THURSDAY for VINTAGE MAINTAINERS
A wonderful night's sleep in air-conditioned comfort: yesterday was a 93 degree humid blazer, and it was over 80 when we turned in. Switching the two units around, though back-breaking slavery was good since the now-bedroom one, though rated 12000BTU's is much less and thus matches the rooms needs more. PLUS the LR cools down in a couple minutes with the full powered one.
Linda, I like your nice new skinny picture...are you REALLY going to scotch the job in August...how nice for you! Loretta, The new BIOS is certainly the cure for that BSOD you were getting, and NOTHING makes a computer run better than an extra dose of RAM if it's needed. Really the best way too spend Upgrade dollars. I have 384Mb and no more open slots to fill so I'm full-up...best I could do would be to toss my 128 and replace it with a 256...work and expense for probably no noticeable improvement. My computer is like greased lightening UNTIL I hook to the phone line, then I might as well have a Commodore 64 because the phone lines are still limited by law and technology. Ginny, I hope hubby's TEMP job is good and it can be turned PERM soon. Julie, Reminds me of a funny Soprano's episode...the old man of the family (Uncle Junior) is on extended house arrest ans the judge lets him out for 3 days for a funeral...he starts checking the OBITS furiously for months afterward, often fiinding the death of a 4th cousin, thrice removed and calling his lawyer for another funeral-pass! Needless to say, if your family controls the New Jersey mob, your lawyer is always "available"! I hope Nick gets a waiver. Shawnee, You're baking up a storm...for me nothing goes into a hot oven til Labor Day...how about a REFRIGERATOR FLAX PIE (yeccchhh!) ![]() To all a good day. ![]()

Good morning gang,
Boy did we have some nasty storms blow through here last night. They pushed the oppressive heat out but today it's cool ( 57 ) and damp with more storms in the forecast. Yes Roger, I'm really going to ditch that job. I'm getting too old to deal with the type of patients we are getting there. So in Dec., are you going to apply for SS on line or in person? I looked around the SS site and wonder if it's quicker or more problematic to do it on line. Just thinking out loud here. I'm off to let DD's pup out and get some grocery shopping done. Maybe later I'll try making Shawnee's buns. Waving to everyone. Later |

HI to all
Roger that is why you need a dsl line. Just spend that dough. You can make Shawnee's bun in the "nuker", no need to heat up that kitchen. You all sure are having a heat wave. I was suprised that the memory upgrade took care of the BSOD. I am thankful for that. Linda I applied for my ss over the phone. That was the quickest and easiest way to go. Sometime the on line stuff is confusing. I did have to mail in some info, birth certificate etc but they returned it promptly. What I liked about it was that I did not have to "GO" to the ss office. I like your new avitar too. Nice picture. Got more suzy stuff today on the schedule. Want to wash some outside windows and plant more petunias. Yes I did have to take the cover off of the tower. But the memory chip (about 6 inches long) had a slot that it fit into without any problem. Easy as pie. I sure hope Shawnee stays away from that recipe bb and rr room today. Let me get this bun made first before I start another idea. Shawnee I think I will wait until Sat for my bun, that is our hamburger day. My other eating slots are taken for now. You know how hard it is for me to break out of my habits. Thanks for the carb count with the rye. Thanks for the list of fat burners. I have been drinking ACV in my water daily for a while now. Julie those courts and lawyers can be frustrating to say the least. Most often you are just another case number to them. Just be patient and it will all work out. Glad that your DGS is working at least. What an ordeal for all. Jackie I have lost count, but I think it is 7 get ups to go. Will you vacation away from home for a while? or just stay out in the yard with those plants and flowers. Ginny hope Dh is going to be able to settle in on that job. He is most likely READY for a routine and a pay check. L8ter L retta |

