Do Low Carb Products Hurt?

I only wanted to lose 5 lbs (I know it's not much, but to ME it IS!). I did great on my first 2 days, then up and then back down, then back up in the following 14 days.

I started eating some baby carrots (my favorite) and blueberries to add in carbs. That's when I started gaining back some weight.

But I also bought some Low Carb candy/bars. I eat one a day - only 2 or 3 net carbs at the most. I have gone so long without my chocolate, and just needed some.

Could they be the problem? I see some notes on them, but if they're really only 2-3 carbs, why? I drink well over 100 oz of water - usually 100 oz before 10 am daily. I am very active - swimming, about 1.5 miles in 50-55 minutes (that's fast for late 40's), and I do that at least 3 times per week. I weight train 2 days per week, and walk, do abdominals - in general in great shape.

I just wanted to lose 2-3 more to be able to enjoy some upcoming vacation and events. Otherwise, I get really unhappy - no way to spend your anniversary! I'm about 5 feet 4.5 inches, and weigh 124. But I was down to 121 and want to be 121, 122, 120.

I've never posted or tried Atkins before. I do a WW type thing when I need to lose.

Try the Main Lobby. If you're doing Induction, carrots and fruit are definitely out. The bars are known stallers. Plus, with only 5 pounds to lose, it may come off very slowly.

You need to lose 2-3 more pounds or you'll be very unhappy on your vacation? That seems like very little to get unhappy about....

I agree- lowcarb products CAN slow down weightloss dramatically and your weightloss is already going to be slow since you only have 5lbs to lose. Atkins or lowcarbing won't necessarily take quick pounds off you in the beginning unless you have a lot to lose (usually). It's not something to quickly take off the last 2-5lbs needed/wanted to lose.

LittleBunny - Its definitely the sugar free candy that's stalling you, IMO. I can't eat that stuff without stalling my weight loss for days. You should also look at your salt consumption. Too much salt will cause you to retain water. Are you drinking lots of water? Here's an article about the effects of sugar alcohols:
