FRIDAY'S Vintage Maintainers

Hi all,

One of these days I'll try that cabbage soup. I just threw out the St. Patrick's Day $.07 special (I always buy 2 and wind up throwing one out.) I LOVE cabbage and it's SOOOO good for us but always the same routine!
I DO make a killer onion soup though but it involves TONS of lightly browned onions and isn't really too LC as a result.

Linda:

In fact, last weekend, he had a bear break into his dog pen, knock over these tv's and smash his honey combs
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

...gee, most dogs have to make do with only a portable radio!
Why did you say December for my SS? Do we have to apply 3 or 4 months before we qualify? I guess I have only one decision to make...will I take any jobs in the next three years. If so, then it's silly to take the reduced amount forevever and have to pay it back for a couple years. Probably I'll take it starting next April though.
It makes me DESPERATELY nervous to send my birth certificate or passsport through the mail.

Loretta,
I called VERIZON several times. They are swamped here (overextended) and make up excuses why they can't put in new DSL lines. They say "Too far from a terminal"...but then when you tell them 2 people on the same FLOOR have it they start babbling something like "NO SPIKKKKEEEE INGRIS!"
We have no real cable...only microwave...thus no CABLE HOOKUP.
Only alternative is a T1 line owned by THE LANDLORD who charges $60/month and he can rot in Hell before I'd pay that!

Jacki,
What beautiful Tiger Lilies...and so early; we don't see them til July!

We're going over to Vicki's tonight...she's treating to a Vietnamese restaurant around the block from her. She found they make her a steamed rice and steamed vegetable melange that she likes...and has ZERO fats! I'll order something made from greasy pig just to make her look away while I eat!

Best post before I get knocked off...nice weekend all.

Happy HOT Friday to all.

Zip I think I pay about $65 a month for my DSL My DS who encouraged me to get it is now worrying about me spending his inheritance. I really think it is worth it for me. I don't tie up the phone lines (dh has 6 kids) and I am on my PC quite a bit. It is money well invested for me. We really don't go many places and I am home a lot. (not complaining, I like "hanging around the ranch" as my brother calls it.)
If you worry about sending your birth certificate in the mail you can always send it registered. It worked fine, absolutely no hastle and the gal was very nice with the phone interview.

Jackie what is your address over there in Wa. I might have to make a trip and pick up that wheelbarrow. Youwill be at school for the next few days, right? I just love it and the pitcher. I have an enamel wash basin with some flowers in it. If I was talented I would load up my antique rocker too. Hey that is an idea.

Shawnee thank goodness you are going to take a
recipe break for a while. Yes that ink is expensive. I had breakfast with my son and Leah this morning. She is doing some better and will go back to the doc on Monday. Step daughter joined us also. DIL was at work. I sure do enjoy having him and my grandkids near me.

Linda be careful with those bears so close at hand. I just have to worry about dogs and deers. I sure would need a bigger stick to ward off a bear.

SuSUN so close now. Are we going to bet on the arrival day?
I pick July 3rd. Do you have your overnight bag packed? Get some lc food in it for sure. It might take a while for delivery.

Ginny have you had time to enjoy that new swing??? The pups will be wanting up into your lap or maybe they will be content to lay at your feet, all 6 of them. You might need a bigger porch.

Julie when will you get the results of your blood work? It is always of interest to me. I'll get rechecked in Sept sometime.
How are your Mariners doing?

Loretta

Have a safe weekend all and be careful, stay in the by the a/c.

Hey gang,

I survived an 11 hour shift--barely. About 1:30 this morning I 'hit the wall' but made it through by sheer determination. The ride home wasn't bad, radio on and window down for fresh air. Tonight will hopefully be an easy night! For any that have driven a forklift before, working a shift like that can start leg cramps! Was starting to tighten up a bit towards the end, but nothing major nailed me Just LOVE that waterbed!

Jacki, LOVE the pics! That wheelbarrow especially! I do believe the lunch ladies will win the war...keep them young'uns in line

Shawnee, have fun visiting with DS! That will definitely lift the spirits

Zip, our DSL costs us around $55 a month, including the ISP service. It is well worth it to have the speed and not ever get kicked off line. Also, I can use the phone if I'm on the 'puter and never worry about missing a call. Dial up around here is atrocious!

Loretta, glad li'l Leah is doing better! Poor little one, so hard to see them sick. Relieved you don't have any bear by you, but he'd probably pass your skinny self up for meatier fare

Linda, you be careful out there with the bear sightings! I doubt one would bother you (for the same reason as Loretta) and be doubly careful when driving! Fortunately for us, we don't have them critters...I KNOW my 5 canine alarm system would go haywire!