Hi Y'all
A day of cool air and a few drizzles...who needs some? ![]() Lunch with DGBrat (her day off). Her DH is hope sick with the "hit ya in the guts" flu Pups Ruby and Burk are fine; Ruby continues to rule Burk with an iron paw. ...she's on the very mature side of Pupdom, (5 1/2 yrs) while Burk is seven months.LOL, Montana...that Pup Study cracked me up...they are measuring dogs against human intelligence...wonder how people would stack up against pup intelligence???? I think we would come out LOW on that totem pole in some instances ![]() Ginny, HEY!...caught a glimpse of ya streakin' thru...hope those extra hours fly by. Zip...: on the ol' Commodore 64...was it early Eighties? ...I remember letting Gbrat play with ours when she was 4 or 5, and she's 22 now. Ah, time and technology...Loretta... ~*sniff*~...so OK, I will barely mention the Thread I was playing on, helping to hammer CABBAGE SOUP into submission... ![]() http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/sh...37#post3133037 Gal, you are giving me a re-run of several years back, when I was practically begging/ force feeding ya to get out of that RUT. ![]() Hi to the MIAs. Just me again,
Lorettta, Isn't it difficult to get through to SS on the phone? Most government agencies keep you on hold forever, especially DMV. Still have almost a year before I can apply but am in the "thinking" about it mode. Fortunately our SS office has ample parking near by. Julie, how did Nick make out with that lawyer? Sometimes it's better to show up at the office and wait for an answer. Ginny, UGH those 16 hr shifts are the pitts!! Especially the graveyard shift if you have to work the following evening. You have to run home and sleep really quick. Hope your DH's job turns into permanent. Keep us posted. Has he applied at your place of employment? Shawnee, you can keep those recipes coming as often as you want. Most of my favorites were hammered into low carb submission by you. LOL you should see my Document file. It's full of your recipes. Went through lots of ink printing many of them too. Where are the rest of the gang? Oh and just now on the news ....Check it out. That is just a couple of miles from us. http://www.wbng.com/data/web_5898.shtml Woman Attacked By Black Bear Kerry Shahen Jun 10, 2004, 17:29 Irving Brown lives on Dubois Street, just a few doors down from where Annette Senior was attacked on Tuesday. Every year he sees more bears. In fact, last weekend, he had a bear break into his dog pen, knock over these tv's and smash his honey combs. Irving Brown from Hallstead says, "The dog there, he's out there by the bear and my 2 black labs carried on. I came to the back door, opened it up and the bear had snuck in and out that fast." The Pennslyvania Game Commission says usually that's what happens. A bear may come into a yard and cause damage, but attacking someone is extremely rare. Olive Colwell from Hallstead says, "I was surprised because usually they take off, usually they scare, but it must have felt threatened." The Commission says the bear that attacked Senior, who lives up this private drive on Dubois Street, could have felt threatened. They say Senior's dog may have aggravated the bear. The dog came running up to her in the yard with the bear behind it and Senior was knocked to the ground. Everyone we spoke with here along Dubois Street has either seen a bear in their yard or has heard of one nearby. Neighbors say it's something they've just had to get used to. Wanda Brown from Hallstead says, "You know they're around and you keep an eye out for them and when the children are outside you watch them and that's about all you can do." Experts say any type of food can attract bears like this, including dog food or bird feed. Even the smell from your grill... that's why it's important to keep it clean. The victim of the bear attack, Annette Senior, is in a Scranton hospital tonight. She's recovering from head and chest injuries. |

Hi Gang!
WOW! Montana Love that New Pic! Thank you for the Granny advice, we are moving right along. I guess Nikolas is just communicating with his crying. They say at work, 100 days of crying is normal, no matter what ya do! I wanna join you so badly. I do think I am going to take extended leave when the baby arrives. It is a once in a lifetime chance for me. I dont want to miss the opportunity and then regret that I was not around. Yesterday was a hot humid one up here too! Loretta, No DD wont need a special delivery! LOL! This has been a normal pregnancy thank goodness! She was at the OB today, 36 weeks today. He said the baby is a healthy size 8lbs, and that she has dropped, so could be in 2 weeks. She wants me in the L&D room with her. Think I will be taking a change of clothes just incase it is long. If she is like me I had short labours! 5 hours with my first and 2 hours with DD. Shawnee, Thank you for all the experimenting with all those burger buns. An offer of helping hands in the L&D room are welcome! I have so much catching up. I was too tired yesterday to come here. Roger, Glad you had a good sleep in the A/C it sure was a hot one yesterday. More pleasant today eh? Did ya manage to click the QEII yet? Thank you for the photo site DSIL has downloaded it, so he must think it is good. Julie, LOVE YOUR NEW PIC TOO! Boy you Guys look so good! Hope all is going well with you and your family. Ginny, Thinking of you on that forklift truck! Will ya get double time or time and half? Hope ya can take it in time and have a long weekend. Tired out again, tomorrow is my last day! Yippppeee till Wednesday! SuSUN! ![]() |

