Tuesday Vintage Maintainers

Good morning all,

Library took the book back no quewtions asked. The experience was a good one (live and learn) but I expended FAR more effort than the book was worth.

Lovely plants Jackie.

I had a no energy day yesterday but managed the gym anyway, afterward it was all I could do to keep my head on my shoulders. I dropped a pound yesterday....FINALLY breaking plateau. So then as a reward we cracked oped a box of WHITMAN SAMPLERS and ate a level....OHHH, the guilt and stupidity. Scale was still kind today though. Next box of candy: XMAS!

Our TARGET looks like it will be open within the month...putting the shelves in already. It's the largest store I'veever seen- even a PHARMACY.
Speaking of which, can ANY of you figure out the new Medicare Card...looks to be the stupidest and most byzantine plan ever yet developed by the Fed!

No plans today.

Have a nice day me pretties!....arrrrrr (with parrot on shoulder)

Good morning everyone. Just a few one liners before I head off to work. Brain isn't functioning yet.

Roger,
on the pound down but yikes!!! You ate the entire level???
Do I have to get out my cyber 2 x 4 and give you a wack?

It must be a huge relief to have that book back in the library. Kudos on a job well done.

I haven't checked prices at Target's pharmacy yet but I would imagine they are a bit on the high side.
Found this site full of information on the new Medicare Drug benefit card.

Jackie, thanks for the lovely pictures.

DD has finally been called back to work, so I have to leave early to let her pup out before I go into work.

Good morning, Maintainers!

Roger, I can sympathize with over-sampling the Whitman's Sampler. I was prepared to be good, I swear, but, last night, after I ate my pre-planned supper, I wolfed down two of the chocolate peanut butter muffins. The deep freeze is no security against 30 seconds in the microwave. Unfortunately for me, I have to keep learning the truth that "the opportunity is the invitation" to eat what I ought not; if it's in the house, it's in my mouth. The only thing that stopped me for going back for muffin #3 was taking the appetite-suppressing action of going outside to clean up dog droppings. That killed my desire for anything brown.

Hi, Montana! Whack me with that cyber 2 x 4, too, but aim for the mouth.

I hope the rest of you are handling the temptations better than I am. I've eaten an appropriate breakfast--I chopped up the little sausages and folded them into the omelet with some cheese instead of having them along side. The result was like an overstuffed omelet even though I used only two small eggs. I have some canned salmon and spring greens and a little honeydew for lunch. Afternoon snack is a couple ribs of celery stuffed with cream cheese. The real battle will begin when I get home this afternoon and the treats in the freezer start calling my name.

Hey everyone...

Thunderboomer season is upon us here. Had a pretty good one last night at work, and the power even went out for a second...just enough time to kill the lights on the dock. They take a bit to warm back up and provide proper lighting so we don't run into things LOL

DH said we got a lot of rain last night here at the house. Our drainage through the pasture was a river, and we could have fished in our front yard But it was all drained down by the time I got home.

Loretta, the Farmer work we can call Farmer John if there are no objections. DH is doing some of that as we speak. Today's agenda includes weedeating, and tomorrow is bushhogging provided it's dry enough out there

Shawnee, so whatcha gonna do about Ruby? Hound voices are really fun to listen to. Some friends of ours have Coonhounds, and when they are in the area working the dogs (less coons here so the dogs have to work harder to find one) I love listening to them run. Bet you got some gorgeous bloomers going on now!

Jacki, great pics! Love that rose. That is one plant that just doesn't do well for me. Tried a few different varieties, but they just don't like us I reckon. Waiting impatiently for the dirty old man to bloom.

Linda, don't work too hard, and have fun playing with the pup! Poor baby must miss all the human companionship, but he'll get used to it. I'm sure your DD gets quite a welcome when she gets home!

Zip, shame on you for the chocolates! Maybe you'll flush them out before they can do any damage? If I'd have done that I'd be climbing the walls!

Elaine, I have a can of cyber-whupass put back. Let me know if I need to open it. Sounds like you did well with the 2 weeks clean, just sets the stage for the rest. It can be a battle, but well worth it in the long run. Add in more veggies when you start upping carbs, the good fiber will help along with lotsa water.

Susan, I really should get my eyes checked too. Seems like really close up stuff that used to be in focus isn't anymore. Sigh. My vision is screwy anyways, and hate the thought of wearing glasses full time. At least if I have to, work will buy the safety glasses for me.

Julie, how is Bo doing? I must have missed that post, what happened? So hard to have a sick baby, whether human or fur--neither one can tell us what's wrong!

Here's a pic of the Nitro-puppy I took yesterday. Wow, has he grown! Hope I did it right!

Well, gang, off to lurk for a bit.

