Okay here I go again
Okay so I'm technically not "maintaining" since it's not my goal weight- I have gained weight since I quit smoking and attempted to get back on track late March but only lost a few lbs then went back to cheating again.
FORTUNATELY I seem to be able to cheat like you wouldn't believe and never stray over 145lbs (varies 142-145lbs no matter what every day) but that's so not good enough on this 5'2 petite frame of mine.... Not to mention that when I gained the weight back I did not gain it "evenly"- not hardly... I gained it all back in my thighs and butt! Yes, I had big thighs and a bubble butt when I was at my heaviest and ALSO when I was thin in highschool/early adulthood- yes... but not THIS bad. This is totally ridiculous. I measured and my thighs and around where I measured before around my butt are almost the exact SAME measurement as they were when I was 189lbs!!!!!!!!!! Not acceptable.... I had my tummy tuck (for the stretched out hanging stomach I ended up with after losing weight.... stretched out really bad from 3 huge pregnancies with too much fluids and 2 of them ending in c-sections so the skin hung over that) with major muscle repair (my stomach muscles were way stretched out- which made my stomach look like I was a normal persons 5mo pregnant even though there wasn't hardly any fat left there anymore- the PS fixed that- yeah!) -but I also got lipo on my inner and outer thighs because they were FREAKISHLY large all the sudden at one localized area -when I gained the weight back- all at the saddlebags areas. Unfortunately while my PS is great- he's also not one to take any risk whatsoever and is "conservative" about everything- so he hardly lipo'd much out at all. (my waist is the same measurement as before- I just now have a belly button again instead of the disaster I had before LOL and now don't have the hanging wrinkly tons of skin hanging below that belly button anymore) Anyway, I had this surgery on 4-12-04. I didn't lose any noticable weight with the surgery- mostly because I retain fluids when I have iv fluids like you wouldn't BELIEVE (when I had my BA surgery, shorter surgery, last nov I gained 11lbs that day- all fluids retention!) and I didn't do well on what I ate nor did I drink enough water after the surgery. I went into surgery at 143lbs- then on 5-7 almost a month later I was 142lbs- so you can see that for some reason this is a weight my body is okay with staying at no matter HOW bad I ate... and boy did I eat bad the last few months. LOL Okay so 5-7 I got back on track. I'm down to 135.8 now and although I'm not technically maintaining at the present time- I just feel like I belong more to this forum so I'm sharing all this here.... I guess in hopes of being held accountable. So someone get on me if you don't see me for awhile- okay? Apparently I need someone on my butt to stay on track. Atleast this time I've beat my record and stayed on with NO cheats for going on 5 days- before I'd go 2 days tops and then start cheating again- one cheat would lead to another and then the entire day cheat- you know how it goes sometimes.... I HAVE to lose the weight. My body is terribly out of proportion with my big thighs and big butt and none of my clothes fit except loose PJs and loose tie waist capris I have... summer is coming up and I need to fit in my shorts! I can't even find clothes to BUY to fit me - I try them on and in order to fit my enormous thighs and butt- they end up falling off my waist and being terribly bulky in front since I no longer have the "butt in front" I guess. I know- sounds like a horrible problem to have a flat stomach (LOL) but it's not that- it's the huge butt I have! I have to lose it.... I bought way too much skinny clothes after I reached goal last year (in which my thighs and butt were WAY smaller- considering even at that goal weight I had the stomach in front adding to that- so I'd have to go even lower than goal weight now to get my butt and thighs back to that previous size since my stomach weight is gone now for the most part!) because it was summer and I needed summer clothes and then we went on vacation and I needed clothes for that- etc. So I have all these tons of clothes sitting around that I can't fit into! I can't even begin to get them over my thighs- and I know they wouldn't fit my butt either if I somehow only lost my thighs! Unfortunately I also had a yard sale last summer and sold all my "big" clothes! Oops- nothing to wear now. LOL So someone knock some sense into me if I start to stray again (which you will know if you don't see me around for a long period of time) anyone up to the challenge? anyone? ![]()

I'll be the first to welcome you back. Everytime you disappear I think what is she doing now. You started about the same time I did and we lost our weight together. I always compared myself to you and Julia and you both helped keep me on track. Now you get back where you belong - Right now!!

