Vintage maintainers, Thurs. May 6
Hi everyone, just thought I would get this started real quick.
Roger, how is your friend doing today? Hope all is well, considering what he has been through. Shawnee, Puma, cougar, mountain lion...they are all really big cats and dangerous to us. Not that we don't deserve it for invading their territory. ![]() I'm off to the airport to pick up my aunt, then off to lunch someplace low carb friendly. Later gang. |

Hello, Montana! Enjoy your lunch.
I just finished an unappealing induction lunch of tuna salad on Spring Mix greens. I have some sliced turkey and celery sticks awaiting me as an afternoon snack but every day this week I have gone home ravenous to another unsatisfying induction level meal. I'm only blaming myself because I decided I could do re-induction more successfully if I kept my portion-size in control and the meals redundant. Eliminate choice, eliminate choosing unwisely, was what I figured. I've stayed on track, true, but I am so unsatisfied. You'll be happy to know that my SF chocolate lust has evaporated. Now I am lusting over the frozen shrimp scampi I have in the freezer. I'm sure I'll eat that at every meal but breakfast this weekend. Only 1 1/2 days left on reinduction. Ugh! I do not want to do this again! To answer some questions posed to me yesterday...my students do research mostly in the area of criminal law, which to me is a most interesting subject. I am not surprised that you know people from or with a connection to North Dakota. The state loses population daily--all those North Dakotans have to end up somewhere! Yesterday, the temperature topped out at 81 but it was 33 degrees this morning. May is traditionally the month of change from coolish weather to tolerably warm weather. I hope the sun is shining where you are!

Hi to all today
I like some of our new Smilies. Always something new here. Barb I have been able to stay at 121 or 122 most weeks. I get lucky once in a while to get to 120. I keep adjusting the foods. I am feeling good staying here at this weight and found it more of a struggle to get even below 120. It is always work. I know you are counting your days until school is out too. I just have to remember which day of the week it is. That's a struggle too.Linda maybe you have gout in your fingers. That sure sounds like my DH's fingers. He has several "grandmothers" fingers. Have you had your uric acid level checked out? I just don't think my walking stick would be of any use on any large cat type critters. Shawnee I could not get that page to come up without registering. I have been busy making those baked Mocked Cauliflower "just like stuffed potatoes." I make up a batch in a 9x13 and then freeze them in individual servings. Works out great too. I need to make that dish for company one of these days. Yane criminal law would sure be intersting. Do you end up going to court or just do the investigating? Sorry to say I have never done induction. What will be your next step. Do you follow Atkins strictly? How is the weight doing?Ginny, SuSUn, Zip hi and missing you guys. Baking and getting ready for company tomorrow eveing, just our friends. Sunday is Leah's dedication at church. (Baptist) and being Catholic I want to baptize her. But she is in our Maker's hands either way. to allLoretta |

Hi, Loretta! No, we don't go to court. We go instead to the library. Our work is all academic; the only thing we "investigate" is written opinions about the issues.
I am debating with myself about what to do when Saturday comes. If I had strength of character, I would up my carbs by 5g/day and add in only more salad vegetables for the next week. Then move to a new food group each week, upping carbs in 5 gram increments. In effect, I'd start Atkins over and do it right. But, I don't think I'm going to have the patience for that. My purposes in re-inducting were to leave behind that hideous water-retention-related number on the scale that I saw 2 1/2 weeks ago (to lose enough weight to get within spitting distance of 110 again), to lower my calories (hadn't been counting them at all for 2 years but know I've been consuming too many that my body isn't burning) and to try to develop some resistance to the allure of lo-carb foods that I crave--nuts, butter, cream, SF chocolate. I'm pretty sure I've accomplished all of the above these two weeks. Well, I don't really know if I can continue to resist over-indulging in the yummies though I have avoided them all (except for 3 tbs of cream which is allowed) for 13 days now. I think my problem is, what it's always been: whatever I want, I want too much of. Used to be donuts and pizza; now it's nuts and SF chocolate. Is that progress? Oh, someone asked me to explain my screen name. When my niece (who'll be 23 next week) was a baby, she couldn't say "Elaine," so she called me Yane. 23 years later, EVERYBODY still calls me "Yane." Hello Gang!
I apologise, I have been MIA for a few days! Had lots of whew, work stuff. The type that I am not used to doing, like writing. I get so scared. Anyhoo, I am beginning to make some progress albeit so tiny! I had the day off and DS is visiting from Florida, so DD and I took him on our walk through the woods for an hour. DD cant seem to go at her old pace, thank goodness, she is slowing down and growing quite big out front. Will try to get some pics for you Guys! It felt so invigorating to go on the walk and get those large thigh and buttock muscles movin! The fresh air and sunshine did their uplifting job too! I had a tub soak on my return and felt like a million dollars! Yane. I too enjoy the LC choc bars but I do have some raspberries now and then with fresh cream! Just as good and even better than those old doughnuts, cuz the raspberries have antioxidants to keep you healthy and young lookin! LOVE the explanation of your user name, cute! I too am 5'1" maintaining 120-125lbs, portion control is always a strong lesson to learn but it works great when you get it down pat. Loretta, How wonderful a Baptism! I know whatcha mean. DD is planning Ella's Baptism at her local catholic church already. In the Christian church at least the 10 commandments are the same for Leah and those are the main guides of life! Blessing to YOU all on Sunday, you will be in my thoughts. Linda, Hope you found a good place for lunch. Day off to enjoy your aunt, we picked up DS on Tuesday evening, he returns on Sunday morning. WE will celebrate Mothers Day on Saturday. It so nice to see all the family together in one place. DD is 31 weeks today, only 9 more weeks, or as she says 8 weeks and so many days! Wavin and to Y'ALL!SuSUN! ![]() |

