Good morning gang!!
I didn't get here t'all yesterday -- my DD in MN had been in an accident Thursday am and yesterday I paced the floor all day and waited on telephone calls and calling her to find out results of a CAT scan. She had a blow to the head, minor cussion, and swollen eye. They (30 grad. PT stu) had been partying, celebrating the finals on two med. school courses, and someone swing a stick to hit the Pinata (sp?) and it broke and flew into the crowd. Several rec'd bruises, etc. but Samantha rec'd the blow to the head. The scan was normal, vision is ok, smelling will go now and the inflamation inside the eye will heal with a steroid the ER doc prescribed. You should have hear the doc in ER put up with a crowd of PT students who just passed Neuroscience tell him what to do!! I called my sis in St. Paul and had her run down to ER to check things out. Oh, the JOYS of motherhood!!
Julie, it sounds as if you had a GREAT time camping!! Makes me want to get out of these mountains and hit the beach. We will be going to the Oregon Coast in July for a trip. When my MIL and FIL were still there, I spent many a summer on the coast. By the way dear -- you don't need to kick my butt anymore -- I'm motivated - made it to 125 (need to change sig) and am staying there! The flowers are soooooo pretty!! I'm not home much during the summer to water much of anything. Used to kinda have a garden in years pass -- not I just to go to everyone else's left overs and also the farmers market on the weekend is great!! Elaine, sounds like you have everything under control -- what did you decide about adding carbs? I had that problem when I hit goal at the end of Dec. this past year. I added too much too fast and bingo! Now, I'm trying stay five pounds below my goal for lee-way measures. Linda, don't hit that road too hard, some are made out of concrete! Could of used your help this past week. One of the parents of the kiddos we have in a sp. ed. program went "bananas" on us. Actually, some of these parents need "residential" services so that their kids can grow up safe and sound!! I'll be back later....... need coffee!! Barb ![]()

Good Saturday Magnificient Ones!
It is another mild day up here again today. The grass is looking kinda shabby DH said that he may cut it tomorrow. Then we we'll see how many patches need repairing! Our City is planning to go pesticide free, even on the golf courses and parks to prevent numerous diseases, including Cancer, in children crawling in the grass, to the little animals pets etc.. and Adults of course. I may attend a seminar on how to treat your lawn pesticide free, if I can fit it in! Sometimes I feel I have too many balls that I am juggling and that it is okay to let one go so the rest don't come crashing down on me. I have let my TMs go the last couple of months, cant seem to find the time. Shawnee, I gotta get me some of those self-maintaining plants in my garden. I think that sounds like a "pearl of wisdon" from you, for those of us too busy to tend! Peonies and tulips coming up, some wild lillies too, not much else yet. The more delicate lillies come later. Lots of clean up yard work to be done out there. Took some Vit E and Fish Oil to help with the thinking for the writing assignment! Do you think that will help? Linda, Safe driving today to PA and back. All those dishes sound wonderful. I will try Loretta's almond cake, was it posted the last few days or is it in the RR or the sticky on Golden? I made Salmon with a citrus/garlic marinade with mashed cauliflower last night for supper. It was scrumptious! I will send the coconut pie recipe as requested. Loretta, Enjoy the babysitting time with Leah. I guess it is a nice feeling that they "trust you." Why not, a Mom and a Nurse the best attributes for the job of Grandma! I only hope I can live up to that name, when Ella is here. I will have to read up on all the latest newborn care. My, how things change? DS loves the Davinci Code too, when he has finished it. He wants us all to read it. LOL! Barb, So glad that your DD is okay and recovering fine. I would have loved to have been "a fly on the wall" to hear those students freshly primed on neuroscience commenting on possible treatments. Yep, gotta agree with ya on the "Joys of Motherhood" there, another few grey hairs to add. LOL!CONGRATS! on the 125lbs seems to be the goal of many of us on this BB. Staying within a 5lb range is a prudent way to go! Good for you! We are going to DD's for supper tonight, Roast Beef, Yorkshire pudding, veggies and gravey for the others. I can select a LC meal from the smorgansbord that she and her DH cook. It is DS's last supper with us tonight. He leaves on a morning flight back to FLA tomorrow. It has been great having him around. I want to get more "writing" done today, I loosely use that term cause I am not worthy in those creative realms! ![]() I am trying to change my attitude and approach each time I look at it to learning something new and bringing it forward of course. Yikes, I can't believe I am so stuck! It is growing gradually but still have to trim drastically to get 6 pages into 2! You know brevity with words stuff. Yeah right, I am good at that! I know the subject matter like the back of my hand but to explain it succintly is another thing. Thank you for allowing me to whine about this! Had my therapy for today! Wavin to the rest of the Gang! SuSUN! ![]() Last edited by SuSUN : 05-08-2004 at 10:30 AM. |

