle,I bet if you go back to induction levels you will see that drop in no time flat! Don't get too discouraged, I know 9 pounds seems like a lot, but travelling AND a new scale can make a difference. Get back on the exercise wagon if you fell off too!

Its so discouraging when we gain weight and not quite sure what we have done wrong. Anytime you change scales it can be very disheartening too. Sorry to say also, but the old scales may also have been wrong and the new ones are more correct. You may not have really gained that much weight. How do your clothes fit compared to the way they did before your trip? You know from the old scale what your starting weight was and what the final weight was. Try to dwell on what you have lost. Just get active again, drink your water, and follow Induction for a few days to see what affect it has. I've never really gone back to Induction but I have done Stillman and I have done the yogurt fast. Good Luck. It will all eventually work out for you. Exercise and water, water, water!

Thanx you guys

I appreciate your responses. I started today back to induction.

The good thing is that I KNOW how to do this. Ive done it successfully before so Im sure going back to induction will help me get back to where I want to be.

Wow..This is humbling but this is the first time since starting ATkins that the scale numbers have gone up and not down. Maybe I was just getting too ****y or..something? thinkign Id only see the numbers getting lower and lower. I dont know.

I have drank a LOTTA water today too plus its my first day back to squeaky clean eating. It really does feel good again and like Im back in 'control". I hate to think a scale has done such a NUMBER on me tho.

Good for you Michelle. I agree-it's easy to become lax about staying on plan. I guess that's why we say we aren't on a diet and that this is our plan for life.

But you hit the nail on the head. For me, the best part of lc'ing is that if I do overdo it a day or two, I know that I can lose those pounds I gain with not a lot of trouble.

It's great!!

Hi Michelle - off subject, but what are you doing in Louisville? That's my home town! My DH and I are leaving tomorrow to go back to Louisville to visit family (I live in Charlotte, NC now). So what brought you there, and how do you like it?

Don't fret too much about the gain on the scale. Most likely its water. I'm sure on a cross-country drive like that you couldn't exactly chug water like you should or you would be stopping at every exit to use the facilities!

Julia...

My boyfriends parents live in Louisville. He lost his job recently sooo we moved back 'to the parents basement! *SHUDDER* for a while until we decide where we want to live.

Im an artist so I can work anywhere (because I sell my art at art festivals) and he is a photographer so he plans to start his own photo studio somewhere.

It is quite a culture shock to me (coming from Vegas) but I REALLY looooove the GREENERY! WOW there are so many trees!!

I missed greenery and trees in Vegas so Im grooving on it here. Im not sure about the rest of the city BUT I do find it to be quite a friendly place and the weathers rather nice. The people are far more polite here and genuine than in Vegas. We might just end up here ..who knows!?

Julia...WE can get together if you live here...for coffee or lunch!? That would be cooool!

Michelle,

Do you still have access to your old scale? If so, weigh on it, then weigh on the new digital and see what your difference is. Also, if you just used the old scale for weigh in, when you start using the new scale, you will be able to figure the difference. You've still lost the same amount of poundage, just the numbers of start and finish are different. Also, the fit of your clothes is really a tell-all. If they fit the same, and you see no difference in the mirror, then it's probably the difference in the scales. Remember, the number on the scale doesn't really mean that much. If you're comfortable as a certain size/shape, then you have accomplished your goal. If one scale says 130 and another says 140 (hopping from one to another) then you know it's the scale and not you. Playing a number on the scale instead of where you feel and look healthy can be detrimental. Go with where you feel 'right'.

OrchidCactus...

I unfortunately threw out my old scale when I left Vegas! SOOO I have no way of comparing the two. Ive already accepted the fact that there was probably a few lb variance in the two sccales and Im ok with it.

Actually today it said I lost 2 lbs already and this was just after ONE day of clean squeaky induction. WOOooHoooOO.

I feel confident that Im on the right track now. I am going to try eating induction level carbs for atleast a week. My clothes are fitting a wee bit tight but not 9-10 lbs worth!!
