Thursday For the Vintage Maintainers

Good morning everyone,

Show last night was fun and sad...
80 minutes with a guy who went to Catholic Grade School outside Denver and who, of course, had a torrid affair with a seminarian while he was only 12.
The Sister Mary Nutcase stories were very funny but then it went into the mental torment caused by the sex-with-the-older-man and the "ohh the horrors of abuse" that came out when he visited the man 30 years later in a VA hospital...that went on too long.
But I could definitely relate to the "everything that feels good is a sin" training. Afterward he switched to Public School and went to FALLIS HIGH (how appropriate.)
Best story was about a nun and her particular pecadillos who was writing on the blackboard when she stopped, mid-word and never moved till the nice people from the hospital came and took her away....chalk in hand.
Nice dinner beforehand.

We're fasting today (only coffee and non-fat cream) in prep for a liver flush tonight...hoping to unload a ton of gallstones.

Loretta,
I've taken high dose Vitamin B complex (50's or 75's) for 30 years, ever since I heard they protected the nerves against neuritis and the livers of drinkers from the worst damage. The extra folic acid (total 1200 mcg.) I added 15 years ago when homocysteine first reared it's ugly head as an artery inflamer.
I hope your cold isn't too aggravating.

Linda,
I'm with you on the ice cream...if it all disappeared from the planet, I'd be the last to know. The LC stuff is garbage and the real stuff is super high in calories. If I must sin, let it be with pastry.

Shawnee,
How lovely the garden...I love the old lichened fence. The pink double azalea and the iris my fave. Is the cobalt blue a tuberous?...or a bulb.

Julie,
I think that's a case of water retention from sodium intolerance (or too much sodium.) Do you have high blood pressure?

Ginny, Susan, Barb, Elaine, Jacki....a lovely weekend to you.

We're going biking in Manhattan tomorrow (after the flush has fully FLUSHED)...West side along the Hudson....about 8 miles of a lovely bike path.

Ps...my "penance period" has expired with Healthboards...but guess what, I'm over the habit!

Hi Zip. I think that your Thursday actually means Friday. We knew that. I added those b vitamins but sure feel sometimes like I take a lot of vitamins. I had some b complex here but it did not have the higher doses of 6 and 12 as they advise to take. One positive thing was that they help lower homocystine levels. I do not want to take calcium because of kidney stones. Do you get your vit bs from the puritians? Good luck with the "gall stone flush".

Julie on that edema. WHen Dh was taking that neurontin his feet sure did swell up a bunch. Not as bad now that he has stopped them. Maybe you need to mention that to your md and see if he can change that med for your your RLS. Just a thought.

Thanks Shawnee for that beautiful garden show. I have a Wiegela, mine has pink flowers and sort of greenish bronze leaves. It has finished blooming now, dang, I could have showed you. I love the roses on the old fence with "patina".
That azelea looks like the flowers are doubles. Thanks for posting the pics. Get DGB to take of pic of you and your new "DO". I have lots of gray in my hair now but I guess the dark brown is still predominant. Up close you could see the gray.

Linda I sure am feeling some better today but not ready to tackle the world yet. I think I will take another laid back day and make that healing chicken soup for supper tonight. Dh has it also and so does DIL and Leah has a cough. I think we got it from Day Care.

Hi to the rest of the gang.

Will check back later.

Hi Loretta,
Hang in there with the cold...it's a doozy.

Sorry, about the day mixup, kids... (How embarassssing!)

Fasting makes the day seem longer (sounds like a movie tagline, doesn't it?)

Epsom salts at 6 when Bob gets home and we will do a switchies with the 2 air conditioners...borrowed the buildings handtruck but those mothers are still heavy and clumsy getting them in and out of their sleeves.

Hi Gang!

Loretta I too, was looking for Friday! It is pretty hot up here again today. DH put the Air on today, we still have the ceiling fans running too.

Roger,
That show sounds a bit too guilt-laden, for me! Yep, I had the Catholic guilt training too! DS tried to go to his local parish down in Florida, as an attempt to become part of their community and workship. The first time he went the priest in the pulpit was preaching with a too judgemental attitude, that put him off for life.
He did try a Gay and Lesbian Church for a while, then he became interested in other ways of expressing his spirituality. He reads all different stuff on world religions. He is a gentle soul, and I wish he could meet a similar partner and settle down. You and Bob are very lucky!
Hope ya manage to have a "good flush" this weekend!
Glad your penance has been served and no more flagilating! (sp?)
Wow. DS would be jealous he loves to bike ride too. He is in Washing DC right now for a weekend convention. He is speaking there. It is called Landmark!

Ginny,
What an excellent job you have done on Nitro. DD agreed what a handsome boy he is!
I have just bathed Oliver, he is enjoying this warmer weather, as he doesnt have much coat. He is a shiney, clean smelling boy now for a day or two.

Loretta,
So glad you are feeling a bit better! Wow, sounds like you all have it! Does Leah go to daycare?
Is it "Fishing Season" yet, down your way? I know you enjoy that, to get out to catch a few. Go and exchange that cold that you caught!
When I take Vit B complex, I feel like I have just had a treble expresso. It really stimulates me. Is that good for us? I usually only take a half when I do take it. I am not sure if it has the Folic Acid.
Enjoy that chicken soup and another energy saving day to recuperate!

Julie,
Some one said that all cells die as we age, brain cells, skin cells, muscle cells, but that our fat cells live for ever. As soon as I gain weight, mine swell up again, and I think some of us carry a lot of them on our Abdomen, hence the tight pants feeling. IMHO, thats what happens to me!
Thanks, I read the post from the day before on Bo. sorry I missed it, must be the decline in brain cells!