Sorry gang, I had so much posting on the Golden Years that I thought for sure I had told you about Bo. He is fine now but had 2 spells of uncontrollable shaking. It lasted about 1/2 to 1 hour. Once when we were camping and thought it was the smoke around the campfire but then he had another spell on Sunday morning at home. Boy did it scare me to death. Vet said lets wait and see if it happens again. I could've taken him in for tests but Chuck fought it, worried about expense. Grrrrr By the time I got a hold of the Vet, he had been fine for almost 24 hours. We're praying it was a fluke. No other symptoms.

Zip and Elaine, I'm coming after you with a 2x4 cyber plank too. Why is it we sabotage ourselves???? Both of you use that garbage and toss them away. Sounds like you're just like me. I can't have that artery clogging stuff or even legal stuff around the house or I WILL eat it. It calls my name!! The freezer even makes some of it better!!!! So after years of experience with this, TOSS IT!!!

Ginny, love the pic of Nitro-puppy!!! Beautiful doggie!! We've had rain the past few days too and ok, thats enough. I want back my drought ridden sunshine. It's only 51 at 9:40 and only suppose to get up to maybe 60 if we're lucky. Better than our 55 yesterday for a high.

Linda, waiting on pins and needles??? Fun taking care of DD doggie???? Son't be long and no more saying you have to go to work!! Yeah!!!

Off to my bowling banquet at the local Indian casino. Fun times!!!

Linda,
That was only a HALF level EACh....yeah ONLY...4 ounces each (500 calories....ONLY!)

My curse is the "REGULAR: $8.99, MOTHER'S DAY SALE: $3.99/lb"...I walked by 3 different Rite- Aids before succumbing to the lure of the SAMPLER.

I swear, if shi t were 67% off, I'd buy some.

(I really was tempted to try a bulemia exercise...but the thought of chocolates mixed with hydrochloric acid in my mouth was more than body and soul could bear....)

Roasting a chicken today but it's a dumb idea because the thermometer is already over 83 and I have nice cool air trapped inside. Oh well, it will cool overnight and I'll set up the window fan. I ALSO have to have my BR air conditioner unit replaced before June. An unfixable rattle makes sleep impossible in the old one.

ps....Did you all see where New World Pasta (San Georgio, Ronzoni, Prince) has declared bancruptcy because 0f Atkins and South Beach. Those were 3 pastas I never considered edible anyway, so good riddance. The Italian and Turkish pastas are the good ones.

And Zip what kind of a head ache did you get out of that chocolate feast???????

Jackie the flowers are beautiful. Thanks

Ginny Nitro is a beautiful dog. That puppy sure grew fast.

I cannot say more than this. I am sick. Achy bones, runny nose, feel feverish, (did not check) can't do much except lie down.
I did take some ipuprofen.

Loretta,

AWWW, sorry, you're sick....that's the two week SUPER COLD that everyone in the country had sometime in the last month. Just relax and try to grin through it. Try some allergy meds if you have them. Allegra helpped a bunch. But it really IS 2 weeks!

Nope, no headache....gee and I had a cocoa shake yesterday morning too! Wonder of wonders.

Good evening all......

Loretta do you have allergies or sinus problems or sinus problems and allergies?? how about a cold? Take some time for yourself -- I don't want to hear that you have gotten out of bed except to get on the computer and tell us how you are!!

Julie, you have the wrong attitude when it comes to sports -- if your team if losing **** then someone else's is winning!! I'm glad BO is ok !

I have 10 working days left!!

Just when I bought the largest window model swamp cooler to cool the first floor of the house -- it turns cold!! I'm sure I'll enjoy it this summer when it's + 100.

The national news carried the story of the tornados in CO -- am on the western side of the mountain so just wind -- and it was VERY windy. I had to put rocks in my pockets to stay on the ground. It was that or gain some weight.

Elaine -- I have that same problem with eating after work -- the freezer is not even in the league of safe keeping anymore - wow! what a lifesaver a microwave is.......I can only have a prepared snack ready to eat when I get home or.....get so busy before dinner that I don't eat!

Saying hi to everyone else and will catch up with you tomorrow! Tired - long two days and ready for some shut-eye.

Barb

LOL Roger, OK so I'll use a furring strip to smack you.

Yikes on the BR air conditioner. How many BTU's is it? I saw several at wally world... 5.000 BTU's for only $79 . The more powerful ones were not much more.

You too Elaine. Yeah if it's here I'll eat it too. I'm getting better at it though.

Ginny, Nitro is so magnificent!!! What a beautiful boy he is. Wow!!

Grand pup is very happy to see DD when she gets home.

Julie, did you win lot's of money at the Casino? If you are like me, you lost your shirt. LOL

How is Bo doing today?

Loretta, OMG I'm so sorry you are feeling crappy. Hopefully it's not that dreaded two week cold Roger is talking about. Feel better soon.

Hi Susan, get some much needed rest girl.

Barb, way to go and hang in there. Ten days isn't too bad at all.

Shawnee, what's up with you today? Are ya getting much needed gardening therapy?

I'm off to get some sleep too.