Elaine, I don't know if I could go back to induction for two weeks again. It's so boring at times, but worth it I guess. Have you checked out the recipe room and bb here for some interesting recipes that are fine for induction?
Your temperature extremes are quite something, eh? We went through Bismark several years ago and it was 110 in Sept. YIKES! Loretta, Company AGAIN My goodness. I don't know how you do it. Hoping the weather holds for Leah's event at the church.Gerard won't be going to the memorial service with mom and I Sat because his twin nephew and niece are making their first communion. There goes another church roof. LOL Boy both of us in a church within a week is something not to be repeated very soon. My uric acid levels were fine at last check. My index finger did that and is now a bit crooked. The same thing happened to my grandmother so it must be genetic. Susan, good to see you haven't gotten lost. How nice that your son is visiting and the entire family is together. LOL Pregnancy does tend to make the gals stick out in front and sometimes in back. My daughter in law is due on the 15th of this month so I am just waiting for that call to come watch the two other girls. Holy Chit Shawnee, those are spectacular!!!! Wow! Boy am I envious of your green thumb. My poor potted hosta still isn't up and I don't think it will. I kind of poked around in the dirt and found a wet, soggy thing that might be the remains of it. Julie should be back tomorrow I think and hopefully the rest of the MIA's will turn up soon. |

Hi kiddies,
What a GORGEOUS tree peony that is Shawnee...when you have time, snap the whole tree. I think I came across one todayy in a New York garden and I wasn't sure whether or not is was a peony. My friend Chuck looked pretty well considering that his chest was cut by a saw and splayed out with a car jack on Monday (4 arteries bypassed)...I think he was connected with about 16 tubes and the scar is hideous.... He's eating and joking though. He'll be in about 4 to 6 more days. After the hospital visit I had a delightful walk around Chelsea and Greenwich Village...70 degrees and sunny!Yane, I think shrimp scampi is perfectly fine on INDUCTION (as long as it's not over Linguini! )...I've never been fond of reinduction I violated some TOS on my favorite board, Healthboards...God knows what I said...they don't even allow you to post another site name!!! Anyhoo, they ban for a week so that frees up about 2 hours a day for me. I'm secretly very happy to have the time back! Linda, I'm convinced that arthritis is VERY familial...I have my father's lower back and my mother's hand and right big toe (starting to curve in...her's OVERLAPPED! Nighty night to my friends Susan, Loretta, Jacki, Barb.

Hi again
Nice here today. DGBrat had the day off, so we went to OR and shopped at a discount grocery outlet...love those bargains ![]() SuSun, so glad to see ya back ....and with a great excuse for being Absent. So glad ya have your lil family together. What's the writing subject?..for your Toastmasters, or Work? Hehee...I don't know of any baby who's gonna show up on a Dr.s predicted date... Montana, are ya ready for the arrival of the new GrandSon? How cool is that? Yeah, those poor critters are being displaced. Even the ones who've been granted a sanctuary on a "Rez" like Yellowstone still get no respect...the damn snowmobilers are making thier lives chokingly, noisily polluted. Yane, LOL..I was sure that YANE was an affectionate name you had been graced with. Sweet. ![]() You are being kinda hard on yourself (IMHO) with the super-strict Re-induction...but Hey, you know yourself best. ![]() Thanks for the job description, sounds like it could have some facinating aspects. Ginny, I'm missing you ...even you're Lady Godiva-streaking thru act. Hope family and FurKids are all well. Jacki, I'll help ya keep track...is it 29 working days left? I have blooms on the Tom plants. How's the Dirty Old Man Plant, opening yet? Loretta...was the site the one with the flower, or? Well, the main thing, like ya say, is...Miss Leah is in Creator's hands. Mayhaps the route to them isn't as important as the destination ![]() That casserole gets scarfed up fast around here. Listen up, you Catholics, I put myself thru some grueling reading just for y'all ![]() Just finished The Shoes of the Fisherman by Morris L. West. A very intense, heavy-duty read. Tho Fiction, it helped educate me re the workings of the Pope and the tiny yet immense world he rules. ZIP...your poor friend ..still, having that wicked scar is better than being Daisy fertilizer.Yeah on the inherited defects: my right pinkie is turning inwards like my Dad's. My knuckles look pregnant like my Mom's. I don't have a full shot of the PT, but here's one I snapped of its upper section. Its about 6', with blooms to the ground. Heads so full, and heavy from rain, they turn downwards. What's everyone cooking/baking? Bob didn't get all the Cheese Biscuits...GBrat put her Seal of Approval on one ShawneeLast edited by shawneesioux : 05-06-2004 at 09:48 PM. |
