THURSDAY for the VM's

Good morning all,

I opened yesterday's thread with a 6 paragraph maxi-opus...at the post: "YOU ARE NO LONGER CONNECTED...blah, blah" and post went into the ether...made me NUTS!

Anyhoo,.

Ginny,
Nitro is truly a beautiful dog...is he a breed or a mix? If so, I see lots of collie. Looks like lots of the hunting dogs in 18th century oil paintings.

Scale is having a nervous breakdown again...this one may be terminal. At 5 AM I weighed a nice 218 and had 8 ounces of cold water and back to sleep...Awake at 7PM, peed and weighed in at 224#.
Now since I KNOW a cup of water weighs EXACTLY 1/2 pound the 224 is ridiculous unless I ate my mattress. It's distressing because the gym has 3 VERY EXPENSIVE scalkes that are SELF-ADJUSTING. You guessed it: 3 different weights.
I'd buy another but i don't want to waste my money.

Pollution is UNBELIEVABLY AWFUL this morning...air is gray and smelkls like burnt rubber. I hope it burns off, gets rained on, or blows away. I like fan forced air during Spring but not if it's poison .

Seeing THE TRICKY PART tonight....gay one-man show....cost $1...AOK....yummy Italian dinner at Cafe Stagionale (witht the Tiramisu!!!!)

Gym going well...I can tell- everything HURTS!

Best post lest I go up in smoke AGAIN!

ps...Chicken and egg prices fell drastically again (eggs $1.39/18 extra large). Pork went low for 2 weeks and perked up again last week...milk prices went NUTS last week. If I didn't need to keep the kefir line running, I'd boycott the stuff. (At least we don't buy gasoline and fatten those Texas oilmen- fat Arab Sheik's wallets!)
I haven't bought beef in months...the prices make it easy to avoid the saturated fat.

edit: scale is back under 220...go figger.

Good morning all......

Got downright cold here -- but hey, like it better than too hot!! Snow in Denver and mountains -- as usual.

You will drive yourself crazy weighing yourself all the time Zip. It's best to take the highest and go with it!! then tomorrow - you'll be surprise!

Waving good-bye to the others -- leaving tonight for cowboy camp for a few days of rustic fun with a local rancher family here. They have camp up in the high country with a nice A-Frame cabin.
I only ride horse once a year.

Be back Sunday night!! Take care and keep it legal! Barb

Zip, it's real easy to be slave to the scale...I know, I tend to be the same way. Thankfully I no longer have a scale. Curves' scale 3 times a week. You'd think with all the technology in this world they'd be able to make an accurate and consistant scale huh?

Barb, Cowboy Camp??? That sounds like fun! Have a great time.

Thrusday and only one more day for this week. Countdown is now 24 more work get ups after today. I think I will make it.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Hi, everyone!

Roger: I cannot weigh myself more than once a week because the "sticker shock" depresses me. Enjoy your dinner and show.

barb: Cowboy camp does does like fun. Give us a full report, especially on the food, when you return.

Jacki--yeah, what's up with that? Our earthly scales are so notoriously inaccurate and yet the various rovers have landed on and explored Mars.

I am still stumbling along. I blame stress. I just finished my first draft of a writing project that has consumed and vexed me for two weeks. It's off my desk temporarily (at word processing for tidying up) but it'll be back this afternoon and I'll have to edit it. Ugh! It'll probably be finished tomorrow and I can breathe easily again--until the next project rears its ugly head.

I have given away all of the Cheddar Bay Biscuits that remained and my strategy with the muffins is, if I'm going to eat them anyway (and I am!), I'll eat them AS a meal (breakfast) rather than IN ADDITION to a pre-planned meal.

Everyone enjoy your Thursday!

Geeeeez, Roger, doesn't that make you furious when IE decides to close you down?? I'm a slave to the scale too. They are never accurate so why do we, who are suppose to have some intelligence, believe them???

Barb, cowboy camp?? Go for it girl, hoping your butt survives!!!

Jacki, won't be long now til school is out. Got any big plans for summer??? Besides gardening I mean.

