Vintage Maintainers Tuesday

Good morning,

Looks to be our first air-conditioning day today. It's hot and steamy already. Maybe a long day at the gym is in order- let THEM pay for the cool air (usually TOO cool.)

Sorta laid back today after a very good night's sleep with the aide of 10 mg. Valium...yummy.

A walk to ShopRite is tha only thing in my cards (how thrilling, right)...best do it before it gets too hot.

Oh Susan, I have no trouble seeing everyone's pix, it's just getting MINE up that's a killer.
Uploading, cropping, linking to auction...on a dial-uo connection I see my life pass in front of my eyes TWICE before I can get a picture posted. My next will probably be the Queen Mary, who's due in and out of New York on Friday (In from Southhampton, out to the Carribbean.) If she doesnt play fast and loose with her schedule and the weather is nice I'll do a phototshoot!

A nice day to everyone.

Hi Roger and those who follow.

Yes photo island is a pain in the a$$ even for those of us on cable. Guess we are all to "thrifty" to pay for a photo hosting service.

It's going to be hot and sticky here today too and I have to work, darn it, AND our old truck doesn't have air conditioning. I hate to take the Corolla and park in that lot because people are so darn careless when opening doors and such. Oh well, Aug and retirement is coming soon.

Have a good day everyone.

Mornin' all,

Warming up here too--will try to send some to Shawnee

That first job that DH went to was a wash. Very unsafe (must pay OSHA big bucks to stay in business) and unorganized as can be. Anyways, he's got something else lined up for tonight. I guess that's the beauty of temp services, if one doesn't pan out, there's usually another popping up pretty quick. Hope this one works out, it's closer to home even if a little less $$$$. Works out in the wash!

Other than that, all is well here. Hope all are having an enjoyable day!

HI to all

Warm here too, 90s in the picture for today. Not much on my schedule for today either. Washing clothes and staying in out of the heat. I am running about par with Zip today, except I can't walk to Shop Rite. Sometimes I like just looking in those stores incase I run into a bargain.

Leah on Sunday. You would not think that she was that sick by that nice smile.

Thanks for the pics of the shower SuSUN. The both of you are looking great. 31 days left, tell DD to enjoy the peace and quiet. Those little bundles of joy change the entire picture. But what a nice change.

Ginny hope this job pans out for DH. I like the idea of being closer to home myself. Time is money, (someone said).

Linda I hear you on those car dings. My Honda has quite a few of them. One day when I was driving a bird hit my side driving mirror and broke the casing on the mirror. The mirror works fine so I have just let the "ouchie". I gave her a few more myself moving and helping others move. So August is the retirement. You are on a countdown too. How is little Peter doing?

Shawnee good idea to cook that steel hear out on the grill. I usually bake my crappie in the oven and the house does not get an odor, that I notice. We sure got an odor last evening when I let my supper burn on the stove. How could I do that? I was talking to my sis on the computer, that's how. IT was going to be smoked ham hocks and beans. I smoked them alright.

Julie hope all is well there. No summer bowling league? Guess you are busy with keeping those Golden Gals in line. Go for it.

Hi to the rest of the VMs.
Loretta

Hi Y'all

Hey, BONUS day here...we had a wonderful sunny afternoon.

I mowed...with lots of gagged lollies and water breaks interspersed. Being outside is good for my "everything"

Checked the Recipe Help Board an hour back...YIKES...had steaks on the grill as my battle plan for din-din...BUT saw a recipe I HAD to try...so will still do the steaks, but adding burgers too...the steaks can be tomorrow's fare.

Go here, scroll down to see the pic I posted.

http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/sh...66#post3121466

Be back after dinner to catch up with y'all.

LORETTA, that Leah is so precious, a lil treasure.

Shawnee, this does look wonderful and I love flaxmeal but 4TB at one time might have a little laxative effect. Did you eat the whole bun?

Hi VMs!

Just flying in after being over at DD's again this evening while her DH is away.

She is busy as a bee, watering her garden and still lifting stuff. I tell her not, she says she is okay, so it may not be a month to go, if she continues like this.
Her OB said anytime after the next two weeks, makes her 37 weeks, so that is full term anyway.

Loretta,
LEAH IS ADORABLE, THAT SMILE, HER EYES AND THOSE CHEEKS! What can I say! She is just gorgeous! How old is she now? 4 months?
Glad you are over that nasty bug and that you are keeping cool indoors.

Linda,
WOW! Is that official the big "R" in August? I feel like joining ya!

Shawnee,
Thanks for the link to the buns and burger recipe! Lots of Salad with that makes for a delicious legal meal.

