Vintage gang, Tuesday 6/15
Hey y'all,
Cool this morning, but we'll see what happens later in the day ![]() The roast turned out EXCELLENT!!! Pups will have goodies on their breakfast. I'm sure they will enjoy that Shawnee, I bet you enjoyed the pup time with Star and I'm sure Star was happy for the extra lovin's too! My whole gang is still waiting on ya...Loretta, great job on the chair! Looks so pretty, and the plant should pretty much cover it after a bit ![]() Jacki, ok, now Shawnee has us waiting for more pics...anyone that makes her yard look scraggly (LOL) has my WOOHOO on the last week of work. Wish I could say that!Linda, so what would happen if you just quit work now? Or are you going just to save money for the big Montana trip? Zip, did the squishies go away? Strange how salt affects some but not others (me) Julie, hope you're enjoying your time out and away! Susan, not much longer for you and DD....are ya all ready for midnight feedings? How long will they give her away from work? Anyone heard from Barb? Off and lurking for a bit, hope everyone has a great day!

Hi to all
Thanks for the rocking chair mentions. It looks a lot better dressed up a little. Warm and humid here. Cloudy and more rain on the way. Ginny glad to hear that the roast was good cooking it on the grill like that I would worry that it would dry out some. Did you have it wrapped in foil? Was it beef or pork? Shawnee I know you LOVE a baking challange. It did surprise me how nice it cooked using the nuker. Good texture too. It plumped up nicely. I'll try for a pic of the tooth but it is barely up yet. Her mom wanted me to feel of it. DIL was very excited about it. Wait until they have to have braces. Leah is turning herself over now. Amazing the amount of progress they make in such a short time. Jackie I'm so jealous that you have such great neighbors that bring you fresh baked bread. What a treat for the both of you. Seems like your schools get out so late. When does school start back up? I know here they start back up in the beginning of August. Linda I was counting up my "pills" too the other day. Probably about 12 or so. I take a vit c also, plus most of those you mentioned. Those and also the sprinkling of the lecithin on my foods. I think I am a health nut sometimes. But hey it works. Zip hope that pc is not out of order. HI to the rest of our gang, later. Loretta |

Hi Ginny, Loretta,
My goodness, what a quiet day here. Loretta, I got an e-mail coupon from PP ($5 off $50, free shipping at $100)...trouble is I don't think you can double up on the coupons so the $15 in the catalogue is still probably best. Ginny, I echo: beef or pork?...or lamb?...ZEBRA! Squishy 3 pounds still hanging on. I made a vegetarian split pea soup today...what a WONDERFUL food. One pound bag at $.49 made 2 quarts of soup (which we polished off as a complete dinner): For that pound (a lot) of peas the calorie count is 1100 but the fat content is ZERO and the bag contains 110 grams of protein and 110 GRAMS of soluble fiber. That is the fiber equivalent of 36 doses of Metamucil....astounding!!!!!!! If the claims for fiber are only partially true, split peas have to be close to the perfect food. They throw in DELICIOUS as a bonus .Hot and humid today but no rain.

Good evening folks. Another day at the 'salt mines' done and gone.
two more days to go. Next school year starts Sept 8th. Late huh? My yard could only dream of making Carol's look scraggly. She has it down pat let me tell you. She is just being kind to me. Not much else to post. I hope y'all have a good evening. ![]() |

Hi Y'all
A nice warm day here, and going UP tomorrow. ![]() Ginny, ...yum...please pass the roast, whatever it is..even Zebra Hehee, that Star is a willing victim ....such a happy wiggle-worm...she's a joy. ![]() Wondering...suppose we could get a discount rate on Shipping for all your Pupsters? My yard sure feels empty, and the neighborhood cats are taking over. Loretta, your charmin' chair lends that personal touch of character to your home....love that kinda stuff. That Jacki is inspirational in so many ways....she started LCing about 7 mo. before I did...she didn't push it, just told me how it helped her DDad so much...and I could SEE the weight coming off her...and her DH. ![]() When I decided to take the LC plunge, she wasn't sure I was serious, especially since I was doing my own version...after a month and 10 lbs gone, she made me feel so good...told me she could see the places I'd lost. And we started swapping food ideas, and doing taste tests...fun! Zip, that's a LOT of fiber...any side-effects...like a colon cleanse? Salt (HAM!) makes me blow up like a water balloon. And, darn it, I love split pea soup with a hambone ![]() Jacki, I bragged on your two new roses by the front gate...they ARE astounding, and you should be proud. Also love your Datura, a monster-bloomer. Here's a recipe from BettyR, the gal who inspired me to make some real bread in the Nuker. I'd change the Flax to almond (use ALL almond flour) "Bread Puddin' " 2 tablespoons of melted butter-0 1/2 pinch of salt-0 1 extra large egg-.7 1 teaspoon vanilla-.5 1/2 teaspoon liq. Splenda-0 2 tablespoons of almond meal-1.5 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal-0 1 teaspoon cinnamon-.6 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder-.7 Mix all together in a microwave safe bowl and zap in the microwave for 45 seconds or until the center is starting to cook but not quiet set. Remove from the microwave. While it's still hot, cut it up into little pieces and pour 1/4 cup of cold cream-(2) over the top and sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon. Let the cream soak into the bread. Hi to all the MIAs. catch up with ya later ShawneeLast edited by shawneesioux : 06-15-2004 at 06:40 PM. |

I think you are right Zip about the coupon, probably just one at a time. Trying to get my order together so I can get double bonus points on my charge card before the end of June. $$$$$ back there too. L |

Hi everybody
Getting here rather late tonight. Ginny, Please, please share DETAILS of that wonderful roast, cut and cooking time. slurp... Funny that salt doesn't bother me a bit either. THANK GOD because I love it. Actually I could quit today but want to finish out July . They are so darn short of staff and really need the help for summer activities. Oh yeah, the extra money is nice too. ![]() BTW how is your dh doing on the new job? Loretta, your rocking chair dress up has me looking at things I might use around this colorless place. Humm I do have some wooden Adirondack chairs and love seat in the yard that could use something. Can't wait to see a picture of little Leah's first tooth. My gosh she is turning over already? It hardly seems possible. Roger, will ya please share that soup recipe? Don't leave us wondering. Lentils are pretty darn good too. Hot and humid here too but we did have some rather ominous looking black clouds this afternoon but nothing came of them. Shawnee, LOL I'm using up a lot of document space and printer ink with all those wonderful recipes. OMG Bread Pudding used to be one of my favorites. drool... These recipes will be done this week for sure. I want to toast that burger bun and eat it with lots of butter and splenda/cinnamon on top. Work was STRESSFUL today to say the least. We have two really, really out of control, high bi polars just admitted and OMG they are off the wall. I'll need several valium to just get through my two groups tomorrow. Then it's off until July 6. YIPPIE! Off to catch up. |

Hi again
Loretta Here's my comment to BettyR, the Bread Pudding inventor on the Recipe Help Board: I posted your recipe on the Maintain Lane board, knowing one of the Vintage Maintainers would snap it up like a starved hound dog; she DID ! ![]() Geez, Montana...with that group at work, maybe better wash that Valium down with a vat of Vino... ![]() Hope tomorrow goes fast and safely! Dinner tonight was Halibut from Son's AK trip...and I didn't get to indulge, cause I've been hiving from fish again...dang! Oh, well..I put a few beef short ribs on the grill, and they were almost as good. The Chuckster sure likes that fish. Yeah, GO for it, those simple yet lovely lines of Adirondacks are just begging for Bling-bling plants. Shawnee |