HI to all
Gee Barb what a freakish type accident to happen while hitting the Pinata. That stick must have been a baseball bat. Your dd was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. CONGRATULATIONS 5 POUNDS UNDER GOAL!!!!!!! What a nice cushion. I'm jealous that my cushion has gone in the other direction. Linda have a safe day of travel and a nice visit with the relatives. Catch you later. Some of DH's steps are not allowed to call him grandpa, he is just JOHN to them. (crazy ideas from some of those in laws) SuSun yes do find that recipe for the Coconut pie. That seems to be one of your favorites. I haven't made any new sweet treats for a while. I did try some White Caslte Hamburger Pie but it sure needs some work. I'll be anxious for your Ella to get here and see what goes on. Raising the infants seems to have a whole new plan. They stay on their backs now and take the milk just room temp, not even warm. Leah was busy screaming for more food yesterday and I was trying to get dinner together and our A/C decided to break down. It was hot, 86 plus in here, she was hot, DH was hot. Then our friends showed up. Thank goodness, it took 4 sets of grands to get the kid settled. I'm happy that I am out of that stage of my life. She did eventually calm down, all she wanted was more food and a clean change. Then she cooed and gooed like babies are suppose to. Julie's back Shawnee another grand pup. and a basset hound. They are just plain lovable. Congrats. Enjoy Ruby. Those flowers are magnificent works of our Creators Hands and thanks to you we all get to see some of them. Always enjoy the flowers. to all. Enjoy the weekend and laugh a lot.Loretta Last edited by Loretta V : 05-08-2004 at 11:18 AM. |

HONEY, I'M HOME!!!!!
Hey everyone! Today was D day for my mom...delivery day back to my brother. Also DR has moved, so for the first time in months, DH and I have the house completely to ourselves and the furkids. It is a wonderful feeling to know I can run NEKKID to the main bathroom should I choose to do so Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with the company, but it is nice to have it just us now. Ok, I've read most of the posts for the week, now to see if I can remember what I wanted to say LOL... Shawnee, as usual, your flowers are spectacular! WTG on the bloomers, girl!!! Congrats on the new grandpup--is this a foster relationship or a permanent rescue? And as always, pics please. How does Burk like having a sibling? Zip, I bet that walk was nice with 70 and sunny and hope your friend is recovering quickly. The skil saw routine and bumper jack proceedure are quite painful, DH's nephew had heart surgery years ago and they did the same. Hard recovery, but necessary.Loretta, yikes on everything happening at once while you had Leah! I bet you were glad for a little extra help getting her calmed down while you put the rest of the fires out! We've had the same heat wave you have, and that gets a bit toasty especially when you're cooking! Linda, hope you're feeling better, and that you had a safe run to PA today. Sounds like your hosta is a goner...were the drainage holes plugged in the pot it was in? Susan, how fun that you had your family all together. Will your DS come back up when Ella arrives? This will be his first niece, so I'm sure he'll spoil her rotten ![]() Julie, glad you had a fun time camping! Sounds like a really great way to relax, and hope your gf's foot heals up quick! Happy b-day to Bo... Barb, not too much longer and you'll be off for the summer. Most of our stuff in the yard is self sufficient, so even if we're gone for a while there is not much for whoever feeds the critters to maintain. Jacki, y'all's school year is much longer than ours here. The kids get out in mid-May, but of course go back much earlier. Some schools around here are considering a year-round schedule to eliminate the summer vacation forgetting as well as accomodate parents working schedules better. Elaine, stick with us, we'll help you through the maintenance trials! We've got quite a few years of combined experience and can certainly tell you what NOT to do...even if we still do it like I've done these last few weeks...... Just love how you got your screen name! Also, we do require pics of your furkids so get 'em on here! If you don't know how, we'll tell you Well, all, not sure if I got everything in, but I'll be back to myself in a day or 2. Still decompressing from 2 weeks with a late 3 early 4 stage alzheimers (my mom) while DB was on vacation. I should be posting regularly once again

