Hi everybody,
A dear friend was heading down to our favorite old farte bar in the Village Friday and told the cabby to stop at St. Vincent's hospital...he went in an said he's having severe chest pains. Yep, a heart attack and he had 4 bypasses yesterday morning. They wouldn't tell us anything over the phone so I might toddle over today. How bad is the recovery? Will he need a nurse or just home-rest? He already has a cleaning person once a week. We saw a good show yesterday called WELL by Lisa Kron about how "allergies" to life can be passed from mother to daughter and can the daughter get "cured." Hysterical scenes in an allergy hospital where the patients were trying foods one at a time with some going quite bonkers. We all know some people who are allergic to life...good play. OBSCENE DINNER...I feel guilty eating like a pig, Italian from a Caesar salad as big as a house to a chickem parmesan that was bigger than a dinner plate to...to....to....TIRAMISU! Well, penitence will be the rule of diet today. Elaine, Gee, still 32° up your way...BRRRR. Linda, Mouth sling works BUT it's hard to sleep soundly all trussed up like that. I will look for the OraGel you mentioned; CVS, or Duane Reade should have it (I think I saw it in my mind's eye a while ago.) Which finger aches...for me it's my mouse left clickker...I even tried mousing with the left...OY, that's hard. I think it's a repeated stress-related injury. I wish I could sue somebody for workmen's comp but I think first you have to be a worker....how silly! That pulled pork was YUMMY. What I did was take the small leftover piece which had roasted for 3 hours in the oven for the first meal and plunked it in the pressure cooker with a cup of water and a bullion cube. When done and cooled it shredded off the bone with no trouble. Mixed with some BBQ sauce and reheated it made 2 DELICIOUS big sandwiches. A success...I'll do it again soon. They called Bob too work for the next Month or so starting today so it will be a hard gym push for me for the next several weeks.YAAY: I got both windows washed yesterday...backbreaking but the view is nice again. Be well all.

Good morning!
Zip, sorry to hear about your friend's heart troubles. I hope he's on the mend soon. Tiramisu! I've never had it but it looks so yummy. I wish I could be the kind of eater who says and means, "Just one bite." I have trouble enough following the Atkins edict to eat until satisfied but not stuffed! Of course, one thing I can say about lo-carb eating, even when I pig out, it's nowhere near as bad as it was before this WOL when I'd eat 18 glazed donut holes in a sitting. I am still eating cleanly on re-induction, just three more days to go. The closer I get to Saturday, though, the less appealing the idea of following the Atkins ladder approach of adding in 5 carbs/day and a different food group each week becomes. I want to skip right to the 3-minute chocolate cake and buy some Russell Stover's chocolate sauce to drench it in. Doomed to repeat history because I don't seem to be able to learn from it. Hope everyone has a great day. It's a little warmer here today but later we're getting the rain the rest of you have had.

Hi everyone,
Roger, I'm so sorry about your friend but at least they caught it before a fatal event occurred. Whew!! He is very lucky. My MIL had several bypasses when she was in her late 70's and did quite well at home without a nurse. She said the incision didn't really hurt much, but she was quite tired. Naturally housework is out of the question for some time, but he should be OK without a nurse unless he has some unforeseen complications. Dinner and the show must have been wonderful. Glad you enjoyed it. Poor Bob, how much longer is he going to work? Hopefully he will think about retiring soon. My left pinky finger is killing me. It's been red and swollen for several months. Ibuprofen usually takes care if it if I remember to take it. This getting old is no fun. Humm, I have about 18 windows that need attention. Are you interested? Elaine, My fondness for Tiramisu as well as other "goodies" is what got me fat. LOL... There are several low carb recipes out there for the stuff but I haven't tried them yet. Glad induction is going well for you but keep your fingers out of the chocolate sauce. Why don't you make your own using liquid splenda if you can find it or the packets. Those sugar alcohols in the commercial stuff can reek havoc on the intestinal track.Jackie, those 30 days should go fast for you. Any plans for the summer other than yard work? I'm off to work for a few hrs this evening and will be running around the rest of the week. My aunt is flying in tomorrow to attend the memorial service, on Sat., in Waymart, Pa for one of the cousins who moved to Montana several years ago. His son is bringing the ashes home to be buried next to the wife. Sunday, dinner at my son's house for all the "moms". He is doing a BBQ and a baked ham. Everyone will bring a side dish so it will easy on everyone. I'm making the mock potato salad and a LC chocolate cheese cake. Enjoy the day everyone. Linda |

Oh and if you haven't already protected your computer from the Sasser worm, please do so. Here is the link. It's a nasty one and our local radio station was hit really hard this morning.