Yane, good tragedy on those muffins. I'm up about 4 lbs. and need to get busy and get them off before it becomes a REAL problem. I've cheated a little lately.....

Off to Fred Meyer's to get some more of those 49 cent a lb chickens. Still looking for some jeans that fit me. My body must be strange. I just want comfort that doesn't make me look fat!!!!!!!! Ha!

Wow Julie...

$.49 chickens!!!
And I thought I did well with Tyson's fryers at $.69.

I've got a new KICK. I'm hooked on Air America (online and on radio...NYC is lucky I can do it on the radio (WLIB 1190AM).)
The shows all have blogs that allow instant chatting about everything that's said. What A HOOT!
Nice hobby for boiling afternoons in the air conditioning. (88° now with 85% humidity...ECCCCH.) Look out world here comes the commie bigmouth.
Phonecia is in seventh heaven with 3 huge stalks ready to bloom! YANE, she's a phallaenopsis [orchid]) who thinks she's just been shipped back to the rain forest!

Off to the gym...(GOOD air conditioning....TOO GOOD!)

Loretta,
Gesundheit!

Hey everyone,

Early morning for me today, had to meet a friend and go to a greenhouse--I can get up for that! Brought home some pink pampas grass, a new helleborus (Lenten Rose), and a 4 pk of petunias to go in a maple tree that has a natural 'pot' where a limb used to be. If it does well, I'll get a pic. Home @ 12ish to make lunch and check the 'puter. Fixing to get ready for work now.

Barb, how fun to go for your cowboy vacation! I wanna go!!! My horses are not broke well enough for any fun riding. Sigh. Not enough time for everything!

Shawnee, aww, hon, hugs your way. Get the thyroid straightened out, and if you need to rant you know where I am!

Loretta, glad you're starting to feel a bit better. Take care of yourself and get back in form quickly. The last cold I had was misery=3 days, annoyance=2 days, hack-n-spits=7 days or so.

Zip, great re phonecia! When she's in full glory, post a pic!

Julie, yep, better get it under control! I know what you mean about the lc ice cream. My brother said the lc rocky road was a disappointment. Now, the lc vanilla and diet A & W rootbeer makes a wonderful float!

Jacki, I remember doing the countdown when I was in school. About the last month everyone had it on their folders!

Elaine, reward eating or feel-good eating are very hard habits to break. Find something you really like to do and change your reward? Yep, that's coming from me, who is not remotely compulsive with close to 400 orchids.....

Susan, glad your group sounds like a good one. I would think a 'dead' group would be such a trial. How much longer will you have DD to walk with before it's too much for her?

Wavin' to all I missed...

And thanks, y'all, for the compliments on Nitro! He's such a handsome feller, and really has a sweet personality. His momma is a border collie cross of some type (we've seen her) but have no idea who the daddies are. There's a large tri-collie in the area, and if it's a male I'm pretty sure that would be Nitro's daddy. Still no idea what Sheyshey's daddy is. Will try to get a good shot of her soon for comparison

Hi Y'all

Geez, we're having a mellow day, sixties so far...and NO rain for TWO days...YAHOO
Actually, yesterday afternoon/evening turned out nice after the clouds rolled away...as did my brain fog. The depression was a symtom of low thyroid....as well as being pi$$ed cause I couldn't think clearly...

So I just strolled thru the yards, finding new blooms...trying not to look down at the grass too much, cause it needs a haircut badly. Talk about good Therapy It's FREE and fulfilling.
Jacki called in the evening...from guess where? LOL...out in her yard, having a Therapy Stroll too.

Got my hair cut super-short this AM; Bob says I look like a lil boy...OK by me, I'm a tomboy anyway.

Currently, I'm stalling ....on cranking the mower. But I'm soooo competative, I'll be out there the minute I hear a neighbor's mower running.

ZIP...must be lead in that heavy NJ water ....sounds like maybe 4 pillows instead of a matress
The Right Coast has swapped with the Left; it will be a while before we see 85° around here again.
Glad to hear the Lady Phonecia is all perky again.
(Oh, forgot: sub in "yahoo.com" for my E mail)

Loretta, sure hoping you are feeling better. Since Leah's daddy has the crud too, I'm she doesn't get it.
The Tulip Pots project is history now...last bloom dropped off yesterday, so the pots are tucked away behind the garage...they had a good run, about 5-6 weeks.

