Just hi
I've been reading the posts on this board and just had to say I can't WAIT to join in!!!
These last 4 pounds are really hard. Did you all do something "drastic" at the end to hit goal? Or just hang in there and keep at it? Thanks! |

Hi Pedmom,
CONGRATS on only 4lbs to Goal! I just hung in there. Those last few pounds are slower to come off, but believe me they do! Then, you want to go just under goal for breathing space. Maintenance is all about staying within 5lbs, so you can nip it in the bud before it gets any larger. It won't be long now! SuSUN! |

Hey! WTG on your almost maintenance status! The last little bit is always the toughest, but you'll get there. Feel free to join us as you finish losing and start maintaining. Everyone is different on what their bodies can take, so you'll learn to tweak the plan to your individual specifications. We have a good bit of experience between us on the Vintage Maintainers thread (as well as a good bit of crazies!) so if you have any questions just ask away

Push toward the finish line with confidence! 3 1/2 to go to Goal! Ginny is right, we all tweak our WOE to suit our own individual bodies. Looking forward to seeing you on Maintenance! SuSUN! |

I was at a mall all day with my mom on Saturday. We went to eat and I had a taco salad. I'm wondering if something in that made me jump that pound. There was guacamole in it-other than that, everything else should have been ok. I wonder what they put in the beef to spice it up....I didn't eat the shell of course. I had one small sip of my son's chocolate shake. I can hardly believe that that tiny bit would put me up a pound. I didn't drink my normal gallon of water that day obviously, since we were in and out of stores all day. I know it will probably go away within the next week, but how frustrating! Just ranting...... ![]()

Hey Jill,
Don't worry overmuch about that 1 lb from eating out. Most likely it is water retention, and probably from excess salts in the food. You're right, most everything in a taco salad is legal, and the shake wouldn't have done you a lb! A big thing for me is TOM makes me retain water (hence pounds) so check the calendar! Hormones can play a big part! Since you're working out, you're also adding muscle too, so these last few pounds may really be tough to take off, but you are reshaping your body. I think most of us in maintenance use the scale as just a tool, not the whole deal. How my clothes fit is the biggest thing for me. Hang in there, you're doing great!

My last pound took a really long time to lose. It was over the holidays though, so I was just glad I didn't gain anything. I went on induction again and finally lost it...and a bonus pound too! I've even lost a few extra pounds since, but those last ones are the hardest!
Also, my weight goes through quite a bit of fluxuation day to day. I don't stress over being above a couple (or even 3 or 4) pounds. It could be for any number of reasons (right now...TOM for me!). |

My last few pounds were SSSSLLLLOOOOOWWW to come off, too. I am still going to go for the 5 pound "buffer," so I'll still be chugging along for awhile. Good luck!!!

Thanks Emmie. I was down a whole pound this morning, which of course made me very excited. I was waffling between 133.5 and 134.5 for a couple of weeks now, and was 133 this morning.
I'm gettin' there! ( I will also be going for the 5 pound "buffer zone") |

I hope this is safe to post here, but I used yogurt along with veggies and meat/protein (1200-1400 cal) to get to goal. I know that posting that in the main lobby could get me shot
I, too, want to be in the 130-135 buffer rather than the 135-140 zone, so I'll try a little harder to get there, but not stress over it. Yep, definitely don't stress over a pound or two. And congrats on your success! |

Thanks Bickie and same to you!
What kind of yogurt did you eat? I bought some Dannon low carb stuff that was pretty good. I see all these posts about yocheese and homemade yogurt, but I just hate the plain stuff. I even tried to buy plain and add fruit and it's just not sweet enough. I'm keeping my cals and carbs low till I hit goal and then will start adding. I know some think that's not right, but I love the lc food so much I have a hard time even getting to 20 some days! My cals are also pretty low usually-1000-1200, with a few 1300 and 1400 days thrown in there if I really want some peanut butter that day! Thanks for the support. ![]() |

MAJOR LCF POSTER!

I sure hope I'm not leading you down a slippery slope!
I drained stoneyfields to make yochee and added torani or davinci syrups. You can also use splenda (preferably liquid) and extract. The torani raspberry, black cherry, and orange are my favorites. Also, the combo of splenda + diabetisweet is better than either one alone. P.S. I am a sugar fiend! I now make yogurt out of half and half (really mild tasting and delicious) or a whole milk/half and half combo. The half and half yogurt does not need to be strained. The other does. Dump into a paper towel lined strainer/colander, place over a bowl, drain for 5-24 hours in the fridge. It gets super creamy. You can add whipped or liquid heavy cream to increase the fat content if you want. I repeat, I ate 2-3 cups of veggies and a burger or chicken 1/4 each day along with lots of yochee. This is from another post that I made: I know that this has been beaten to death. Nonetheless, If cost is a factor, I make yogurt out of half and half for .05125 per ounce plus flavoring. It has 1 carb/ounce before invoking any kind of 'exception' so there are, at most 4/8 ounces. It is ridiculously easy to make! All you need is bit of starter yogurt, a good thermometer, and a thermos or a 60 watt light bulb. There are tons of other incubation methods involving heating pads or coolers filled with hot water. I heated 1.5-2 cups of half and half in the microwave for about 8-10 minutes on high. 180-200* While that was cooling, I filled a thermos with boiling water and sealed it. When the half and half got to 105-120* I spooned a little bit of the cooled half and half into about 3T of my stoneybrook yogurt, mixed and then added the yogurt mixture to the half and half and stirred well, but gently. I dumped the water from the thermos, poured the yogurt in, sealed it and slapped an oven mitt on top to act as 'tea cozy.' You are supposed to wait 5-24 hours ( the longer the more tart) but I was ready for bed at 4:30 so I only let it ferment for 4 hours. I opened the top and could not believe there was yogurt in there!!!!! I emptied the container, stuck it in the fridge and am now using some of it for yocheese. It is yummy and not very tart b/c I didn't ferment for very long. Do not disturb the container while it is fermenting. I have since used the oven with a 60 watt light bulb to keep the temp at around 105-118*. Just experiment with water first. I use sterilized glass jars (not canning jars, just regular emptied jars.) If you drain the half and half yogurt too long it will get REALLY thick. I like it best without draining. It starts out with very few carbs to begin with. The yogurt takes about 45-50 minutes to cool from 180* to 120* on the counter, but you can use a cool water bath no problem. It is to die for!! Edited to add: Of course you can make it with milk and save even more money. |
