THURSDAY'S VINTAGE MAINTAINERS

Hi everybody,

Computer back on it's feet...or processor or whatever it gets back on.
It was a bundle of work with hours of downloading upgrades to Norton and whatnot but the net plus is that I have everything backed up that needed backing up in case I need to dump data.

Not much happening...we have 4 passes to use up at a LOEW'S this month or they go void so it will be TROY next week...but the OTHER choice must be ?????
Any suggestions (VAN HELSING is supposed to smell to high heaven?)

On an off showers predicted here for the next week and Bob working steadily til mid-July so things are quiet. Hanging close to home...gym is a godsend for these alone spells.

Cephalosporin seems to be working well for Chuck...I doubt though that I would ever allow for bypass surgery on myself.

Phonecia has big buds coming out her ass with two stalks on the winter stem plus a new one from the base...she LOVES this gooey humitidy. Now if I can only persuade herself not to bother trying next Winter...maybe I can lend her to Susan to take to Florida?

Have a nice one all of you.

Good morning everyone,

Roger, it's good to see you up and running again. So what was the problem with that darn computer?

We haven't been to the movies in a good many years so I don't know what to suggest. If you are into mildly entertaining Si fi, junk, why don't you see "The Day after Tomorrow" ? It starts here May 28.
I picked up the book several weeks ago on a whim and enjoyed the "could it really happen?" scenario. LOL it doesn't take much to entertain me.

Shawnee, thanks for the Strawberry Trifle recipe. I might give it a try this weekend. Moms will be here for a picnic dinner Sunday, and I was wondering what to serve to top it off.
So how did the Victorian cake turn out?

It's great that you can get a dose of pup hugs while visiting that lovely park. I'm getting a daily dose since I go to let Dakota out every day. DD is back to work and we don't trust him to "hold it" until she gets home.

Susan, bummer on the lost post.

Loretta, do you grow your own strawberries or do you pick them some place else? We have wild ones growing around here but don't often get many berries.

More company Hope you don't get too tired out.

Jackie, 19 more get up days, eh?

Barb, hope you got some rest girl. How many more days of work left for you?

Where is Elaine?

We are off to pick up some deck stain and then I'll just gag some lollies for the rest of the day.

Hope Julie isn't going broke in Reno.

Hey gang,

Whew, finally feel rested after that long day on Tuesday. Getting too old for all that OT! LOL Sunny and hot for today, heard a high of 88. I carry a thermos jug of water with me so I don't have to drink the nasty fountain stuff at work. The key is remembering to go into the office frequently (regardless how busy I am) and drink up.

Zip, I like the stay at home type of activities. Don't really go out much except to friends, and that's fine with me. Wish I'd win the lottery and be able to afford being a hermit

Linda, glad everyone is home, safe and sound, with the new baby! You know they're much happier to be away from the hospital and all the germs! Your daily puppy snuggles are a great thing, especially to keep Dakota remembering who you are and what you expect of him. We need update pics of the little guy...

Loretta, you must be feeling better! Glad the worst is over! Just love the fresh strawberries and it must be getting close to the season here. May have to pick up some for us to munch on. Have you put in your 'maters yet?

Shawnee, I bet those lab snuggles were a bright spot! Any time you want some mixed breed snuggles, come on over--my gang will definitely accomodate you (you'll probably be trampled!) The next 'chid show we'll go to will be in Sept. We will have a display and sales table. Almost time to start planning it!

Susan, just hate to lose a post. Thankfully with this DSL line it very seldom happens! I'm sure y'all are anticipating Ella's not-so-futuristic arrival. What's the countdown now?

Barb, have all your body parts recovered from the 'cowboy up' weekend? Amazing to find the muscles you never knew you had!

Elaine? where are you?

Hope Julie is having fun playing!

Jacki, countdown is getting closer. Know you have to be getting wired to be OUT!

Well, all, off to lurk for a bit then start the day!

I have a couple of minutes free because my little preg. girl on the case load went to WIC and isn't here for her appointment.

I have today, and five days next week of work and then I head for MN and WI for much needed relaxation and visiting. My mom is doing so much better this year than last after losing dad. She's getting involved in activities she could never do before because of taking care of my dad. She is an Eucharist Minister at the hospital two days a week and loves it. I tried talking her into doing this summer and no go. Now that we went thru training and got started -- she's the women for them!!

Work is stressful because we have RIF on Monday. For those not in education or business -- reduction in force!! We are consolidating and going from three buildings to two and therefore cutting personnel.

So much for my headaches -- How's the gang doing?

Loretta - feeling better?
Where's Julie and Elaine?

My cowboy experience was so neat and my butt doesn't hurt as much as my feet because I'm not used to wearing cowboy boots. How did they do that 12 hours a day?

Duty calls...... Barb

HI to all

Love the pic of the cake Shawnee, it does look "NEKKID on top "
Have you given it a taste test yet? Such perfect presentation of the cake. I'm ready for a slice. Hope the boss was not to hard on the WORKING assistant.

Barb you sure are getting close to that VACATION. Will you drive or fly to see your mom. Glad that she is finding a way to help others with her Eucharistic ministry. They are so needed.
I have lost a good portion of my voicc now. I am finding it an effort to talk for any length of time. What's next?

Ginny it sure has heated up here too in Ky. upper 80s and lots of humidity. Glad you are rested up from your working stent. Hope you had an easier day today.