Susan, hope you and DD can continue walking right up until delivery day...I'm all for being in good shape; makes the Labor go easier. Are the Pups ready for Ellie?
Yeah, those Bassets come in various colors. One up the street is grey and black...he likes to lounge ON the road, and we drive around him. We call him Speed Bump and Log Dog.

Goddess, the Border Collie sure shows in Nitro. I'm really a fan of their intelligence. Does he display any herding instinct? He's a treasure. Yup, would love to see a pic of lil sis Shey too. Bet its glorious in your greenhouse now. Wish you had more time for the ponies. Thanks for the hug, I will save it for hard times.

Montana, are you getting that warm/hot weather like Zip's? Are ya gonna have a "pots on the deck" garden?
How's your hand/finger doing?

Jacki, your lil Dogwood tree sure looks charming....and that pic of the Cecile Brunner rose didn't do it justice...(plus ya can't smell that teriffic fragrance in a pic)

Barb, enjoy your Cowboy Camp, sounds like major fun. Hope ya get some pics.

Yane, our birds, squirrels, coons, etc get the LC leftovers...so far, no complaints
Hope that stress level drops soon, and good ol' contentment rolls in. I used to work for the State Employment office, I know about job stress

Julie, shoot! I was in Freddy's yesterday and didn't get any chicken! LOL, I tend to gab too much there with the employees...known them for too many years...and forget to grab the bargains. Enjoy these few sunny days we're blessed with
Good luck dropping those 4 lbs, and don't dring any NJ water

Hi Guys!

My workweek is finally over! Yippppeeee!
It seemed so long this week for some reason.

Glad it is going fast for those that are counting down.
Jacki, love that only 24 "get-ups" for work. I look at it that way too. It is not the getting up, it is the getting out and joining the rat race on a time schedule!

Ooooppppphs! DD on the phone, just going!

Hi everyone,

What a beautiful day here but a tad bit hot and humid. Been running around all over today and just now getting here.
Had to let grand pup out a couple of times and then picked up a dog house for him. We are going to reconfigure his kennel to make it bigger and put the dog house in it. That way I won't need to run over there everyday while DD is working.

HOT and muggy here too and last night we had a lot of heavy fog.

Roger toss those darn scales in the dumpster and don't look back. Just pick one at the gym and use it once a week, preferably before you eat or drink anything.

Commie big mouth??? LMAO Love it!!

LOL we don't have spring here in the NE. It goes from cold, snowy winter to HOT and humid summer. Why on earth do we stay here? Actually we have two seasons...Winter and Construction.

Oh Barb, enjoy that cowboy camp and the rustic A line. Gosh I envy you. Take lots of pictures to share, OK? AND don't fall off that horse.

Jackie, hang in there kiddo. 24 work days will fly by and you can relax and enjoy your yard for the summer.

Elaine, I would have kept the Cheddar bay biscuits because they are so very low carb and would have given the muffins away. Pork rinds have 0 carbs and the other ingredients aren't too high in carbs.
Hang in there it really does get easier.

Julie, wow!!! $.49 a lb. for chicken??? Sheesh you are lucky. They had them at wally world for .67 per lb here today and that's the lowest I've seen in a good long time.

Jeans, eh? If you are taller than I am, you can probably get a better fit with the men's sizes. I love them but they are very difficult to find in a 28" inseam. Check them out.

Ginny, we can't wait to see pictures of your Maple tree with the petunias in a natural pot. PINK pampas grass? Wow, where are you going to put that? Wish we could grow that in this zone.

I'm with ya on the root beer float. Damn, I didn't pick up the supplies to make them today... writing note to self....

Shawnee, glad that depression is lifting and your thyroid med adjustment is kicking in.
Yeah we swapped weather, darn it but 60's is nice for you as long as it doesn't rain. Bet you are really enjoying that yard and garden.

