Thursday for VINTAGE MAINTAINERS, 6/24

Hi kiddoes,

Last night we saw a British import called JUMPERS by Tom Stoppard on Broadway. It had it's moments. One delicious quote: "Democracy has very little to do with voting; it's the COUNTING that determines democracy"
But beforehand we did WIENERSNITZELS at Hallo Berlin. DELICIOUS veal. It was veally veally tender and tasty!

Preparing a CARE package of kefir grains for a needy soul. She'll pick them up at Bob's office. I'm overloaded with them and people are oh so grateful.

I crashed in pain last night from my feet to my shoulder to a couple teeth. Strange neuritis/neuralgia thingy which I'd really not have repeated ...god knows what it was? Feel better this morning.

For all my Internet purchases/payment I use a single VISA card with a teeny $500 limit. That way NO MATTER WHAT, my limit is $500. But I have never gotten screwed on an credit card purchase that the company bank hasn't stood behind and credit me for the loss...and then deduct it from the offending company. That little card gets more business than the other 20 combined:

Our nice weather (Day: 78, Night: 68) continues full force....YESSSSS!

Susun,
Take your daughter to see Fahrenheit 9/11...it will get your mind off your "situation"...well, MAYBE!

Loretta,
Nice Crochet work.

Shawnee...AWWWWWW, I have the one pic of the Chuckster already set as BACKGROUND. Why were two of the pics without thumbnails??? Did PB give you the option to delete them before you posted? (I'm still a tyro with PhotoBucket...but I like it!)

Ginny,
I was researching the mockingbird (mimus pomyglottis) for a friend who didn;t know what birds were doing the glorious singing up here...and I found out it's the STATE BIRD of Tennessee. They are really my favorite bird and I LOVE their singing (even at 4 AM when they seem to do their best work! )

Jacki,
You reminded me to make some LC pumpkin pudding with two cans of pumpkin that are growing beards! Hmmm, Great Atlantic pumpkins on the Pacific? Go figger!

To all a good day!

Hi to all

Zip I wonder if your aches and pains were a leftover from your fall? I just use one credit card and I have to knock on wood I have not had a problem except for them sending my bill late and then charging me a late fee. I stopped that though by paying by phone.

Jackie you sure are creative. That creation of yours with the poles was just something else. Don't think I can follow that one. The rocker took all I had. LOL

Shawnee here's hoping that flour arrives today. How long will you wait before you order another one? My puritain order that I placed last Monday, the 21st will be here tomorrow. Chuckster sure seemed to be enjoying his grass bath. He's a ham too.

SuSUN thanks for the reminder on the birth "days". Sure is getting close, even I'm getting nervous.

Hi to the rest of the bunch. Catch you all later.
I'm sewing today so cover your ears. Making those dish towels with holders. Just call me "Martha?" Or who is that sewer?

Hey all,

A gorgeous day here, too bad I'll have to spend some of it working! Humidity is down (except in the gh) and it's only supposed to get to 87. We shall see!

Yesterday got an order in from ebay, a cattleya Hybrida, the first manmade cross every made. Nice sized plant, good and healthy. We also got in an order we placed with a grower in Missouri for some phal. violacea v murtoniana 'Leprechaun'. Do a google on that one and you'll see it's one drop-dead-gorgeous bloom! Also is extremely fragrant, like all violaceas. These will be for sale as soon as they get established here from transport. We got 13, and the vast majority went into either 5" azalea pots or larger--we're VERY pleased!

Loretta, excellent crochet work! My MIL makes the pot holders, and I just love them. Very thick, last forever, I grab them FIRST! The dishcloths also seem to last forever.

Hey to Linda, if you get a chance to peek in

Zip, glad you're feeling better--ick yuck on the pain surge Wonder what causes that stuff?

Shawnee, sure hope you get your flour, but if not at least your account is covered! I still got that spare can if you need it, my current can is still pretty full Always keep one in reserve, one never knows! That hat will get you into anywhere from gardens to race tracks Lookin' great!

Susan, tell your DD to get ready on MY due date LOL! Won't be long and she'll have the relief of holding the baby in her arms instead of ribs/bladder/pelvic bone gymnastics!