I hear you Linda on the movies. The last movie I went to see was Forrest Gump. Not much of a fan of movies. I would never be able to pass a test on movie stars etc. Don't even recognize some of those names. I went to pick the berries from a local farmer. They were poor, small and a lot were rotten on the plants. I managed to get 4 quarts for us just to eat. Sore legs today.

Roger glad to hear that your friend Chuck is doing well. Is that the same LOEW'S theater of the picture you posted a while back? I'd be so busy looking at it that I might not pay attention to a movie. This cold WILL last 2 weeks for sure.

HI to the rest of our bunch.
Loretta

Hi Magnificient Gang!

It has been a bit rainy up here today, and more for the long weekend! Oh well, time to do the indoor stuff. I took DH to the airport this morning. DS has picked him up in Florida at supper time. So I have the house to myself and Oliver of course.
I may go for a massage tomorrow afternoon if I can get in.
I have some gift certificates from Christmas to use up!

DD is 33 weeks today, only 6 or 7 more weeks to go!

Shawnee,
Wow, see what a cyber conversation leads to! A Victoria Sandwich that looks so good and is so Legal! LOVE the dollies too! We sure had some silly dreamy stuff going there, but it produced all these good recipes for all of us to try. Thank you for your wonderful contributions.
Did you have afternoon tea with Bob and Chuckster?

I lost my long post yesterday because it came up after submitting too many smiles used, so I did not know how to redeem it to delete some. I did not use that many. HOpe this one goes through okay!

There's the phone gotta go answer might be DH!

Later,

SuSUN!hugs:

Ginny, LOL I thought I was the only hermit around here. A psychiatrist friend of mine always said " be your own best friend and you really don't need anyone else". Wise lady, eh?

Yeah, it's difficult to do a double shift. Hopefully it won't happen often.

Gotta have you all slap me silly for forgetting to take pictures of Dakota. My daughter has started bringing him up every evening for a run in the woods and a dip in the pond. LOL he chased some of those nasty Canadian Geese away the other day.

Barb, OUCH!! Sore feet hurt much more than a sore butt. Years ago I had some "boots" and they were not very comfortable.

RIF is a common term in most gov. agencies. How sad for those poor people. I was hit in one back in 1993 and it's not fun at all. Tell them to move to NY, we don't cut teachers. LOL our School Taxes attest to that.

How wonderful that your mom is getting back to life and enjoying it.

Shawnee, DROOL!! that looks positively elegant! Humm, perhaps some raspberries or strawberries on top?

Geezzz, hope you two were careful taking down those tree limbs. That's dangerous.

Loretta, sorry those berries were not so good. LOL I "picked" mine at the Giant market. The are grown in Calif.

Good heavens, now laryngitis? That is some nasty bug. Remember, don't whisper. That's more of a strain on those vocal cords than normal talking is.

Susan, Wow it's not too long before you hold that new little one. It's going to be so much fun for you.

Enjoy that massage. Our Physical Therapist was giving 1/2 hr sessions yesterday to employees. I was scheduled for noon and loved every minute of it. He even played Kitaro on his CD player for me. My idea of heaven.

Off to let dh get on here to lurk as usual.

Hi Y'all

Dragging my tired butt in here...we got some limbs down and packed onto the utility trailer. Bob made me take too many breaks...( he has to stop frequently, and wants me to stop too)...that's harder on me than just getting the job DONE!

Zip, good to see ya got that puter beat into submission (as Loretta says) Lordy, aren't there a lot of Norton updates?!
Hope your friend continues to improve with the med.

Montana, yeah...we'd love to see a snap of Dakota.
Oooooh, your kinda therapy sounds like it hit the spot.
I agree, I love the hermit lifestyle, and find just my own company (and a good book) suits me fine 90% of the time. The other 10%, I'm on this BB gabbing!
Hope that Trifle works out great for ya.

Loretta! dang, Gal...sorry for this latest development with you.
I haven't been in a Movie theatre in more years than I can remember. Used to like the Drive-ins before they became relatively extinct.
Shucks, NOT FAIR to have sore legs over crummy berries.

Goddess, yeah, its great to get in those pup hugs...wish I could get trampled by yours Hey that sounds like fun, your booth at a Show. I remember your great pics from the one you displayed at before.
YUP, get in that water. I have my jugs sitting all over the house.

Barb, I think the Cowboy Boots thing is an acquired talent...ya gotta really WANT to make your feet conform to them, about 18 hrs a day, like the real non-dudes do.
Blessings to your Mom, she's special.

SuSun, not too long to official GrannyHood now!
So lil Oliver has you all to himself for awhile now.

...please tell me, is the Top cake surface supposed to be NEKKID ??
I found several recipes; some had NO topping, one had powdered sugar sprinkled on, and one had Frosting drizzled on.
(maybe Nekkid gives it the "sandwich" look?)

OK, report on the cake.
Most "goodie" recipes I find have too much Splenda for my personal taste...but this one didn't have enough...and it was a bit bland, needed Salt to develop the flavors.

So I'd suggest upping the Splenda to at least 1/2 Cup..(more if ya like it sweet)..and 1/2 tsp. salt. Other than that, its a good dense-textured cake.

Bob, who doesn't really like sweets, said it was GREAT just as it is.

Ok, hope Montana makes the Trifle so we get a report on that....and Loretta gets well and tries her version of the cake...anyone else ?

Be CONTENT.
