We are having lovely April showers and May flowers to follow.....

I'm getting organized and cooking up a storm today -- freeze and prepare for the week. I should just slap myself silly and read a book or something!! I have no idea what got into me!!

Leah, of course, steals the show!! Anyone with difficulty with medical problems at birth and surgery is a treasure -- that's for sure!!

Good morning gang.

It's going to be another wonderful day here but we are expecting thunder storms tonight and tomorrow. Tomorrow is the 1st communion for grandbrat so I guess I'll have to go to the church. If you all hear a loud crash, it's only the roof of the church falling in. LOL I can count on one hand the number of times I've been in a church in the last 30 years. Mostly for weddings and funerals.

Oh and I found the cheap blood glucose monitor at Sam's Club and got it. For only $8.88 plus the cost of the strips, it's not too bad so now I can test my reaction to various foods.

Barb, want to come here and give me a kick in the butt? I'm looking at a pile of beef cubes that need attending to. Thinking of making a stew or something with it but I just can't get going.

Julie, aka Betty Crocker. You are going to love Loretta's almond cheese cake. Sometimes I leave the almond flavor out and add either lemon or vanilla extract. It's wonderful topped with strawberries too. Oh and try it made with unsweetened cocoa powder. YUMM

Sorry about the critter getting your hosta. What can you do about moles? We don't have any plants in the yard so we aren't bothered by them.

Goldies ignore as I'm copying this from the Goldens. Ran out of time this morning and wanted all to know my good news.

I got an email from Jana!!!!!!!!! (my 14 yo DGD) Remember she went to China on Monday!!! I never imagined she would have access to a computer and was thrilled when I turned on my puter this morning. She is doing great, says it's crazy over there but lots of fun. She said she has lots of stories to tell and just in the last 2 days!! I am so excited for her and can hardly wait to hear all of her stories. She'll be home on the 9th of May. I'm on cloud 9.

My yellow rose climber has burst out in the last few days!!!

Hi Y'all!

I was off today! I went to a retirement do this aft, as a girlfriends date. There were over 300 folks retiring! It felt like the afterlife, people being called up to the podium to receive their gifts with their starting dates and years of service read out! So much food afterwards, I picked very carefully off the buffet tables, cheese, deli meat, brocolli, red peppers and dip, loved the canteloupe and few segments of grapefruit, not had any in ages. I had to take an alkaselzer when I got home the slight sugar must have upset my system. YUK!!!!
Feel much better now!

You are right she does have a good sense of humour at her age.
I think there is a saying about, "You dont grow old because you stop laughing".....something to that effect.
So I guess we have to keep laughing. I try, even though some days.......I feel dragged down.

How wonderful to see Burk after all these months, what a big healthy boy he has grown into.
I'll bet your garden looks a delight! Ours is beginning to green up now, we do have many patches from fursitting DD's dog and Oliver, so I guess we will have to get some lime to counter the urine stains and black earth and grass seed rolled well in.
DH thinks we have some kind of bug patch on the front lawn and looks like we may have to get some kind of preditor insects to eat them up. Dont want any nasty pesticides around here anymore!
