Hi everyone,
Just popping in quick to get this started. It's already approaching 80 degrees and going to get hotter so to hell with it, I'll take the car with air conditioning to work. Tonight there may be some severe thunderstorms so I may not get back later. We shall see. Shawnee, Pam said she is taking a break from school until things settle down with her compressed disc problems and her daughter's health problems. She is still the skinny little thing she was when posting here so low carb is working well for her. More later, I hope Enjoy your day everyone. |

Hi to all
Linda thanks for the update on Pam. Her life seemed to be so full of things going on all the time. Hope she is still winning money and enjoying some better health. 80 is not that hot. How is your humidity? Those plants on your patio will be growning like crazy. I am going to be into some heavy duty Suzy stuff today. Taking down curtains, washing, starching, washing some windows. The things that have been in the back of my mind just nagging, nagging until I get them done. Shawnee, I think I will probably pass on the flax bun. I have gotten so use to just eating my hambuger patty with some onions and mushrooms on it that I don't even miss the bun. Those flax buns are just not going to taste like the real thing. I do love my flax muffins though and eat them regularly. You sure must have been born with a mixing spoon in your hand. Zip this is interesting about my pc. Since I dowloaded my bios upgrade I no longer get the fatal blue page error. Wonder if that was what I needed. My new memory works so well. I can zip around quickly now with my surfing. How much memory do you have? It is a cheap upgrade and does wonders. Ginny I hate to hear that about the place DH went to first and them disregarding OSHA rules. It does not say much for their leadership. Health and saftey precautions are there for a reason. Thanks for the good thoughts on Leah. Of course I am one proud Grandma. SuSUN soon that long wait will be over. I am starting to get nervous for you all too. Will DD just wait for mother nature to get things going for her or will she need special attention? Washing machine is calling me. L8ter |

Hey all,
Good news: DH was smiling when I got home last night, so this new job sounds like a keeper! He's doing material handling (forklift) for an outfit that seems to be organized and had no complaints It was a bit of a rush yesterday getting him there--when he called the temp place they asked how soon he could come in and get ppw filled out so he could start last night! Hopefully today he'll find out more re temp to perm etc.I pulled a long shift last night so am a bit tired today. Have to leave early to take care of car ins, so not much time on the puter either. Shawnee, will you come here and cook for us? Your stuff always looks so good! Loretta, Leah is a little sweetie! Love that smile! Linda, definitely time for you to retire! Maybe this time you won't go back and be HAPPY! Zip, so far we haven't had to turn on the a/c. Hoping that lasts a while! Hate those high electric bills! Julie, glad your DGS has settled in. It will work out, so don't worry! Jacki, the countdown continues... ![]() Susan, reckon DD wants to get everything rolling early? Or is she one to not want to quit 'normal' stuff? Well, all, off to feed the kids and water the 'chids!

Hi Y'all
Nice afternoon for being outside...just a *hint* of rain threatening... I got some much needed edging and weed-popping done. Ginny... for the *smile* on DH's face !! Good news!...and by the way, be careful what ya ask for...Next time Bob p*sses me off, I'll be on your doorstep, mixer in hand.... Montana, I swear that lil Tink worries her weight off . Sure hope she gets some relief soon. So far, the house AC has been idle...a few fans have done the trick...but in our BLACK trucks, its definitely needed! Loretta...thanks for the guilt trip re the curtains, Suzy stuff...YIKES ! I had to escape outside and do Farmer stuff to avoid it. However, my dear lil Baking Buddy... ...I WAS bugged that ya don't wanna play with our newest recipe... ![]() ( I can do guilt trips too.... )Hehee, there's no way to get that thing like a "real" bun...but it could be a lot closer with Soy Protein Powder and Vital Wheat Gluten... or bite the bullet and go with real flours. Since I don't do soy, I piddled with what is acceptable to me, and has some of your fav ingredients in it...rye and yoggie. Not having that Grab- it, which I read is 5 1/2" across, I dug out a plastic nuker-safe storage bowl of that size...does NOT need to be greased. Here's how I butchered BettyR's already good recipe: (Thanks, Betty )Hamburger Bun 1 TBLS olive oil 1 TBLS yoggie 1/2 pinch of salt 1 extra large egg 2 TBLS flaxseed meal 1 TBLS Rye flour 1 TBLS Vital wheat gluten 1/2 tsp Baking soda Onion flakes Mix together and put in the microwave and nuke for 1 minute or until center is set. Leave it in the bowl for another minute then turn it out on a cooling rack and let it cool. Once it has cooled take a long bread knife and slice the bun in half and make your hamburger as usual. Here's piccies... Show & Tell Time ![]() Fresh from the Nuker ![]() Split into..."insides" up...still waaaay more dense than regular buns....but darn good "bread". ![]() Hi to the MIAs See ya later on. OKOK Shawnee that recipe looks a little more like it with the rye flour in it. I just might have to try it. IT might work well with a little tuna salad on one side.
I love your pictorial illustrations LOL, right down to the Stanley ruler. Thanks for making me feel guilty. you're a sweetie. |

Shawnee, I've been gone all day long but did manage to make the buns with 1/2 flax and 1/2 almond flour. I even quit greasing the glass bowl and it is great. Since I've been home, I've made 4 more. I love these and next week when we go camping, I'll have a bun with my hamburger. I split and toasted them too. Spread with P.B. yummmm
Loretta, if you like the muffins, you'll llove these. Ginny, Linda, hope the thunderstorms don't get ya!! Off to kick butt over on the GY.

