HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY (I waved to my mother's ashes on the bookshelf!)
We had a nice day yesterday. We visited Chuck in the hospital- he's doing well and went to the METROPOLITAN MUSEUM and saw a HUGE Byzantine show....about 6 jillion Madonnas and Child (much gilding and mosaicking) but quite an impressive assembly. We went to two WONDERFUL Fifth Avenue mansions converted into art galleries...Julian Freud in one (at $7 million a pop) and Courbet and Constable in the other. The Freud was quite an eyeful but the John Constables were early dreary little (foot square) cloud paintings. As we left, down the grand staircase, totally unimpressed...a sales agent was heard to see, "you'll want to go up here sir." Guess who we passed on the staircase....STEVE MARTIN (I guess with a couple hundred grand for a CONSTABLE.) The mansions were truly BREATHTAKING with the most fabulous in the block belonged to the IRAQ EMBASSY Dinner in Chinatown and a legs up night- I was POOPED! Sorry about those puppy mailings....I think there was a proprietary lock of some kind or my Norton killed them with a mail time-out, I'll think of something because they are precious. Shawwnee, can you mail me your e-mail....the old earthlink one was undeliverable. Quiet day today; ShopRite, gym, and TV... A cloudy and chilly 55 this morning.... Enjoy the day all you muthas and everyone else (Ginny and I?). (Remember when Mother was a WHOLE word?) ![]()

Happy Mother's Day Happy Mother's Day
Did I say that twice? I'll find out after I post. How do you change the font and size at the same time? Hello Zip...sounds like you had a fine time. I'm glad to hear your friend is doing well. Yesterday we were mostly lazy until about 5pm. We went to Home Depot to look for plants. I don't think much of their garden center....lots of neglect in my opinion. I did find a nice varigated english ivy for my mom. Then we went to a nursery (Greg's Gardens) where Roy bought me my Mother's Day present. A nice japanese maple. We put it beside my front porch. Today I'll play in the yard some, housework some then meet my brother's and sister at Sizzler for lunch. My brother is going to go get my mom and the rest of us will surprise her by all being there when she gets there. She'll enjoy that. Carol.....Ruby is darling!! I'll have to come down an meet her first chance I get. ![]() |

Happy Mother's Day!!
Julie, who is everyone in the pic? I did recognize the dogs and of course that skinny gal !
How come everyone seems to be bundled up? Glad you had such a great time -- and YOU didn't eat any of that birthday cake - did you?Zip, you sure do meet some interesting folks. Heart disease is rampart these days -- probably always has been but now we know what the problem is - before, we just died. Jacki, I only have 12 more working days left! Just rubbing it in -- what do you do with your summer time off?Linda, I sure could use a 2x4 at times!! Oh Pam -- where art thou? Waving to everyone, Ginny, Shawnee, Susan, Loretta, Elaine!! Enjoy the day in whatever manner is good for you!! Barb ![]()

Good morning my fellow Mothers and our dear Roger!! Ginny, you are our dear fluff mom!! Hope everyone has a fantastic day. We are going to our DS2 in Seattle with all my kids there. I'm hoping all goes ok, no tongues going haywire with some of the animosity between them. Not everyone has families like Beaver Cleaver!!
Zip, gee what a fantastic day you had yesterday. All that culture in a few hours. Steve Martin huh? Does he look old in person? Or rich? Glad you friend Chuck is doing ok. It can sneak up on all of us, thin or fat. Like Barb said, we do know what to do to take care of ourselves, but not always willing. Jacki, sounds like you had a great day yesterday, shopping for plants and planting. I have 2 huge Japanese Maples and love them. Enjoy your lunch with Mom and family. Barb, we ARE bundled up. With our beautiful spring here, we picked the one week that it cooled off. Spent a good amount of time around the campfire. The people are our friends we camp with. 4 couples of us!! Gosh we had fun!! Here is a pic of Chuck, Bo and the firepit. LOL ![]()

Hey everyone,
Happy Mother's Day! My furkids killed 2 starlings in my honor this morning. Of course, Tyke had to wake me at 7:30 so she could get outside after the first one! Hate those dang birds....so nasty and messy. The GOOD birds frequent the feeders, but those starlings build nests in the engine compartments of our vehicles and make a HUGE nuisance of themselves. Game plan for today: clean a little on the house and get everything back to normal. DH will mow, weedeat and run the hotwire around the bottom of the dog's yard. They'll be thrilled. Barb, glad your DD is ok! Yikes, what a freak accident! Shawnee, special hugs to you on this day! Have you been considering Ruby as a resident at your house or just lotsa fursitting? Zip, yep us furkids' moms are still entitled to the title LOL! My gang got me some Pampas Grass. I think I like that better than dead starlings. Linda, glad you had such a good time! Funerals are for the living, and I like to see people celebrate the life of the departed rather than be mourning the death. Loretta, I think it's a shame they can't call your DH by more than his name. Even if they wanted to reserve 'grandpa' for blood kin, they could use one of the many other names for a grandfather. IMO, Papa is a good one. In the south, there are many names for the gparents, certainly they could pick one! Jacki, sounds like a good haul for you yesterday! Those Japanese maples are so pretty, but this is kind of a borderline for them here so I won't risk one. My GF had one, and we wound up with an early spring warm snap that got the sap running. When it froze again, it killed the tree. Julie, all recovered from your vacation? Those campers are the way to go. We used to tent camp a lot, but anymore I think I'd rather have a hardshell of some kind! Waving to everyone....all have a great day!

Happy Mothering Sunday!
This is an old term they use back home in England for Mothers Day! Yes, how do you change the font size and colour at the same time? Howdya do it Jacki? Pray, do share!Sunny but cool temps up here but pleasant. We were up early and took DS to the airport for his return flight to FLA this morning. Wish we were going with him. DH said about 5.5 years yet! cuz of his pension. We had a lovely family dinner at DD's last night. They put on a lovely meal, as usual. It was so special having DS home. He said that he had fully relaxed and left all the cares of the business back there. He said he felt refreshed ready to go back and face the challenges again. Julie, Thank you for the advice. I will let a few of the "juggling balls" go. Just have to figure what I am willing to let fall! LOVED those pics, what a fabulous Birthday party for Bo! Oliver has never had one. Guess I could plan one for August. There is always DD's dog. DS's dog lives in FLA. Oliver is not too calm with strange dogs, only those he knows! Ginny, Glad to see you up and posting agin! Yikes, those fur kids mean business eh? Hope the game plan works out! Barb, Only 12 days to go! Sheesh! Does the colour tell you how jealous I am!!!! LOL! How wonderful that 5lb cushion as Loretta says! Shawnee, Thank you for your encouraging words. I realize that I do ramble on at the BB. It is a safe haven for all our concerns as we journey on together. I have sent on the pics of Ruby to DD. She is busy planting with her DH in their garden today. She has spent a small fortune on plants, bushes from Irises, delphiniums, shasta daisies, peonies, globe tree bushes, and other stuff I am not sure of. DS helped her to choose them and where to plant them. She loves gardening, kinds like nurturing. She only has 7.5 weeks to go so could be a bit of the "Nesting Instinct" there! Linda, Travel safely! Post soon! Loretta, DS finished that book this morning, so he could leave it for his Dad. I would love to read it too, but you guessed, no time! Here is the Coconut Pie:- "Tweaked" Impossible Coconut Pie posted by ShonaGK Serves 8 Prep: 15 minutes Ingredients: 4 large Eggs 1 cup of heavy cream 1 cup of water 3 tsp. vanilla 4 Tbsp. butter 1/2 Cup almond flour 1/2 cup of Splenda 1 Cup of coconut (unsweetened) Prepare: Place ALL ingredients into a large bowl. Blend until well combined. Pour into a greased 9" pie dish and bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour or until set well. Enjoy! It always turns out well for me and so easy to prepare. SuSUN! ![]() |