Julie, good for DGS being working a lot and having a new GF. It is amazing what a GF can do for a boy a bit on the wild side....can really calm them down! I'm not much of a morning person, but do set my alarm for usually between 8-9 depending on when I go to bed. I function best on about 7 hrs sleep, but can survive on less if need be.

Well, all, off to gag more lollies now that the kids are fed and the chids are watered.....

L8r,

Checking in with you all.....ya'll I mean. LOL

Roger, my gosh guy, you certainly are having some strange pains going on. Glad you're feeling better though. Wouldn't let that go very long if it happens again...call the dr.

Loretta, sure wish you lived closer, I'd buy some of those pot holders from you. MIL has passed and she used to keep me stocked. Whatcha mean cover our ears? What are you sewing????

Ginny, boy you sure are having fun buying all your orkids!! Wish I lived close to you too and get all your expertise advice on them. Not to mention, I would do anything to see your gh. Do you live close to Oakridge? My cousin lives there. Keep forgetting to ask you.

DH is working, Nick is working, I'm lovin' it!!! Nothing planned today except a few errands. Took Bo and myself for a walk. Felt good. Listening to the Mariner game on the radio, one of the few thats not televised. Going out to fertilize my fuschia hanging baskets and need to get a few groceries. Other than that, I'm just going to enjoy my peace and quiet today. Will check back later///

I feel better and did 24 minutes on the stationary bike at the gym (at a heart rate of 120 BPM...not bad!) So weird last night...when I got out to pea even my HEELS ached and were red...strange, strange!

Ginny,
Leprechaun is gorgeous indeed:

Lord, where did the day go....Bob just walked in and I don;t have dinner going yet! BYE.

Salmon steaks and stewed tomatoes with white rice (in a new rice cooker <fingers crossed>!

Ginny your have quite a lot going on there with your orkids. Getting them established and then selling them. What vechicle do you use to do your selling? Just shows or word of mouth.

Julie that day you had sounds pleasant. No demands on your time just going about as you please, shopping, listening to the Mariners, water the plants. Everybody at work. I sure do like my alone time.

Thanks for the pic Zip of the Leprechaun. what a gorgeous looking orkid. Was that 24 mins on the bike all at a heart rate of 120. I can get my rate up by jogging up the hills but cannot sustain it for very long. I work a monitor for a while and got up to 170 or so but petered out after reaching that rate.

Shawnee got her flour today and is baking up a bunch and will have pics later. ( I sure hope so).

SuSUN tell DD to hold off until July 3rd.

Hi Magnificient Maintainers!

Another day at the salt mines completed, only two more to go on my countdown. Only tomorrow and then this week is over. Then only next Wednesday if DD has still not had the baby.
So only one or two more days! Yippppeee in my book!

Roger,
Love your quote, "Democracy has very little to do with voting; it's the COUNTING that determines democracy"

Sorry we have our mind on the upcoming event, it is just this baby has been a long time coming! We dont want to take our minds off it, as it might not happen again. DD is enjoying every moment!
Glad you saw a neat show last night!
Too bad about the strange pains, glad they resolved quickly for you.
Thanks for the Lovely Pic of the Orchid!
Great cardio, puff, puff, on the stationary bike.

Loretta,
I will tell DD to hold off till July 3rd! Although, not sure if she could! Her DH has that date too, along with Shawnee.
Great crafts you are up to! I have my ears covered, is it for the cursing or sewing machine noise?

Julie,
Your day sounds heavenly with all that peace and quiet and time for yourself and Bo of course. I haven't walked Oliver yet and it is showering right now. I hope I can get some activity in before bedtime.

Ginny,
LOL! Susan, tell your DD to get ready on MY due date LOL! Won't be long and she'll have the relief of holding the baby in her arms instead of ribs/bladder/pelvic bone gymnastics
Her OB said at her appointment today that she is already 1.1/2 centemetres with a soft cervix, so looks like we have a start at least, so very well could be your date or Linda's. You two were way up front!

