New Maintainers - Week of 5/24

Hi everyone. I didn't see a new thread so I thought I would start one for this week.

I did really well over the weekend - didn't over eat or reward myself with food for being so "good" all week. Then today - OMG I really blew it. I went to Caribou Coffee and decided to try one of their Skinny Bou Lattes, low carb style. I asked what they put in it and they said heavy cream and SF caramel syrup. Sounded o.k. to me so I got one. It was very tasty and rich - a little too rich! I checked Caribou's website and found that a medium Skinny Bou Low Carb Latte is 1140 calories!

I feel like such a big pig! I know I shouldn't worry about it. Now that I'm just trying to maintain and not lose any more I should just chalk it up to experience and move on, but I feel really guilty! Do any of you still have this guilt when you don't have a perfect eating day?

Julia

Oh yes, but I think that's a good thing. If we feel good about spurging it could get to be a habit. And that's one thing I don't want to happen. 1140 calories! Where do they all come from?

I don't feel too bad if I have a pig-out day here and there. I just try to make up for it the next day or two. The beauty of maintenance is you can have an occasional endulge day without guilt if you get right back on track the next day.

Perhaps a bit more exercise, alot more water and all will be fine!!

Don't obsess .. life is too short.

Enjoy your maintenance!

Good day all! Does anyone else find they drink less water on Maintenance? I used to ALWAYS have water with me during the day. I think now that I've mentioned it, I'm going to find my jug and fill it up!

Thanks for the reassurance.

Karen - all the calories come from heavy cream. When they told me it had heavy cream I thought it was just a little bit used to make that foam on the top . Apparently its ALL cream!

Betty - I'm drinking my water and plan to work out tonight, so hopefully all will be well.

Catzy - I drink the same amount of water as when I was trying to lose. I find that if I don't drink it all I see it on the scale the next day.

It will be fine, Julia. Extra fat is good for you. Gosh, I eat alot of cream on my Keto cereal every morning and have no problem. We're talking about 3/4 cup a day!! I love the stuff and I never gain weight from it.

I drink at least 100 oz of water a day plus my cups of green tea. Maintenance or not, I love water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And my running every morning in 90% humidity ensures that I drink because I sweat like an ever-livin' pig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm guilty of being more lax in the water dept. However, I do know I don't feel as good as when I do drink enough. Should be enough to get me on track, but I get lazy some days.

Sugarless, I eat a lot of cream too. I seem to keep finding recipes swimming in some sort of cream sauce and I just have to try them. One of the reasons I love this woe...I can! I feel a *bit* guilty if I have these sort of dishes TOO many times in the week!

Julia one treat won't kill you. Now if it were an every day or even all day binge that might cause a few problems.

Catzy I have always drunk a lot of water. I tried adding some when I first started lc but found my body couldn't handle any more liquid. DH and even the boys all drink a lot too. As long as you aren't thirsty you should be okay.

Happy to hear I'm not the only one who sweats a ton. Don't like those people who can walk/jog/run and never break a sweat. Add getting bright red in the face and that's me.

Julia, what you did sounds like something I would do. Ever now and then I get the urge to eat some ice cream and when I do I usually eat a whole pint at one sitting. Not only is it loaded with sugar alcohols but also calories. I can't trust myself with it. I don't hardly ever eat anything with heavy cream in it; never did like rich tasting foods.

I do continue to drink plenty of water. Usually a minimum of 120 oz/day and probably more during the Summer.

I've been cleaning house and getting ready for DD and her husband to move back from NJ. They have both decided to finish school here in SC at Clemson University. Never thought I would see that day; DH and another DD are USC graduates which is a big rival of Clemson. It will be fun trying to decide which team to pull for.

I have gotten rid of so much junk and clothes I have had for years. If I gain my weight back I am going to have to go naked if I ever get above a Size 4 again. It sure has been hot here in SC. How is everyone else weather. Sounds like we may be in for a hot Summer this year. That is all we need with high gas prices; seeing our cooling bills go up too. Oh well, got to get back to cleaning the house and check on something for Dinner. Everyone have a nice evening. Ann

Very impressive, Jeannie! 10 miles, WTG!

I bought some Dreamfields, but I haven't eaten it yet. I'm afraid I'll either think that same thing...what was I so excited about? or that I'll love it too much. I was a quite the pasta eater in the past. I haven't tried the spaghetti squash yet. I'm afraid my DH will complain too much. But I think I'll like it. I've become much more adventuresome trying out new veggies.