Oh, Loretta...you pushover, you...![]() ...just bait a trap with RYE to catch a Kentucky Cookie! ..(and did ya notice I took OUT the butter, just for YOU??) Yeah, this stuff would be great with Tuna salad...its a seriously hearty chunk o' bread.....why waste it just on burgers? BTW, I kinda did a loose carb count on the recipe... using Bob's Red Mill Dark Rye and Vital wheat gluten. ECC for 1 TBLS Rye.......3.5 ECC for 1 TbLs gluten...1.5 so that's FIVE carbs to add to the small carb count of the other ingredients... probably bout 7-8 for the total bun...and its like eating TWO big/ filling pieces of bread. ( I only ate 1/2 with my leftover steak)The ol' Finn is happy with it...got the usual comparison: "Oh, that tastes like Aunt Helen's Suomalaisruisleipä. " (Well, not really Bob...Finnish Rye Bread is made with beer and yeast....but whatever makes ya happy...) |

So, Julie...ya got hooked, huh? They are good! ... great to stock up in the freezer too. ( I just put some of the latest "rye" batch in there)
Where's the camping destination? We wanna get up to Hood's Canal sometime this summer....butter clams. ![]() I have to bait Loretta with RYE to get her on the bandwagon... ![]() I have some old Nuker muffin pans...be easy to do muffins with either the origional recipe, or the "revised for Loretta" one. But I LOVE them both made larger and split...like a real piece of bread. I can live without potatoes, but I gotta have BREAD! ![]() Shawnee |

Popping in between storms. Sheesh!!! ENOUGH already!
Loretta, did ya get your Suzy stuff done? I sure don't miss washing and starching curtains. LOL I have a doctor's excuse because of allergies. This house has vertical blinds and no wood work around the windows. Rather contemporary.Humidity is like a steam bath around here. UGH So how do you install new memory? Do you have to take a screwdriver to the tower?? Is Leah fully recovered? Poor baby. I sincerely hope she is feeling better. Ginny, Yup, this time I am FINISHED with that job. Hope you get some much needed rest. Shawnee, Yup you were born with a mixing spoon in your hand girl. Mother of PEARL!! Now I have to try your wonderful looking burger buns. Love the fact that they can be done in the nuker too. DH made some thingys in the waffle maker but we have to rework the recipe to eliminate the soy cause I won't eat them. Did find a recipe for soy free "bake mix" that we will try next time. You BOTH have black trucks? LOL we both have RED vehicles. AND yeah air conditioning is very necessary in them. Gotta get one for the truck though..Tink is having an MRI tomorrow so we shall see. Hopefully she will not need more surgery. Poor girl. Julie, holy cow!! You made them too Gotta get this lazy butt in gear and do some too.So how is your DGS doing? Camping again?? So where is it going to be this time? Gotta catch up before the next storm hits. Rest well everyone. |

About the camping trip.... going up next to the Hood canal bridge. Can't leave the county with Nick yet, grrrrr he's called the damn attorney 3 days in a row and he won't return his call. he told him to just call before 11:00 some day and they'd be at court at 3 to asked the judge. Humph! Yeah sure. Anyhow it's not far from the house but we'll be close to his work to get him back and forth. They call him into work even if he's not scheduled so he's working a lot. It does help his moods though. Actually things are going very good.
Linda, try the buns, they are delish!!! Not sure I'll get around to the yogurt until after the camping trip. Tomorrow I have my physical... |

Cool Beans on that Trip, Julie.
![]() Good that your DGS is getting in so many hours, even tho the schedule is wonky. Hoping for good results re your physical. Montana, ...actually....I thing I may have a cooking *gene*, albeit a latent one. ![]() Mom was a fantastic cook, but didn't want ol Lefty (clutzy) me in the kitchen..."Look out, everyone, she has a knife!...don't cut off your fingers!" She never used recipes, just the ol' pinch and tad thing. So I learned how to cook when I had kids...we called my foods "inventions" cause I just made stuff up as I went along...the kids got to "name" the inventions . Had to get serious cooking LC, learning to operate in a foreign territory, with all these new ( to me) ingredients like gluten, xanthan, ground flax, etc....cause I wouldn't last a month on LC without making "goodies" ![]() Yup, both Black ...I've hung onto my old black Blazer..big K-5 with a "take off" hardtop. Bob couldn't part with his old truck when he got the new black one (had it 32 years! its a family member! LOL)...so the car had to go bye-bye. Lordy, I've homesteaded this board today... I need to get a life! LUNCH with GBrat tomorrow!!One last thing ( I promise!) ![]() We were making Sherillees waffles in the Forman last year...used various combos of oat, flax, almond and gluten to replace soy. THE END ![]() Shawnee |
