Monday for MVM, June 21
Hey everyone!
Had a fun but busy weekend, so now I need to go to work to get some rest LOL! We had my cousin and his wife over Saturday and went out for Mexican for lunch. Extremely good stuff at the new place in town. Then we had the orchid society picnic and plant sale. Of course, had to bring home some new 'chids from that. The other members are getting to know us a bit more now, so we had plenty of people to talk to. Yesterday consisted of going to one member's greenhouse (he sells at the shows too) and poked around. Got some really cool stuff there, including a plant that now tops my list of 'most expensive plant purchase' at $100. Yikes! I reckon I'm addicted to the 'chids When this specific oncidium type blooms, it will have HUGE flowers that are award quality. It has already received the highest award from the AOS (the parent plant, these are mericlones) so I know it will be an exceptional bloomer. Of course, then we had to spend lotza time in the gh repotting and placing the new babies.Looks like everyone had a fun weekend as well, which is great to see. Hope all are having a wonderful Monday! Time for me to go lurk a bit, then start the day. Caffeine is starting to kick in Hugs to all,

Hi to all
Ginny what a nice way to spend the weekend. Lunch with your relatives and that Orkid show and sale. That "exceptional bloomer" was on sale??? We will all be waiting to see the blooms. There was a gal on the Golden that raised birds and she paid $10,000 for one bird. I suppose there are some orkids that cost that much too. I know you enjoyed working in the greenhouse with the kids and getting them settled in. Such contentment in that kind of "work", it should be called joy. Shawnee I love your new avitar with your summer hat, reminds of me Katherine Hepburn. Great smile there gal. I was reading some of the recipes on the flour site. I see that quite a few of them add almond flour also to the recipe. I though that was interesting. It should be here this week. Yes that new avitar of mine is a day lily (not mine) It came from Corgi girl on the Golden. She has a bunch of various colored day lilies that she posted pics of. Going to work on some day lilies today. Just the regular old orange guys. THe ones I transplanted about a year or so ago are doing great so I need to fill in spots with a few more. (I have sprayed my body this time with off and now willl spray my clothes before I get involved.) Catch the rest of you later. Loretta Last edited by Loretta V : 06-21-2004 at 09:29 AM. |

Ginny,
My goodness....$100 makes that plant roayalty indeed. I can't WAIT to see her first bloom. I'll bet it comes out with a tiara! Does the mericlone staus make prize-winning harder? Quote:
Hi Loretta, You snuck in while I was posting and searching...LOL. I wouldn't bother with filling in day lilies. My experience is that for the hardy old orange varieties their tubers will auto-fill in EVERYTHING. As a kid I planted a handful of tubers that I'd dug up growing wild by the railroad tracks. Ten years later, my mother (who hated ANYTHING that bloomed) almost had to have the field of lilies DYNAMITED out they had taken such control! ![]() Hi everybody on this first full day of Summer and sunny it IS!...I think I will sunbathe on the pool's deck and cach some rays. Gee I WISH I could lie on my stomach but that back arch will crucify my back...better to let sleeping dogs lie as they say in lazy-dog land! ![]() Linner was nice yeaterday even though earlier would have been better...appetizers nearly gone.. But what a delicious lamb curry with succulent tender chunks of completely lean lamb; succulent chicken tikka masala (the spiciest dish but not very); a mavelous Saag (spinach dish for vegetaarians); a mixed vegetable curry (potatoes, cauliflower, zucchini, carrots, eggplant and more; a dessert of clovey minced carrot, honey thingy...delicious naan right out of the tandoor and a ton of sweet basmati rice, and a tank of delicius daal to cover it. Tandoori Chicken was a bit dry though...never my favorite dish anyways. Only mistake was to take some mango-pepper "pickle". "Pickles" are a preserved vegetable of almost any type made to absorb 50 pounds of salt per pound of veg ![]() ![]() ...It burns the mouth with salt. That was good for a 6 pound water-weight bloat this morning. More than 6 and my SKIN splits open.![]() STEAM and thiazides here we come! AGAIN ShopRite was rife with bargains and I got a very pretty eye-round roast (beef) for $1.69 a pound. It's a very lean marginal cut that makes a perfect pot roast every time. OR if the God's are smiling and you age it for a week or two and marinate the bejesus out of it, 15 minutes in a 500 degree oven will give you a bloody rare DELICIOUS Roast Beef! Sliced razor thin on the bias, you wouldn't know it from a $50 loin roast! I think I try the latter! I hope everybody is having the delightful 76° day that we are! Have fun and be thankful to be alive and reasonably< > well!

Well, we are having a heat wave for the northwest. Going to be 86 again today. I love it but at night it's a killer. Fan going 100 mph to be able to sleep.
Ginny, wow...is all I can say. $100.00 for one orkid!! I'd kill it for sure. But you, it will thrive and will reward you for sure. Sounded like a very nice, fun weekend. Loretta, day lilies grow like weeds, at least here. I can't keep them contained. Can''t even pull them up and they continue to row. Roger, yep, pickles are the death of us retainers!! Off to a salad luncheon on one of our local lakes.