Julie, good for DGS to be working so much. Even if it can be aggravating, it's going to look good for him that he's being productive. Chin up!

Susan, 8 lbs! Wow, that's gonna be a big baby for a first one! Hoping that she takes a page from your book and has a quick delivery! You may get to play catch with your nursing skills

If I missed anyone, oops.....still a bit foggy here. Time for a shower and some food! All have a good day!

Hi everyone,

Roger, LMAO I saw that about knocking the TV's over and was really but, I have seen stranger things.

Too bad you didn't have cable because our Road Runner is only 45.00 per month as is our cable service.

As for social security benefits, this link explains when we should apply....three months before our 62nd birthday if we want to collect then. Personally I want it asap because who knows how long we will live and I don't want to give most of what I have paid in over the years back to them.
http://www.ssa.gov/retire2/applying3.htm

We had to send our birth certificates in when we got passports and they came back without a problem. I wouldn't worry about it.

Greasy pig sounds absolutely delicious Have fun.

Loretta, guess you, Shawnee and I will have to arm wrestle for Jacki's wheelbarrow.

Glad little Leah is on the mend. It just breaks our hearts to see such a young one ill.

Ginny, Glad you didn't have to work a full double shift and hope tonight isn't too bad for you.

Julie, are they going to send you a copy of that blood work? I picked mine up the next day.
It's good that Nick is working so much. It will keep his mind occupied and look good to the court.

Shawnee, Just got some new black ink so you can keep those recipes coming.

Susan, that is a good sized baby. Nikolas weighed 8 lbs 9 oz but he was a boy. My only DD weighed 8lbs. 13 oz. and was the biggest of the bunch.

I'm off to let DD's pup out, get some groceries and then clean this house.

edited to add; just watching Reagan's funeral and am totally astounded that Nancy Reagan and Gerard's mom look enough alike to be sisters, if not twins.

Just a quck post today. I've had a bad day with all the little things piling up. I blew this morning. Chuck really got it. He was in the way. LOL Took an extra pill for my RLS as they use it for anti anxiety too. It makes me foggy (I know I already am and now I'm a zombie) LOL

Roger, yeah our cable is only $45.00 like Linda's. Maybe worth it to get cable.

Ginny, rest up!

Linda & Loretta, will get the results in the mail but probaby not til next week. Mariner's are doing very badly this year. I keep watching but it's not as much fun of course!

Hi Gang!

Yipppppeeeeee!!! That is this week over with!

Shawnee,
I have a watering job for you! Check your email!
Hope you are enjoying being with your Son today!
For DGD arrival, you are July 6th right?

Loretta,
Yes, DD will have an epidural and anything else they will offer.
She is quite prepared to ask for meds.
Thank you for the tips to bring along LC food, yep I am planning on 12 hours but hoping it is less.
Okay Loretta you are down for July 3rd.

Linda,
Wow, Nikolas was a big boy and so cute! DD wants a "Chibola" I think that is how they say it in Italian a cubby cherub type babe!
Seems that she is getting her wish.
DD weighed 9lb 1oz at birth and she is so petite now. DS weighed 7lb 1oz and he is a big boy now.

Jacki,
Great News your countdown is dwindling down to single digits now! I still have 7 to go if DD goes full term.
Thanks for the tip on puffs, you mean kleenex right? Good idea, I have worked in L&D and seen many babies born and everyone is special. This one though will probably floor me! LOL!
Fabulous Pics of your gardening handiwork, great spirit lifters!

Ginny,
Yep, we are hoping DD takes after me with relatively quick and smooth deliveries!
How was the Loooooong shift?

Roger,
Enjoy that Vietnamese Food delicious! Hold Vicki back from those noodles! LOL!
We pay $48.95 for high speed dsl and that is in Cdn dollars. there is a high speed dsl for $39.95 I may look into that cuz it is only for FUN, there is a slower one for $24.95, that is all I paid for AOL but that was dial up, so glad I got rid of that one.

Julie,
Sending (((HUGS))) and strength your way! Keep in that fog as long as you need to!

Hope to be back later!

SuSUN!

Me again...

Normal shift tonight, so I'm happily working on a weekend

Julie, sometimes we need to blow and it happens. Chuck will be ok, and now that you've let it out you can work through it. Hugs!

Susan, put me down for June 29. I think she'll go early!