Shawnee,
What can I say, Breathtakingly Gorgeous!
Set the table for tea with the fine china, when those roses are ready to bloom. We can have strawberries and fresh cream and pretend we are in England! We don't need the scones or sponge cake;this way we get more fruit!

Jacki,
Are you sitting with your feet up? Another day less to "get up." LOL! Have a fabulous weekend. Are you off to the garage sales agin?

Linda,
Had some low carb grain bread, yikes it is sitting heavy, feel actual contractions at the base of my esophagus. Yuk! I didn't have that before.

SORRY ABOUT THE "DISGRACE" EMAIL. A WEEKEND SOLDIER SENT IT TO ME. HE IS ORIGINALLY BORN AND RAISED IN LOUISIANNA AND NOW LIVES IN FLORIDA. I SENT THE SNOPES SITE TO HIM. THANKS LINDA FOR CORRECTING THAT!

Waving to the rest of the gang!
Drink that water, the hot weather is here!

Roger, actually the Breyer's lc ice cream is wonderful. I guess if you don't like ice cream, it really doesn't matter. No, I don't have high blood pressure and is quite low. Usually in the 110/65 range most of the time. I had toxemia with my first baby and until menopause I would swell up 5 or 6 lbs. on a weekend if I ate high salty stuff so I know what fluid retention is, believe me. This is nothing but fat.

Susan, is your tummy a lot smaller in the morning?

Loretta, I don't think I have any edema.

Have the grandkids here and am super busy. Broke my front tooth out of my denture trying to open a toy plastic wrap. Of course the dentist doesn't work Fridays so DH is getting some thick super glue to fix it temporarily since I'll be in Seattle tomorrow and we are leaving for Reno first thing Monday morning. Not a good day.

Hi everyone,

Roger, Interesting play but not something I would enjoy. That catholic guilt is something I left behind many years ago along with the religion.
LOL on the nun. There were a few in my distant pass that should have been taken away by the men in white coats.

Would love to try that flush but I'm a coward. How does it make you feel? I don't know if I could keep that Epsom salts down.

Loretta, it's good to hear that you are feeling a bit better. Rest and eat that chicken soup. Guess it's going around because my youngest son has it now. I'm staying far away from him.

Shawnee, it was a spectacular flower show. Thanks so much. Gosh you inspired me to go pick up a few things at Lowe's today. Got some impatiens, wave petunias, some vines, spikes, another hosta ( yeah I know, don't kill it) and two tomato plants. I want to get started as soon as I see a long range weather forcast, but first I need to stain the deck. Sheesh it never ends.

Julie, OMG I'm sorry you broke that tooth. What an awful thing to happen just before you go away.

Susan, yuck on the lc bread. I don't like it either but mostly because it contains soy. I do buy the Heidelberg brand of natural bread and have a slice just about every day. I love the flax and pumpernickel. These just contain the grain, water and yeast. Nothing else, and average 15 to 18 carbs per slice with lots of fiber.

It's a good idea to always check Snopes when you get one of those mass mailings. There are so many Urban Legends out there.

Ginny, we want more fur baby pictures, ok? How about some updated ones of your kitchen and bath project too.

Jackie, what's up with you this weekend? We want more pictures of your lovely yard and garden.

Barb, hope you have a great weekend.

Elaine, where are you today?

We had a yearning for burgers so we used the last of the propane to fire up the grill and go for it. Boy they tasted great!
Gotta get the two tanks filled up ASAP because we do a lot of grilling.

More later.

Hi y'all

Fine Spring-like day here

Just polished off a super supper....Rock Cod our neighbor caught, cole slaw, vine-ripened Toms (toms on the vine-sprigs @77 cents lb !!!)
My Toms are just starting to bloom, got a long wait for homegrown.

Aw, Zip...is it theraputic for ya to see plays reflecting old painful childhood wounds? Geez, I don't know if it would help me "release" the anguish, or pi$$ me off all over again. For my past hurts, I've examined them, dumped the blame where it belongs on the inflictors, and moved on....not always easy, huh?

Good question re the Iris "roots"...hmmmm...I'm not even sure what they are...they were a rescued clump from an ol homestead.
Not the usual horizontal rhizome of Bearded, or the "yam-like" tuber of Dahlias....not bulbs or corms...but more like fibrous roots that form a very tough, tight clump. DUH me, I just grow em.
(another of the self-suffecient plants)

I'm partial to old weathered boards...character!

Montana, I'm proud of YOU! WTG, Gal ! What kinda Vines? Oh, I'm just tickled for ya to see ya "farming" Nice assortment.
How's your preggers DIL doing? Time seems to slow down those last few weeks for the Mom-to-be...
for an easy, healthy birth/baby.

Loretta...would loved to have seen that PINK wegelia....much prettier than red. (mine came with this place....and the red roses were planted for my ex DIL...not a fan of red flowers OR my ex DIL...hehee)
Hoping you are continuing with the recovery, and that lil Leah will be ok.
Thought of you today as I planted some Cosmos...mixed colors.
Yeah, I have lots of stuff in pots too...remembering to water the ones under the eaves is a problem for me...they don't get any rain.

SuSun...y'all are having warmer weather than me! That should make your tulips and peonies pop.
TEA PARTY???
You'll be Hostess, since you know the authentic protocol. YUM !
Cool re your DS in DC...what's the speaking subject? (should I look up LANDMARK ? )

Julie, what bummer luck ! Hope its better in Reno ! I do envy all the great Buffets and Prime Rib Dinners you'll have access to.

Hi to Barb, Jacki, Goddess...enjoy your weekends.

Gonna try to get out to the Farmer's Mkt in the AM..if the rains hold off.

Shawnee