Good morning new maintainers! I've recovered from my latte binge yesterday. I went ahead and ate the food I had planned for the day - I couldn't exactly just not eat anything else for the rest of the day (maybe someone like Kimmer could, but I couldn't ). The scale was not up this morning, nor was it down - stayed the same. Of course I realize it may take a day or so for that little indulgence to catch up with me, but I'm not fretting (really). You're right, Twins, one treat won't kill me.

Ann, how exciting to have your family moving to SC and so close by. You and I are both Kentucky girls who relocated to the Carolinas. My kids are spread over the country - one son in KY and another in school in Washington, DC. We have no family here and it would be nice if we had some close. Every time they come to visit we try to talk them into moving here.

Jeannie - way to go on that bike ride, that's wonderful! I love riding my bike but haven't been able to since we moved here. DH and I recently found a trail where we could ride but haven't made the effort to load up the bikes on the car rack and take them over there. As Ann said, its just too hot!

Well I'm going to stay away from the lattes today and eat right. I did an upper body workout plus abs last night and today is lower body plus abs.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Julia

Good day all! Having a good week and so far I have been able to keep the I'm-below-goal-this-won't-hurt-me attitude in check. I do need to concentrate on drinking my WATER though. After I filled my jug up yesterday, I didn't even drink half of it.

hi everyone! well, i had to change my stats...AGAIN. i seem to flutter between 142-145. i did try the pasta yesterday, but a 2.5 gain overnight. grrr. im trying to be ok with it. i want to remain at or under 145, so it is ok. (grrr)

Julia, I'm so glad you recovered from the latte. i do agree that one treat wont kill you! now 16 of 'em sure would!! lol.

catsy, i've been slacking with my water too. i usually do pretty good, so i just have to stay on track i guess!

jvryden, try the spaghetti squash! it is sooooo good! i love it with sausage mixed in, or plain with evoo and salt/pepper. a little parm cheese....ok. now im hungry again. lol.

ann, im so happy for you! having your family close by is exciting!! and i have to say i am impressed you got rid of all the clothes that dont fit you! but the idea of you having to run around nekid is making me laugh!

have a B~E~A~U~T~I~F~U~L day everyone!!!!!

Oh my goodness, did I have a cheat last night. Bad girl, bad. I went to the baseball game and...well....no excuses. (It was a really yummy bbq pork sandwich. Oh my). Back on the wagon today. Lots of water...yadda, yadda, yadda...

...oh and the scale is okay today. Not up.

So how is everyone this Friday Morning? Is everyone looking forward to the long weekend? I sure am and looking forward to seeing my precious Jonah and little sister Anleigh.

Not much going on with me right now as far as my WOE. Its becoming so second nature that I don't think about it as much as I used to. Still maintaining and enjoying all the fresh strawberries and blueberries for example. I've only had two Z-carb bars in the last two weeks. Yeah for Granny. Can't say that about ice cream. Bad Granny.

I have posted a couple of new pictures in the gallery. I sure don't look skinny and I don't know why some people tell me I am. To me I look plenty plump. Just wish I had some long legs but then I guess it could be worse. I guess I'm not too bad for a soon to be 56 year old Granny. The quality of the pics are not good as I took them myself and they are a mirror reflection. Of course, I'm holding the camera too.

Well, hope everyone has a very good extra special low carb weekend. Ann

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

Hi Ann - you look great! But you are definitely NOT plump!

I'm kind of stressed out today because I'm interviewing for a new job this afternoon. I have a 4:00 appointment - the Friday before a long weekend, can you believe it?

I took my measurements today and found I've lost almost another inch in my waist and an inch in my abs! Must be all the working out because I haven't lost any more weight.

Have a great day everyone!

Ann - What's that matter with you girl! I agree with Julia, no way do you look plump!

Julia - I too have continued to lose inches even though I'm not losing weight. It's the gardening or just Atkins continuing to work its magic. In case you didn't see my response on my anniversary post. You are lucky in that you found the secret to weightloss/maintenance much sooner then I. I'm sure if you continue this WOE by the time your'e my age you will look better then me. Can you believe, no support garments under that dress!

Yesterday, I really pigged out on the strawberries. I must have eaten a half a quart while picking. That's how I like them best, straight from the patch. I picked 10 quarts yesterday. Last year, since I was just starting Atkins I had to restrain myself during strawberry season. They are my favorite fruit so believe me it was hard. This year I get to enjoy them and am making up for what I didn't eat last year.

Still concentrating on getting my water in - had 2 1/2 of my big mug yesterday, going for 3-4 today. We've been having yucky rainy weather all week, just in time for the long weekend. But that's WA for ya.

Maybe I'll take a new pic over the weekend. I've seen such great changes since I started doing The Firm that I feel more confident in sleeveless blouses, etc. We'll see!