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL!!!!!!! Shawnee I enjoyed seeing the pictures of the newgrand pup, Ruby. I thought she would have some black markings too. Glad you have mucho visiting rights. She looks right at home there in your yard. Ginny glad that you are home free now. I enjoy that feeling especially more after the company leaves. Yes walk naked. Enjoy the silence too and not being obligated to talk if you don't want to. Hope we hear more from you now. Linda glad you enjoyed the funeral get together. Was it Catholic? They know how to conduct wakes, especially if it was Irish too. Zip glad to hear that your friend is on the mend. You sure had a full day of sightseeing Julie thanks for that campfire picture. It is great that you and your friends can get together like that enjoy being out with Mother Nature. Relaxing for sure. SuSUN when you make are making your reply post on the bb look to your upper left hand corner and you will see some bold print that says vB Code and 2 choices under it. Make sure that the Enhanced Mode has the circle in it. You will be good to go. Thanks for the recipe for the coconut pie. Looks easy to make. Can you freeze the leftovers? I don't want my cushion getting too thick. Barb looks like you are in the end of school countdown too. Jackie enjoy your MD planting and getting down with Mother Earth. Enjoy surprising your mom at Sizzlers. The dedication of Leah went fine today. Nice to have both of the families represented at the gathering. Just Leah at 3 Months. DS grilled pork chops and burgers on the grill. We had salads mainly. Leah hardly cried at all. Nice to see the family growing. That is the best part about Mother's Day. Hi everybody,
We spent the day at my son's house with the entire family there except my youngest son. Nice dinner with grilled shrimp, baked ham, cabbage and mock potato salads and lc cheese cake. They had other high carby junk for those who don't low carb. Roger, Do tell us all about Steve Martin and how he looks in person. The only Celeb I ever got up close to was Paul Newman once at Watkins Glen Race Track. He used to drive those fast cars. Boy I was shocked at how short he was. Not much taller than I am but non the less, quite a HUNK! Old mansions are so incredibly beautiful. Sorry we missed them when we were there. Maybe next time. Have you ever been to Newport, RI to see those? Spectacular!! Jackie, Hope you enjoyed your lunch at Sizzler with your family. When you want to change size, colors, Bold or what every, just click those options...all you want...., type the text that you want changed then hit "close all tags" . Barb, you aren't counting the days or anything are you? LOL I'll UPS that 2 x 4 out to you.Hope you enjoyed your day. Julie, thanks for all the great pictures. My gosh you look so good and your DH looks so happy and content there. Boy I used to like camping until my allergies got the best of me. There is nothing like sitting around a nice camp fire after dark just hanging out , talking or day dreaming. Haven't tried it in a hard side which could have air conditioning and be OK. We are still thinking about an RV so who knows although I still wouldn't use it in BEAR country. Ginny, you have some great fur kids there getting rid of those nasty pests. I don't find it cruel at all, it's just nature's way. Glad you are getting some much needed time alone. No matter how much we may love our guests, it's a strain if they are visiting for more than a week. Susan, thanks for that recipe. My mouth is drooling right now. Gotta make that very soon. Your dd is fortunate to have enough money to spend on landscaping. We want pictures please. Loretta, OMG Leah is getting so big and bright eyed. My gosh, they grow so fast. What a lovely picture of the three of you. Lordy girl, just look at how nice and thin you are. Wowzers! No the funeral wasn't Catholic. My "agnostic at best" cousin did have a minister come and say a few words over the ashes at the cemetery out of respect for his dad.. It had more military people there talking about Maurice's accomplishments in WW2. He was at the Battle of the Bulge among other things. Shawnee, Now tell us that you are going to "keep" Ruby??? Is it possible? She looks quite at home in your yard. I know it's nice to have no responsibilities but you might want to keep her. Tough decision I bet. One of these days I'll post some pictures but unfortunately I forget to take my camera any place. Gotta get on the stick here. Waving to Elaine, Pam and everyone. Off to catch up. |

[b][size=3][color=deeppink] Loretta, those pics are just gorgeous! They say it all for Mothers' Day!
Thank you for the tips on the vB Code I never knew what that mean't. Thank you for bringing me up to speed.! You are very welcome for the recipe. I have never tried to freeze it. I love it warm from the oven. I have kept it in the fridge for a few days. It warms nicely in the nuker! I cut the butter up a bit, but it all melts and sets in the "pie." Seems most of us are accounted for today! Wavin to Roger, Yane, Jacki and Barb! SuSUN! ![]() |