Hi to all
Zip that was so very fortunate for your friend to get to the hospital in time. Glad you will be stopping to visit him. He should do fine at home maybe with a visiting nurse for a while. I think that your penance for today would be to fast. I sure overate on Sunday but did not seem to be able to get it in control. Will behave myself now that it is out of my system. Linda what happened to your finger?? Soak it in some warm soapy water to help get rid of that infection. Or is it some sort of gout????? I see now it has been like that for several months. I had a piece of wood stuck in my foot one time and I was not aware that it was a sliver, but it finally worked out after I soaked and soaked it. You ditched work???? AMazing. You are getting ready to wind down for REAL retirement. Thanks for the web site for the sasser worm but he is not eating windows 98 SE. I checked it out. Jackie ok 30 days left Elaine you have got to get that chocolate out of your mind. You can survive without it. I usually eat more than what is required to satisfy me too. It is hard for me to leave anything on my plate. Resturant servings are sure oversized. At least at home we have some control by not even putting that much on our plates. Do something nice for yourself today!!!!!!! Loretta |

Hi Y'all
A semi-decent day here...off and on sprinkles. Geez, Zip...sorry to hear about your friend, and wishing him a speedy recovery. His attitude will also be a factor in recovery...we all know people who are very upbeat and positive...then there's the "woe is me" kind. I'm sure a visit from you would please him. ![]() Went to Wally's this AM...with NO thought of plant purchases...but got waylaid by this gorgeous Campanula Blue. Full double blooms (think mini-roses). They are Perennial and can be grown inside or out. Got one for my DGBrat, who's just getting into the Garden Fever- "chlorophyl in my veins" phase of life. .....and one for me too. At $6.88 ea plus Tax, there will be no mass plantings of 'em.![]() http://www.bloomrite.com/images/product/prd102.jpg Hey Yane. Your "name" has me intrigued...a pet name for Elaine? Is your job program the type that does legal research for Attorneys/ Agencies? Good for you, making Mr. Peanut keeping his darn nuts to himself. If talking to machines, myself, any object, etc is a questionable act...then I'm a great candidate for the Psych Farm. Montana, now you listen to Loretta and soak that finger! Take care of you "tea drinking" digit. How sweet of your DSon to do the Moms Dinner. Sure is smart for everyone to bring a dish; less stress for all. Thanks for the Sasser info...rushed to check out my Downloads. Thankfully it was one taken care of 2 weeks back. (KB835732) Those !*!*#@! Virus writers need to face the Indian Punishment. Loretta, remember those Cheesy Biscuits we were making last year? Oh...you didn't like them. Bob loves 'em, and was one tickled hombre when he walked in just as they came fresh from the oven.....guess who was mumbling "Oh, HOT ! Oh, GOOD !..too hot..so good.." HeheeHow's lil Leah doing? Re the FULL PLATE syndrome: I started using my old antique-y Currier & Ives dishes...much smaller than my newer ones. Jacki, have you made those biscuits? I was thinking of YOU when I made this batch, cause I subbed in a lot of Flax. ![]() Chedder Bay Biscuits 8 oz cream cheese 4 large eggs 2 cups pork rind flour 1/2 cup grated parmesian cheese 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 cup Italian Cheese Mix shreeded cheese 1 cup shredded Sharp Chedder Cheese 1 tsp pepper 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp dried parsley Preheat oven to 425. Bring cream cheese and eggs to room temperature. Mix cream cheese and eggs, one egg at a time until smooth. Add pork rind flour, baking powder, seasoning and cheeses. Mix until blended. Mixture will be thick. Mound mixture in a nonstick 12 muffin tin sprayed with Pam (or any nonstick spray). The mounds should be about the size of a lemon (mixture made 12). Bake 12-15 minutes. Remove from oven and brush with melted butter. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Missing our MIAs... Susan, where are ya Gal? Ginny, hope to hear from ya soon. Those Campanula Blue plants are beautiful Shawnee. At the price I can see why you are not going for mass planting.
I enjoyed a wonderful day with warm temps and even got the old Honda washed and waxed. DH went fishing but returned empty handed. I did not care for those biscuits at all but sure do like the spongebob flax bread. I make it regularly, and eat 2 slices once a week. I use flaxmeal now for most of my baked goods except for almond and oat flour for my cookies. I just eat them once a week now but so far so good. Never did see that 125 anymore except for that one time. Loretta Another pic of Leah coming up soon. |