Hi again,
Had an interesting trip today visiting with all the shirt tail relatives and met some interesting "characters" from cousin Tom's mom's side of the family. One is a clinical psychologist, vegetarian, Buddhist practicing in NYC who has an 18 year old adopted son living in Israel. The government won't let him come to the USA for some reason but will let him move to England. AND after all this country has done for them?? Go figure. Anyway she is a total RIOT. Haven't laughed that much at a funeral EVER. home Julie. We missed you.Too bad your friend couldn't go with you. That poor thing is in for a long recovery. Sheesh!! Otherwise it sounds like you had a fabulous time. You need to get away more often, eh? So where are the pictures? Ginny, hope you and your mom had a good time. Bless you for being such a good daughter. It's difficult to deal with Alzheimer's disease. Drain holes in the hosta pot seem clear but who knows. Maybe I'll try another one and make the holes bigger. Better yet, I should just give up. As I said earlier, I can kill a silk plant. Loretta, you aren't the only one with "crazy" relatives. Keeps life interesting though. My gosh, you had your hands full with Leah. It's awful when they cry and fuss. When it is your own, you can generally ignore most of it, but when it's a grandbrat we tend to get totally bent out of shape. Glad she finally settled down. Susan, stop trying to do everything. It's just not possible. Life is too short so give up some of the stuff. Loretta's recipe may be on the sticky but I have it printed out. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll send it to you. Looking forward to your coconut pie recipe. Barb, OMG that must have scared the total hell out of you. Good heavens, how can people be so careless? I'm so glad she is OK though. Just another thing to add to the "Why Mothers get gray" list. Yeah, "hitting" the road hard can hurt.Don't know what I could have done for those parents but a good wack with a 2 x 4 sounds appropriate. LOL Shawnee, we want pictures of your new grandpup, Ruby. Yeah we want pictures and details of how she gets along with Burk. What happened to Roger today And where the hell is Pam. I heard she quit smoking and I want details. Off to catch up. Later |

Hi Y'all
Mixed bag of weather today here...some of everything, except sneaux...thankfully. Bob and I went to Farmer's Market. Strong winds and intense rain popped up and nearly tore the tents and displays down. Sad to see beautiful plants being toppled over, and handmade articles being drenched. I managed to buy some new baby spinach before we ran for the truck. By the time we got home, it was sunny of course. Welcome back Julie. Glad to hear your trip was a success. ![]() Happy Birthday to BO ! Loretta, sounds like your day with Leah was sideswiped by Murphey's Law. Sure hoping tomorrow will be 110% better for you and family. Sorry about the JOHN thing....kids need all the GParents they can get. Bob is not "blood" to his, but they are "his" more than the "real" one is. Montana, you picture-greedy gal ....its YOUR turn to post some. Hope your preggy DIL is doing well, and we'll be seeing that new baby soon. The deal with Ruby is kinda simple/complicated: she needed a home and DGBrat knew her because she boards at the Dog Day care.. She wanted me to have a dog, but I was iffy...so at this point, Ruby is with GBrat and Burk, but I'm having heavy Pupsitting rights...The pups get along very well. I had Ruby today, working on some of her less than perfect manners. http://img59.photobucket.com/albums/...bysniffing.jpg http://img59.photobucket.com/albums/...ubylooking.jpg Glad ya enjoyed the Funeral and the relatives...IMHO, that's how it should be. Ginny, its fine that you're runnin' NEKKID thru the house...we would expect nothing less from our Lady Godiva Good that your life is getting back to normal again.SuSun, how I wish we could convince you that we find your musings witty, intelligent, and thoughtful. Your writing will be well-received, honestly. (Even the best Authors have staffs of underlings to "perfect" their works) Give yourself some credit, Gal.Wish more folk would go the Pesticide -free. I don't want to breathe it, have my critters walk on it, or have it run off into the rivers. Barb...wow, that had to be tough waiting for the outcome re your DD. Thankfully, sounds like a full recovery is expected. Zip, Jacki...answer your 'puters, you're being paged to Check IN here ! ![]() Have a wonderful Sunday, and celebrate Mother's Day any ol' way that pleases ya!