Shawnne,
Glad to hear that you received the flour. I thought that company had run off with your DOUGH, pardon the pun! WE can laugh about it now all is well!
Can't wait to see the "results of the experiments."
I bet your kitchen smells heavenly right now!

Jacki,
What have you created today? I was telling DH about the unique climber. He is intrigued and ya got him thinkin now! LOL! He is a machinist and does all kind of creative and practical stuff with metal.
How are your feet these days, do you still have to put them up to rest them periodically?

Only one more day this week TGIF!

SuSUN!

Hi Y'all

Late morning, Bob wanted to drive out to the Columbia, check on his ol' fishin' buddies and their successes ...or lack of...
One of the guys had brought his golden retriever; pup was snoozing away as I walked to inquire if I could get a "pet" in on him...before I got the words out of my mouth, that Pup had lovingly broad-sided me, then parked his rump on my feet... *wag-wag*
Owner laughed and said it seemed the dog had already decided he needed some pets.

(made my day)

Loretta forced me to take action re my dirty windows, blinds and curtains...she started in with the guilt trip last week, doing cleaning...shoot, I was happy as a pig in slop til then...so I made a start today. So that and a little gardening took up my day.

Zip, smart idea re the $500 CC limit
Glad ya enjoy the ol' Chuckster so much. ..also that you are better now.
Can't answer your question re the PB site...I was surfing and loading pics at the same time ( a few at a time) ...just considered myself lucky that I got them on PB at all...remember, I just blunder my way thru 'puter stuff.

Thanks for finding the OrKid for us... WOW!

Ginny, bless your heart...always good to know a friend "has my back" , ready to whip out that infamous can
Enjoy those new babies.

SuSUN, sounds like DD is getting serious bout having that baby! I'm sure at this point, the earlier the better would please her ...last stage of pregnancy is soooo long. Hope you get that baby in your arms soon, I know its been years of waiting...

Julie, your quiet day sounds wonderful. I sure appreciate it when Bob is gone for awhile...but it also makes me realize I don't ever want to be totally alone. Good to hear your DGS is doing so well

LORETTA.....I didn't hear ya at all...how did the sewing go?
You rumor - starter, you ...SuSUN thought your flour announcement was for real !

Well, ya must be half-psychic...I'd given up on it.

The FLOUR arrived at 5 PM today!

By then, I was too tired from Suzy stuff too even open it...so it may be a day or 2 before any results are posted.
Gotta call the CC Company tomorrow, and let them know...still pi$$ed bout all the negatives re this situation/order/ lack of info...
but I'M GETTING OVER IT!

Jacki, after ya get that Pumpkin grown, then its innards cleaned out, you can use it for a Star Pup house.
Man, that thing would make about 1,000 pies.

Got my new batch of Yoggie in the oven....I swear, I never knew how much better Homemade was til I got the "prod" from Montana.

Later, All

So glad that flour arrived. Was that whole 10 pounds in 1 bag??

I need to find yoggie starter. Where on earth will I find it?

Sometimes when I am sewing I end up using my favorite 4 letter word a little too often that word is "sh t. Cover that babies ears. I am not very proficient at some of my crafts.

Loretta..
I read your last Post, so...just for YOU, I opened the box: 2- five lb. sacks.
Been looking over the recipes on their site. May try the Biscuits tomorrow, but gotta do some revisions ...too much cream in it. Says 2 Cups of flour makes 18 biscuits...LOL, not where I come from! I want them to look like BISCUITS, not miniatures.

I made Vanilla Yoggie this last time...just put it in the fridge, after a taste test...YUM

You don't NEED an expensive starter from a Health Foods store...use 2 or 3 TBLS of a good commercial yoggie with live, Active bugs (cultures) in it when making a quart...like Dannon or Stonyfields brands....doesn't matter if its F-Free, full fat, or 2%, as long as its PLAIN. .

Julie, I have too many "choice" words to choose a favorite!

(Montana has some doozies too )

later

Loretta, because of your GOOD influence (and my guilty conscience) I have some clean blinds, curtains, windows...I drag the blinds outside and scrub them like a crazed Chinese Laundress