Late getting here but I'm here.
Female checkup went as expected. Hate it just as much as before. No not really. After 3 kids, it doesn't even faze me anymore. Guess I'm not due for a physical until next year. Did ask for blood work so will find that out at least. No call from the attorney...Nick is working all day anyhow. Attorney is next town and no time to go over there. Besides everytime he calls, he's in court!! He's suppose to be off tomorrow so he can call again then. Work keeps calling everyday and asking him to work though. he went to his dad's slow pitch game last night, here in town. So that was nice. Maybe building a relationship there. For some reason, I feel a little down this afternoon. Grrr I'll be ok. Don't worry! Probably just this darn cloudy, yucky weather. It does affect me. Shawnee, I made those buns wo butter and all flax today. Very little carbs or fat Loretta, good toasted, haven't tried them wo toasting yet. Linda, thats awful about the bears. You be careful!!! SuSun, one of the GY gals took that pic of me at our Seattle luncheon last month. Thanks. Linda is looking great huh? Ginny, saw you streak through. Dang, wish you didn't have to work either. Guess old age does have it's advantages huh? Roger, glad the ole ac is working ok. How do you guy's survive in all that heat back there? I'd just die!! Loretta, so whats going on with you? Have you given up on the GY bb for good?

Linda the call to SS office is to set up an appointment by phone. They prearrange the interview. I do believe once the interview time is arranged they call you. It worked very well for me.
Susun that is going to be a big baby. Is dd going to have an epidrual block or just go natural. My poor DIL wanted to have an epidural but she precipitated (sp) and had to go natural, no time for an epidural. They were inducing her. They had to race to find a doc to deliver her. DS was a big help to the nurses who also were in a panic. Shawnee that soup looks good. I might put that on my list too. Quit already.Julie I am just taking some time off from the Goldens for a while. I am drinking my water though and exercising just like I should. I have a lot of suzy and farmer john things cooking and trying to get some crafts completed because we are going to do a little church bazaar in December. Just for the fun of it. Loretta |

Linda, what a coincidence, huh? This was on our front page this morning. (just getting around to reading it.) This is about 2 miles from us.
With a bear outside, Olympic students stay in By Chris Barron, Sun Staff Some students thought it was a senior prank. Others, filled with curiosity, looked out the windows. What was it that caused all that commotion and an hour lockdown Wednesday at Olympic High School? A young male bear probably looking for a bite to eat. "He was smelling that good cafeteria food," Principal Bob Barnes said. The young bear was first spotted at 10:30 a.m. the beginning of first lunch behind the school, prompting officials to order an immediate lockdown. A school security official and Assistant Principal Richard Arena spotted the bear and watched it walk away and into the woods along Tibardis Road. "It was pretty good size," Arena said. "It was sort of rambling through." Officer Bob Overly from the state Department of Fish and Wildlife arrived and walked the woods to make sure the bear was gone. Later, teachers served as lookouts between classes. Overly said his office has fielded about 40 bear-sighting calls during the past three weeks because it's breeding season. Mother bears part ways with their yearlings during this time of year. Numerous bear sightings were reported Wednesday around Silverdale |

Good evening folks. Miss me???
Been trying to get through the last few days of work.....five more 'get ups' to go. All this SS talk...there's got to be a better way than going into thier offices. I've only had the humfff 'pleasure' once when I had to let them know to not send my father anymore checks. We sat there for 45 minutes (and that's probably way shorter than most waits) just to tell them someting that took 30 seconds. They are in no hurry to be of any aid to you...although they sure took your money all those years fast enough to give you whiplash. Take a lunch and a book. Susan...so exciting to have the birth day so close. I was with my DD with both of her kids. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. One more thing for you to take....Puffs. A big box of Puffs. No bears at our school...although the students and the lunch ladies are growling at each other like grumpy bears. Lunch ladies will win---I gaurantee. Julie, I tend to get the blues when it's been gloomy also. Let the sun shine though and I'm energized. I must be solar powered. Shawnee......I will need some WOE support big time again......not doing so good down here. I'll wait till school is out. No need to add more stress. I took some more garden pics...thought I'd share three with you. my wheel barrow planter ![]() enamel pitcher planter ![]() my tiger lillies---I call this one "golden profusion" ![]() |