Good evening group......
to Elaine -- not sure if I've been on since you joined us. My DD is going to grad school in the cities and her closest friend is from ND. The math teacher at our high school is from ND. We hear about the people up "north" all the time. Chocolate is a problem? I was never a sweets eater but definitely "starch" was my middle name.Loretta, we like the flaxmeal bread also but DH really likes the cheddar bay muffins. I always have flaxmeal in the refrig. So.......true confession time, you are not seeing125? I went down from 130 and am trying like heck to stay at 125 just for grins. But, I really have to be careful and don't really feel like I'm am maintaining because I'm always working at it. Jacki, I have 14 working days left!! Linda, I thought I was going to die laughing at your comment on the GB -- and.... they eat pets and little children. I guess we just don't understand the food chain concept. Did you see the TV pictures on the news of the fires in CA?? Shawnee, isn't it great when one goes to the store for one thing and come home with others!! Rest well this evening -- Barb ![]()

Hi again everybody.
Loretta, it's not an infection. I do think it's arthritis since it's happened before to my index finger. Good Lord, I'm getting my grandmother's fingers. The Small Distal Interphalangeal Joint is swollen and hurts like hell. It happened to my index finger and now that finger doesn't hurt but is rather "lumpy" looking. Glad that worm won't bother your computer. It's a nasty one. My gosh you wash that car frequently, eh? I bet she is in wonderful shape though. You probably don't have much of a problem with salt on the roads in the winter to rust the thing. We take our Corolla off the road in the winter to try to save it. Shawnee, those Cheddar biscuits are WONDERFUL!! Hopefully your DH will leave some for you. Yeah, the last critical download took care of the worm problem but so many people don't keep up with them. At least the site has a tool to scan and see if one has it. Those Campanula Blue are beautiful!! Last year I had something that looked like mini roses but were a bright rose color. I think they were some kind of impatient. Hopefully I can find more when the time comes. LOL If spring ever gets here. Barb, glad you got a chuckle from my comment. People just don't realize that animals do what's natural. Near Missoula, in a town called Arlee, a kid was waiting for the school bus and was taken by a mountain lion. Unfortunate, yes but that's what wild animals do. They need to eat too. Yes I saw the wild fires and hope the west gets some much needed moisture. Do you get those darn dangerous things close to you? Hopefully you and your home are somewhat safe from them. Now where are Susan, Pam, Ray, Annie and the rest? |

Cougars, Mountain lions...I prefer "Pumas"
In today's news, an attack bout 40 Mi. from here.
http://www.kgw.com/news-local/storie...191055f49.html Barb, we have tons of Finlanders here in WA with roots in ND. DH's paternal side from there. Hehee, my SIL who was born in Minot is half Indian, half Finn. We call her a Fin-jun. She calls me a Heinz 57 Mutt. ![]() Oh, Montana...sorry your ol' paws are getting cranky. I used to be so proud of my penmanship...now on bad days, I'm ashamed of my scrawls on a check. Well, we may be ageing, but at least we're alive to complain about it. ![]() SuSun, I wish you would check in, cause I wanna tell ya that my Tree Peony is blooming!. Sure hope everything is ok with you and family. Shawnee |