Thanks Jonah's granny. You're surely not old enough to be my granny but since I don't have a granny- (since I was 9yrs old) you're welcome to adopt me and make me do Atkins right if you want.
That would probably be a good idea YOU being the one to keep me on my toes- after all I'm extremely jealous of you down to 94lbs and keeping it off! It's so amazing!!!! ![]() |

Why? Well I guess because it tasted good and kept me from going to buy cigs. LOL
But I'm over that... I wouldn't want cigs now if someone hand delivered them and stood here saying come on- you know you want to smoke. I'd be like go away! LOL Hey, I'm doing good! I be so proud of me. LOL I knew I could lose again if I'd just get my head on straight. I've already lost almost 8lbs in less than a week! Probably most of that water weight since I also hadn't been drinking quite as much since I had the surgery in April. I tried on some swimsuits and even DH approves ) BUT........... BUT BUT BUT... everything looks fine except for my thighs! Icky icky huge cellulite thighs. They suck. I hate them. I wish there was a way to lose weight and only lose it exactly where you want to- for me it would be my thighs. That way I won't lose everywhere else and have people telling me my face is too thin yada yada. I just want to lose these monster thighs- is that too much to ask? ahhhhhhhhhh LOL |

LOL
Course I haven't forgotten how to do it... it's getting the mentality to actually DO it that I lost. I call it temporarily insane... temporarily because I quit smoking and went insane when it came to what I ate. LOL I've regained my sanity... probably by pure motivation to look better this summer. HAHA Now if Atkins got rid of butt and thigh cellulite- Atkins would rule the world!!!! LOL (ps. I know most of this week's weightloss has been water weight... because I hadn't been drinking as much water for about a month since my surgery. I was drinking about 48oz of water a day- not NEARLY as much as I was drinking on a daily basis... 96 to 148oz atleast LOL I've been drinking about 96oz a day this week -sometimes more because I've lost count... just drinking a lot more and not really keeping track all that great- and peeing more, etc. I know I didn't lose 10lbs of FAT this week... so I'm sure the weightloss is going to slow down now. I still haven't completely hit that "not hungry at all" ketosis phase yet. but I just have something small when I get hungry a little too often and it seems to be getting better. I won't let myself go hungry because that is not what Atkins is about- atleast not in my opinion! I DO seem to already have the energy boost from ketosis though... so that's a good sign. And my house sure needed it... after recovering from the surgery it's only received superficial cleaning for the past month and wow... my family sure are slobs/pigs. LOL) Oh and btw- I didn't go back to full out induction. Pretty close to it- because almost all the foods I'm eating are induction phase foods- but not really being REAL strict on the carbs to make sure I'm under 20 and having some things that aren't induction phase. (Like a slice of lowcarb bread with my tunafish the other day, a Quiznos lowcarb toasty flatbread the other day, having the splenda BB yogurt occasionally-which I did before when I was on Atkins before I started cheating- stuff like that) I would guesstimate that I've probably been eating about 30-40 carbs a day because I don't do "net carbs"- so that would be counting ALL the carbs. We'll see if after the water weight is gone if I can continue to lose at that level. If I can- then my body has changed... because before when I got to goal and was going into maintenance BEFORE I quit smoking and started cheating- I'd start gaining weight a little if I ever went over 30-35 grams carbs. I'm hoping maybe that's changed since I apparently got away with eating hundreds of carbs a day and stayed the same (heavy 142-143lbs) weight for months. We'll see... I hope that I don't have to go back to strict induction to lose back to goal weight though. Last edited by THINNER-2003 : 05-13-2004 at 02:36 PM. |

Howdy who.. I'm still here! Bit of a stall lately- going up and down... I know it's related to fluid intake though. When I'm busy and not drinking quite as much water (but still ALWAYS drink 64oz or more)- I tend to retain fluids like crazy. I have to drink a LOT of water (126oz or more) to keep that from happening. *sigh*
Hey- I have news though... DH and I are taking a trip to Jamaica early June! Just a couple of weeks from now! Last time we went on vacation without the kiddos was 10yrs ago... too long! (last trip was Cancun- this will be our first time to Jamaica) It's kind of spur of the moment.. and now I have even more incentive to lose some of this weight I gained- quickly!!!!- so I won't look like blimpola thigh cellulite queen while I'm there! LOL Wish me luck! ![]() |

Hey Thinner - Good to see you back again. I know you must really be excited about that trip to Jamaica. We have only been one time and really enjoyed it. Will you be staying at an "all inclusive" type place? They say that is about the safest place to stay. Hopefully, the next couple of weeks will be kind to you and you can drop a few more pounds. I know you will work hard at it. Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. Good Luck, "heres looking at you kid".

Thanks! I am excited- I hope we have a good time! The thing is... it's hard for me to even imagine being with DH without kids- for 6 nights/7 days. LOL It will feel pretty weird to even complete a sentence or two in a conversation without a child interrupting us or needing our attention at that moment. LOL
When you went- where did you go and for how long? Just curious- trying to gleam as much info before we go. Yes, we are staying in an all inclusive place- and this time we intend on getting our money's worth. We do plan to do a few things off site of the resort- but we're not wasting the all inclusive part like we did in Cancun. We were there at an AI resort too- for 3 days and only SLEPT at the resort- we didn't eat nor drink there. What a waste of money! What morons we were.... LOL Hopefully I don't gain weight while we're there! DH needs to get back on plan and lose some before we go.... let alone worry about gaining some while there! He basically got off plan when I did- when I quit smoking back in Jan. It was all the excuse he needed to go TOTALLY off-plan for months now-and he's gained a lot of weight back. He didn't just go off-plan, he went on like the opposite-of-Atkins-gain-weight plan... if he'd just gone back to eating how he had before he probably wouldn't have gained it all back. ![]() |