Hi Y'all
Spent the morning doing paperwork, dealing with *idiots* at several companies, trying to clear up confusion re one of Bob's Insurance policies...GRRR. Oh, how the Buck does get passed, and I wasn't in the mood for their feeble apologies...but to my credit, I did NOT say one cuss word or raise my voice. However I did some nasty muttering to the "on hold" tapes...LOLLuckily, I save copies of everything, document every phone conversation..."What's your name and title, I'm documenting your statements for later verification"...some don't like that ![]() so when I filled out the last batch of redundant papers, I made more copies of my old copies, attached them to the Forms, and wrote in the form lines: SEE ATTACHED ! Has competency become obsolete?! ![]() Ok, enough whining ![]() Another hot day, we're on a roll. GBrat stopped by, said she has a Tom showing color! YIKES, leave it to a novice gardener to shpw up her seasoned garden -granny She also enjoyed that homemade Yoggie.Zip, I love how you have total recall re your Dining experiences. ![]() Quite a Review; many dishes I am not familiar with, but sound delectable. GINNY, I approve of your Addiction, long may it grow and prosper. Glad ya had such a grand time, and found new babies too..but of course. ![]() Loretta, I too have some of the old style daylilies...they thrive on neglect..so that's what they get, with a capital "N". Hehee, Kathryn Hepburn, huh? Gal, ya flatter me...I could only wish. Still no flour delivery...growin' impatient...wanna BAKE! Aw, jeez,..Julie, I just had a Dill pickle at Lunch...yes, I will retain, but keep the scales hidden. ![]() more later, gotta run to PO and mail off redundant forms. Shawnee |

Julie before I forget, I wanted to tell you that Logan is just a doll. He is growing up so fast. Nice picture, thanks for sharing.
I know those day lilies are like weeds. They are growing nicely where I planted them, but I needed a few more to fill in the bare spots. It also is an area that gets washed out with heavy rains. I think the lilies will hold things together once they get going. Shawnee I like your statement to the insurance company personnal ..."What's your name and title, I'm documenting your statements for later verification" That should help a lot. You wonder what is going on there at the receiving end of the paper work. Last March, I renewed my subscription to a mag I get. I renewed for 2 years. In this months mag I got a notice saying that my subscription expired last month and they were sending me a complimentary copy. "I got invoice numbers" I hate the inconvience of it all. Did you not get any tracking info about that flour?????... Where is the rest of this group? Last edited by Loretta V : 06-21-2004 at 05:44 PM. |

Getting here late again. Sorry.
I'm embarrassed to admit that I got involved in a TV movie... The new remake of Salem's Lot.... Much better than the old one but not as good as that very creepy book.Ginny, wow on the 100 bucks paid for the lovely orchid. Can't wait to see some pictures of her in full bloom. Loretta, hope those chiggers don't bite through clothing. God those must be some nasty creatures. We planted day lillies near the road on the bank of the drainage ditch but the darn town mowed that area so they are gone. Hope you have good luck with all of yours. Pictures?? Roger, your dinner has me positively DROOLING!! Next time we get to the city, you will have to point us in the direction of that restaurant. How about this wonderful weather? If I had my druthers, it would stay this way all year long. Humm, wonder if there is such a place in this world. Julie,Gosh you should really order yourself a window air conditioner. I don't know how you can survive those hot temps, especially while trying to sleep. Check out Wal Mart on line. I saw them in the store for only $88.00. That's CHEAP! Shawnee, Good LORD!! aren't there any competent people working in these places anymore? Hopefully your stellar record keeping will get Bob's policy straightened out. Love your new Avatar and that Hepburn hat. Don't you just look elegant? Looks like you taught Gbrat well. Hard to believe she has a tom showing some color. LOL we are just now getting a few blossoms. Off to look around. Later |

Hi Linda,
I have the SALEM'S LOT on now. I had skipped it thinking it was that silly old David Soul version, so I'm a half hour behind. I see it's on after midnight so I think I'll tape it. For a rainy day! Shawnee, Love the hat...push that old African Queen through the steamy marshes but watch out for the leeches ![]() ...Tell Humphrey I said hello!G'night team! |