Roger,
Yep, our Air has been going most of the day up here too!
I'll betcha had a great sleep on 10mg! Enjoy the peace!
Sorry about the mix up I did not understand the photo island stuff. Looking forward to seeing the QEII
I guess no bike ride today eh? Shoprite don't know that store!

Ginny,
Fingers crossed for your DH and the new job! Great that he can be so flexible with the agency. Hope the next one suits.

Julie,
4TBs of flaxseed will keep ya running for sure!

Gotta get some zzzz's work for the next 3 days!

SuSUN!

Hi again

Zip, hope ya get to capture the Queen M with the Digital.
I saw the first Mary in Long Beach CA about a hundred years back...well, late sixties...impressive ol' gal.
Find any bargains at ShopRite?

Loretta, what a bummer, good hamhocks and beans shot to hell I woulda cried. Does Leah still have adorable toes?

Goddess, good luck to DH... Hope he finds something he likes and pays well...y'all have a LOT of mouths to feed.

Oh, Montana...parking lots give me shivers! I park waaay off as far as I can from everyone else (with that new truck especially)...and damned if someone doesn't always crowd in right on top of me! GRRrrrrr!

SuSUN, glad your DD feels like being os active...excellent We're all ready to help ya celebrate when the TIME comes.

Julie, did ya Bowl today? How did it go?

Ok, bout that Burger Bun...it tasted kinda like a whole wheat-flax bun.
Held together very well. Kinda spongy while warm from the Nuker, then firmed up nicely when cooled.
If ya wanna cut the amount of Flax, replace half of it with Almond flour.
I ...the Queen of too many dishes...do not have a Grab it...I used a cereal bowl.
No, I did not eat all of it; I made our burgers piled so high with all the ''trimmings" that half was plenty, even for Bob.

later

Shawnee

Jacki, you are the most "flax-happy" baker I know....ya gotta try it.

Think I'll make it like the recipe says first. I do have a grab it. Or something simular. Good huh? Maybe make it smaller if it's that big???

LOL, Julie...

What's "good" and "big" to me might be different for you ...why not just give it a shot, then adjust it if ya need to? Thankfully, Flax is CHEAP!

I will continue to experiment with it...its one of those great simple BASIC recipes that can withstand all kinds of additions. (like I added shredded cheese and Onion powder)
....and I do like to make things in the Nuker, especially in the heat of Summer.

It is dense and filling. Have fun with it...

wwwwwaaaaaahhhhh Bob ate the last of the homemade yoggie...didn't leave any for "starter"...

Hi again,

Ginny, sorry about the job and the OSHA problems. Bummer. Hopefully the new one will be fine for your DH.

Hotter than hell here today too and more of it tomorrow until a cold front from Canada comes in. Thanks Susan.

Loretta, OMG Leah is getting so big She is absolutely beautiful!!

Yeah, countdown is in the works. I'm totally sick of it now.

Baby Nikolas Peter( guess that's the way mom spells it) is growing but doesn't sleep more than 3 hrs at a clip. LOL, they just won't let him cry at all. Oh well, not my problem.

Julie, bowling is fine if you like it and nice exercise as well as socialization. Go for it.

Try that flax meal bun. Flax doesn't have much of an urgent laxative effect at all. At least not for me.
Don't forget it has lots of good Omega3.

Susan, Babies will come when they are good and ready regardless of what mom does. Hell I did a lot more than your dd to get things going and they still came when they were ready. Don't worry so much about your DD.

So ditch that job, join me in retirement and start enjoying life. We aren't getting any younger.

Shawnee, isn't that always the way? Park off in East J@sus and some darn fool squeezes in next to you with half the parking lot empty.

MEN!! go figure. Sorry about no starter. Well at least it's not too difficult to get hold of.

Thanks for the link to those buns. It's something I want to try cause I love burgers on a bun with a huge slice of onion. Glad they held together because there is nothing worse than a soggy mess that we end up eating with a fork and wearing.

Yeah Roger we want to see the Queen M so get busy will ya?

So when is Barb due back? Does anyone know?

OH and Pam said to say hi. She is really busy right now with some health problems for herself and her DD.

Off to bed soon so catch you all tomorrow.

One last check in before hitting the roost.

Goddess, I forgot to say THANKS...it worked! This afternoon's sun was not predicted! Ah, the power of positive thinging..

Montana...Poor Pam...well, glad ya heard from her...she has had soooo many medical problems. Do ya know if she continued with the nursing program?

Geez, I thought it was just "first time" parents who couldn't let a baby cry...? He is a darlin', with all that wonderful hair!

My hindsight is 20 / 20 ...wish I'd popped those buns under the broiler (or on the grill) with a dab 'o olive oil and garlic...oh, well, next time

Night, All
