I guess I'm a total idiot!
I'm not quite sure how you all post on this board but I definitely need some help. Have maintained goal weight for about six weeks - weathered a slip up Memorial Day weekend - but now I'm in a mess. Cravings are back big time. I'm not eating carby stuff (thank goodness) but I am eating low carb ice cream, sf candies, etc. like they are going out of style! Do you think it's a reaction to the cheat Memorial Day or is it because of eating too much low carb stuff - or is it all the same? Too many carbs are too many carbs period?
I really appreciate any advice. I'm going back to eating clean this week although I already had a little caffeine. The only tea bags I had at work had caffeine and I was freezing! |

Hey Paula!
First off, congrats on reaching goal!!! Now for the other stuff The lc goodies can trigger cravings for the 'real thing' that we no longer eat, and once you get that sweet taste activated it can take a bit of self control to stop. For me, sweets were the biggie to get rid of, but I do pretty good putting on the brakes (well, except for the lc ice cream LOL) so I know what you're going through.Best thing, IMO, is to eliminate the lc sweets for a bit and get back to the basics. You don't have to do an induction or anything, just keep your carbs in the healthy food range. See if that works, if not, then a couple days eating at induction levels won't hurt. For me, caffeine isn't a problem, and I never gave it up. Also, be sure to drink plenty of water, it's the best thing you can do! Good luck, and let us know how you're doing!

Ginny - thanks so much for the reply. Am feeling pretty low! Sweets have always been my downfall and I guess I thought I could handle the low carb ones! I guess sweets are sweets, huh? Anyway, thanks for the encouragement!

Aww Paula, those low carb treats can really get to us. Try to stay away from them and satisfy your sweet tooth with something homemade. I just don't trust the sugar alcohols at all and have seen too many people fall off the lc wagon after they indulged in things made with them.

Hi Paula,
Everybody is so right about the sf candy and ice cream. I really struggle with the lc ice cream. It's tooooo goooood!!!! One of these days I'll just get it out of the house. If it's there I have to have some in the evenings and guess what? 1/2 cup isn't in my vocabulary!!!!!!! It keeps sneaking up to 1 cup and one night am sure I had 1 1/2 cups. Owwww cramps big time. Hang in there and just try and get back to eating clean and you'll be fine. I always have my coffee. No problem for me either.