Hi Guys!
Checking in late but glad to be here! I did a speech tonight at TMs so coming down off the adrenalin high and I can now let the old memory go after all that memorizing! Whew! Next one is at the end of August, not sure what I'll be up to then. Diapers and Delerium??? LOL! Got home to a message from DSIL to call him on his cell. Thought are they off to the hospital as it was after 9:30p.m. I called and DD had dropped the portable phone in the pool by accident today, So they don't like using the landphone, sheesh! Julie, Logan is adorable, what a cutie! That sure did the trick now I am truly excited! He looks a cuddly little boy. Is he mishcheivous?REgarding that fan going 100 revs an hour to keep cool. A girlfriend told me yesterday that she bought a floor standing model for her bedroom....wait for it....it has a remote, doesn't that sound heavenly! Roger, Thanks for those pics. Absolutely Fabulous darling! Yes, double drool here over your Dinner! Gotta get DSIL interested again in doing his curry night! He is amazing when he gets going. Linda, It probably did you good to relax to with the TV, sometimes it takes me right out of the every day things of life. and I let it!Are ya working this week? I have Wed, Thurs, and Friday this week! Loretta, Wow you are still gardening, how delightful. I have planted some pots and geraniums and that's me done for the season. Lack of time and commitment from me. Are those Orange Lillies those protestant ones? A priest told me they planted them to say no Catholics live at this house. I have a variety of colours in a corner of my backyard. I too have some of those orange wild lillies at the side of my garage, The peonies are mid-way bloomin and heavy with flowers. the nicest show in my garden is the carpet cover, it was bloomin early on and spreads so well each year. Notice these are all low maintenance, perennials. Shawnee, Great tips and vent on the Insurance paperwork. It does irritate the heck out of me too when folk dont seem to care anymore. Glad you keep it all organized. Love the new Avatar! Kewl!! Ginny, So you like Mexican food too! Sounds like a good get-together with those folks and ya caved in and bought a "Queen of OrKIDS," I hope she has a regal place in the gh! Night, Night! SuSUN! ![]() |

Believe me Linda, I thought about going and buying an air conditioner. They keep saying it'll only last a day or two and it's been 6 straight days. Hot again tomorrow. This is so unusual but this is probably our summer. Officially it hit 90 here. Only 86 tomorrow. Ha, thats what they said for today.
Thanks, we think Logan is beautiful too!!! Shawnee, been meaning to tell you how much I love that hat too. It sure makes you look royal!! SuSun, posting at the same time. hey that remote sounds delish!!! Hehehe Last edited by Jewels60 : 06-21-2004 at 09:22 PM. |

Julie, get one anyway. You never know about weather and comfort is a NECESSITY.
Susan, you must be on pins and needles waiting for that baby, eh? Didn't know you were still doing TM's but glad it's all over for this month. Just how involved are you going to be in that baby's life? LOL I have had enough of diapers but do love to visit the Grand brats. No work for me until July 5th. Roger, you must have missed part one of Salem's Lot which was on last night. I missed most of it and hope it's on again. Boy I love to get chills from a good, scary movie. |

Jewels, if we are catching this much Hot as Hades weather in June, just imagine what August is gonna be.
The ol' AC has been a blessing now and then. Most folk thing the NW has moderate Summers...well...![]() Went back to take a squint : lil Logan is a Romeo ! What a lady-killer, sweetie pie doll. You must treasure him.Been on a salty, sour kick Dill pickle at lunch, homemade sauerkraut and Italian Sausages for dinner...I'll look like a pregnant Puffer-fish tomorrow.DS and friends make gallons of sauerkraut each year, and we are lucky recepients. ![]() Montana, the movies are never as good as the book...words are more explicit that acting could ever be. Guess my Farmer hat is a keeper, huh? LOL (Mother's Day present) Loretta, hope those buggies ignored ya! Probably the reason for the almonds, flax, etc...showing up in those recipes is cause they are lower in carbs than that flour, or to add texture, tasate...the flour is 16 ECC per Cup...not bad, compared to ww at 72 ECC. HA, I DID NOT find out there was NO tracking # until after the Order was submitted; then all that popped up was the order number and APPROVED...then a Confirmation E Mail. I sent an E mail to their Customer Service this evening. ( They also invite comments, so...) Here's part of my message: "I was not given a tracking number or info about shipping /delivery date. I belong to a popular Low Carb Board with over 42,000 members, and many are anxious to hear my review of your service and products. I'm a Low Carb baker, and post my baking recipes there. We are looking forward to experimenting with this new flour. When can I expect delivery?" ................STAY TUNED ![]() SuSUN, LOL on the phone/pool incident Wonderful that the Peonies are so pleasing! Carpet cover? What we Yanks call carpet (horizontal) roses? If ya get a minute, those flowers would make good practice material for that new camera...gotta be a Pro soon, with Ella ready to present herself. ![]() Jacki, WHOOO HOOO, where are ya?? Shawnee |

Off to get an air conditioner in the morn. Bremerton just forcast 90 for tomorrow. Man, I can't live it that. Fans only do so much!! How about Longview temps? At least 95 huh? I could gain 10 lbs with all that salty food. Drink, drink, drink lots of H2O girl!! Missed what kind of flour you ordered. Care to tell me? LOL Raise he!! and some more... |