Finger seems to be getting better. Thanks for asking.
Tomorrow I may go to the garden center and start picking up some plants for the deck pots but I don't know if I want to try another hosta. LOL I tend to murder them if the deer don't get them first. Guess the pot needed bigger drainage holes.

Susan, enjoy your long weekend. I sure wish you would cut back and relax more.

Gosh I didn't even get to the golden today. Off to catch up.

Linda, no baby??? I figured thats where you were lately...

Found one pair of jeans, Gloria Vanderbuilt, size, 6 stretch, petite, short. They fit me to a tee but can only find one. Regular petites are too long. Need the petite short. Fred Meyer had them so went to Mervyns where they carry them too. None!!! One pair is better than none.

So what size do you wear in men's jeans or boys?

Well better late than never.

Zip do you weigh in the evening time too?? Once a week is what I do now and I used to be happy with once a month, until I got up too many. Do you take any other b vitamins. I am adding b 6 and b 12 and folic acid since yesterdays news cast saying that they help with osteoporosis. Both of my siblings have low bone densities. I'll have a big order for the puritans.
Hey maybe your scale needs a new battery.

Shawnee good to hear that your spirits are getting back in order. I ususally take a garden stroll after dinner each evening. I just want to check the plants and see if my local cat has been visiting. Do you have a lot of potted plants besides the hostas and do the plants get tooooooooo wet holding the rain water?
Maybe I need more drainage holes in the pots.

Julie I hear you on that ice cream. I had some of it in my hand and put it back. I am not strong enough to resist at 1/2 cup.
I wish we had some .49 cent chickens around here. All Dh will eat lately is Chicken soup. Did you stock up?

SuSUn I got the coconut, it was in the frozen foods. Going to try that pie this weekend. Glad you are going to have some days off now.

Ginny I think my 3 days of misery are up today and I can move on to the next level of annoyance. I have been sleeping very well though and see the light at the end of the tunnel. We need to see some garden pictures.

Barb hope you return safely from the cowboy ranch.

Jackie just 24 more to go. You can get out in that yard from sun up to sun set.

Linda good to hear from you. we were about to take bets that the baby boy arrived today. I make my root beer float with just heavy cream and the root beer. I sure do like it. A SUnday treat.

Time to wind down and head for bed.

Obviously I can't resist either Loretta!!!

Anybody got a clue why I'm always bloated at the end of the day. I look about 8 months pg. (sorry Roger ) Do you suppose it's dairy? I've always been this way and often wondered. Now, I eat more than ever with cheese, yogurt, not mentioning ice cream as thats just been the past few weeks or sooooo.

Julie, I have one pair of GV's, white, short, petite size 4's that fit perfectly but they are so very hard to find. Usually I buy a boys size 14 regular or slim which also fit me to a tee.
I used to fit into a men's size 28 X 28 but haven't found them lately but that was when I weighed 112.

Humm, you could be lactose intolerant. Try staying away from dairy for a week or so and see what happens.

Loretta, I heard that about the B Vits. on the news yesterday too. Fortunately I always take a high potency B complex as well as the calcium and my Bone density in Feb. was excellent.

Glad that cold is finally getting better and you are getting some much needed sleep. Are you coughing at all?

Root Beer with heavy cream is good but once in a great while, the low carb ice cream is good in it too.

I thought about that Linda. Ha!! My resolve went out the window already tonight and ate some lc ice cream. Only 1/2 cup though. Measured it. After our trip to Reno, I will give it a try. Hard to go without dairy on this woe....

So do you guy's take a multi plus those extra vitamines???? I've always been worried about taking to much as I take a multi.

God!!! Shawnee, I'm just drooling over those beautiful flowers. Sigh... wish I could do something with this lawn full of grass and weeds. Difficult to grow much of anything in this darn CLAY.

Now where are the pictures of your new hair cut?

Julie, LOL sorry about the resolve. I really don't care for ice cream anymore for some strange reason. Yes do give it a try when you get back.

I do take a multi with minerals and a hand full of other stuff.. The High potency B complex, calcium with magnesium, zinc and Vit D, Vit E, Omega three fish oil, Vit E, folic acid selenium and ibuprofen. LOL There may be a few more but I'm tired and don't want to go look in the cabinet.