I will vent my frustrations here on this, my thread...
ARGHHHHHHHH So I guess you aren't supposed to post any facts on the board or ever say something is wrong if it's mispoken. And I guess people have some weird backwards world where they think THEY are being bashed if you disagree with something they have stated--- that you know is not based in fact but myth--- so then they go right out and bash the CRAP out of you on not only that thread but start another one solely for the purpose of bashing you. Some people........ ![]() Sigh...... Vent over. ![]() |

Thinner - We stayed at one of the "Breezes" Resorts. Our trip was only a 3 night/4 day trip. DH won it for some real estate sale; he is a realtor. All we had to do was pay taxes on it. We were there about three years ago and was warned by our guide who picked us up at the airport to not leave the resort unescorted. I'm not sure why; I've never heard of that much trouble around there. The trip was very interesting. The resort was very large, on the beach of course, and a private area of the beach. They had lots of food at all times and plenty of bars around to drink all you desired. I would say it could be a little difficult to stick completely to plan as far as eating and drinking but it could be done. If I recall correctly, they did have a good selection of salads, veggies, and meats. Of course, lot of good looking desserts and treats too. At the time, a diet was the farthest thing from my mind. On one side of the resort was a Nudist Beach - and yes, we got our eyes full. If you walked down the beach in the other direction, outside the private area you would run into natives trying to sale their wares and drugs. At the time we were there a lot of weddings were going on. They had an outdoor chapel and several times we passed by weddings going on. It was always interesting to observe the different weddings. You will have fun I'm sure.
Now, what was your vent all about? I know I am real sensitive and sometimes I take things the wrong way when I know the poster didn't mean anything by it. I have gotten a little "snippy" a few times but I try to cool down before I take offense. We are all entitled to our opinions and I guess we need to respect each others even if it does differ from ours. I can remember when Port used to make me so angry. She was so outspoken but when it was all said and done, she was a pretty clever girl. I wonder what ever happened to her. Take care and have a good lowcarb day. Ann

I have no idea where she is- but I was just thinking of her yesterday and then I read on a thread someone mentioned her and someone else said she's here and she'll see this thread... so it makes me think she's here but either A) just lurking and not posting or B) has a new name and isn't sharing who she is- staying anonymous with that new username? I dunno... I've wondered where she's been for a long time!
What I meant by my vent is that some people think that you are bashing them just if you don't agree with something they have stated. And sometimes people like myself don't like others to be told misleading or mistaken things told to them as fact when it's not the truth or impossible/etc. Even if it was stated to give hope- it's false hope... and who needs to be disappointed later- yanno? But apparently some people think if you disagree that you're bashing them and take it as a license to TRULY bash you.... I guess whatever makes them happy though. I have read some trip reports for Jamaica and many mention that when venturing off the resort on your own to not go alone & not carry a lot of money ( because it's possible to get robbed- but really that's good advice no matter WHERE you are) and I'm not concerned about that. Nothing I have read has mentioned anything like use of guns/etc. -just not to go alone, especially if female. Well I'm not worried about that then- they should be sufficiently turned off on us with me always with my husband and go for easier 'bait' (ie: someone walking alone/etc.) He's not little... and he looks mean. It's just the way he is- if he's not smiling, he looks mad as heck and ready to fight about it.. it's just the way he looks... took me a long time to realize that just because he looks that way he's NOT mad. LOL Also I have read that you can be accosted when venturing off the resort with people selling stuff and that they can be very pushy. I'm not worried about that either- when I say no.. it means no. And I have 3 kids I can tune out when necessary- so I can ignore someone trying to sell me something I don't want. LOL We went through that same thing in Cancun many years ago... they were just wasting their time yelling after me going down on price- when I am not interested I'm not interested- period. LOL Thanks for sharing about your vacation! That is one of the reasons we didn't want to stay in Negril- it seemed like all the choices of all-inclusive resorts at this short of notice (there in Negril) were clothing optional! I'm so not into that.... nor being around that. LOL I was embarrassed by some of the PHOTOS I saw online about it- much less being there seeing it in person! LOL |

Thinner - The boards always seem to be quiter on weekends anyway, don't you think? I usually don't sit long enough to look at them much. I guess it is when I am at work and forced to look at my computer. Anyway, hope you enjoy your little tatoo. If I were younger, I might get one.

Thanks a lot, Susun- that is really sweet of you!
(psst, but I have way more than 5lbs to lose to get back to goal. I need to lose like 12 just to get to goal weight and before I'd gotten to 109.6lbs and STILL wasn't "skinny"- meaning I still had some fatty areas I could stand to lose... like namely my thighs. So I have a ways to go... I'm not down to only needing to lose 5lbs. I wish!!!) But thank you- you're very sweet and I am proud of myself that I quit smoking. ![]() |
